Incredible on Sprint Network? - Droid Incredible General

I have a Hero currently and would love a faster phone. The EVO is ok but too big for me. I would prefer the Incredible.
I know i can buy one for about $600 price does not matter. However I can not leave sprint. is there anyway known way to get the Incredible to work on sprint with full internet/MMS?
Just to be clear I DONT WANT THE EVO. I want the Incredible. ;-D
Please stay on topic. Im not looking for phone advice.
Thanks in advance!

No. Sprint won't add any ESNs that aren't native to their network.

getting them to register the esn is not an issue.

I would venture to say that if getting sprint to register the esn, your next task would be to flash a sprint prl.
Other than that I would imagine the phone will function with the currently available roms.
Sent from my Incredible using XDA App

I would also need mms settings and internet settings and perhaps apn settings. I know nothing about how to do this yet.
Sent from my HERO200 using XDA App

Of course it is possible and not really that difficult although it does take a few hours to figure it out.
You will have to google for info and it will be scattered throughout the forums.
Good luck!

So if I copy all the NAM1 Settings with something like QPST from my hero And find a way to get them to use the new ESN/MEID Ill be golden..
I guess its time to talk to the Sprint rep.

Why can't you leave sprint? Might be cheaper to just pay the etf ($250 I think, or less depending on how far you are into it), and get the incredible at $200 on contract with VZ instead of the $600 for the incredible to put on sprint.

Welp
If you can stomach Sprint, then grab an EVO 4G and be done with it.

How I miss the days when you could use other cdma phones in vzw (not that i knew how to do it personally, but what are friends for?). Lucky you if youhave someone who will clear the esn for you. If i had connect like that at Verizon I'd totally have an EVO right now

I would Like to Do this also
I want to run an Incredible on sprint also... I am thinking about wiping the Incredible's ESN and replacing it with my Hero's ESN. If I accomplish this then do I also have to flash the PRI on the Incredible ?
Thanks,
Jay

I have an Incredible running flawlessly in Mexico, with Iusacell. It took me probably 5 minutes to get it running, following a Hero guide. You just have to dial ##PROGRAM and input all the changes there, the Incredible has no settings locked down.
I don't know if replacing the MEID(ESN) of the Inc is currently possible, you should check with the CDMA Workshop guys...

Has this been accomplished?
Has this been accomplished yet? I am interested in this as well. Perhaps we can get some steps? I know I don't want to get the EVO for two reasons: 1) the Incredible has an awesome form factor 2) I don't want to pay the extra $10 for 4G when I can't use it/don't need it.

This can be done, like "lamerto" I also have an incredible fully working on the Iusacell network(Mexico) and maybe the most difficult thing to do on this case is activate the meid on sprint(on Iusacell this things are easy) and maybe get the prl (in my case I can even download OTA way)
so the all the rest is a piece of cake, you have a hero, so you only have to read it with qpst, save or just copy all the parameters and then write it to the incredible (even the drivers are the same) and the only thing that is different is the meid (guessing that you're going to use the line that you have on the hero, on the dinc)
that's all this way you can have an incredible working on sprint(maybe you have to copy the mms parameters later, but that can be done even from the phone)
greetings
PD: sorry for my bad english

awesome thread. couple of guys on #htc-evo on freenode
have recommended the hong kong batteries.
I mean really, sprint batteries originate from that part of the world
anyway
luckily i have a spare 1500 battery (official) anyway. need a charger
solution though.

HTC Knight sounds like the Option...

Using on other Carriers (CDMA SPRINT or CRICKET)

Any progress on this possible scenario? I am tired of waiting for SPRINT to come out with their own version?
Spring probably won't be coming out with one because its a phone made specifically for verizon based on the Touch HD
a "solution"...?
well, does anyone know of a esn solution in the works? , i'll love to use this phone on sprint, or even straight talk.

Sprint is coming out with their version, touch diamond 2 cdma. Looks to be next year, but hey don't fret, that's about when the hspl will be ready and you can play more anyway.
I wouldn't bother with messing with the esn, not to mention you will be paying full price for the device, I believe you are stuck with the TP2 or the hero right now. That's the only two devices I would own on sprint.
from what i heard you can call verizon and they will unlock it for you to use with other carriers

Have you heard something specific about this? If so it would be the first scrap of info to that effect. I'd prefer an HD2, but I'll probably go with the TD2 if it comes out first.

