Closer to the tower I was under 8mb.... In other places in town I have gotten consistent 6mb+
Of course at my house (about 2mi from the tower that gave me 9mb) I get nothing..... but it's not too far away

Damn, wish had 4G here. To bad that won't be until like 2025 considering there isn't 3G at my house.
Sent from my HTC Evo 4G using XDA app.

i can normally pull a constant 7mbs in kc! and have seen up to 9!!

I've seen spikes during speed tests of up to 10.5 in KC, but it settled back around 9.5. Zip code 66210 I normally have been seeing 5-7 megabits down and 1 up.

I cannot get it at my flippin house, but I can 4 blocks down the street. 66202 zip

I can't get 4G inside anywhere in KC. Anyone else? Outside no issues at all though.

These worked REALLY well.

i can pull 6mbs up north of the river sometimes even 8-9

Yeah I was over in Independence (KC Area) one day sitting in a parking lot and I was getting 6's and 7's down. But I my house I barely get a regular Sprint signal.

Damn - no luck. Guess I'll just have to wait until the signal is stronger down this far south.
Thanks for the help guys!

Actually, i went about 1/2 mile north this afternoon and got 4g indoors for the first time ever! And full bars to boot! Thanks for the help guys!

got this standing in a drive way in Olathe
At my work in O.P. - Indoors - just recently we are getting 8-9 - I even hit 10 once...
when i first got the EVO we were only getting 3-4 indoors or anywhere for that matter
-
FTR I can only get 4g Indoors in my house on the top floor next to a window..
let me know if there is a KC EVO meet up

Not in KC, but still in Missouri here. In STL I've hit 9.5Mbps max down, with an average around 7.5Mbps.
Too bad I have to drive north 60 miles to pick it up
Oh well, I'll have it eventually, I'm in a (relatively) good sized market to Sprint, and I'm in a bubble of 3G thats ~30 miles wide that theres nothing on either side of but north to STL. I'll get it before some people but not early.

Sprint 4g speed increase effective now!

Without knowing about this, I did a few 4g speed test in my area cause I like to see how 4g is doing since I can't catch it at home.
Well I cranked out 1500kbps on the upload every test. I knew something was up so I google it and found this source to confirm my own findings. I will attach test results from my device.

Probably well deserved. There was a big discussion whether it did or didn't happen. Lots of screen shots of people getting it and other people not. Then it was decided that it's all based on how well you get signal to begin with and then everyone went back to what they were doing. The downside to having good devs is that you forget to sit around and talk about how much fun you're having. I do like that photos go up super fast now. I've never been as worried about the upload/download speeds as I maybe should be. I like the speed/price combo we have on this phone and with our service. Sorry if I came off as a douche.

Really the problem is that almost every thread gets derailed so even if you get lucky with search you end up having to weed through pages and pages of off topic discussion. It is entirely possible to have a 20 page thread with about 10 posts of actual information. Also, all of these "I'm leaving" and "Evo 3D is better than Epic" threads end up making it harder to find what you are actually looking for. Everyone gets a little awnry when we are on the cusp of a new official release. It was the same way before EC05 dropped. Once official GB drops things will hopefully settle down for at least a few weeks before we start seeing the "When will we get Ice Cream Sandwich?" threads.

In davenport iowa I have to literally stand next to the tower but I got two bars and 4mbps down. I'm in orlando now and it pulls 3mbps down average and I get at least 1 bar inside everywhere I've been except when I lay on the floor.

Getting 5800/500 here in northern NJ. I wish upload could be better but I'm not complaining.
Get 4500-4800 down and 1200-1550 up inside with one bar in denver.
Outside will go as high as 7500 regularly and once my buddy and I (on his phone unfortunately) hit the mythical 10000 mark, but have never repeated.

[Q] Extremely low 3G speed in Bay area?

Hi There,
I'm in south bay area (San Jose, Mountain View). Recently I started to check my 3G speed using SpeedTest.net app. I usually get around 100kbps down and up. The highest down I got today is 130kbps. Is it normal? I saw others can get 500k or even > 1M. If you are in the same area, would you please post your speedtest results? Thanks!
Welcome to Sprint's "blazing fast" network. I haven't gotten above 100kbps since last November. Before that, I would pull 2mbps easily.
Jealous of you guys pulling 100kbps. In downtown Omaha, NE....I am lucky to hit 24kbps on Sprint's blazing fast unlimited network.
Good lord, and I thought I was getting slow service, but I get at least 1-1.5mbps typically. Used to be significantly faster. Sprint's Vision plan really needs to get into action.

