Flash 10.1 on eris? - Droid Eris Android Development

I am kind of a noob so please forgive me if this post is in the wrong place, or if there is another post that addresses this.
Are there any roms working for the eris that have a working version of flash 10.1? I would love to be able to watch hulu on my phone.

Not yet that I'm aware.
Your only chance is in a froyo rom, if your running one and it doesn't have it then no.
I believe part of the problem is the flash libraries are written for processors that are newer than the Eris, so until a dev rewrites the libraries to work with a lower processor, which would be difficult, I don't see it happening.
Could be wrong though
BTW just for reference this post should be in the general section

I have heard that because the stock eris rom can run flash lite, it is possible for it to run full flash it is just a matter of fixing the code. xtrSENSE supposedly has working flash 10 as an added flash-able zip file, but it doesn't work. Anyway, I hope someone gets this figured out because it would be awesome. Thanks.

Flash 10.1 works on 2.1. It's just a matter of it being able to load in time before server determines it fails..( hence the reason why hulu/fancast dont work)
Look for my posts in the link above, you should be able to get it to work.

There are two releases for the flash 10.1. One for phones running on 2.1 and ones running 2.2. I have the KaosFroyo v39 on my droid eris and tried the flash plugin for 2.2 but it wouldn't install. I downloaded the flash plugin for 2.1 and it installed. I heard the 10.1 plugin for the 2.2 works on the newer droid phones that received the original froyo updates. i can't verify cause i don't own one.
Since I'm new and cannot put links in my post yet, you are going to have to Google them.
Sorry!

Skyfire Browser
I have found that the Skyfire browser app from the market can play flash. If you are using a 2.2 ROM then I suggest installing this app. On a side note I have read the HULU is note making videos available for mobile browsers. Correct me if I am wrong.

you don't read the posts do you? : p
Skyfire will work with 2.1 & 2.2 w/o any problems.
Yes, Hulu blocks mobile devices.
and yes, our ARM v6 process sucks my ****, but we're still here cuz we love our phones.

at least until the iOS4 is a viable option later this month...

The flash "10.1" is set up.for sense roms. You can install on sense 2.1&2.2. The apk is set up ONLY for sense through.

It'll install but crash your browser. Its not going to work because the developers of flash 10.1 for mobile devices never wrote an "instruction set" for our type of processors, ARM v6.

[KITCHEN] Basic ROM kitchen for new Eris cooks [PC/Mac]

Hi guys,
Lately I have been developing a kitchen to help ordinary people learn how to build their own ROM on HTC-based Android devices. It allows you to do basic things such as rooting a shipped ROM, adding apps2sd, modifying the task killer memory threshold, etc.
Today I added some settings to make it work for the Droid Eris, but I am unable to test it, as I don't have an Eris.
Here is the link to the kitchen:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=633246
Please try it out if you can, and let me know if it works
Before flashing any ROM from the kitchen, please make a Nandroid backup first of your existing ROM!
Thank you, and enjoy!
I will cook a rom with your kitchen and test it on my Eris. Thank you for your work.
Will update with results.
UPDATE!
kitchen mostly works, the roms build and they flash onto the phone. had a few problems with setting task management, then tried option 14 and 15 with a few errors as well, so i just skipped that and just did a very basic rom build. so the core of the kitchen works and you can build roms, the issues i am having could be with my setup or it could be that DSIXDA was unable to test it before releasing, but for an untested kitchen it is FANTASTIC!
if this works does this mean we can overclock our phones..?

what from the first two posts made you think this?
because i was reading that with this we can make a rom that doesnt belong on our phone and make it to where it can go on our phone. soo if we get a rom that can be over clocked will that work
Thank you!! Of course I am damned by the leak but I feel a root coming on and this will really come in handy...

I don't believe you would be able to make a ROM that have the capabilities to OC. With all these current ROMS that have been made by competent cooks, yet none of them OC. But hey, you might be able to and prove me wrong. Which I do hope you can. But I have read from a few forums that OC is not that possible.
We don't have the source for 2.1 for our phone. When we do then OC'ing will be possible. That won't be released until hopefully with or shortly after official 2.1 OTA is released from Verizon.
Thanks!
Probably won't be cooking as much as fiddling with ROMs to suit my own ideals of them, but this seems like it might open the doors to a lot more people.
Just tried porting the DarchDroid ROM:

Everything was successful and I got a signed ROM, but it wouldn't boot. Just got stuck on splash. Tried doing logcat too but nothing showed up.

