Any way to make applications installed via the .apk file to appear in - myTouch 3G, Magic General

the market place so it will auto check for updates?
I downloadded them from the marketplace and used Astro to back them up so when i switched phones i wouldnt have to search the market place for each one
Ive noticed that now ive gotten my replacement phone and ive copied over all my apps that none appear in the market place so i cant check if there are any updates.
Any way to fix this without uninstalling and reinstalling each one?

Having the same issue myself

Try using the Market Doctor function in Titanium Backup. You might need to reboot your phone after doing it in order to see any changes.

cool, ill look into it. thanks

Market missing?

Hey,
I tried searching but i cant seem to find this anywhere.
I tried to flash a new rom, decided i didnt like it, went to do a Nandroid backup, and when i did the market is just missing. the icon for it, the actual program, i cant find it anywhere. In fact every nandroid backup i have doesnt even have the market anymore.
I cant seem to find a solution to this on XDA or on google. Anyone have any idea what happened?

Anyone? I just installed darchdroid 2.6.5 on my son's hero and the market doesn't show up in the apps drawer. I can see /system/app/Vending.apk but I can't see or run the app from the OS.
I did 'adb push Vending.apk /system/app' then rebooted but still no joy. Any ideas?
try navigating to the .apk on your phone with a file explorer, click on it and choose Install. It should reinstall the .apk.
Also try the "fix uid mismatches" in recovery>other
Thanks nebenezer.
The install didn't work from file manager but your comments made me remember what the problem is. I had it on my Hero before but forgot.
I had flashed a blue theme so the /system/app/Vending.apk and /data/app/com.android.vending.apk files were different and wouldn't work for whatever reason. I flashed darchdroid last night without wiping so I guess these are incompatible. So far haven't seen any other problems.
Anyway I just pulled those two files off my hero and pushed them to my son's and everything is good.

Android Market Issue w/rooted Vibrant

Rooted phone like a charm.
Only thing is I cannot download from Android Market.
It stalls at "starting download".
I have tried following suggested remedies:
1. Log into G-Talk (cannot do it just idles at logging and never really logs in)
2. Backed up Market.apk and uninstalled updates and cleared cache thorugh settings-manage apps and re-installed Market again but no avail.
I am loosing it!!!
I read Paul from Modaco has a linux script to enter via adb that fixest the problem..
It reads to fix Market issues, here we goes http://bit.ly/cUTISr
"TRY at your own risk..
I hope it works for you good luck..
Don't know if this will help but do you have the latest busybox installed?
Feeling Vibrant on xda-app
Im rooted with no Market place issues.
I have strange market issues, but it seems more related to WiFi than it does to anything else. I have no problem connecting to the market via E/3G, but the second I turn on WiFi all my market downloads stall out, and I can no longer access GTalk, or Google Voice Search.
Didnt have the problem before root, or on any other rooted Android device.
Both before and after root, I've had market issues over wifi with needing to start downloads a couple times every once in a while.
No issues before/after root with market on 3G
I'm rooted as well with no real issues. I'll get a random force close from time to time, but I was getting that as well before I rooted. I just think it's a Market/Google issue, and not so much that the phone is rooted.

I've had my phone rooted since it came out of the box, have had no issues.
I recommend doing a wipe on the phone and starting from scratch.
I have tried Modaco thing it didnt fix it.
I cant seem to get to do with busybox either, likely as I am novice.
I think my problem was that I just plain deleted pre-loaded apps through android mate app to which i granted superuser access.
My redneck solution now is to take out the sim card put it back into my old my-touch 3g, access market, install app, back it up, transfer apk file over to PC and then from there into back-up folder in Vibrant and install it from there using astro. Desperate...
How do I wipe the the whole thing and start from scratch? Do I back up the whole ROM on formated sd card and then wipe and back up again from that sd card? I have never done that before. Wouldn't I just back up the whole faulty system again?
I've been having the same problem with no fix so far.
The guy who put up this solution seems to know what's going on: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=711660&page=2
The only problem is that finding a friend with a Galaxy is going to be hard. If anyone is happy to post the dumps depending on requests, that would be greatly appreciated.
I also have a similar problem, but the the downloads start and complete, it just LAGS like no ones business (~15-30 seconds in between hitting install, and when the next "okay" windows comes up.....till then I am staring at 2 grey bars and the white application background w/ nothing on it, and no loading happening. Are these related?
Thanks!
Market root or non root fix.
I had the same exact problem like you guys.
Seems that the market it self and the "download manager" included in the market use individual settings to access the network.
I got this problem after i used wifi only to connect to the market. Downloaded whatever i needed.
Turned wifi off, turned off flight mode so i could connect to 3g.
Open the market back again, tried to download something else and always would get stuck at "downloading". Funny thing i could browse any apps in the market but downloading would do nothing.
Here's the fix:
Close market completely, either using a task killer or reboot your phone.
With wifi mode off and flight mode turn on, open the market app.
It wont do anything of course.
Close the market (don't have to kill app)
Turn off the flight mode, this will turn 3G back on.
Go back to your market and try downloading something.
It should work.
Feel like it's an issue with the market app more then anything related with root or non root being done.
Let me know if this works for you 2.
Unfortunately the above fix did nothing for me.
Thanks for the suggestion though.
having the same problem with my galaxy s, any help would be really nice
cheers

