Rebel Simcard need to Re-program our v1.1 cards for free, RebelSim users post here! - Streak 5 General

There are a lot of Rebel Simcard users on XDA and many other sites who have been mis-sold a product.
We were told that it would work with 3G networks and we would be able to use Calls SMS and Data all without interruption.
As all users of Rebel Simcard v1.1 will know...this is not true.
Rebel Simcard have blatently breached the Sale of Goods act 1979 which states:
‘Wherever goods are bought they must "conform to contract". This means they must be as described, fit for purpose and of satisfactory quality’.
These cards do not perform 'as described' so clearly do not "conform to contract".
Please could any v1.1 Rebel Simcard users please show your support by posting your story up on this thread.

For when rebelsim read this my email is [email protected]
I contacted rebelsim last night explaining that I am spending £15 per month for the next 12 months on an o2 sim contract because i had a phone i couldnt use and only bought because they claimed they could fully unlock it with 3g. The least they could do for me is send me a usb programmer, something they sell for £10 (and probably only costs them £2 to produce), after im going to spending £180 on a contract i only took out because of this companies false claims to unlock the streak. I even offered to send them the programmer back at my own cost after using it!
They writ back simply saying
"hi
at most we can offer you a coupon code to get £5 off
rebelsim"
Although they're not just straight out saying they cant help, which they originally did, i still dont feel it appropriate for them to sell me something, for any price, to make something work that i paid £25 pound for in the first place and has cost me a lot of money afterwards.
I would appreciate a reply from rebelsim either through here or my email address above as this is unacceptable!

how about u stop beggin and be happy they even bothered to make an updated firmware for ur phone jesus ..................... they didnt have to

We are not begging at all, where did you make that assumption from?
They didn't have to make an updated firmware for the Rebel Simcard, but what they do have to do is abide by UK law and sell something that works as it was described when sold.

last time i checked the rebelsim page they did list all the faults of the 1.1 fw ... if that would be the matter there would be an uprising , ur asking for something completely different ... like gimme a nvidia gf480 cuz u bought an 280 (as if they were identical in hw witch they arent but the rebelsims are)

The Dell Streak Rebel Simcard page definately said it would work with 3G, there were also multiple emails where they said it would work with 3G

I'm ditching rebelsim 1.2 seems i cant recieve calls in 3g mode. Maybe 1.3 will fix that

My rebel simply works fine... No problems at all sending/receiving call or SMS, not not had a problem using 3G ether. I do have to take it out and register with the network every so often in another phone but for 25 quid you get what you pay for... Stop complaining and buy an unlocked streak if its that much of an issue!

Well there are some of us for whom the Rebel Simcard does not work as described when sold.
This is against UK law, specifically The Sale of Goods Act 1979.
The buyer of any item covered by UK law is entitled to have it working as described when sold.
I and others like me feel we are well within our rights to complain about this matter.
To this end, Rebel Simcard have seen their error and are now re-programming everyones Rebel Simcard v1.1 for free.

I purchased the rebelsim card1.1 a few weeks ago after reading on there web site that it would work with 3g,but after putting it in and using it for a few days ,it just lost service and would not work at all, complete and utter waste of time and money,do not buy one, just get an unlocked streak, and save yourself the grief,i paid with paypal so put in a complaint to paypal and got my money refunded including postage,so my advice is stay well clear of the rebel sim cards for the streak,it is not worth it,just get an unlocked streak.

XDA 11 for £475 without airtime connection

If the owners of this forum think this is not appropriate then please accept my apologies, and remove this post
Today we was informed of our prices for the XDA 11, And from this we can sell them for £475 + VAT (and carrage if needed) they will sim free ( you do not need to sign a air time contract ) But the phones are genuine o2 phones so they will be locked to o2, I have read messages from people on here getting them unlocked for £15. If this is the case i will of corse get them unlocked and sell them proper sim free for use for any sim.
Thanks John
propper sim free = NEVER EVER BEEN LOCKED SINCE RELEASED FROM FACTORY also never had a sim or contract with them
where bouts you from mate and have you got physical stock?
gaz
yes these are sim free as in no sim card is included, no need to sign a air time agreement, but they locked to o2 so they will only work the o2 sim
we are near Maidstone in Kent
we are are small independed phone shop, we have been told its a 3 day item, but i ordered one today for Saterday/Monday delevery, and as soon as it sells we will order another, we have to pay for our stock when we order and i dont like to tie up loads of money in just one product
as to the unlocking i am going to try and get mine unlocked tomorow, As i would rather sell them Proper Sim Free then i can ship them anywhere in the world and know people will be happy with them
So you want money up front?
no not at all.
i will only sell what i have in stock like any normal shop, payment could be in cash or crdit card if you collect it, or credit card if you wish to do it as mail order.
As i said earlier we are only a small shop we are not looking to hold probley more than 1 or 2 depending on how it goes in stock, BT would rather we sell them with airtime , but as we are paying for them sim free the choice is up to us what we do with them.
We are not looking to sell hundreds and hundreds of them sim free, but i have seen a few people on here asking for them without having to sign air tim contracts, .... And i use the forum for info and its just my way of hopefully helping a few people in need of one to get one , and a little ( and i mean little) bit of profit for us
John
Further to my previous post i would rather people emailed me with ther phone number and as soon as i have stock i will contact them ( in the same order as i recieve the emails asking for them) and sell that way as i fully understand that prople would not like to pay someone that kind of money up front to someone they dont know.
Thanks
John
I will be intrested but only simlock free since I live and use it in the Netherlands. Let me know if you get the simlock removed, I cannot do it from here.