Yesterday there wasn't any Droid Eris support, that's why it wasn't working yesterday. I had to modify the kernel build command a bit for the Eris. Actually, now that I think about it, the code from yesterday should still work, as it correctly figured out the kernel's base address.
I'll dig into it a bit more...

Basically the kernel's physical base address and the WiFi module. There are a few minor things as well. I did not port an Eris ROM myself when I had the Hero, but this is what people have told me.

dsixda, when i tried to follow your setup guide for your kitchen, i noticed that you didnt have any links for x64 based linux setups. i tried to find the java bin and jre install files but linux is new to me and i dont think i grabbed the right ones. would you be able to point me to the right links for those on ubuntu 9.10 x64?
thanks!
Have you tried obtaining the Java package with the sudo command? Unfortunately I have not tried the 64 bit method, nor have I been asked about it before. If you find a way please let us know.
If you guys are still having problems with the cooked ROM not booting, then I'll ask some of the experienced Eris cooks around here for help.

I will try cooking a new ROM right now. No porting or anything, just a cooked ROM from the original 2.1 root with some apps removed so I know it is different.
Updating in a few...
I'm working on a ROM right now using your kitchen. I just recently came across your kitchen while searching the forums. I am using version v0.38 and I'm assuming eris support is on v0.39, correct? Should I just extract the the files into the same directory that I have been using for v0.38?
I'll let you know when I sign and try to flash if it works. Thanks for taking the time to do this.

Hulu on vibrant

So I tried installing hex edited flash apk from the evo forums to see if it would work on the vibrant and either I'm installing it wrong or there is a vibrant specific one that I can't find...so does anyone know how to make the hex edited flash apk work for the vibrant or can you direct me to the correct apk? Thanks in advance.
Sent from my GT-I9000 using XDA App
people were installing the evo version a while back (I actually have it on my phone) but it turned out not to work as full flash on the vibrant, (Theres a thread on it somewhere, I could find it for you if you like) it basically still is just flash light. (although a few people said it made flash not work at all) so in short, so far we still have to wait for Froyo unfortunately, there is as of yet, no full flash for the vibrant.
The apk looks for permissions that are only in froyo builds. You can flash one of Eugene's froyo roms and make it work though.
I tried using the files found at this link:http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=8132408&postcount=1 I was only able to get the Hulu app running, but it won't launch in the browser. BTW, don't try flashing the HuluFix.zip file, as it's for the Evo. You will have to push the libraries through ADB with the instructions given. The problem, I believe, is the browser because it doesn't have the UA String setting.

[Q] Flash 10.1 on Xandroid

Hello,
Why we can't install Flash Player 10.1 on Xandroid (Touch HD).
The app is not available on the Market and the .apk refuse to install
Thanks for your help !
I also posted this question several times but no one answered. This most probably means that this version is a fake Android 2.2. Most probably this is an Android 2.1 with some changes to make it look like Android 2.2
Because Android 2.2 Froyo has built in support for Flash, while this fake version neither has flash support nor would it allow flash player to install.
doesn't really matter, because flash on our phones is going to be painfully slow anyways
I found the answer : Flash 10.1 only support ARM7 cpu.
And our HTC Blackstone has a ARM6 cpu

I have working Flash "10.1.123.391", built-in 2.1+Sense build.
The main reason for Flash 10.1 only supporting Arm7 cpu's is that arm6 ones like in our blackstone are way to slow to run flash at a reasonable speed. You may be able to get it working, but it WILL lagg like hell

Hi,
I wondering if you could run a quick test on your phone - there's an app 'Flash on Webview' which shows if flash can be run inside apps. Can you tell me if that runs on your phone?
I'm thinking about downgrading from 2.2 to get this functionality but I want to make sure it works in Apps before I do.
Thanks!

Flash in stock browser?

