Can you be more specific (at least for me, maybe someone with a clue will come along )? Do you mean the Samsung App store, I was under the same impression, but I never actually read anything official about it. I think I have heard from other I9000 owners that they can't access Samsung App Store through Kies and that the newest Kies didn't add the functionality.
Their app store is definitely a work-in-progressl, so I wouldn't expect it to actually be made available before FroYo, assuming it comes at all. If anyone has a link, with comment from Samsung that'd be great.

Yes i mean the Samsung store.I thougt i heard there would be two phones the could use the samsung app store. Wave 8500 and galaxy S. Seams we with Sgs only have a demo version.

You heard correct, at least a few reviews mentioned this, it doesn't mean that they were correct when they wrote the information. I was really hoping for it to save me from the brutal dearth of games in SK due to draconian laws, SlideMe and PSXforDroid are a big help, but not offering quite the top level content that Samsung has for the Wave...g2g, Gestapo are at the door.

the bell I9000M has the Samsung Store (Samsung Apps) and it comes with 4 free apps, then if you sign up online in the pc, you can download even more.
it's accessible via the new Kies, you use the same user id and password you created when you sign up for a Samsung Apps account

The galaxy s i9000 in europe comes with 7 free apps, maybe its them you can access.
Anyway it would be nice with full access as we in sweden dont have the paid apps in Android Market.

The Samsung App store is really ment for their other phones based on Bada like the Galaxy I8500 Wave. Its totaly useless to us. And the only thing in it was some crappy apps. Honestly don't worry too much about it

Your dream Galaxy Tab/Android Application?

I've been doing some work with Samsung, putting the Galaxy Tab through its paces.
I've just been asked to dream up my ideal Galaxy Tab application! I've got a million and one ideas, but wondering what you guys thought?
I have the ear of some pretty senior people at Samsung, who knows, one of these ideas could become a reality one day!
So what will it be? An integrated Email and Text messaging system? A battery life managing piece of software? What would YOU like from Samsung/Google?

+1 that would be bomb
Ditto: phone as standard part of US Galaxy Tab.

i want to be able to use my Galaxy Tab as a datalogger/basic tuner for the custom ECU running the engine in my car. (i would actually pay a dev 'decent' money to make something like this, needs to communicate with a BT RS-232 serial adapter, and the software can probably be ported from the OpenSource Linux program)
but in the realm of things that more than ~50 people will use... (thousands if it worked on any android device)
a VNC client with a small section of the screen dedicated to a trackpad with left and right click buttons and the ability to customize a small handful of keyboard buttons that are always available would be nice...

Also app to compose music, like the ipad has.
Since the phone on the US Tabs was obviously determined by the carriers, and thus out of Google or Samsung's control, I'd like to see the Daily Briefing become customizable. The ability to add my own news source(s), the ability to remove the stock section, ect...

And change the colour of that ugly ass application. It comes in different horrible shades based on who your carrier is. I'd actually consider using it if it weren't some neon abortion.

I've got a couple of suggestions for apps for the senior people at Samsung.
#1 How about an Android Market app for Galaxy Tabs sold in Dubai. Or a massive warning on the box that it doesn't come with Android Market, despite the press release for Galaxy Tab not indicating that Android Market is market specific and the Samsung UAE website showing photos of the Android Market icon on the Galaxy Tab:
http://www.samsung.com/ae/flash/p2main/low/main_KV_low_01.jpg
http://www.samsung.com/ae/system/consumer/product/2010/10/24/gt_p1000cwaxsg/5_01.jpg
#2 How about an augmented reality system. Kind of like that one described on the Samsung UAE website at http://www.samsung.com/ae/consumer/...XSG/index.idx?pagetype=prd_detail&tab=feature, but that can't be installed because it the requires Android Market app.
Those would be two ideal apps for Galaxy Tab.
Phone as standard on the us version is a must.
Agree that the Daily Briefing app is cool. Very cool actually... being able to customize it would be nice.
Have we mentioned the phone thing? ... 30 day return policies sure are nice.
I'd like a nice app for google books, specifically the 'my library' part. There are a number of good book manager apps in the market, but none of them sync or integrate with google books. Then there's one or two apps that do sync with google books, but they don't have the other functionality I'm looking for.
What it needs to do is:
Sync with Google Books, not just the full book list, but individual shelves, please.
ISBN/ISSN search, from keyboard or barcode scan (maybe even integrate google goggles to recognize the cover)
Maybe a cover search.
Text search inside books (can just pipe the results from google books)
If it has a nice UI, even better, but that's not the top priority IMHO.

