Car dock and Home dock modes - Droid X General

Found out how to get into the car dock and home dock using a magnet. Might be helpful for people getting third party docks or those of you who want to make their own docks

Docking tricks for the DHD

So, most other HTC phones use a little magnet trick for the car dock and home dock, but ill be buggered if I can find where to place the magnet for the DHD. Thats not to say it couldnt be integrated into the cable somehow...
Does anyone know how to initiate Car dock and Home dock (without tasker heh), with something like a magnet??

[Q] Screen Flip

I use the Netflix and Slingplayer apps on my Galaxy Tab 10.1. Unlike many apps, they won't flip if you turn the tab upside down. If I'm looking at a long program or movie, it's nice to be able to keep the charger plugged into the tab, which is pretty much impossible with the tab in normal landscape orientation. Is there any technique or app available which will allow or force the screen to run upside down so I could attach the charging cable to the top?

Want this too
It would also have to force the audio to reverse, I think. Sometimes while using Splashtop to watch a video I'll have to charge the tab. While Splashtop will reorient the screen, it doesn't reverse the stereo speakers. This is a pretty device-specific issue, though, so I don't expect a rapid response from the Splashtop people (they still need to fix Bluetooth mouse support in remote sessions!).
Anyway, first world problems and all, but it would be nice to have a fix.

What makes a car dock.. dock?

Hi all.
Just a simple question I guess:
How does the SGSII know when it is docked in a compatible car dock? (Auto start Car Home, etc..?)
Does the car dock have a magnet what does the trick?
I have made my own car dock for my SGSII. And it would be really nice if it automatically started Car Home when docked.
Best regards
a certain resistance level on the connectin.. different resistence lets it sense car dock vs. home dock. etc. etc.

Could you please explain?
Resistance level on the connection?
People are talking about magnets here: http://www.reddit.com/r/Android/comments/j35p0/is_there_a_car_dock_for_the_sgsii/
lol if it was a magnet the magntometre would not work.
The car dock has a resistor in the power connector it only docks when plugged in even if the power is not connected to the dock.
Hope this helps
Sent from my GT-I9100 using XDA App
IIRC the resistor is pinned to pin 1 of the USB and to ground. If you look over on the Galaxy I9000 forum there is a post somewhere there on it.
Pin 4 connect to Pin 5 via 620k Ohm Resistor triggers Car dock mode

Anyway to make screen black while hdmi out? any solutions?

My HDMI input is no longer a virgin. I love the HDMI output but find it annoying how the tf screen stays on >.> any solutions?
there are no real solutions apart from the apps that have that kind of functionality stock (youtube, google moies). One workaround i have heard of is if you have your hdmi plugged in and the tf in the dock closed then wake it up with a external mouse but that is only a temporary solution and is assuming you have the dock

i9505 - issues with smart dock after lollipop upgrade

Hi all. I've looked for an answer to this issue, but to no avail.
I usually dock my s4 to samsung' s smart dock at home and I use it connected to a tv with mouse and keyboard attached for basic needs. Till lollipop upgrade everything worked flawlessy, now there are some issues:
Original TW: upon connection (power, hdmi etc), the screen goes off and appears on the tv, oriented and scaled to fill the display. this is fairly good, since I don't need anymore a rotation control app, the problem is that if the screen goes off, the only way to interact with the phone is via keyboard and mouse, which is annoying. does anyone know a way to control this behaviour?
GPE: the screen stays on upon connection, but sound is not sent through hdmi, only through the smart dock 3.5mm connectior
thanks, any hint appreciated
