Wildfire restarts at random - Wildfire General

Hey guys.
I've got an issue start is seriously starting to destroy my first Android-experience.
On several occasions when messing around with e.g. the clock app, my phone just restarts. I can at some point live with that kind of instability although I don't understand why I have to...
However, what will soon be an agonizing karate death for the little Wildfire is the fact that it, usually in the night, often restarts too. I've never tried it with the alarm turned on so I don't know if the alarm will ring while it's asking for the SIM pass. Just started working after holidays with a new phone in my possession, and luckily I accidently just found out it restarted again... But if it turns out I'm gonna sleep the day away because of this, I will definitely have had it with a piece of software - that sort of seems beta to me...
Hope you can help me out, peace

Sounds like a defective phone to be honest.
Android normally doesn't restart on its own without an app telling it to do so.
Mine just runs fine for days.
Infact my current uptime is 163 hours.

I have the same issue.
The phone have done five restarts in the last two weeks.
Three of the times this happened I was listening to music. The other two times happened when I was browsing the menus.

Dear Friends as skye said I too doubt the phone is defective .. so best thing is to get a replacement while its new...

My W. restarts several times a day. Today it was 7 times until now. W. in factory setting with geocaching app a a some more basic apps I had used on previous Samsung Galaxy Spica with no problems. Seems to be common Wildfire problem, but I can t google no working solution.

same aplies to my phone..

I never had a problem.

My previous HTC touch cruise (windows mobile) developed the same problem, after 2 and a half years.
It's definitely hardware. You should look at warranty service

same to me,
in the evening mostly
also some times when trying to listen to music or when I'm using ebuddy

Wow, quite a few ppl getting restarts on their phone. O.O
My phone works just fine, no problem though.

Mine did a lot of time, but no more than once per day. Always when I was not using it, specially during night. The battery was always full.

Same issue here. I have a suspicion on applanet market, because after installing this app my phone has started to restarting.

Okay, if your phone isn't stock already run an RUU . Then take it to a repair center.

dunno if this will apply to any of you guys but if i overclock my phone past 700 it reboots like mad. i had to drop it to around 670 i think. i also read a post somewhere on here, or over at cyanogenmod,(cant remember ) that someone was getting random reboots every time he got a 3g connection :/

[Q] Does your MT4G reboot by itself?

Hi all MT4G users. I'm going to join y'all real soon. Anyway, I've read several topics about HTC phones (Desire, Desire HD, EVO 4G, even in the difference platform HD7) reboot by themselves. Some say it's because the heat of the motherboard. So, does anybody here get the same result?
I have had my mytouch 4g for 3 weeks and it has rebooted about 3 times total. Nothing major. I would rather it reboot then to fry something internally.

I actually haven't had this phone reboot on me yet... its been just about 3 weeks now and I hardly ever shut down my phone. It was a huge issue with the vibrant though (before rooted)
i just got the mt4g yesterday and it constantly reboots on me sometimrs even locks up and battery removal ness... not sure if my auto install or update has anything to do with it very possible tho because i am comming from a nexus one that was rooted and noticed it loaded several root needed programs anyway just a thought and returning phone for new one

Help!!! Phone wont power up!

all i did was install CM7 nightly 41 after a full wipe, all went well. then installed titanium backup, restored all apps, then went to recovery and installed gapps, powered back up, and it tried to sync and it froze up, so after a while i pulled battery and pow no power!!! uh oh? any ideas?
Does it light up when you charge it?

nope. i think its a total brick.
when i plugged it into computer the computer did attempt to install software (bubble on lower right of screen near clock that pops up saying new hardware found) but failed to install properly

yea i bought a nokia prepaid X2 as a spare so i can at least get email. my old spare isnt great its a nokia 6310i lol. it works great as a phone but nothing more.
according to ups ground, its 4 days from texas to me, so tuesday i should see my refurb crap again lol.
just irritating, they wanna charge 20 bucks for 3 day shipping....verizon charged 10 for overnight and free for 2 day. unreal. i just dont understand how it failed like that. i did nothing different when changing roms! my phone was running like crap after i wiped and installed virtuous sense on it, so i wiped again and flashed CM back on, and it just bugged the hell out! any idea why it would brick like that?
Holding power+volume down doesn't work?
This may sound silly. But have you tried a battery pull?
You seem kind of stupid, you supposedly brick your phone and before anyone can try to help you call tmobile and tell them to replace it, then complain about how long it takes them to replace your screw up.

