[Q] android on main storage and roms? - Touch HD General

hey guys,
i have a lot of questions...
i tried android on my hd a lot of times....
the first times it worked finde but the latest roms are all crashed after a while
after deep sleep they are all freezing...
so the first question, is it an issue of my rom i´m using?
which one are you using for android? especially the devs which one are you using to try youre andrid?
i think its the best way if evertybody is using the same one to find out whick´h errors are comin from the windows rom or from android?
okay next question...
why is it not possible to install the cab on the main storage of the hd? a lot of errors are issued by the slow spped of the sd card? in my opinion it would fix a lot of probs if we can install android on the main storage, it would imrpove speed and saves sd card?
i´m not a dev so i don´t know if there is any possibility or not, its just a question for my understanding
i´m really looking forward to see a android rom for he hd bur i know its hard work for our devs here...
maybe we can make a bonus, everybody who wants a rom for android will pay 10 euros or dollar in jackpot and the guy who make a rom working will win the pot ;-)
thanxs for your answers and sorry for that bad german english
best wishes from germany
tom

is there really nobody who lnwos any answers?

it's just useless to reply because it has already been explained 10.000 times all over. If you at least 'd take the time to read

where is it explained which rom each dev is using? is ther any thread? if yes pls show me, cause i read a lot of time here.
and where is exaxtly written why we definitly canßt use the mainstorage?

We still need windows to initialize a lot of the hardware before launching android, for the moment.
At the moment, we cannot figure out the way to initialize it before booting android, this is why there's no android ROM ready.
Besides, there's still a lot more urgent/important things to do before (Deep sleep causing crashes, HW3D not working on Blackstone, and battery life, for example)

It's explain, countless time.
READ
then read again.
It's in the virtually all the main FAQ's.
AND this isn't a f**king ROM... THAT is explained in the FAQ's too.

oh i think you got me wrong. i don't want to install it like a rom. my questiin was about installing the cab on the mainstorage instead of the sd card. cause the reading time of the sd will be the biggest ussue which makes android slow and will causetbe problem of the waiting for... problems.

Please, there's no need to be rude, even if those questions were already asked and answered countless time, you're just losing your own time.

For the moment, we don't have access to the mainstorage from android, only the sdcard, if I remember correctly.

Alright people!
I am the developer of the SenseHERO rom for the HTC Hero (http://ip208-100-42-21.static.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=698281). I have recently obtained a HTC Touch HD so I will begin developing for you when I get some spare time.
Has anybody yet been successfully in getting tinboot working from NAND yet? If not then I may have to get my hands dirty and see what I can achieve just for experimental purposes obviously with the full awareness that alot of work will be needed to get hardware properly initialized.
If we get stuck the best person to get info for this would be DZO who made android from NAND a reality for the Vogue/Kaiser who are now running it on their Devices as stable & fast as the Native Android Phones..
Best Regards,

NAND Flash for Android!! For Real?

Anyone seen this thread in the polaris forum.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=625200
They claim to have working ROM to flash directly to NAND for a few devices. (Not Blackstone though) So can a Android Blackstone ROM be far out?
to be honest this flash is pretty pointless until android has got rid of the bug that keeps causing it not to wake up because once thats fixed it will be stable enough to use as a rom but for the moment there not much point in it except for proof of concept
Yes, but this seems like a HUGE move forward. Some have said there would never be a flashable ROM for Android on WinMo phones, or at least a long time out.

It's far from pointless, it's now the way forward for the kaiser, polaris and vogue Android users, yes it's still in development, yes there are still issues, but it's yet another step to a single flashable nbh based system for ROM installation, thanks to this method we now have working gps, wifi, sleep, lower battery drain and faster systems than we did 2 months ago.
Yes there is still a lot of work to be done, but the progress over the last months has been outstanding.
Don't know if anyone is working on a Nand flashable installer for the Blackstone or not, but I think it's only a matter of time.

if like you said sleep is working it is worth flashing, i suppose i am constantly using android and am reseting every time it crashes but for some users this isn't viable at all
It's still experimental, I use it flashed for experimenting with, but it's still not stable enough for the average user, i carry an sd with a rom image if i really need to reflash back to winmo.
however it's in active development, and is getting more useable all the time.

this is really really exciting stuff how long do you think until this will be availible for the average user and if you need some more testers for this shot me a pm on how to do this and i will be more than willing
just been reading through that thread and by the looks of this flashing it onto your device seems to be much more stable people have been able to et gps working, but i'm confused whats the difference between a nand flash and a normal flash because from what i've been reading it seems as if you have to flash something then do the rest on your device. but i am looking into this and when i understand it, if its possible (with a few mods) i will flash on to touch hd, but from what i understand atm it doesn't seem possible its all just waiting for the devs atm
com'on theres gotta be some dev out there working on this is so please contact me i wonna help.
Ive heard by a friend that they have sucsessfully flased a iPhone with android. Can anyone confirm this? This is all i could find using our friend google

this wouldn't surprise me much but would also surprise me as well at the same time firstly due to the fact that android is taking over iphone os very rapidly and in my opinion for at least me i think it is far superior due to editabiltyconfused and things like that but i would be a bit surprised as this is apple and they really do lock there devices down alot, i mean i am typing this from a mac and i love it and i personally have never need windows on it and will never need it but it kinda seems quite unlikely if there aren't any videos or anything on youtube.