They're a little late but I can't find the article now but it looks like they are shooting for Q1 2010. Of course if I were sprint I would 86 the whole project as Verzon would have had that phone 4-6 months already.
Cricket
I have been using the Imagio with Cricket for a while now, and have no problems. The new Proxycap works with my wifi fix. If you don't want to add on the full HTML for an extra $15 a month.
Some of those show the Topaz, and others show the Whitestone.
Oh well, it's probably moot now that it looks like Sprint will be getting the Tungsten, which is like the HD2/Leo with a Keyboard. Probably instead of any of the above, probably calling it a "Business Phone", and probably charging a fortune for it.
does anyone have updated info on the TUNGSTEN? All the info on google is from the JAN 09.... Was wondering when this is coming out? This model doesn't seem to make sense for SPRINT since they have the TOUCH PRO2 already..... I would think customers might not immediately grasp the benefit of a phone like the tungsten?
I want to use a Verizon HTC Imagio on the Alltel Network
Like I said, I have the imagio. I got it from a friend. Verizon has bought out Alltel...not that it really matters other than the fact that alltel is pretty much done getting any cool phones. I want to use it on Alltel. I have been able to get everything to work so far except for MMS and internet sometimes go out or asks for a password. My question. I would like to provision this for alltel. Obviously this doesnt exist officially. I wonder, What if I took a alltel provisioning cab from say a touch pro and used it. Would that work?
Do you have directions on how to provision for cricket. How do you like cricket as a service is it comprable to verizon.
any news for unlock
You have to search, I posted something about this and it does work, I have it on Boost Mobile (Sprint side) but it only connects 1x and NOT EvDO, still trying to figure out how to get it to work on EvDO, I am guessing if I change the ROM it might work? I would need a Sprint Touch Pro2 ROM broadband portion that works on the Imagio.

This Jap radio *WILL* reset your phone so make sure you backup your data before using this! You have to flash the radio back to the US version.

How to "flash" EVO 4G to different carrier

I am in Canada, so my EVO 4G does not work (no Sprint) - how can I "flash" my EVO 4G to Bell, a Canadian CDMA carrier with the same bands as Sprint?
Good luck.
You should be able to roam if yours is the IO phone with the free service.
If you want to use it on another CDMA carrier you need them to have a PRL which has to be on your phone and the ESN needs to be in their DMD (device management database). Am I forgetting anything? I swear I am forgetting something.
So, good luck.

I actually am currently roaming. This is obviously not a long-term solution, because if I was paying for it, the bill would be a few hundred dollars!
I do not know of a way to do this but I do believe that Sprint's Roaming on the Everything pans are free.
DOMESTIC roaming is free. International can be quite expensive.
evo flashing
it can be flashed here in the us to cricket and metropcs, so im sure it can be done for bell as well
Would love to see this flashed to verizon?havin the hd2 on gsm. And the evo on cdma.untouchable.
I doubt it would ever be flashed to Verizon. Verizon would have to allow the ESN into their database, and they just recently locked it down to no longer allow ESN's from other carriers (started with the Touch Pro, I believe) into their database. I'm not sure about Telus' policy on that, but I'm pretty sure if they did allow the ESN onto their database, all you would need to do is load their PRL and you may also have to manually program it, if it can't auto-provision itself...
there are ways to swap your esn. i am not sure about the legality in canada, but i've been led to believe it's illegal in the us. if you had a valid esn in your network, you may be able to swap the esn on your evo to the esn of the other device.
if it's legal in your country.

How can it be flashed to cricket?? I've asked everywhere but no one's pointed me in the right direction yet..
first things first
First you have to see if "EPST" works on android. I know how to do it on winmo, but i don't have an android. if you can get into your EPST you need to know your "MSL" your 6 digit Master Security Lock code. Then you have to change your radio settings. To get to into epst on Winmo you have to dial ##3424# or something like that. Good luck.
Answer
Hello, you can find your answer on my "What is the equivalent of WInMo EPST on Android?" thread.