I have only one request.... as others have said... please let us use it as a phone.
Have them post some anonymous post with a simple method that allows us to do that.
Otherwise, I am not keeping it.

I don't think it's that simple - at least not for CDMA devices.
I can only see that the carriers who have decided that this Tab can't be used as a phone, and have forced Samsung into this. Quite why they've decided this, I've no idea, but since I suppose that they feel that since the iPad can't have voice, the Tab doesn't need it either.
I suppose Samsung could release a network unlocked GSM Tab which supports both TMo and AT&T frequencies, but if they do this they may alienate the carriers who then won't carry Samsungs smartphone range, which let's face facts, is the bread and butter of their mobile business.
What you really need to be doing is boycotting the Tab in the US until the carriers see sense and allow you to use them as a phone.
We may pay more for our Tabs without a contract over here in the UK, but at least they are fully functional!

Dave

FWIW, I don't think that its Samsungs fault that there is no Android Market in Middle-Eastern Tabs - it seems that this is the case for all Android devices (see here).
I know that's about as useful to you as a chocolate teapot, and I fully agree that there should be at least some obvious warning that there is no Market on the device.

For those who can phone...
1. Voice recognition
What really is missing from my perspective is voice recognition since we need an ear phone to speak.
It makes no sense to have to take out the phone from the pocket to place a call.
We should be able to perform this from the ear phone.
2. Task manager
It makes me crazy no to be able to go to an application from the default task manager. We can only kill apps.
3. Google maps and Contact Manager should be integrated
4. Calendar tab should appear in Phone application and integrated with Contacts Manager.
Since I am using that device for professional purpose I am more interested in real life application than in Asphalt game.

Gameloft Refuses Upgrade for my Note!

I thought this was pretty BS, and wanted to share this. I bought the games less than 2 months ago and wanted to download them to my new Note. Here is their response back to me.
"Unfortunately, you can not get the games back on your new phone. According to Gameloft policy if you buy a game, you can re-download it to the same phone with the same phone number within 3 years of your purchase. If the phone model or number was changed by the customer's own initiative, Gameloft has the right to refuse re-sending the game.
You can not re-download or transfer games which you bought on your old phone (model 1) to the new phone (model 2), because we produce each game-build for one particular phone to ensure the best quality and to prevent piracy. If you want to have games on your new phone, I'm afraid you will have to buy them again.
Sorry for the inconveniences. If you have any other questions, please let me know.
Best regards, -------------------------------Deepesh Mohan Customer Care Agent http://www.gameloft.com/"
great way to prevent piracy...
not!
Yeah, i don't like Gameloft and this is a good reason to not buy anything from them. They won't change their policy as long as customers are "fine" with it.