I had the same problem a couple of weeks ago, where my phone wouldn't get above 200kbps, no matter where I was in town. Doing a profile and PRL update didn't do anything, so I called up Sprint to see what was up. Nothing wrong with the towers, so they transferred me to a higher level tech. I was thinking "uh-oh" at this point, because I'm running Synergy RLS1. She had me reset some stuff, so the phone would go through hands-free activation and check for a PRL update. It didn't work exactly like she expected, I still didn't mention the custom ROM Had to enter my phone #, and another phone # manually to get it to work. After clearing the browser caches for some weird reason, boom, it runs like normal again. PRL remained the same, but oddly my profile email address was different. It had been the same email for at least a year now, maybe longer.
What is the normal speed? Thanks!

Anyone seeing improved 3G speeds?

With the start of Sprint's "Network Vision" multi-modal cell site build out, I, like many others are hoping that means faster 3G speeds.
I understand coverage will improve, theoretically speed should too. It's still very early on in the new development, but has anyone seen faster speeds?
I haven't seen any improvement. I don't think many are. Check out the boards on sprint's website. Nothing but negative vibes.

My speeds in NC had been 1Mb/s and faster until late last week, now they are always less than 400Kb/s Down and 30Kb/s Up. Tonight it's much slower on the download side. Sprint really has to kick NV in to high gear or lose a lot of customers soon.

Me too but I'm in the middle of nowhere sharing a tower with about 20 houses in its range after 1am til about 5am I can get over 3mbps. We just had an infrastructure upgrade and a new tower in the last week cuz some dumbass truck driver fell asleep at the wheel and smashed thru the tower. Last night I had 2.2mbps upload and 4.1 down while tethering according to my network monitor
Edit: and I was on 3g cuz we don't have 4g yet, apparently they put the hardware in while replacing the tower but have not activated it for use yet. Although on a few occasions I have been able to connect to 4g in the last week probably while Sprint had it powered for "testing"
Edit 2: I just checked and have been upgraded to PRL: 60683

Is Wimax actually getting better in your area?

Is it my imagination or are speeds improving as more power users abandon the Evo for non-Wimax devices?
I'm now getting 8 megs in a place where I was barely able to connect a year ago.
(Network Vision rollout probably has something to do with this, I know, but I still believe it has to do with fewer users overall..)
And my best reception area has improved from 8 to over 10.
sub-80ms ping times don't hurt either..

I'm still getting about 3mbps. I live around Dallas. Yesterday my 3G jumped from ".1mbps to about 1.5 though. It's back to going slow today
I don't need no stinking signature
Actually, you're right to mention the flip side of improved 4G: rapidly deteriorating 3G. Maybe a lot of Evo LTE power users are saturating their local 3G networks waiting for Sprint to light up LTE in their areas. Cause around here at least it's just getting ridiculous. See screen shot - can you guess which speeds are 4G and which ones are 3G?

Around Austin I can get 6-9 mps on the average. Speeds are awesome for me its just the fact that connection cuts in and out randomly.

At work 2 miles north if home I have full 4G coverage and have gotten ridiculous 20mbps speeds before. At home though it is fair to poor reception with an average of 4-5mbps, when I can connect. 3g has been horrible the past 4 months here all around. Good reception at work, no reception at home (thank god for my airave), bad speeds everywhere. Vision is supposed to be live shortly, we'll see if that makes any difference.

I guess so...it just isn't consistent with those speeds. One test rendered 10mbps and the very next was 5. 5 has always been the average here in Nashville, Tennessee.
I live in the heart of my city and its suppose to have 4g, I don't get it at home. If I travel 11 miles to work in the burbs I get 4g.
I haven't noticed wimax speeds increase but I have seen 3g get a boost. Hopefully that means wimax is next as lte is getting setup.

I get for 4G everywhere in the Twin Cities metro area but the speed seems to vary a lot
