How much is your app collection worth? - EVO 4G General

Here's my stats from AppBrain (installed apps only; doesn't include ~$8 for LauncherPro Plus and Titanium Backup Donate):
Device:
HTC Evo 4G (last sync 18 sec ago)
Apps:
126 total, 95 free (75%), 31 paid (24%)
Total Size:
113MB
Total price (currently):
$92.30

I've been using Android since January, so this is just over half a year of purchases. My total price (counting 5 non-installed apps with a value of $11.03 and the $8 for LPP and TB) is:
$111.33
I spend too much on apps.

$6. Psx4droid has been my first and only purchase.
I love Android because I can find a free app for anything. If I want it nicely polished, I can spend a couple of dollars.

I felt like an idiot when I saw the "value" of my app collection after installing AppBrain. Evo is my first Android and I went a little nuts with the accessories and apps and stuff.
So mine is like $98.00 since Evo launch.
I don't plan on buying any more, really. Although I hope some of my purchases, like Ad-Free TuneWiki and ROM Manager, and Astro ad-free, etc I will be able to use for years on the Android platform. I also burned some $$ trying to find an invisible skin that is not garbage.
The sad part is that in about 10 and a half months I'll be on to the next phone and all these extra screen protectors and cases and all that will be just spare parts for me.

Do what I do and just sell them with your EVO. I always included my cases and screen protectors as "bonuses" in my eBay auctions.

I purchased Remote RDP Enterprise, and my company paid me back for it. So really, I haven't spent anything.
jcjr81: you can check the info on the appbrain website, not the app.

LOL! I'm glad I'm not the only one
I'll have to get app brain just to find out exactly but I'm certain it's over $100 for me.
My app collection did begin last december with my hero though, and I have bought a few pricey ones like docs to go ($15) and xtralogic's rdp ($20)
I think it would be interesting to see what I've donated to various devs over the last 6 months too, that's up there as well, probably about $80 I'd guess.
*edit- That was a good guess, my app drawer value is $106.29
TheBiles- Thanks for this thread, I probably wouldnt have checked out AppBrain for several months. What a cool program!

I'm a big spender...

No. There are plenty of free android apps. I will buy an app that had a free ad supported version because I abhor advertisements in my apps, I don't feel any guilt using an ad blocker. If your app is great then let me pay for it!
Of course if one is the type that would brick a phone to get it replaced then there are very few paid apps...
It's kind of cool to see the app developers coming up with ways to ensure their paid apps are actually being paid for.
*edit- this post was not meant to be a dig at anyone. I admit I haven't paid for all of my paid apps but if it's worth keeping I always end up paying for them when they get an update.

do you know where a list of apps are besides the "market"?

I am poor as crap right now, so i haven't bought any apps yet(only had it for a week though), so, $0.00 .

Word. I bought the G1 because it wasn't an Iphone. The physkeys are freaking awesome and I can't live without them.. because onscreen keyboard for emulating would suck.
Would have bought it if it weren't for the resistive screen.
Tattoo (a.k.a. Click) doesn't have WiFi either.
Forget about us true geeks. This thing is geared towards mainstream consumers who want a cheap phone. I bet by the time it rolls into the US market, with the carriers' subsidies (read: 2-year contract) it will probably be free.
Can you imagine what this will mean to the Android ecosystem? Suddenly the OS will be in the hands of the people who likely never before seen the power of a smartphone. With even more carriers on board, developers will flock to Android like flies to sh*t because of higher market penetration, availability and exposure their apps will gain. Forget iTunes and their gazillion fart apps. I just hope Google gets their Market act together sooner rather than later.

Before I settled for a G1 I was going to get a Nokia 5800 which was new at the time, 300 Minutes, Unlimited Texts, Unlimited o2 Calls for £20 a month, free phone. 18 Month Contract
It's nothing "special" almost all of our phones are free on contracts unless you want a brand new mega expensive phone (IE Nokia N97) on a dirt cheap £20 a month tarrif for a 12 month contract.
12 month contracts were the norm, this has slowly changed to 18 months int he past few years. We do have 2 year contracts and you can get some cheap and good deals on them but the majority go for an 18 month.

You still lucky. I got impatient. T-Mobile was sold out and I was waiting to get mine. I camped out in front of T-Mobile waiting for the UPS truck to come for a couple of hours. Then decided to check out the hood store and see if they had any and they said they had 4. By the time I got there which was right down the street they had 1 left. So I got it and when they went to ring me up it was like $350. And I was like dam it ain't that much at T-Mobile and they was like we aint T-Mobile. I got it anyways then about an hour later T-Mobile called me and said they got them in and got one for me. It was already to late at that time and I couldn't return it to the store since they got the ol no refund policy. Oh well I was happy with it.

