[Q] How to merge external files with rom files?

Hey guys,
I just started the long journey of android rom development/cooking using an app called Android Kitchen, and I'm looking for some help from the more experienced. I extracted a custom rom folders (for personal use), and started to edit some of the extracted files (replacing and deleting), but I'm quite lost when it comes to merging flashable .zip folders (like lockscreens and mods) with the extracted rom file.Should I copy and paste whats inside the flashable zip into the rom file? Or should I use note editor to copy what's inside the mod file itself, copy the text, and add it to the original one? I really want to add these mods through this app rather than recovery mode. And can I emulate edited roms on my computer rather than risking my phone?
Thnx...

custom rom add ons

Good. I presume, you have downloaded the ROM to PC, right?
So, here is the procedure how to sort out your problem:
1. go to ghisler.com or other web page;
2. Download total commander or another file manager;
3. unpack your ROM file;
4. Look carefully into it.
5. Delete any and all files, one by one.
6. Delete original rar archive.
7. Open notepad (or other word processor) on your PC
8. Write at least 150 times the sentence: "I wil NOT download sevreal gigs without thinking what for I am doing this"
9. got to Google Play search for apk named: Samsung S4 Ringtones
I think it will sort out your current problem, and even furthermore, except of the step 9, the procedure shall sort out most of your future problems as well...

Cyanogenmod 12.1 sounds

I need sounds from Cyanogenmod 12.1, I want to change sounds in stock rom and can't find these from cm 12.1. I need especially sound of touch, but the rest will be useful too
Download the 12.1 ROM from ROX or another dev and unpack zip file with ROM - in system/media/audio are the sounds you want.
after this copy this files to your rom on the phone in the same place - that's all (do this via root explorer and you have rooted phone) or if you need only alarms or rings - copy file to your sd card to folders "rings" or "alarms"(even without root).
In sounds settings you can change sounds to copied files
I can't find it anywhere, in system folder I have only build.prop