Actually it can be flashed to both metro and cricket. there's someone selling a solution at mobilefiles
Go to Development thread...there's a download to enable moving to Verizon . Need to get your MSL code from Sprint....tricky one.
Sprint had crap signal in Iowa...switched to full bar Verizon all weekend.
to flash to cricket, load a cricket prl on to the phone, then get them to activate the esn... theres plenty of info on this, google is your best friend for this

Flash EVO to MetroPCS

Hi Guys, I'm trying to see if there has been any luck yet with getting the EVO on metropcs network. I heard that it was possible but didn't know if this was similar to the HERO process or what. Any insight or help in the right direction is greatly appreciated.
im interested to know if it can be put on the boost mobile network!
one sold on ebay on friday. ~1200USD$
I am guessing they hacked the MEID to a known boost acceptable one.
Some people have done it with the Sprint Hero, a few got data working, I think the speeds may have been poor...can't remember. I'm having trouble finding the thread, but I believe you have to make some changes (even on the Hero) through CDMA workshop to get features to work.
Howard Forums has better info on trying to go to a different carrier. http://www.howardforums.com/showthread.php/1443845-BEFORE-YOU-ASK-POST-Read-THIS-if-you-are-a-beginner-amp-have-questions-about-flashing!
Have you called Metro PCS with your ESN and MSL? They should be able to tell you straight up if you can do it the easy way (don't think you can).

Yeah I've heard different things as well as seen proof on a few videos of it being on their network, but metro will not add them just yet so there is modifying involved I guess. I'll search a bit more to see what I find and post back.

Ok,
All I did to get it to work with calls is use the MSL to load the MetroPcs Prl file to the phone. I found a guy in Miami that added the IMEI to the Metro system and activated the phone for $60. That includes the first month of service.
So, now I have an Evo working for calls and text on Metro.
I have no idea how to get the internet working.
Can someone help?

I cant help since I dont have an Evo yet to test but I came across this info that might be relevant before flashing to Metro.
Back in 2007, Metro initially only planned 3g data in 7 different cities: http://www.intomobile.com/2007/12/11/metropcs-planning-3g-service-in-seven-markets.html
Then in January of 2010, Metro decides to skip future 3g deployment in favor of LTE: http://connectedplanetonline.com/3g4g/news/metropcs-4g-leap-0113/
There's a pretty big gap in between these two announcements so I don't know how many markets Metro deployed 3g data since 2007 so I'll have to call them and find out... but I wouldn't want to be stuck on 2g for the rest of the time I had the phone (since they aren't rolling out more 3g and their 4g is LTE and not WiMax)
Feel free to correct me if I am wrong

The EVO Flashed to Verizon

I'm more than likely posting this in the wrong section but it regards to an EVO so I apologize in advance....
Would it be possible to flash a Sprint EVO onto verizons network I want the EVO I looked into the thunderbolt and I think its nothing but garbage just my opinion, I had it for 10 days and it was so bad I went and returned it and went back to my incredible since I don't have 4g in North Dakota it would be an issue I got my MSL code from Verizon. I've seen the EVO on boost and pageplus unfortunately I only have IDEN coverage for boost no cdma or I would just go that route. So would this be possible??? I know there are sites claiming they have the files that will make it work but I'd rather not pay for something that might not work. I know what your thinking why not just switch to Sprint well we don't have coverage here. So my choices are Verizon, AT&T, & Nextel. Nextel is out of the question for the fact I believe its still completely IDEN which means not smartphones except for a blackberry and there is no way I will switch to a blackberry I had a hard time switching from winmo 6.5 to android.

Ugh... That's what I came across in my six hours of searching, but didn't they pass a law in 2006 that made it legal to switch carriers and flash it, since its your device you paid for it you should be able to do with it as you please within reason of course, also would it make a difference if the esn/meid is clean?
I mentioned pageplus in my op its a prepaid company owned by (Verizon) the evil V as I call it lol I know they got it boost which is as we all know is a prepaid company of Sprint which is seeming more and more like the best of the "big 4" soon to be the "big 3"

It is legal to do so, but the carrier has to approve the device and one big thing that won't be approved is the Sprint logo on the front of the device. Also I could be wrong, but for basic network coverage not counting Wimax since Verizon doesn't use Wimax, I believe Sprint and Verizon use different frequencies but I could be wrong.
There was a time when Sprint announced that they will activate any Verizon phone on their network. I can't remember if Verizon sued them, or if Sprint backed out. It was a very huge deal.