Yah, seems increasingly like in the name of "piracy" (think DRM) the paying user is the one that gets hurt the most.
Honestly, I'm not going to cry over a few dollars, but I'm very shocked that they are taking this stance. All they had to do to keep me happy was very simple, but yet they still refused. To me that's a smack in the face.
I don't think they believe in good customer service. Even the customer service person replied somewhat apologetically that they do not offer refunds.
Had purchased the Adventures of Tintin game for the SGS2, then upgraded to the Note about 1 month after the purchase, only to find out the game was incompatible. When the game was first released, there were no indications that it was not compatible with any devices. To a not very techie layperson, it would make sense for a game that runs on tablets--the ipad reportedly has it--to run on a phone too.
Because of this incident, I'm thinking of boycotting their games, not that they're that fantastic to the fairer gender anyway!
This is why ios wins, I'm niether an apple fan boy nor android fan boy and please nobody hate on me but I love my android phone and all but you cannot deny that apple basically is an efficient OS wise, you would never have such issues on apple devices. Don't get me wrong android has its perks with a variety of phones designs and brands but honestly I think iOS is the best mobile operating system out there. And don't get me started about their app store or iTunes, unlike android you wouldn't need to trouble yourself rooting and downloading market enabler just so you can enjoy the us version of the app store, isn't a pain when you need to do in apply purchases
Bottom line ANDROID needs to upgrade their market together with ICS update
Composed on my Samsung Galaxy Note using XDA Premium app
"because we produce each game-build for one particular phone to ensure the best quality and to prevent piracy"
That made me laugh! isn't this the perfect way to encourage piracy? As I have said elsewhere, When I purchase any app/game I then find the apk as a backup. It's mine, I paid for it, and I will bloody well do what I want with it other than sharing. That's my 'policy'
To use the app you bought you have to prove every time again that you are using the app on the same device that bought the app. Every time they check your phone id, your phone number, your market account, your exact gps position.
Soon they will require that you use the app on the same phone, same network provider, same market account, same phone number, same country, and maximum 50 km distance from the gps position you had when you bought the app.
Not joking.
Not the story they told me when I bought a few games few months ago. When I enquired that I was soon going to buy another phone and asked if I buy games if I can get the game on my new phone like on the Android market, they said yes. Don't remember if I called them our asked on their website. Haven't yet had time to get the apk off my old phone and pt it in my new phone.guess my games that I bought won't work on my new note too contrary to what was told to me by them. In that scenario if they deliberately gave me wrong information then I will find other ways to play the game I legally bought.
I am about to port my number to another mobile provider guess they will now try to block the games I bought on my note.isn't that a restrictive trade practice preventing customers from changing mobile providers. Obviously the New network will give me a new Sim card even when they port my number.

I also kept the apk I downloaded and it is labelled as compatible for a "Droid X." Howver, 2 of the 3 I bought worked on my Note. So there is still a chance your games will work, but I can't say for sure.
Somebody please tip the XDA crew about this and maybe they'll put it on the Portal. I had no idea that they could refuse re-download if you change your phone and I think the news need to be spread so that we can decide if we want to buy software from such companies or not. I always liked to pay for Android software since I know I'll be able to use it long term... I wont buy Gameloft games anymore, that's for sure.

I agree! Honestly it is easier to just go to 4shared and download a pirated copy that won't be limited to a single device, but I like to support developers who create good apps/games or else where would we be?

Yah, he's being sarcastic, but I think what he is pointing out is just how far they could go if they wanted to.
my case was an update of the famos UNO HD. i told them that the quality sucked on my NOTE but the on the galaxy tab 7(original) works a charm... downloads the additional files.. but on my not does not download anything.. but game works...
they said there is nothing they can do cause the game is not compatible with note....WTF dont think it takes that much to update n7000 in the program so it recognizes it as a hd product and download.... ah well....its this kind of service and attitude that leads people to torrents.....you wont support what i bought then will download it will the additional files....
I downloaded apps from Samsung (gameloft) and saved the APK from my SGSII (like Dead Space) and installed it on my note, and it worked fine.

I am writing what they can do with all the data they collect. But it is not so unlikely to happen. For example on phone networks they check whether a phone moves too far too soon (last position in Paris, 3 minutes later in Berlin, 2 minutes later in Rome) to find phone hackers. Since many apps are collecting your gps position and getting again your gps position when you start the app again...
It will be easy to give you a geographically restricted license. For example a free license only for clients with GPS position in Europe.
Or the app costs 5$ for US clients, 5 euro for EU clients, 5 Hong Kong dollars for HK clients and to enforce that, the US license can only be used inside the US.
I "bought" some apps from the Samsung app store for free.
I denied to show my phone ID, like you.
Now some of them will not start because:
1) i do not allow them to check my phone ID to verify my free license
2) if i allow them to check my phone ID, they do not have in their records that my phone ID bought the free app, so I must be a criminal.
We must INSTALL LBE PRIVACY + DROIDWALL to stop this nonsense, before it is too late and this becomes a standard procedure.
Honestly the only other way I'd buy again is if all my purchases stayed linked to my Google account. But, God forbid that mean less profit for Gameloft.