Anu chance of getting flash videos to play in stock browser??.
I know ANDROID 4+ doesn't support flash and I know I'll have to download and install adobe flash player from the web(which I already did) it still doesn't play.
Btw, I also own HTC One and it plays flash in stock player out of the box so was wondering what's different

Found this in another forum post:
"Flash won't work with the built-in Webkit browser. After side-loading, no Flash love and there's no option to enable Flash in browser settings (unusual since the standard Webkit browser usually works with Flash Player and has that option)."
I've also read in other threads that Jelly Bean on the S4 does not have flash support at all for the stock browser. It also doesn't have a permanent desktop mode, open new tabs in background and a plethora of other features they left out. The S3 stock browser was far superior, not sure why they decided to remove all the features that are actually useful on the S4.
The stock browser as well as Google's Chrome browser no longer support Flash as Adobe released a statement in late 2011 that they will no longer be providing any support to the mobile platform. This means no stability updates as well as no security updates. However, Firefox for android still supports Flash playback and I've found that most Flash content is supported. Full screen is hit or miss but otherwise you should find solace there.

[Q&A] [ROM][G900V][NI2]EXTREME SYNDICATE v2.1! READY NOW!

Q&A for [ROM][G900V][NI2]EXTREME SYNDICATE v2.1! READY NOW!
Some developers prefer that questions remain separate from their main development thread to help keep things organized. Placing your question within this thread will increase its chances of being answered by a member of the community or by the developer. Thanks for understanding and for helping to keep XDA neat and tidy!
Hi all. Is 2.1 using Android 4.4.4? Why isn't it using NE9? (Diff between that and NI2?) Are there any known bugs to this release? If so, could we expect a 2.5 release semi-soon? I'm scared to flash due to other people's troubles so far but have been eagerly waiting an update! This has been a near-perfect ROM for me who likes minimal and stripped down. Making it even more stripped down starts to make me worry though. Haven't any experience with mods other than viper4android. Is that HX camera mod better than the included camera in ExtremeSyndicate 1.5?
Sorry for newb post.
there isnt much dif in ni2.. just a newer version.. it is more debloated but you dont really need to mod anything.. just simply install/push what you want to the phone

That is correct. Find a Android keyboard apk and place it in internal storage or on sdcard. After you have flashed the ROM use the "My Files" app included in the ROM to install the keyboard apk. That is how I understand the process. I'm not sure, but trying to install the "L" keyboard might not be a simple as installing an apk. I think, but not sure, there are some supporting files that you need for the "L" keyboard to properly function. A simple, no frills keyboard may be a better option until you're up and running and then try installing the "L" keyboard or other keyboard from the play store.

Good to hear. I'm not sure about the dark theme, we'll have to ask elliwigy. As far as Google Calendar not syncing, elliwigy removed more "stuff" for this build, he may have eliminated a file needed for sync.

+1 on what BigBot96 said. Your ROM is exactly what I had been wanting for years. A lean, fast, great battery ROM that provided all the basic functions of a smartphone without all the BS bells and whistles. No matter what you do, there will always be someone who wants something different than what YOU want. Let potential users of your ROM know up front what you offer and if that doesn't "float their boat" they can either not flash your ROM or they can add what they want. Let them know up front that you don't offer or support a "buffet line of options". They can like it or, well, leave it and go flash something else.
I miss this rom! For all my devices, with all the roms I tried, this was my favorite. If I could build a rom (which I can't), I would have built something almost identical to this one. You stated you stopped developing because you were busy, tired of trying to debloat more and tired of getting flamed. I accept your stopping as version 1 was to me perfection, and I agree, it would have been so hard to improve upon it.
I tried a couple of other roms. While good, they were not nearly as perfect as this one. I think I'll go back to version 1 to see if I can figure out what is missing from version 2. Then it's back to glory for me. Thanks for all your hard work. I've been busy traveling that I didn't take the time to tell you thanks man. Happy holidays. If you build another rom, can you post a notice here. All the best.
version 2.1 was updated to ni2 but before i could theme n work out some kinks i shut it down.. i was working on the opposite but ran into some issues with 5.0 apks not working.. I will be posting a new rom as soon as we get 5.0! i already have a working list of what to debloat (based on disecting the g900f build) so you will see me again! In the meantime, I have been learning to code since ultimately I want to create apks for various things

I never did understand why people expected stuff to be added back into a ROM when it's main purpose was to be "lighter" with each update makes no sense to me lol. Anyway, I'm running V1 and it's simply awesome! I just rooted and installed V1 on my wife's phone today (she actually ASKED me to root it lmao, I about fell over) but I would really like to have the flashlight toggle that appears to be included in V1.5. Is there an easy way to get the flashlight toggle? Is there a link somewhere for V1.5 (I haven't found one yet)? Can I dirty flash it over V1?