Be nice
Because no matter how much we complain it will still happen and you know it.
No need to stress yourself over it.
As stated in previous post, Different members have different needs. Different builds have different flaws. They say the Desire hd beta 2 is fantastic but the camera doesnt work.
I have tried most of the other builds and for some reason I always end up reverting to shubcraft 1.5
While it may be time consuming you should test these builds out for yourself.
This is a development based community and your constructive feed back is vital to everyone. Because they dont have a hired beta team we do the beta testing and provide feedback. If testing seems like to much work then you should probably wait it out.

So many NAND roms, How do I know which to choose?

I've been booting Android from the sdcard for a bit now but with the occasional freezes and really poor batt life, I am hoping the NAND method would help alleviate that at least.
Looking for a NAND rom for TMobile USA HD2s with the least amount of non-functional stuff obviously . There's so many NAND roms in the NAND dev page, I don't even know where to begin.

It depends , do you want sense or not , froyo or gingebread , good battery life or good performance, build where everything is working or where something isnt but you dont care about it.
try some builds and if you dont like them flash another one.
You should try a RAM rom in the sd section. Those are very fast. Faster than the NAND one im using now.only reason why im using NAND now is because Im too lazy to go back.
Sent from my HTC HD2 using Tapatalk
I'd give cleanDroid a try. With the exception of wifi hotspot, everything appears to work.
im looking for the one that have the battery drain level comparable to WinMO... cause most of the one I tried drained a lot of juice??
Thanks

Looking for stability, good battery, wifi (usb or hotspot), most things work. Looking for something where I can install and not have to keep changing over and over again.
Sorry to thread hi-jack you, but I also need some advice.
I need a froyo rom that has these:
- best battery life
- everything working
- sense ui
- runs very smooth
- NAND
Thanks.
Guys the only and best way to find a rom that works for you is to try them yourself.
Go and read the 1st post of some topics, decide which one you like sound of and flash it. If it turns out you dont like it move on.
It clearly states what works and what doesn't in each build topic, If you want something more stable go for a newer build and check change log.
I think you can pick your choice easily by elimination .....
1) choose only Tmos roms.
2) Sense or no sense,
then you will only end up with a few roms.......

HELP IMPROVE FUTURE WP7 ROM DEVELOPMENt BY DISCUSSING PROS AND CONS TO BUILDS!!!!!

To start off with I am impressed with some of the newer builds of the wp7 os on hd2 as they have included the hd7 phone id built into rom making the Chevron mod very simple, but there are few more issues
1 there are many issues with live services even after u input os key
2 there are errors when it come to communicating with live services to download apps
3 phone still restart many times and will some times go into what i call a dead sleep ( its where phone goes into standby and will not go back into unlock screen) you have to wait 3-4 minutes and even then u r lucky if u don't have to pull out battery and reset phone.
4 although newer builds often allow u to have more unregistered apps working they still have communication issues with wifi/network
5. camera is working on some builds but after picture is taken it comes out a bit green
The point for this thread is for u to post your links to your favorite builds of the wp7 and help future development buy discussing pros and cons to different builds
my fav build
[19 Feb][ROM] blackSideSeven v1.2.7004
LINK: http://hotfile.com/dl/106013534/837ae7f/elMInStER.blackSideSeven.1.2.7004.rar.html
rom has built in Chevron
and phone id is HD7
when u install language is in Polish so just change it to English or what ever language u want
I have had more luck with this build than any other one i have used it is much less buggie than the other builds i have tried, if u don't mind changing the language give this rom a try
All the builds are more or less the same at this point, this thread is completley useless. Future rom dev is helped by replying to the devs topics with issues etc.
I have none of teh issues you have, everything worked fine and no restarts. The green issue though is a well known bug.
PS. How has the rom got a built in "kitchen" , A kitchen is what is used to build a rom, So im confused on how the rom could have a kitchen built in?

+1.... I completely agree.
The only difference between roms right now is the lockscreen and maybe a theme color or 2. They all have same tweaks and features.
I think a lot of the issues that the op is having sounds like they may be cause by a sd card that wp7 doesn't like... try using a different sd card. Class 2 or 4 sandisk are usually good.

