Hello everyone.
Can you please let me know how nexus one integrate with Facebook? does it fetch my all of friend list from facebook and add them to my contact list or it let me specify which group of friend I want to integrate into my contact list.
Thanks.
Yes it pulls all the known contacts you have from Facebook and add it to your phone contacts, it even pulls there picture, it will also combine contacts if you have duplicates, ie a Bob h from phone is combined with Bob h of Facebook to make one contact onyour phone with all the data of both.
Unfortunately it's not perfect. It combined my Danny and Daniel contacts (both on my phone previous to FB sync) into a single Danny Lopez contact
What about if you only want the google contacts to be synced with facebook? Will it do that? and if you already have pictures for the contacts, will the sync replace the pictures with their Facebook profile pic?
You have to manually turn Facebook Sync on, so if you don't want it to sync your facebook contacts, simply don't enable that function. That's the only thing the facebook sync does that I can see. It gives you some options when you add the account on how you want it to sync, but I can't remember what those options are, and can't figure out how to change them after I already added my account
you can choose to sync only those contacts that are already in your contacts list.
i think it works like this:
for all contacts in your list, find facebook friends with that email address. if no google contact image, then pull facebook image.
for all contacts in your list without email addresses, find facebook friends with that name. pull email addresses, adn if no google contact image, then pull facebook image.
Here are the options Facebook gives you:
Sync All (Sync data about all friends to Contacts)
Sync with existing contacts (Sync data only about friends already in Contacts)
Don't Sync (Use information about friends only in Facebook)
If the Nexus One incorrectly combines two different people together into the same contact, just edit the contact and select Separate in the menu. Then you can manually rejoin if you want.
For example, I have a couple of friends who have the same name as their fathers (except of course name suffix) and so I ended up with two contacts instead of four. I just went into those two, separated them, and then did the rejoining manually. I wish there were better options for this (for example, if there's only one contact you want to separate out, you have to separate the whole contact instead of only being able to separate one out) but it's not particularly difficult to do.
Do you guys know how to unsync it? I synced it to see what it was and now I do not want all their pictures on the phone.
Does anyone know how to manually connect facebook accounts? Not all of my friends have their full names (or have alternate names) on facebook, it would be nice to link them.
Re: XfrostX in Settings, go to Accounts & Sync and just remove the Facebook account.
Re: Over Achiever in Contacts, long-press on the contact you want to connect a Facebook account to, select Edit contact, push menu and Join. It'll show a list of suggested contacts, or you can push Show all contacts and just select the one you want.

I must be misunderstanding the question or we're thinking of different things. You can very easily connect a facebook friend to a contact through the method I posted above.
Has anyone else found the photos from facebook sync are stupidly small? Mine have come through so small that when someone calls they're just a mess of pixels, and even when they appear as a little thumbnail in quicksearch they're just a tiny square. Seems like they're 20x20 or something.
Does anyone know of a way of uninstalling the Facebook app? I can't find it in the app list and I'd really rather not have it.
I'm able to join the Facebook contacts with my Google contacts, but no matter what I do, it always seems to change my contact's name to display what they have on their Facebook. For example, my mom and dad both have Facebook accounts, and after joining thier profiles, it doesn't show them as "Mom" and "Dad", but as their names. It's kind of annoying, because now whenever I try to find them, I have to look under their names. Has anybody else figured out a way around this?

Is her name on Facebook the same as that in your Google contacts? The only names that stayed the same when my contacts integrated were my sisters, and parents. In my Google contacts list, I have the words "Sister", "Mother", and "Father" written after their first name (so that if I get into a bad accident or something, emergency personnel can quickly notify the right people). I figured the phone recognizes those as keywords and doesn't change them.
Hi guys,
Just wondering if anyone else is experiencing the same problem I have where the emails for each contact are not displayed when viewing that contact. When I scroll over to the email "tab" while viewing a single contact, nothing is shown under emails.
If anyone knows how to fix this, please let me know! I've tried cleaning out my email accounts and re-doing the email account setups. It didn't help one bit.
Any help is appreciated.

perhaps a silly question... but have you got your contacts email address in their corresponding address book entry?? (ie. you need to have linked the 2 together for the phone to know that the email from [email protected] is from Joseph Bloggs in your contact list?)
Yep, I'm certain I have email addresses in the contacts and they refer to the emails I have in my email accounts. I even tried editing some of the email addresses and retyping them in the contact's info. Still no luck...
The weird thing is that I used to have this working... but for some reason it suddenly disappeared!
Make sure you are not running any task killers that would kill timescape then you will be fine. I used to kill timescape all the time and related functions stopped working properly.