Well .... they did this with PC games & DVDs quite happily. When I migrated to Oz, all my UK games and DVDs would not work on Australian PCs / DVD players. How that for a massive rip-off?
Piracy? Hmmmm ... that's an idea, now!

DRM causes more piracy than it could ever prevent. One crack, one upload, millions of pirates.

S-Note and Media Hub Sync

Ok so I have had my Note 2 since launch and love it. The Samsung account syncs the S-notes and can restore them. The Note 10.1 doesnt even have the option in the sync setting for the Samsung account. Does anyone know if the JB update will add this so your S-notes are synced across your Note devices?

Well went down the road of doing the gem ICS them changing the CSC file and it did the OTA update to JB. S-notes syncs fine I see my notes on both my Note 2 and the Note 10 but what really sucks is the Music Hub App is nothing like the one on my N2. None of the cloud music I have uploaded none of the Radio stations its just a Buy Me type apps this is very disappointing. If Samsung cant see the value in makeing it a seamless expirance across their Note Line they are lost in the weeds. Im not an Apple fan but they have got that stuff right. I think Im taking it back and going for the Nexus 10 if this is what I have to work with. Its a shame

Let's pretend you asked for help rather than ranting. Why yes, you can set up the "new" Music Hub on the Note 10.1. Download Astro (or tool of your choice) and back-up the app off of your N2. Then share it to Dropbox. Download the APK from Dropbox and it'll install on your Note 10.1 asking if you want to replace the installed version. Voila. Music Hub II on your Note 10.1. I can upload it to DB for you if you have any issues. Note: It only works on multiple (Samsung) devices if you've provided a credit card for the premium service.

OK, not a "rant." Maybe a bit rant-ish. It was the “I’m going to get a N10” that threw me. Music Hub II isn't fully released yet. It was available originally for the U.S. only and only on the SGS3. They added the N2 and the UK, Germany, France, and Italy only recently. The original UI was pretty cheesy too. They obviously see it as a way of generating revenue because it’s a pretty ambitious effort so I'd expect it to become both more available and better promoted soon.

I have replaced Spotify, Pandora and Google Music with it. Simple to use easy to search, syncs with my Families iTune Lib. reasonable price. out of 5600 songs only 6 didnt make the "Locker". The "EQ" is Bass, Mid, Highs..perfect for me. Note2 with my Bose Soundlink is a wonderful road warrior combo in hotel rooms. Cant wait to see it "Official" on the Note 10.1 will make a great portable multimedia Platform. My only other WTF was why they didnt include NFC in the note 10 for beaming that would have been great for quick transfers between devices. DropBox fills that to some extent but it would have been icing on the cake.
Oh and you can set storage to your ExtSD .... THANK YOU SAMMY

