Could somebody please send/attach/upload the original keyboard from 1.6 please? - Streak 5 General

I am currently using the 2.1 leak which came out yesterday. Though it's not perfect and there are minor problems here and there, the main problem is the keyboard and for me it's not usable and I suffer everytime I have to use it!
Several others also agreed with me the new keyboard is wack, unresponsive and is very slow.
Is there any way somebody can get the original stock keyboard from the original 1.6 release and upload it somewhere so I could replace it with the current one?
I really love the old keyboard and was used to it, really loved the fact it also has a numpad which makes logging into ebay/hotmail far easier & quicker.
Lastly, should someone be kind enough guide me through replacing the NEW keyboard with the old one, as in WHERE to put the file in the streak, which folder.
Thanks in advance

It wont run on 2.1.
It just crashes.

A Keyboard that has all these requirements:

Ok i know many people are in love with the hero keyboard but the problem is the lag. i stopped using it because when i type in landscape mode it just becomes so laggy, it would type and it would take forever for it to catch up. but the thing i love about it, i can use the trackball to select the correct words. there are some "optimized" HTC_IME's that disable the autocorrection but thats stupid, i need the autocorrection. i tried the default keyboard and i actually like it, BUT i cant select words with the trackball, that is important to me. so what keyboard does these things:
1) no lag
2) has autocorrection
3) able to select words with the trackball
4) saving words you enter into dictionary and suggest it first
So basically a "betterkeyboard" with trackball selection.
ive tried betterkeyboard, but it doesnt give me the option to select the autocorrect word, or scroll through them with my trackball, i gotta use my finger and its uncomfortable like that. can anyone recommend an alternative if there even is one? thanks!

HTC default Keyboard on Cyanogen ROM
Hello I’m using the MoDaCo-sapphire Hero image on the MT3G, and it is painfully slow. I was wondering if the default HTC keyboard is usable on any of the Cyanogen builds. If so can anyone point me in the right direction to add it to Cyanogen 4.2.5? I love using any variant of the Hero builds, but they lag, are resource hogs, and my battery becomes mush. I just love their default keyboard which is easier to use, and it should be even faster on a lean ROM such as Cyanogens. Thanks.

Here's the link to the keyboard. Just download it and install it using an app installer. The keyboard is pretty fast, but as the OP said, it lags, but not as bad as hero roms.

yes this is the same one that is giving me issues. man i really wish the betterkeyboards had a scroll selection. any other opinions before i call it quits?
perhaps someone can explain to me how i can install an HTC_IME that has been optimized by eugene. its in his latest ROM, i successfully extracted it but it wont install. im sure i can do it through adb, anyone have the codes?
a suggestion...
I found another one recently which I believe is better with less bugs than betterkeyboard... its called "asoftkeyboard" its free on market... and its got almost every language support...
betterkeyboard started giving me bugs depending on roms and stuff so i tried this.. and absolutely love it... keys are kind of small though...
but try that guys...

Just thought I'd ask - which rom are you using? I don't get any lag with HTC IME.
You should really check out TouchPal from Cooltek. It has all functions you requested.

Love my HD2 after sensitivity .CAB

I have all the bugs reported here and hate HTC for making all of us beta tesers. But the worst problem was actually it being useless for typing. The sensitivity .CAB really improved my HD2 experience. Still I dont get capital letters after each dot though, but its not that big irritation. Its a wonder why HTC choose to have this terrible service.
Is there a chance you could post it here? The rapidshare link does only work for paying customers atm
I found the capitalization issue to be because of HTC messaging when using a LEO based ROM on my Diamond 2. Removing/disabling HTC messaging and going back to Windows Messaging also removed that problem..... perhaps you can try that...
Also, if you do revert back to WM messaging app, you should be able to use Advanced Config 3.3 to set the sms sent notifications back on again.
Google "Remove HTC messaging"... the first post from XDA Developers will lead you to how to do this....
A direct cab link to the sensitivity cab can be found in post 2 of the hints and tips thread. it's a non RapidShare link. Also if you upgrade yo the new 1.48 ROM, the sensitivity of the keyboard has already been applied.
Missed that one, thanks!!
im typing.on my hd2 keyboard now and i find personally that this is the most fustrating keyboard ever created. the oversensitivity is just retarded and i dont understanf
d how they could release it this way. sometimes i press one key and end up with 5 charactrrs on screen.it is impossibke to write one message without making a mistake.
that feels good now ive let off some steam
ive seen above that the new rom fixes the sensitivity but i was about to install it but it says that it might remove some programs. im in the united kingdom and got this phone with tmobile. if i do the rom upgrade will i lose any programs like office, wifi router etc or anything else?

It's truly terrible out of the box but try this tweak:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=604831
Select the HTC_touchscreen_fix_v3.2_with_reduced_sentitivity.cab, install and then do a soft reset. Much better.
After a week of use, I am typing faster on my Leo with FingerKeyboard (with this 'silly' and 'oversensitive' screen) and making less mistakes than I was on my Blackstone with EnergyROM WM6.5, FingerKeyboard and increased screen sensitivity.
I am a bit apprehensive of upgrading from 1.43 ROM if the screen sensitivity has been lowered in newer versions.

I wouldn't bother upgrading ROMs until a definitive release is made. There isn't much to choose between the ROMs at the moment, none of them address the major shortcomings of the handset. Just install a few tweaks and wait patiently for a decent ROM to arrive. My opinion of course, YMMV etc.
guys, try my test version. please give me feedback after some time of using it. not 1 min.
thank you

The 1.48 ROM has all the stuff that some network providers take out, so if you've currently got an O2 or T-mobile ROM it will add programs, not remove them.