And in the process make the cell phones and rate plans cost more for everyone else cause yet another a-hole wants there warranty honored when they knowingly VOIDED the warranty. Getting so tired of this. Between people bypassing paying for tethering and OVERLY taking advantage, and bull**** like returning phones that you KNOWINGLY VOIDED THE WARRANTY WHEN YOU ROOTED AND INSTALLED THAT CUSTOM ROM on it, it is ZERO wonder why they all want to sign the god dam bootloader anymore. These may be evil corporations were dealing with, but there is still a difference between right and wrong. These few on xda will ultimately be our downfall. This thread is all kinda fail.
Edit: sorry for sounding so harsh but you could have waited for at least a LITTLE bit of help first. it sounds like something not that out of our league to have fixed.

battery pull yes, vol down and pwr nothing. charged it overnight, and led didnt even power up, tried 2 different batteries, etc. nothing.
i dont know why it bricked, i did nothing different than what was done before to it. any time i ever did have problems was with the bootanimation screen would stay on and device would never boot, but i was still able to fix that with a full wipe and fresh reinstall. this was maybe a hardware failure of some sort? ive done all the same stuff to my mt4g (went from iced glacier to CM7, been on CM7 since nightly 6 or 8 with that one), and for a longer amount of time now and no issues at all. funny thing is i dont even flash nightly, or weekly...usually about 10-14 days ill flash an updated newer rom. now i know some of you people here are major fanatics about flashing nightly, changing radios constantly, kernels, amongst other things...i do half of that stuff and at probably a tenth of the rate that some of you hardcore folks do. so before you wanna pass judgement, i have been doing this same stuff since november on 3 different phones and never had a problem since yesterday at random. so i dont know why some of you get pissed when people have defective equipment. id guess if my hinge broke you would be telling me it was because of flashing roms too??? my rom was already flashed, working, and then when email was syncing it locked up, did a battery pull and nothing worked since. get a grip folks, crap happens. its not like i improperly flashed a non sense rom direct over a sense rom then back again with no wiping, clearing cache, data, etc etc etc then flash 3 incorrect kernels and bad themes and so on. if my device at least would power up, i wouldnt have decided to have it exchanged under warranty because i probably would have been able to fix it somehow since there are write ups about semi bricked devices. even plugging it into the computer does nothing now.
We have been looking into this issue on IRC for the past week or so. ANYONE WHO IS HAVING THIS ISSUE NEEDS TO STOP BY THE IRC CHANNEL.
We need to get some more info, right now we only have 2 cases to go on.

Droid X Gingerbread Cellular Disconnect

Has anyone else here had issues with the Droid X having cellular network disconnect issues?
What I mean by this is that the 3G stops all together, you cannot make outbound calls or SMS messages. The 3G icon goes away, yet I can see bars on the antenna strength meter.
The only way to fix this is to reboot the phone, even putting in airplane mode doesn't work. It happens about every 1.5 to 2 days on this phone. I've factory reset it, gotten a replacement phone, etc.. Nothing works and it all started with the Gingerbread update.
I'm not the only one I can tell you that, many others on the moto forum are having it too.. https://supportforums.motorola.com/thread/52111
I have an ADB logcat that I could send to some folks smarter than me if someone wants to look..
http://androidforums.com/droid-x-support-troubleshooting/354058-loss-data-voice-connection.html
Another forum posting I've found..
Glad to see there are more people with the issue.. Now its getting Motorola to listen....
There must be something unique that you are doing. I burn about 2200 min a month of cell time, and I've had no issues.
Yeah that happens to me, I sbf back to froyo, and now I'm on liberty rom, no more cell disconnect

I'm to the point where I want to get away from Motorola all together.. This phone has always been quirky, now its just totally unreliable. I have an HTC incredible (CM7) and have 0 issues with this, so I know its not a cell reliability issue in my area.
I can tell you that I ran CM7 for a few days on the DX with no issues at all. However CM7 has a few other annoyances that the wife didn't want to deal with.
I'm working with Verizon and it sounds like they're to the point of offering up a different phone..
I was having a similar issue. Spent countless minutes on tech support with vzw, countless resets, even sent me a replacement phone and had the same issue. Determined it was google voice at fault. Had to do a factory reset from the moto bootloader (not from settings/privacy), and it finally solved the issue.
If you're using google voice, try getting rid of it, and disconnecting it from your phone.

Well, I don't use GV, but had it on my phone...
I've uninstalled, and rebooted (not factory wipe)...
I'll see how it goes...
I asked in the moto forum and one user responded so far saying that they have the issue but don't have google voice installed..
I had the same problem with OTA Gingerbread. Cyanogenmod 7 fixed all my problems. No lie.