Please pay attenrion for Samsung users

Hello all
I ask everyone who has a device from Samsung company not to close the tab and read to the end of this post.
I'll start with the prehistory. My first Android-tablet was Samsung Galaxy Tab 7.7. I was incredibly happy because it was a unique device. Screen, build quality, metal, processor and capacious battery. I could not get enough of. I bought it for $ 721. it was in June of last year, I must say he has a birthday coming up.
And just a month later I got an update ice cream sandwich. It was the best firmware, and no matter what that summer, Google released a jelly bean.
Time passed, and Samsung is not going to renew our wonderful tablet to the latest version of android. I was waiting for. My patience ran out in March 2013.
March 7 I began to send in the forums with the topic of the samsung galaxy tab 7.7 messages with calls about the attack of the official pages of Samsung in social networks messages such as "We want Jelly Bean for Galaxy Tab 7.7!!!".
We are bombarded official page Samsung USA, Samsung and Thailand. I want to believe that they have heard our cries and dissatisfaction. And 29 days ago, Samsung launched the upgrade to Jelly Bean for Thailand. And that's it. certainly present in the firmware English language, but what about those who live in the countries of the CIS? Those who know neither Thai nor English language. The same China and Japan!
29 days have passed. and no region except Thailand did not get updated until now. I wrote about this in support of Samsung, the country where I live (Ukraine), but I was told that there is no information about the update, and until.
So my dear friends, and just those who are indifferent to our problem, and in general the problem of updating all Samsung devices, I urge you to attack samsunga page on facebook and other social networks. I think it will suit us more than the banner of
"I hate samsung for that instead of an update for my device, it produces a copy of it with a modified design !!!."
official Samsung Support page on Facebook
official Samsung Thailand page
Samsung Mobile Thailand
I will be grateful for the repost of this topic in any topics on xda/social networks
Thanks All
OK. You have taken the trouble to write this and I have taken the trouble to read it.
My own criticism of Samsung lies in the slowness of the update to the latest versions of Android in the first instance. But Samsung are not alone in this regard, that is not an excuse as such but it is a reality of owning an Android device. That is, outside of a Nexus, I hasten to add to ward off those of a pedantic disposition.
Secondly that this tardy update is exacerbated by the long drawn out releases for each territory's firmware. This was an overall nine month process in the case of Ice Cream Sandwich v4.0.4.
Nonetheless, Samsung did come through and now has released the initial firmwares for Jelly Bean 4.1.2 with, presumably, the remaining territories to follow in due course.
To repeat this fact for emphasis, Samsung has released JB for our devices. I should know, I am running the Singapore version on my Netherlands Tab.
Looking at the state of Android fragmentation generally, I have to content myself with gratitude and applaud Samsung for not forgetting about us. However late in the day this might be. In my opinion it is churlish to whinge in the manner of your post. Lack of patience is a personal failing and so is an inflated sense of personal entitlement. Why look to transfer these personal shortcomings as being Samsung's responsibility?
As for your slogan "I hate samsung for that instead of an update for my device, it produces a copy of it with a modified design !!!." Sorry but I don't understand it, it is doesn't make sense to me and certainly I will not hate Samsung. I would respectfully suggest that you reconsider this effort and phrase your concerns in more positive, constructive and helpful sentiments. Attacking, hating and bombarding are not tactics that I would ever employ.
So there is no way that I will be party to such a petition. Other opinions may vary of course.
Still waiting for ANY kind of official JB support for the P6810 model. Although I blame them, don't hate them for it though.

I can only say this.. ..
Patience is virtue.. ..
I waited 3-4 months for JB after it first came out.... Now after its available for P6800... amazingly I'm still on ICS...
If you so desperately need JB and don't understand Thai or English, have this resource pages translated in Google.
You'll find instructions to upgrade via Mobile ODIN, using the Thai or Singapore versions.
Then, do the same to download and activate the specific language you need.
I am already running JB with the SIngapore version and Portuguese language pack on a device bought in the Netherlands.
It is not cool to point out Samsung tardiness, while not doing all you can do to solve your problem.
I should also point out that, if you want to be a tech enthusiasts as we all are and a "must have the latest" kind of enthusiast, as you seem to be, you really should find a way of learning English, or you'll be continuously frustrated.
Just a thought...

The USA has another reason: Most 7.7 are locked to Verizon. I felt fortunate to receive ICS. Samsung will point to Verizon and say it's up to Verizon and Verizon will say...

The problem is, people shouldnt have to do all this to get jb for their mobile devices.
It's not just a Samsung problem. Sony too is dragging their feet with the updates. The real issue is android. Instead of a different version for each region, it should be a universal update. And a language pack should be available for download via google play.
I can see why Samsung decided to test out tizen. Although it would be a lot easier to stick with windows....
And samsung should stick to making devices.