Rebel sim problems

Hi
has anyone used a rebel sim yet - im trying mine on a streak (o2) obviously, with a vodafone card. All it does is flash up the dell logo and then reboot....are there different types of rebel sim also.....the chip on mine is to one side whereas all of the videos that ive seen show it as being in the middle so have i got the right one??
thanks to anyone that chips in...
on rebelsim's site they have a specific section for the dell streak, or if you have a generic or older rebel sim they have a programmer dongle to change the mode of the rebel sim chip

I think you have the wrong rebel sim buddy, the only i have has the little black chip at the top in the centre....
Cant see how it would stop your device from booting up though unless it is short circuiting the bootprocess somehow?
well, as i said earlier (or in another post) they were un helpful, pretty abrupt and theres no where on their site that i can find to get a swap out/returns address. (unless any one can find the link).
Its not so bad anyway as the guy that i bought it from told me that he bought it outright and has applied to o2 for an unlock code and has chased it up and has been assured that he should have one anytime soon....fingers crossed.
I hope he gets one because he will be the first.....

dont bother with paypal they turned me down flat
why isnt possible unlock with program or other method?
Well, not out of the woods yet....the guy i bought it from had a mail back from o2 this morning. They basically said that theyre not prepared to unlock it (even though he bought it outright) for 3 months from the purchase date, so, technically ive got to wait until the start of september. He's obviously complaining and im trying to ask a favour of our o2 sales rep ( we use a corporate blackberry server, phones and dongles through them at my workplace ) - he's put the request in but said "have to see what comes back..."
Fingers still crossed....at its worst ill have to wait 6 weeks for a code...but i cant see what the hassle is as he bought it outright in the first place.

Streak sim unlock?

Hi guys just a bit of advice needed...
I have a o2 streak, but i want to use it on my other networks, should i wait a while for an unlock solution cos apparently the rebel sim doesnt work??
I just want to check if anyone even knows if unlocking the device is even possible? will we ever have it unlocked? And more to the point is anyone even trying to unlock it?
well, straight from the horses mouth...ie o2 is that they wont unlock a contracted phone for a 12month stint and a bought outright one (3 months) - ive just got mine from a guy that bought his outright (start of june) and got told he cant have a code til the start of sept - im currently going down another route to get the code from "a bloke i know..."
So it really depends on how you bought yours....
I bought a dell streak on ebay, And i am using an o2 payg sim in it, that i have had since dec 2009,i have applied for an unlock code from o2 by filling in there online form,as i have purchased the streak outright ,will i get it unlocked as stated in above thread, thanks.
Pretty slim my friend. If its a contract one youve got no chance - they wont unlock it for a year (i think thats already been said). Ive got a few irons in the fire at the moment, ill let you know what happens with mine once ive got my code (hopefully)

It actually means either
1. get a pay as you go o2 SIM
2. get an o2 compatible SIM
3. Get a rebel SIM
4. Pray for an unlock code
I did 3 and am currently doing a lot of 4 ;-)

we have a chance to come out code?
I believe that O2's position with the unlocking of SIM-free and pre-pay Streaks isn't actually legit.
Ofcom's guidelines are that O2 can only refuse to unlock the phone until they've recovered any subsidy offered on the phone - in the case of the SIM-free and and pre-pay versions that amounts to £0 and £30 respectively against the cost direct from Dell.
I would call O2 customer service and ask for the unlock code (they can ask for a reasonable fee for this). If they refuse tell them that you'll be reporting them to Ofcom and open a complaint with Ofcom (http://www.ofcom.org.uk/) if enough people do it I suspect they'll relent and do what they're legally obliged to do.
As far as the contract Streaks are concerned, they are within their rights to refuse to unlock for 12 months, but as they're getting their pound of flesh through contract payments whatever happens to the phone I can't see their justifcation for refusing...
Hope this helps...

