Keyboard Keypress Sound Volume Control - Nexus One General

Is there any way to control the sound volume for the keyboard keypress independently from the Media Volume? I can't believe Google didn't think about this, especially in Froyo.

Adjustable via the system volume control - bugs the hell out of me

Use a better keyboard like HTC IME or Better Keyboard or Smart Keyboard.
They all let you adjust how load the keyboard tick sound is

I've found a problem with this related to using navigation. If you set the keyboard volume at a sensible level then use navigation and increase the navigation volume it also increases the keyboard volume. When you exit navigaation it does NOT reset system volume so its annoyingly loud forcing you to readjust it manually. They should fix that in navigation but its been like that for at least 6 months. The fix I use is to get Sound Manager from the market and set a schedule to adjust the system sound how I want it at the start of every day. At least that way it starts out normal each day. Def a fix is needed for this.

Jog Dial won't control volume anymore

I installed PQzII to map the various buttons and I am very happy with it overall. The volume control convert feature in the program didn't work though and I guess it messed up my Jog Dial. It won't control in call volume anymore and it also won't silence the ringer now. It still scrolls in web pages and menus though. Does anybody know how to reassign the volume functions? I'm sure a hard reset will do it, but I just got everything set up the way I wanted.

Volume Control using Scroll wheel?

Hi,
I used to have a T-mobile MDA for 2+ years and I'm very acustomed to simply sliding a button up/down in order to increase/decrease ringer volume ( I simply hold it down for a few secs and it goes to slient).
I just got my HTC and find that the scroll wheel wants to scroll items on my "today" screen...instead of controlling the volume!!
Is this standard or is there a way I can have the scroll wheel control the Ringer?
i too want to know how to do this!
Anyone have any ideas on this? It's my only gripe left on the XV6800 and I've searched for quite a while trying to find any resolution.
If you open up the speaker icon, you can then use the scroll wheel to adjust the volume settings. Believe you can aslo adjust the volume with the scroll wheel when the phone is ringing.
Any better solutions than this?!
I'm not sure about it. One day out of nowhere my Mogul started using the scroll wheel as the volume control, even when I had programs opened (contacts, PIE, etc..) that I would use the scroll wheel with, it controlled the volume. It opened up the menu and would raise/lower, put into vibrate/silent. I don't remember installing any applications or anything, but I lost functionality of it as a volume control after just a soft-reset. I personally thought it was annoying trying to scroll through 175+ contacts and having the volume slider pop up instead.
I would assume there's some sort of background application you can acquire that allows this, but I haven't found one yet.
I was annoyed that the wheel doesn't control volume at will so I downloaded S2U2 (slide to unlock) and that program comes with a master volume control for the phone volume and in-call volume. I set it to one of my buttons on the left, its awesome.

[Q] -- Lower Keyboard Volume ????

Hey guys,
I would like to have typing sound effects but at a lower volume. The only way to do this is by lowering the volume from the side button, but this affects the whole phone and I have to change it every time I send a message.
Is there a way I can let the keyboard volume to be low by default ?
Thanks.
Doesnt anyone else want to know that as well ?
not sure if this is what you mean:
settings > menu > all settings > sounds and notifications
you can choose between soft and loud for screen tabs.. default is loud..
just tested but it's not what you mean sorry...
you can set the ring and system volume seperatly then at least your ringtone will stay the same.. but an inconvient thing is it always adjust the ringtone by default so it takes an extra tap to adjust the sytem volume..
Yeah its for screen taps and not the keyboard
Thanks for replying anyway !!
Anyone please ?
As far as I'm aware, there's no way to do this. You can either have the tapping sounds on or off but not on but quiet.
The closest I can think of would be to turn off single volume (Settings>Sound & Display>Single Volume) and then turn your system sound down but this will obviously affect more than just the keyboard tapping sound.

Aw thats unfortunate, one make like to adjust the keyboard tapping volume
Well anyway thanks for replying
mine is set to vibrate (apparenlty by default).. probably drains some battery power but maybe a good substitute for the keyboard sounds? anyway I like it..
or maybe you can find the soundfile for the keyboard in de windows folder (if it is a file) and replace it with a less volume recorded one (or edit it in a sound editor)

I found this a couple of days ago. Probably the SINGLE MOST USEFUL mod to the factory default Sense there is. With dual-volume control, it defaults to System first instead of Ring Volume.

But then again, lowering the System Volume also lowers music / movie / program volume so maybe its a short-term alternative.

No sounds with audible selection on

As the title says, i cannot hear clicks when selecting anything anywhere nor can I hear key clicks on any keyboard. All volume settings are at max. Other sounds like notifications and MP3 work fine.
I have this same issue. Everything else works fine but I can barely..... hear selections with all volumes maxed out.
I had this problem on my HTC EVO 4G.
Download AudioManager from the Market. (It's free)
It's by developer Smart Android Apps, LLC.
Raise the "System Volume" and see if it works.
That worked. Why can I not adjust the system volume outside this app?
It's dumb, I know. My EVO would not let me do it either until I downloaded the app.
Yeah that is a bit dumb.... Thanks a bunch.
Ok so in Settings under Sound then volume the three levels only do the following:
The First volume bar represented with a speaker icon adjusts only the Music Level(Instruction books says that this volume bar should adjust the system Volume level.)
The Second volume bar represented with a Bubble with Exclamation in it adjusts both the Alerts and Ringer Volume.
The Third Volume bar represented by an alarm clock or course only adjusts the alarm volume.
Also, The volume rocker only adjusts the music level only not the system volume level.
Looks like there is a firmware boo boo. Sammy needs to push a fix. What I don't doubt is that they're aware issue and probably will not fix it until touchwiz is pushed.
Only way right now to adjust the system volume on the tab 10.1 is with a third party app.

Volume rocker

Is there a way for the volume keys to only control media volume instead of its default behavior which sets ringer volume?

Bump again
When you're in a media app, the volume keys should control media volume.
Of course, I know that. But I want to control media volume at all times. There is no ringtone to adjust.
Is there an app I can use to remap the keys or something?
I would like this myself.

Keysmod will let you remap the volume keys but I'm not sure that will do what you want: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=965023
You might want to check out Volume Control, which overlays a touch bar on your screen that can control media volume. There are several apps on Android Market called Volume Control; you want the one by BigRedPepper.

Doesn't look like it does, someone in the thread wants to do the same thing as I do.

Thanks, but that isn't something I'm interested in.
I'm interested in this as well.
thereddog, have you had any success remapping the volume keys to control media volume by default instead of ringer volume?