Agreed.
Mentioned nearly the same thing in past threads, although I still believe is fully Samsung. Not too difficult for THEM to compile P6810 JB firmware after (Asia) already releasing it for its brother. Maybe they over comitt themselves with too great a range of products, and those products that sell volume have much greater priority?
As you said, language packs are the way to go

And please tell me, what reason is there on Android's code that forbids a single universal update?
All firmware versions work with all devices (of the same model obviously). You can use a modem for any region. You can enable languages that aren't enabled by default. Android allows all that.
The problem isn't Android. It's the manufacturers' internal organization, the specific contracts with local operators, and the required tests by local regulation agencies that limit official availability.

pissed abbout google play store and samsung appstore and espetially amazon appstore

pissed abbout google play store and samsung appstore and espetially amazon appstore
hy,
im not sure if im doing something wrong but the google appstore is very incoherent, i dont even want to mention the other stores.
i was trying for example, to find resident evil 4 on the samsung store but found streetfighter 4 instead witch i cannot find on the google store nor anywhere.
streetfighter 4 was, by all sources on google first only exclusive for LG devices and then was expanded to some devices in japan, so i shouldnt even see it.
but alright thats the samsung store i dont expect much of that anyway .. but the google store is the same crap basically.
i go on my samsung s4 in the appstore app i press the menu button and select my apps and i got two tabs one says installed the other all.
on the installed tab i should see all apps installed on my device regardless if i got them from the samsung store or any other source i could have also downloaded an apk and installed it manually.
the i open my browser and go to the google app store .. what do i got there? i have on the left a link to my apps now i am supposed to get all my apps listed there ... and also one has that little gear icon witch is there for settings on it there is an option saying MY ORDERS that lists everything i ever purchased from the google appstore.
now the issue is that in the list of my apps on the browser i dont have the same items as on the list that the mobile app store gives me i am missing believe it or not even GOOGLE VOICE SEARCH witch appears on my mobile.
now the most retarded thing about this hole thing is that i got on my device in the all tap listed 2 samsung apps witch are the SAMSUNG HUB and PHOTO EDITOR when i go into details on both i get a message saying this app is not compatible with your device.
i cannot find neither of these apps on the google app store when i use the search embeded in the store app.
if this is really the android system then i take a crap on it. IS IT SO HARD TO MAKE THING COHERENT... I CANNOT IMAGINE ANYTHING SIMPLER IN THE HOLE PROCESS OF DEVELOPMENT OF AN ANDROID SYSTEM. i dont want to get thrown to by all this trash produced by a bunch of different standards different appstores but as you can see also within each store itselt.
I SO REGREAD BUYING THE S4 ILL NEVER CHANGE FROM APPLE AGAIN.
is it really so that in the process of developing a system like android google or samsung or whoever just says ok ... we developed all the core stuff we dont care about the UI just get the thing ready for sale
Blah, blah, blah. Talking about incoherent. Maybe it's you.

No its you my friend youre just to ignorant to see that android I a cheap piece of crap compared to apple and the reason why youre ignorant is because you cant explain yourself how that is because its not a problem at all to change this
then get an apple..
I'll give you twenty of the currency of your choice for your S4 + cost of standard postage to me (if it were me, I'd choose Euros as they're worth the most relative to other currencies).
P.S - This is the least coherent thread I've read in my almost two years on XDA (and I've read literally tens of thousands of threads). For that, you should be congratulated. It reminds me of the rantings of a patient at a secure psychiatric facility detained involuntarily.
I came from apple and I love my gs4, it does way more stuff than an iPhone ever can. Sure there isn't much games on the app store but I don't use my phone for gaming, I use my phone as intended a “phone". if you want to play games go see if you can run across the street through rush hour traffic to get to the other side or play Russian roulette, your choice. Go buy an Xbox or a PlayStation end of story problem solved.

coherent means beeing related to each other in a unique form not 2 thinks being dependent on each other one way and the next 3 things on a different way.
You cannot treat apps on the play store on a different footage you canont have on diferent devices difrent funktionalities for what is supossed to be the same funktion.
This threat is the most coherent thing you have ever seen because it unifies in one hoherent writeing or threat all the issues noone wants to talk about on the other hand your everyday life is a incoherent think because you are running away from the through
P.s. youre a vierdo
Keep posting. You sound loopier the more you post (your last one reinforced the perception you created with your OP).
Edit - Also, thanks for responding to my post & not anyone else's. You've made me feel all speshul
You're fully entitled to your opinion and venting your frustration. However I genuinely have no idea what your posts mean. Stop being uncivilised to posters too. Their opinion is equally valid as yours.