Hi,I'm now having these issues and more since gingerbread. Sad thing is, I had NO issues with this phone while on froyo. Verizon wants to do a complete factory reset, but that means i'd lose everything on the phone. I have it all backed up, but it takes a while to set up the damn thing the way I have it. I feel if tat what Verizon recommends, they should help set it back up.
Sent from my SCH-I800 using XDA Premium App
After dealing with the issue with Verizon they agreed to let me swap the phone out for a different phone. The only rule was no 4G or no iPhone. Right now we settled on the HTC Incredible 2. I have the original Incredible, while the HTC software isn't perfect, but at least I haven't had these issues..
Bye bye Motorola.. Another plus, if this HTC has issues, as least I can run CM7 easily now..
I had(?) the same problem
history:
before upgrading to 2.3.3 my Droid X was on Froyo and rooted. In fine noob fashion I deleted bloatware during that time without backing it up so when I attempted to updated to Gingerbread I was **** blocked.
The resolution was to SBF the phone back to stock Froyo then upgread to Gingerbread, it worked like a champ... sorta
I kept noticing that the phone was really sluggish on reboots, it also kept dropping the network connection, mostly when I moved out of a wifi hotspot, the 3G wouldn't connect, not until I rebooted. I tried a few things, uninstalled misc programs blah blah blah, some of it seemed to have worked temporarily but nothing was permanent.
So, yesterday, I did a Factory Data Reset, actually had to do it 3x's since the first 2 times somehow goofed the market so that it wouldn't download and install . But 3rd time was the winner and now everything seems resolved, no more whacked out loss data connections and faster reboots!
so my suggestion - Factory Data Reset
I totally agree. Vzw tier 1 tech support can be a waste of time. After taking 30 minutes to tell me to turn on wifi, one guy told me to right click on the settings menu. I told him it was a touch screen, does that mean I have to use my right hand?
Sent from my DROIDX using XDA App
I have the same problem on rooted OTA gingerbread. My solution for the time being is to setup tasker to reboot the phone at 3am everyday. If i go back to froyo the problems go away. I posted about this a while ago. It doesn't fix the problem it just masks it but I start with a fresh phone every morning.
I have the issue too, it started right after Gingerbread.
It was *really* bad until I re-activated my phone but it still happens almost every 48 hours.
As best as I can tell, it is most likely to happen when wifi is on and you have a weak cdma/3g signal.
I'm glad to hear that CM7 seems to clear it up. Between hardware instability, the compass quality being degraded and the ever imposing presence of Blur, I'm thinking I'll never again own a phone with a locked bootloader if I can help it.
I also setup tasker to reboot my phone at 3am every night. Did this several weeks ago and I've not had a network access issue since. Not a great solution but if you got root it does seem to make the problem go away.
Hey, let me know what you think of it. I thought about grabbing one cheap and using it until a good 4G & dual core comes out.
Not sure I could go with the smaller screen though.

I have this issue on an unlocked dev dx which has slightly older hardware than the current DX's but I'm glad to hear I'm not the only one with the issue. I'm going to experiment with some different radio versions, because this didn't happen with all the different leaked GB radios. It wasn't until I think the 588 build that it started for me.
+1
I have had this issue ever since GB dropped for it. I am on my third X since GB. The first one smoked a memory card and battery. So I got a like new phone and all the fixings. Then the second one was also having the data issue and the camera took a **** (shutter was stuck closed). All of these have also not only rebooted randomly from day 1 with GB. Go to make a call phone reboots, send a text phone reboots. I thought it also was apps and heard about Google Voice causing it. So when I got this third one I only setup apps that it came with and nothing else. not even 2 days into having it the same **** was there. Less frequent but still there. They are going to get screamed at until I get a new device.
Switch to cm7. I love it.

Gingerbread still has random reboot...

I thought gingerbread was going to fix the Atrix random reboot issue. Well it has not. Late last night while using the Atrix, poof. It restarted itself. This is probably my fourth Atrix, but it has lasted the longest without a reboot.
Sent from my MB860 using XDA App
It has happened to me atleast twice now ever since updating OTA to Gingerbread.
Phone is just rooted nothing else.
I have never experience this problem on stock or custom roms. You don't have any custom kernels installed, such as overclocking, do you?
In my experience (maybe twice in a month) this happens when there is signal/reception, but no data, and you start pushing the phone my trying multiple data enabled apps.
On both occasions I had full bars/signal yet no data (stupid telco) or very slow data, in frustration I was hitting refresh, opening other apps to kill time / see if it was app or network problem etc. then BAM. Kinda like how a corporate windows build loses its mind if it loses its connection to its domain resources.
Annoying
I had this issue before, and it was an issue with the phone itself not the software. If it is still within your 90 days return it for a new one and that should fix your problem.

no chance for me, in Australia, grey market import
In all honesty not a big deal if it doesn't happen too often
I'm on stock everything on my Atrix. I font think swapping the phone works, like I said this is my fourth Atrix lol.
My reboots happen at random. No specifics are the same at anytime. If I do swap it again though it will be for another phone entirely, but for what I don't know. I know a few people with the Inspire and they've had their problems. I know one person with the Infuse who has yet to have an issue, but either way I'm taking a huge downgrade.

Reboots
Anyone got a solution? I just updated Tuesday and I have had many random reboots. I am having the reboot 3-4 times a day. I never had the issue prior to Gingerbread.
I haven't had any reboot issues on mine nor my GF's, but I agree that it seems to be either the phone or a faulty app.
I know someone that had 2 from early batches and finally had a stable one after returning the others and hasn't complained of any issues since then.
Another co-worker had issues but uninstalled an app that kept force closing and never had the reboot issues come back.
One other thing to try is a factory reset...if it hasn't been attempted yet.
just had my first reboot over the weekend. other than that its not rebooted yet. but its only a week old.