Okay look the point to this thread is for people to simply discuss roms they like and give quick links to rom ect.. yes people can simply reply on the actual developers threads, but the point to this is for people to discuss what the like and dont like about different roms without having to go to the various threads, so this is not a useless thread... And yes the green cam is a well know bug but, all i was doing was stating some of the most common bugs, and although u may not have some of the other ones im sure there are people out there who experience the same ones

pretty much everything on your list is SD card related and effects all ROMs if you have a dodgy card, available ROMs are just clones of the original release with a few mods which they all use, the reason for this is its virtually impossible to make the same kind of changes as in android or WM..
the green tint on camera is a driver issue, which can not be solved with cooks, the market place issues are largely SD related but the freeze is very much a MS bug, the main battery issue which you didnt mention is driver related
im not saying this thread has no point, but i am saying your a bit too early,
but in the spirit of the thread
Dont bother with any other rom just now, there is no point with patches just around the corner that no one on here is capable of using, other than the DFT team, many of the bugs on these other roms were created only after the rom was fiddled with in the first place, however, if your not capable of following the instructions and installing the DFT release than use one of the newer ones as its much much easier

There are no pros and cons to the different roms because they are all the same... same build, same tweaks... only difference is maybe lockscreen and theme colors. Thats why there is no point to a thread like this yet... not until there is a difference between roms.
Also, if your phone is restarting and having issues with it going to sleep like you said, that is caused by using a sd card not compatible with wp7. Many of your other problems are probably also caused by that. Try a different SD card. Anyone having problems with the phone restarting ever or any lag or freezing should try a different sd card. Problems like that are not from specific roms... like I said, all the roms work pretty much exactly the same.

[Q] Which root Operating System for HD2 has no issues?

I bought a second hand HD2 for my parents which has all this Telstra stuff in there running at Winmob 6.5. I would like to load a clean operating system for their phone because they are overwhelmed by all this Telstra stuff. They are not even using Telstra. The HD2 is an unlocked Australian Telstra model which I am unsure as to whether that is still called Leo.
Which of the Android hacks are solid and everything works on the HD2 when installed with no bugs or issues?
Which Winmob 7 root is free and I can install on the HD2 where it runs the phone fully with no bugs or issues?
Which Winmob 6.5 root that is free that I can install on the HD2 where it runs the phone fully with no bugs or issues?
If you can provide links, would be greatly appreciated!
Thank you
spend some time searching and reading, you are looking for the 'holy grail' of smart phones and I wish you luck. If your parents find additional content hard to manage they are unlikely to cope with a custom ROM, best buy them a simpler phone that just does what they require straight from the box.
I'm looking for the Loch Ness monster, the ark, and King Solomon's mines. Any links would be appreciated. Seriously, what you are asking for is a difficult, possibly impossible thing. All roms have issues and if your parents are overwhelmed by a stock rom, chances are, anything on xda will be a challenge. Having said that, I think that a basic Android nand rom might work. Several are available in that subforum. You might have to engage in some trial and error to find the right fit, though.
I think one of the best rom for now is HyperDroid , it is very nice very smooth and so far i know had no any problems for me . Everything works just fine

Why would you say that a custom ROM usually has all of the unwanted bloatware removed and are smoother than any stock ROM. They also give you better access to controls on your HD2 and most of the time better functionality than wioth stock ROMs.
At the OP yes you are looking for the holy Grail LOL ........ A ROM is something that is more of a personal preference than just good or not good. what one person may like in or about a ROM someone else might hate. As treo...not! said you wioll have to just go through and test a ROM and see what you think, "Trial and error." The Hyper Droid ias good though it is what I am running noe on my HD2. check my sig for a link to it and other things too lol.
nexushd2-gingerbread v2.5 is simple and clean. no problems.

I would suggest WP7, simple easy to use, highly stable, more stable than any OP I have ever used and hav tried all even dare I say it iOS. I have dual boot Wp7/android and I use wp7 90% of the time, re only thing that might happen to them is a slighlty blurred photo.

You are going to have some issues with any ROM. I suggest that you install a clean WM6 (I use NRG), then customize the Sense tabs so that they have only the ones they actually use. That should be stable and easy to use.
If they have trouble with that, I think that WP7 is probably the easiest to use in terms of the interface, but from what I have read it can be difficult to get the HD2 WP7 burn officially recognized as a valid WP7 installation, so that the marketplace & etc can be used effectively. You can look at the HD7 forum for more information.
Sorry but if he wants to put WP7 on his parents HD2 he needs to go to HD2 Windows Phone 7 this has all the info iun these forums for running WP& on the HD2. Also check out the little guide I wrote on HSPL, MAGLDR, and CWM linked in my sig.