Rooted:
open titanium backup
select the market
wipe data, twice if you want to
still in TB, go menu > more > market doctor
fix the missing links, if any.
go to market, accept the terms
go download an app
work?
This almost always fixes my market issues, if not... reboot and try another data (3g/wifi)
I finally found a way to fix my market as nothing else was working to fix it, I would post a link but I can't copy and paste the link but if you search for my post called market issue fixed (possibly) then follow that and see how you get on

[Q] Show manual installs in Market ?

I like most of you try various Android builds.
I always backup my Market downloads with Astro or ES File Explorer. They get placed into the /sdcard/backups/apps folder. Sometimes I install them for a new build by placing them in AndroidApps folder, or later using the File Manager Apps again.
At the moment Market only shows new downloads for that particular build. If my manually installed Apps showed up then Market would actively detect upgrades for them. How can I get Market to recognise that I have installed them ?
If backed up with titanium backup pro there is a function called market doctor that relinks the market to installed apps.. Only thing I can thinks of.. Maybe some one else had ideas..
swyped from my HD2 Android
I did this too and after setting up my phone I went to the settings -> applications -> manage applications -> all (sorry if this path isn't spelled likethat, I'm using my phone in German).
There you have to search for the market. Then delete all data. Be sure the market is killed before. Go back to your market and accept the terms of use. Now let it load till it's finished. Go to downloads and let it load again.
That solved my problems.
Cheers
It worked! Thank you very much for the great advice
I can't do this in 'Gingerbread'. Is there a workaround ?

Try the market doctor in Titanium Backup, don't know if the free version supports that tool. Got the paid one..
Market Dr is in the paid version, but requires it to have been working in a previous backup. So, no good for us flashing roms all the time.
Any other ideas ?
yeah been having this issue which is making me not too excited about flashing roms all the time. hoping to see a work around soon or might have to get the titanium backup pro

Market issue any ideas?

I cannot purchase any apps in teh market ATM before I get to teh pop up when u click purchase I get a message saying "An error has occured, please try agian" been doing that since wednesday
I have tried switching roms, went into the market and hide all my duplicate devices and nothing
An old friend taught me this;
Download the new market app. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1329392
Using root explorer, go to the directory where your current vending.apk is.
Delete it.
Copy your new market app you downloaded to the same directory.
Rename it to vending.apk.
Make sure you check permissions, as they must be the same as the other apps.
Reboot.
Go into your app manager.
Delete the market app cache.
Should be ok now. I had the same issue a few weeks ago. Installing the new app by the usual way, didn't fix anything.
that seemed to fix it, i did the clear cache but not removing the market, odd too cause its witha fresh install thanks agian
No problem. Glad it's working.
I had the exact same issue, but clearing the cache didn't fix it, nor did the normal market installs. Was strange. Had to use my ph to purchase the apps, then install through the tab.
this new market makes FC when i try to download some of the apps.
with others works great.
what could be the reason?
thors rom 14.2
proxonic
Supposedly, the new market was for android 2.3 and not HoneyComb per say. Occassional FC were a known issue but seems to run ok overall. Suppose they will put out a new version for HC soon.

[Solution] Applications and games owned by this account will appear here

I have had this issue for a very long time and could not find a lasting and solid solution. After researching the problem for a few weeks I found a solution that worked for me, finally.
The issue seems to have triggered when I used the Titanium Backup Pro Market tools to unlink and link apps to my market account and system apps were added by accident. This should work with any app that can link and unlink apps to and from the Market.
Here is the step-by-step solution for TB Pro:
1) Go to Market Tools -> Market Doctor and Unlink all User & System apps.
2) Reboot device.
3) Open any Root Explorer or Browser and locate and delete the file "market_assets.db" in "/data/data/com.android.vending/databases".
4) Reboot device.
5) Go to TB Pro and to Market Tools -> Market Doctor -> User Apps and link all the User Apps that you installed on your device from the Android Market. Make sure that no System App is linked.
6) Reboot device.
Then the apps you have linked to your account will appear again in Your Apps of the Market after a few minutes. If they do not then install a new free app or a free app that you had previously installed and uninstalled and your apps should appear soon.
In my case I had used all proposed solutions with no luck and this was the only solid solution. I used TB Pro and Root Browser Lite to do this. You could probably use MyBackup for free (30 days trial) to do the same process but if you had this issues chances are that you already have an app that can unlink and link apps from the market.
I hope this sorts out your issue too
Edit 6 FEB 2012: This solution is temporary unfortunately. The cause of the problem is linking apps to the market that were not downloaded from the market or linking to the market from a backup that is quite old/corrupted. To sort this out there is an app now and you can find it from here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=22178757&postcount=162
It is called Market Fixer and it detects market links that are problematic and removes them to restore the My Apps functionality in the Market.
Cool thanks, I had already found that solution by myself and it works fine, but doesn't survive a hard reset, meaning everytime I flash a new rom with full wipe the problem comes back and I have to go through this again...
I tried to use another account with a full wipe and no problem, so my account must be screwed for life.
Thanks titanium

Also, with market enabler I can see paid apps and even install previous bought apps but cannot buy anything.
With 2 accounts setup at the same time, I can mysteriously buy apps !!!
If I delete the second account, bam, I can't buy anymore.
Looks like the simple presence of a "clean" account sorts things out for the corrupted one...