I'm sure I didn't kill any Timescape or Mediascape or even Email app. I have them on the ignore list.
I just rebooted my phone and went right into the contacts, before the task killer does its auto-kill when the screen is off. Still no luck... emails still don't show up in the contact's "Emails".
The stupid thing is, when I go to Timescape, I can see the various contacts' emails listed. It even links up the contact's picture to the emails by displaying the contact's picture in the boxes. When I click on the infinite button on the Timescape's email box, it takes me to the right contact! Yet, when I'm in the contact, no emails are listed... I don't know what's going on.
FYI.. I uninstalled startup auditor and task manager on my phone on Friday.. and found that the phone battery lasts just as long.. and I'm having less problems with things not working!!.. perhaps worth trying that yourself?
Ok I figured out what the problem is. It seems if you have more than one email account setup, then emails will not show up in Timescape nor will they show up in the contacts' view.
I'm not sure if this is only me or are others experiencing the same bug. It seems the emails will only appear in Contacts' View if Timescape is working properly in updating its email spine.
I've read on the Sony Ericsson support site that Timescape only supports one email account. Maybe this has something to do with it. That is a really stupid cause for my problems if that's the cause.
I have added two e-mail accounts to the default Mail app. Both of them are shown in Timescape, and both are shown in contact view.
However, this didn't work before I deleted and re-added one of the accounts:

E-mails in Moxier, Gmail or K-9 e-mail apps don't show up in Timescape nor in contact view, though.
Hi,
I'm a bit annoyed by the way the Galaxy S works with Contacts:
All contacts are synced to Gmail instead of My Contacts
Gmail Groups are not synced, all Gmail contacts are in one group
No easy way to convert phone contacts to Google contacts or to merge contacts into a google contact
Essentially, I want to use GMail exclusively to manage contacts and have all of them synced between GMail and the phone.
I would appreciate any suggestions on how to achieve this, or maybe there is a better Contacts app out there?
This is not SGS issue, but the Android platform has been designed in the way that it's cloud computing centralised, in this case, Android phone is just the "client", you still need to maintain your contact in Gmail (web).
I tried delete a GMail contact in the phone, but that action will not delete the Gmail contact in Gmail server, sadly.
I've searched for solutions and found that the first two issues are solved on some phones, but that the Samsung Galaxy does not have the option to change the sync behaviour.
I want to maintain my contacts in GMail, but the problem is that the phone does not respect the GMail groups and it syncs "All contact", which means everyone I ever sent a mail. It should sync "My contacts", which only contains Contacts I created in GMail.
I hoped that there is maybe an alternative contacts app that does what I want.

I was also annoyed by that fact. But fortunately you can select to display only contacts with phone numbers associated in the contacts
application.
Just hit menu button while showing the list of contacts -> Display options -> only contacts with phones.
This at least solved my major issue with the google synching. Nice: typeahead in the gmail app still works for all people you ever sent a mail.

Try this , it did the trick for me

I have tried Contacts Evolved in the Market. It is a littly buggy, not even sure if it is actively supported. But it does display Gmail contact groups, segregated in tabs.
The actual syncing is still being done by the brain dead Samsung Contacts app, which cannot be uninstalled. It apparently does download the groups data element from Gmail contacts, but fails to do anything with it.
When I tried jp3 2.2 firmware the google groups showed, looks like it will be fixed in the 2.2 update.
Thanks for the answers. Displaying only contacts with phone numbers helps, and if the group thing is fixed in Froyo, thats alright for me.
Now I only need to convert my phone contacts to Google contacts, there should be an easy options like Phone to SIM and vice versa, but I could not find it. Looks like I may have to do it by hand.
This is like the only bad thing for me. Do more people confirm that it is fixed in Froyo?
Under the contacts menu of the streak everything is fine, but if I use another app or widget that access' my contacts, such as facebook sync or picture dial, I have multiple entries for each person, none of which are what is shown in my actual contacts list. For example someone has their phone number, email and picture (synced from facebook) in my actual contacts list, but in the program theres 3 versions, one with email and picture, one with just email and one with phone and email. It means when i try and use picture dial I cant select one that all the info it needs.
I also noticed that in the actual contacts list it doesnt seem to matter what sync options i set or what sub group im currently supposed to be looking at, it always shows the same contacts. For instance it won't show my gmail contacts even if i tell it to. It doesn't bother me, but I don't know if the two issues are related.
Any ideas anyone? Is there anyway to bulk get rid of all contacts? Then i could just get my computer to sync all the contacts back on again, though I'd have to go through and link them to facebook again so I'd rather not if i can avoid it.
Any help appreciated!
Is there anyway to remove the email addresses from my contact list?
Basicaly me and my mates send each other rendom text(jokes) .... When i want to send that text to other people i have to go through all my contacts checking the boxex for the people i want to text to, Now thats not the issue ... The problem is i have my facebook account linked to my wildfire so all my facebook cantacts emails show up in my contacts list!
Is there anyway i can remove those email addresses from my contact list?
Thank you.
In that case you have to remove the add book link to facebook. If not it will always display the email add from facebook is automatically displayed.

But if i do that wont that also remove the facebook mobile phone numbers too? ...
I didnt really wanna do that. I just wanted away with the email addresses in my contact list!
I'm not on the stock ROM anymore but I seem to remember there being a "Display only contacts with phone numbers" option somewhere. Just have a play around in the settings and I'm sure you'll find it.
For only show numbers in 2.1 Android:
Load people, hit menu, thenview.
As for what you are asking, I've yet to see anything.
