Macro Shots w/ Vibrant camera - Vibrant General

Just wanted to share some macro shots I took today of a butterfly sitting on my porch. The sky was overcast with no sun. Shots were taken in Macro mode at 400 ISO. I would like some feedback from a photographer who knows what their doing. Let me know what you think of the Vibrant's camera.

Nice pics, I'm amazed the butterfly Hung out that long. Now as a photographer (decent) at best I would say the pics are great for a cell phone but nothing makes up for a good dslr camera and controlled lighting... that being said the pics look great for the hardware they were accomplished on

Pretty awesome for a cellphone.
I personally can't make my phone stable for some reason especially hitting the on screen shutter.

Nice pics! I am loving having such a good camera with me all the time. I took this the other afternoon in my backyard. Macro mode works nicely.

Excuse my ignorance, but what exactly is macro mode? Looking through the settings in the camera I don't see a 'macro mode'. Granted, I do have the Captivate camera mod, but pretty sure all the options are the same.

I am no photographer but what macro mode does if you are going to be taking an extreme close-up picture of something. It makes the camera focus different so when the lenses is close to an object its not blurry.

I found it. Under 'focus mode' in the settings. Now time to play with it.

i think we should have a Camera Forum under Vibrant.. because it feels like we're going to be having alot of amatuer (but brilliant) Photography!!!
I'm going to start posting some pics i've taken on a new thread.. hopefullly ppl will share their brilliant photography!!
p.s. I know there is probably a Flickr group for all that goodness.. but i just feel at home in XDA

Really nice pictures guys
Here's a similar thread (not Macro Shots) http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=745704&highlight=photos maybe some of you want to pass by and post some pics in there.

400 ISO

The quality is quite decent for a camera lens the size of a small pencil eraser (if that).

026 Improved camera quality?

Greetings everyone,
I am running now the 026 Generic firmware and i noticed that my photo quality improved a lot from 020.
Also during night my photos are actually pretty nice.
Here are some photos with the 026.
If anyone can share opinions or facts .. thanks.

You just wanna show off your house don't you.
Lighting is very important though.
They really have to fix this. My k850i makes better shots than this. I hope they fixed the zoom and focus in the update. When I try to make a shot if a document, I can't read it. When it focuses the letters become readable for a second but when you shoot its vague.

Try using the Vignette app for this. In my experience, the problem is less about focus and more about compression: the built-in camera app compresses the images way too much and there's no way to change it. If you use Vignette you can set the images to superfine and things get ALOT better - I can capture small typeface at some distance and still find it legible.
Of course, I would prefer it if the SE camera app worked better itself to prevent users having to invest in a separate app...
Wow... +1 for the Vignette app....
Just done a little experiment...
(Its a picture of my screen, which i thought would show the quality difference more obviously)
I have cropped the same part of the screen in each.

Yep! When you click the images, it says "Vignette" at the bottom.
It's not a bad little app. The interface could really use some work, but, it does its job.
But it is SLOOOW, I have tried that app today and from shutter pressing to saved photo it takes like 5 seconds ! I have puted it on 8 mpix.

Doesn't take that long for me..if you include the time it takes to process the image(which it does in the background) then yeah, it is something like 5 seconds per image
Vignette is super slow here too, that's why I stopped using it. If I try and take a few pics in fairly quick succession it practically grinds to a halt for atleast 30 seconds. Also had a nasty habit of losing images for me.
The se camera does not do this, but, as already stated, it is lower quality. Really need both apps and use whichever is suitable for the task at hand, but this is not a very good compromise.

Awful camera quality

Do you guys experience the same ? Pictures are not sharp, colors are mixed up.
only in darker rooms. outside with sun pictures are looking quite well.
look here: http://www.engadget.com/2010/10/29/htc-trophy-review/
Horrible quality.
As usual with HTC... always these "orange-pink blurry" images.
Nothing compared to the great Omnia 7 camera unfortunately.
Quality is indeed very bad:
Here's a picture taken with my Trophy:
http://img826.imageshack.us/img826/8599/wp000050.jpg
You can cleary see the pink/orange circle in the middle.
I hope they put a better camera in this when it comes across the pond to the us. I don't care about mp I want better quality
Yeah camera quality is quite awful. subpar when outside and when inside it's just horrible.
On another note are any of you noticing the 'GSM radio' sounds on video files you've recorded with the device?

Too much noise. They are OK for a low budget phone, but I don't think that the Trophy is low budget (at least I payed more than 200€!)
Thanks for sharing
I'am having the same issue, only outside with clear weather it makes nice pictures. Also the flashlight is horrible, if you try to make a picture of a person it will always look away from the camera
I'm thinking of getting a trophy but I'm really put off by this pinky orange circle issue - does everybody experience this? Is it a hardware issue or could it be fixed by a future update?
Cheers
I have the red colorisation in the centre of the image also, not too fussed as I never use the phone to take pictures I use my Canon D450, if its that important that you need to use the camera for images then you can fix them images in Lightroom.
I got my HTC 7 trophy (australian stock) and think the camera is outstanding. Definitely the best non-iPhone camera phone I've used. Don't understand what all the fuss is about, really.
I have one and the camera is like my old htc p3600 in outsides when I use the flash the quality of the photo is bad with too much noise and blur.
I hope it is a software poblem and MS correct that in a future version!