What root browser to you use?
If it is ES Explorer you can't search file in root system with it.
Choose "Root Browser Lite"

You are missing the folders databases and shared_prefs then. What happens if you try to create an empty folder there called databases?
Alternatively you can search for the file "market_assets.db" to see where it is saved at. Root browser lite has both search and create new folder functions.
I use Root Explorer.
I created the "databases" folder under /data/data/com.android.vending/ and rebooted. Nothing happened. No files appeared inside databases. Then I "Force stop" and "Clear data" of Market app and reboot. After that databases folder disappears again.

This can only be explained by the fact that you are using a custom rom which is probably based on a previous stock rom than the one we have or it has been modified to affect that part of the market.
I also had an Android Market account corruption where apps I never purchased or never downloaded appeared in my apps when I logged into my account on the PC. Some of those apps would appear under my Apps in the Market for a long time. What I did was flash the latest rom XLA4 with Mobile Odin Pro (to not lose root), flash the CF root kernel to restore CWM functionality, wipe internal sd card/apps/data/factory reset/dalvik cache, install all the apps I wanted through the Android Market account on my PC and then follow the procedure I mention in my first post here. Now (today in fact) I checked my Android Market account online and all the "fake" apps are gone, the duplicates are gone and everything is in place. Also the Market on my phone is working great with no issues and all the apps I linked are there.
Hi,
One day after the changes, the market on my phone is still working great with no issues.
Just a point, system applications are considered not installed.
It seems to me that before this kind of application was not in the list of installed applications on the market or unable to uninstall.
Could you tell me what you think about and if I have to do something?

System applications should not appear in your apps unless you updated an app like Youtube or Maps at some point, so that it will give you the option to uninstall it. You probably added them with TB Pro when you linked the apps to the market as part of the solution. I haven't added them in my case and added only the apps I have installed/bought from the market myself. Therefore, they are not in the Not Installed section.
Some apps indeed do not have the option to be uninstalled (even apps I have bought myself) but it is rare and you can still uninstall them using TB Pro.
Tried this just now on a Galaxy Nexus with ICS 4.0.2 stock rom. (Should this work on this phone too?)
Only thing I did different is I left a couple system apps (like maps etc..) checked during the restore market links in Titanium Backup...
Could this be the problem? Also after deleting the database file and rebooting, I spent about 10+ mins deselecting system and amazon apps from the restore market links, before actually running it. Did it repopulate the database before ran the fix links option and screw things up?
I tried also clearing market data to see if that would help but i did this after this fix did not work. It didn't help either.

I do not know if this fix will work with ICS. You can try it again only adding apps you actually purchased or installed free through the Market to see if that was the issue.

Thanks. I did try it again like you mention and still no luck. I did however do a complete wipe and reinstalled the stock rom. Initially the market was working, until I restored user apps with data with titanium backup, then immediately I was back to the same problem.
So like you said initially, its definitely related to Titanium Backup.
Thanks,
Vrayhem,
Thank you so much for posting this solution.
I followed your instructions carefully on my fully rooted OEM Rom Atrix 2, but it did not work for me the first time. However, I performed them again, only this time, for each and every one of the reboots (I rebooted using Quick Boot ver.4.1), on the way back up I booted back up into recovery, and wiped the cache. I am not sure how that could have made a difference, but it appears to have been necessary in my case. I have not installed a custom ROM yet (was waiting for bootloader unlocking, but it's not hopeful, so I'll be using some other method).
Motorola Atrix 2
Model MB865
Market ver.3.4.4
Root Explorer ver.2.17.2
Quick Boot ver.4.1
Titanium BU Pro ver.4.7.5
System ver. 55.11.16.MB865.ATT.en.US
Android OS v.2.3.5
Kernel 2.6.35.7-gac99e44
[email protected] #1
Build Number 5.5.1-175_EDFFW1-16
======UPDATE======
Well, it worked for a few days. Somehow, it broke again on it's own. I had not messed with any market links or anything. Didn't flash anything, and didn't even muddle with any system files. Just flat out, unprovoked, snafu for no apparent reason.
meh.
Does this work across devices?
Sent from my Triumph using XDA App
This is very frustrating because I am having this happen more and more on different roms and even before installing titanium backup. The fix discussed here did not fix mine either. Sucks because it is only on some roms and not others.