Yeah but that's data roaming, little different.
It's possible just a few things you need:
1) Verizon has to approve it for their network
2) You would need your number AND your MIN as well as your cellular email address: it would be something like your10digit [email protected] verizon has for .com
3)Your MSL so you can program the phone for verizon (if you're rooted, MSL Reader from the Market will get that for you)
4)Verizon PRL
My evo is programed for cricket. AND the Evo can be programmed for boost. I went with cricket because there is no grey area there. Just program my phone for cricket, call them up and have them add my Evo's ESN.
Cricket was more than willing to give me the information I needed (MIN is the only thing I needed from them) and I got someone (who i guess works for cricket, one of those cricket forums) to add my ESN to my account. (you don't even have to change the radios, just change the PRL)
I look at it like this, Verizon takes a loss on every phone sold. Well every postpaid carrier does. So I would think they would jump at the chance for you to save them some money while spending money with them in the process.
How would I get them to accept the esn and accept the EVO for their service? I'm on a prepaid account now so I would be paying retail anyway...

Activation on Boost Mobile

I never ask questions like this because I pride myself on knowing everything - or at least being able to piece together an answer. But honestly, I'm tired of searching and trying to make sense out of the data. You are the smartest group of mobile device "All in One" tech types I know. If anyone thinks I am posting this is the wrong place, let me.know.
My Epic Touch 4g is on its last leg from too many experiments. I need to get a new phone tomorrow. It will be either an S4 or an HTC One.
Background info that has me assuming things that may be wrong.
My service is Boost and I've run both Boost and Sprint ROMs with identical functionality.
Boost now sells the s3 with 4gLTE support vs WIMAX. Of my sii
I can't justify leaving Boost if I can help it because I currently pay $40/month for everything including limited "unlimited" data and get great speeds service etc.
On the new phones, I believe most variants have identical hardware including radios and it is controlled by the ROM.
What I need to know...
I assume that I could at least buy the sprint variant of either and activate on Boost. Is that accurate?
Can I buy the Dev version of the HTC or the I9505 S4 and activate it or flash and activate on Boost and still get 4g. If I spend $600 on a phone, I'm not talking about with a donor phone etc. Clean ESN etc...
And finally... What do you guys and girls think about these phones? I've always been a fan of OLED. Are these reviewers on the take, or does the IPS screen really blow away the AMOLED? When I tried both, I immediately thought the LCD suffered from what I would describe as a slower response time... For example, scrolling white boxes on a dark background leaving sort of a white tail behind it... Something I don't see at all on OLED. I am primarily interested the best display and best feel of the swipe. That's all... The rest of the components I'm intimately familiar with. I would prefer the camera on the s4, but that is not as important to me as the display. And not color accuracy... But pleasing. Display display display.
I know that's a lot to ask, so I suggest you all start working on helping me right away. I will remove my pants now and monitor the pub for the flood of answers. General opinions on the phones are welcome as well. I trust you folks more than I trust anyone I've seen review the phones. Except one guy who seemed pretty cool. Ad this one other guy....no... Seriously. I trust you guys the most. And no, it wouldn't be funny to lie to me so I get a crappy phone that won't work on my continent or something. I mean it would be funny... But doing it to me would make it instantly unfunny. Thank you!

Boost will not accept sprint ESN's except for certain older android and feature phones (Examples Samsung Rant and HTC Hero). The only way to get an S4 or HTC One is to flash the phone using a donor phone, by doing this it does not matter the state of the ESN. The only donor phones to my knowledge are 3g phones, we use to be able to flash wimax radio's to a clear account but not is the same for 4g LTE. The S3 is the best phone you can get with 4g LTE at the moment.
Hope this helps

I'm pretty sure this is no longer the case with Sprint MVNOs like Boost. Earlier this year Sprint announced the "Bring Your own Sprint Device" program for MVNOs as part of their green initiative and it is supposed to apply to all Sprint devices with a clean ESN. I was hoping to find someone who has actually done it. If you are 100% certain that it's not possible as of today, please let me know. That would obviously be very important!