Photo quality is really bad

Hy 4 all!
I have CM6.1 with Froyo on my Legend and I use the built-in camera app. My photos are always blurry and like so they were taken in a foggy, cloudy place. I have tried to increase the ISO, Deblur, decrease the lightness, increase the sharpness and etc... but nothing has helped. I think the LED flash is too strong. I dont know what more can I do. Has somebody else this problem? Is there a solution?
Thank you forwards!
Sent from my Legend using XDA App
Unfortunately, the camera sensor on Legend has it's limitation, if you do care the quality of photo you shot, you better carry a DC or a DSLR to solve this problem.
Yes, the flash is way to strong and built too close to the lens I think. The only thing this cam is good for is well lit day time shots. The flash will destroy any picture if used.
Sent from my Legend using XDA App
The flash is good as a flashliht though...I couldn't live without that...
I'm using Stock-like ROM with the original app and the quality is just bad too...
I don't find the Legend too bad, though I've never owned a really good camera so that might be why. I'm happy with the quality tbh, I used the app Vignette with the quality set to 'superfine'.

Well, yes, it can do a good picture while taking shot on a sunny day, although the shot is too light and unbalanced...Also the quality is good because of the resize - look at it in original an you will be surprised
Oh, come on, boys and girls.
What do you expect from a lens as big as a pinhead, a focal distance of maybe 4 mm and 5 mm sensor behind it?
It's good for a snapshot but you woulnd't want your wedding picture being taken with that.
Yeah, I use both Legend and Samsung Fascinate, the Fascinate's camera is much much much better, and flashlight mode is really good. I believe I can take wedding photos with my Fascinate. HTC's camera is never close to "good", always causes pink area on the photo.
Actually none of HTC's phone produce good quality pictures. NONE. I find the quality is acceptable for a phone. If you want the picture perfect quality then I don't think phones will cut it. It is good enough for my use though.

camera image quality very low !!!!

i had the device for 2 weeks and i noticed that the images quality are not good and when zooming it becomes so blured and not acceptable ...... any options or solution to this problem ??
One back up data and factory reset .
No cure = return to seller .
jje
well, how far are you zooming in? It's a "digital zoom" which is a phrase I hate. It doesn't really zoom in, it just crops the picture then enlarges it.

digital zoom is probably the most useless thing ever on cameras
here's just an example of what it's like

let's say we zoom in on his face using digital zoom
it will take just this little portion
and blow it up
great answer viper98
Unfortunatelly most people don't know the diference between optical and digital zooms...
xdafun4all, if you really want to use zoom without sacrificing quality, the best bet, is aproaching the subject you want on the picture, Using the zoom from the Galaxy S2, Iphone, Pixon, N8, or from any other phone (you name it, i doubt there hare phones out there that have optical zoom built in) will not make miracles...

+ Infinite to this.
Digital Zoom = BOGUS.
Yeah even most "high end" point and shoot cameras have **** zooms, even on my 7d I gotta watch for camera shake whilst zooming lol... Tho that's a different story.
Sent from my Samsung Seine
Touch the part of the image you need focus once for better focus and then take the picture without altering the position or the zoom.
Sent from my GT-I9100 using XDA App
Also just in case, check cameras settings, make sure you don't have focus set to macro.
This will most diffidently give you blurry pictures unless they are extreme close ups...
Hope this helps.
MJ-12
As said many times in this thread's 9 posts, digital zoom is pure bull****.Take the photo unzoomed and crop the part you want zoomed on your PC.It's the exact same thing.
The only camera that never gave me problems with digital zooming is my Nikon D7000.It was for testing purposes, there is no point in digital zooming with a DSLR but anyway. That thing costs about 1250 euros and takes photos at 16.6mpx,but that's another story.

Goodle camera: Lens blur problem

Is there a solution to make the Lens blur Google camera feature to work? When I take the picture, I don't even have the time to move the device upwards before getting the "Device moved too fast" warning.
It happens everytime. Well, except once when it has worked for some time, which was strange.
I know, that there is Background defocus in the stock camera, but I like Google camera more.
Any ideas?
Try to use Camera FV-5 or A Better Camera, it is very nice solution.

FV-5 doesn't do filters. This is what Lens blur does:

It is exactly the same as Background-defocus effect in Sony's camera.
unfortunately, the only way to get bokeh (the blurry background) is to actually isolate the background through a software algorithm, hold your finger around 3 inches from your eyes, then slightly tilt your head from side to side you will see that objects from afar moves more than your finger... that is the reason google camera needs you to move, and to do it slowly - moving to fast makes everything move. sony takes at least 2 pictures with lens focusing on different things....
and of course there is a way to optically isolate a background which related to a photography concept - depth of field (which requires you to consider sensor size and aperture)... though limited you can take a close up picture of an object that is very near your camera, that will blur the background, the closer the object of interest to the camera the better thr isolation will be... remember that focusing is actually done on a plane, all objects that are near (in the same plane) the object of interest will be in focus... do a Google search on depth of fiels.
my apologies for the lack of capitalization and sentence fragments.... im wrote all of these on my z2
I understand that, but I get Moving too fast message even before I move at all. Haven't tested it for some time, there were some GCamera updates and I got 4.4.4 now. I'll check again tomorrow, if it works now.