O2 will not be unlocking Streaks for the forseeable future, that is fact whether you have filled in a form or spoke to a CSA who says thet they can do it....it will not happen

Hi
I have the dell streak, and am on vodafone UK ,i just received the rebelsim card 2 yesterday and put it in my streak, seems to be working fine with my vodafone sim,i am on a vodafone contract, all i did was put my vodafone sim card in an old nokia ,that does not have 3g,to get signal, and then put it in my streak with rebel sim and vodafone sim card ,seems to be working great, if you buy the rebel sim for the dell streak just now, they are giving you a free case for it,and a free screen protector, and if you enter the code "Rebel" during checkout you get an extra 5 percent off the total price,i paid £14.50 including postage in the uk the free case is quite cheap made, but for free,it will do until i find a better one i was a bit wary about getting the rebel sim at first, but now i am using it with vodafone uk and it works fine,so go for it

HI
Yes you get 3g but sometimes you can lose signal/service/just put it back to 2g in the streak, and it comes back no problem,i can receive texts and calls no problem give it a try, you have to keep data roaming on as well to get the 3g i think, something to do with the way the rebel sim unlocks the streak
Do you have to put the sim back into a 2G phone and then back in the streak. Or can you just set the Streak to 2G and then back to 3G?
Somehow vodafone 3g can work on Dell Streak with rebel sim. Im on 3 and no 3g with rebel sim. I dont want to stay with O2 so hence the sale of my Dell Streak, waiting for the unlocked one price go lower so I can afford one

Dell Streak Unlock with rebel sim v1.2 working 100% no3g issues.

Hi guys loving my dell streak at the moment !!!! thought id contribute back to the forum as ive gained so much from here.
Purchased my Dell streak on O2 in the UK as you will all know theyre sim locked and o2 will not give give out the code during your contract. so after looking around for a unlock solution went for rebelsim V1.2 after calling the rebel support team in the uk.
I know there were issues with V1. and 3G coverage but the V1.2 is working 100% with 3g coverage and ive not found any other issues. Phone seems to think its unlocked , easiest unlock solution ive come acrosss and apparently the rebel sim can be reused with other phones if you get the programmer.
So overall a great experience for me. Not bad for a unlock solution that costs only a few beers.
The guys at rebel are helpful and seem to know their stuff. Thumbs up from me.
I use 3 network myself and when i topped up the other day the lady behind the counter siad that in the next 2 weeks if you top up with £15 you get 500mb data instead of the 150mb you get now
I'm selling one for $25 including shipping within North America, PM me for details. I will preload it with 1.3, beat the wait from shipping it from the UK

For all those who can't get a free unlock code from O2

hi all,
It seems like there are a few of you that cannot get free code from O2. I have not tried this option, but got an email from Rebel Sim today. Check it out:
http://dellstreakunlock.com/dell-streak-remote-unlock-code-reader-software.html
It seems like you can get your code from this software.
Like I've said, I have not tried it yet, but for those of you are desperate enough, you can give it a go and then reply us how you go with it.
cheers
I think you should pay for it first and tell the rest of us if it works
Welcome
Unfortunately, a colleague is right, since it is a paid service. A friend took this sim-lock even though it took him about four hours of fun. Of course you can pay extra for help in removing it.
Sorry for my bad english

lol....mine is already unlocked by O2....just trying to tell those who can't get the codes from O2 some extra options
I filled out a form online (o2 website, a link found in modaco) on Sunday and i got the unlock code on Monday morning, within 24 hours.
Very very impressed. worth a try and try again until you get it.
I just could not give them the phone number from the O2 network which has been used before because I bought it on the internet so sure a method will not work. They just need to secure a number that the phone was not stolen. I just bought a license from them because I got bored rebelsim II and wants to have Froyo and confirm that everything works in addition to promoting the cost is 19.99 pounds. I recommend
Got my code on eBay
I tried Rebel software and it sucks. Had to mess with ROM, which is not user friendly unless you know what you are doing. I looked at some unlocking websites and didn't find anything until I went to eBay. Got my code there for $74 and had it 2 days later in my email.
I used the rebel service and it worked! everything ok!
I submitted the web form last night and had my unlock code emailed by o2 at lunchtime today! I honestly thought it wouldn't be thst easy.
I nearly bought the software and licence from rebel sim people ... Glad I didn't now. If you got an o2 locked streak then use the web form