Sense UI elements on AOSP?

I am running darchstars AOSP2.1 ROM and I have two questions for any enterprising devs, if they have time or can tell me the way to do it.
1)I went from using the stock keyboard to betterkeyboard back to the HTC keyboard. In better keyboard you can adjust the vibration for each keypress to be short, is there a way I can change the HTC keyboard to that as well? I'm not afraid of the command line, but I have no idea where I might start with this.
2)I much prefer the HTC dialer app, with the smart dialing. Is there a way to use that instead of the stock android dialer, or a different dialer replacement that has similar functionality?
Thanks again for any responses!

Basically what you want is Gumbo Bare on 2.1?
I'm also interested in this. I'm playing around with an Odroid running AOSP 2.1, I've gotten google bits to run on it, I found a package that includes the framework etc, and works exactly like it should. Very easy to install.
Finding a similar package for senceUI would be of interest to me.
The ability to take a vanillia AOSP add any flavor I want, google bits, SenceUI, Moto Blur... or anything else would be very nice IMO. Instead of the current... I like this rom because it has.... but I wish it had..... Put it together like lego blocks.

Well, not really. I'm looking for a way to edit the HTC keyboard haptic feedback if there's a way, and to find a replacement dialer for any AOSP ROM since I personally don't like the stock one. The keyboard is a little more important to me, but I was just hoping somebody might know what I'm looking for.

Swype ??

New owner here.... Does the HD2 TMobile have it ?? I can't find it on my phone. If it's not on there is there an option to get it.
Thanks
Next to the keyboard image there is an arrow, click that and select Swype.
try that

or this the original one that came with the hd2 which is alot less buggy http://rapidshare.com/files/371694263/Swype.CAB.html
The 2.13 ROM has the best version of Swype ever made to date. I'd suggest using it, as it was made for the TMOUS ROM anyway, and it works better and looks better.

+1.
I <3 the new swype
anyone have the cab for this new tmo swype?
can anybody confirm wether the tmous version of swype is stable on a european HD2?
i can't get the new one from the 2.13 rom to work on my euro leo, even though i'm on a tmous based cooked rom.
it doesn't install a program files folder, but it does install a appmgr folder, and doesn't show up in sipchanger or in the keyboard swapper menu.
Latest Swype to be released: http://rapidshare.com/files/387682993/Swype-LordYuz-3.19.20.20.6343.CAB

swype
here you go guys.. made specifically for hd2 with landscape support..
works perfect on my hd2
Newer version
3.9.10.10.5032 by Lord Yuz was a great release as it resolved the pin code issue for many however it still had flaws such as long key pressing for alternate character.
Mid March LordYuz released the newest Swype (version 3.19.20.20.6343) for the HTC and its much better. Still same to look at however the long key press actually does work EVERY time, it has vibration and sound for keytapping, double tapping for editing words now work in addition you can still use the swype key, and as mentioned it doesnt change your device ID having to make many hard reset their phone.
You can get this version here http://rapidshare.com/files/387678888/Swype.v3.9.20.20.6343-LordYuz.CAB.

swype for original hd2
Pls I would like if wich is the righ version for my original hd2 (manila 2.5.19211619.0 rom 1.66.408.1 it), if it is multilingual (italian) and, in the end, if there're some problems.
thks
Does anyone else find 3.19 much slower than 2.0 though? Especially with a contact with lots of messages, words take a lot longer to appear!

That would be nice. I tried tapping the SYM key but the only language showing up is EN.

Multiple versions of Swype?
Can anyone tell me if they have managed to have more than one release of Swype on their phone?
I am currently trying to evaluate two different versions but attempting to install the second one is not possible as I am being prompted to remove the existing Swype program before I can install the second one.

well it's mentioned in the help file. use SYM key and select language... But when I do this the only choice it gives me is english. Are no other languages implemented? If so is there a way to add them ? And if so how can this be done? Using a supplementary cab file? Where can I get such cab file?

[Q] Android 2.3 keyboard

Do somebody successful install android 2.3 keyboard (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=9634274) on htc legend?

Working just fine on CM 6.1, but the buttons are WAY too small. Sad, coz it looks realy nice.

How did you managed to install to CM 6.1?
I used ROM manager to flash and it didn't work...
I did the exact same thing and it worked. Keys are a little smaller, but it's just as usable to me as the last one. it's looks a lot nicer though, so she stays. No multi touch though, as I thought it would have.

I suspect it needs 2.3 APIs for multitouch.

I can't explain why but my keys got bigger after flashing CM6.1 stable.
I did whipe when going from nightlies to stable but somehow the keyboard remained.
This is the result:

It is, but not by much. For example when you hold period you get a popup with all the commonly used punctuation marks. Same with the smilies, and with the top row of letters (showing numbers and accents, much like in the standard cm keyboard).
I actually like the smaller key size, as I can see more other stuff on screen when I type. I also somehow find it works just as accurate, even though it's harder to see where my finger actually lands.
The biggest thing is it looks a lot nicer, with the suggestions in a black background box in orange letters...nice!
Only thing is I have to teach it all my (swear) words again >_<

HTC_ime also does this. From what I read the only added feature seems to be multitouch (which I'd find awesome), but then I'd lose gestures.

The HTC_ime mod has gestures (and a number of other extra features). It's a lot better than the stock keyboard imo.