[Q] Anybody bought it with the Best Buy financing?

I'm thinking on buying The Xoom either the full amount ($799) or getting it via Best Buy financing for 18 months no interest. Just wondering if anybody got the 18 month financing payment what is your monthly payment? Also what did you have to pay up front? Thanks in advanced
I'm neither an account nor a math wiz, but at 18 months no interest for $800, you're looking at payments around $50 a month.

After tax your looking around 850/18 months is gonna be around $50 a month like said above.
Yeah I was just wondering if there were any other fees and stuff, cause if so I would just buy the whole thing up front. If not then monthly would better
I have purchased a few Items at best buy with zero intrest, just make sure you remember to pay it off before promotion expires, there are no other fees.
You don't *have* to pay a set amount each month, you do have to at least pay a minimum. You could pay $100 one month, $25 the next, etc.
If it *isn't* paid off by the end or if you miss a payment completely, there used to be small print that says they could charge you all the interest at that point.
The "no interest" is a little mis-leading, there is a monthly percentage fee for "debt cancellation" which is basically the fee for not charging you interest. It's significantly reduced from actual interest gain, but it still isn't a true 0.
On the whole, if you can afford it upfront, you'd save yourself some money.
I see. Thanks for the info fellas

debt cancellation (account shield) is not mandatory and is always 100% optional.
OP You can pay your payment in store (cash or check, no credit cards) as well as online. Otherwise there is a minimum payment due every month (I wanna say either 10 dollars or 10%). If you have any more questions shoot!
Agree i have never heard of the percentage fee. And i am been using them for years, i just make sure to pay it off way early and never ever be late.
I'm pretty sure he signed up for account shield which is roughly ~$1.20? on every 100 dollars you spend

I bought my macbook pro from bestbuy no interest 18 months. I paid the minimum (about $25 a month) for about a year. Then I made several large payments of $200 over the next few months to pay it off. So what I'm saying is u can pay it off at any rate or structure u want just don't miss a payment.
If u don't pay off in 18 months, the APR is somewhere around 25% lol. So pay that sucker off early!!! I think I was done a month or so early. (25% on $1400 isn't very fun).

Yea its extremely ridiculous. That's why they offer 0% interest over 18 months is because the deferred interest is massive. Its really a solid deal, even if you want to just buy it and pay it off a few months later, not wait the whole 18 months.
Wow, I never knew that the account shield was some added thing I signed up for...I'm totally canceling that.

It's not about the prices, it's about Amazon's customer service. My imported Galaxy Nexus that I got from Amazon went bad after 6 months of ownership. Galaxy Perks = $600+ in what world?

Ok so I'm wondering how they get that the Galaxy Perks for the Note 10.1 2014 are worth "over $600".
Lets break it down:
Samsung Hub ($50) by the way this Samsung Hub sucks, they have very few books, their movies are insanely over priced to rent or buy and I'd rather get my apps from the Google Play Store.
Google Play ($25) - Only worth wild thing I've used so far
Audible ($44.85) this doesn't even seem like a good deal, 1 free book a month for 3 months? (eh ok if you sign up on their website you get the first month free so I'm taking this down to $29.9
Hulu Plus (23.85) - 2 months free
Boingo ($119) - Free Wifi? Ok not to sure how this works yet
SirusXM Internet ( $44.97) though if you sign up on their website you get 1 month free so dropping this to $29.98) Also its only for new customers so if you got Sirus your SOL.
Zinio ($10) - Digital Magazines?
Ok so now we are at $287 or $317.67 if I didn't subtract anything.
So where is the missing $283+ perks?
$6 USD = $1 Samsung dollar :good:

On the other hand, I set a pretty low value on all the rest of it, so there we go.

Unfortunately, they had the same off a year ago when I bought my original note 10, and so I already have the 50gb for 2 years. And it seems you can't get the offer again, even though this is a new and different tablet.

18 months ago I registered my Galaxy S3, got 50GB Dropbox. Recently tried getting another 50GB when activated my Note 2014. Did not get additional 50GB.
Then created a new user for my wife on the home screen, used her DB email address. She got the 50GB added to her account.
Has anyone tried creating a 3rd user to see if they also get an additional 50GB?

If I understand correctly what you're asking, no, you can't use it for two accounts. I've had the bonus added to my account, then tried to login to a different account (after flashing stock rom to get rid of root), but didn't get the bonus. Seems that it's tied to one device?

18 months ago I registered my Galaxy S3, got 50GB Dropbox. Recently tried getting another 50GB when activated my Note 2014. Did not get additional 50GB.
Then created a new user for my wife on the home screen, used her DB email address. She got the 50GB added to her account.
Has anyone tried creating a 3rd user to see if they also get an additional 50GB?

You can't get an additional 50gb but you can extend it I believe

You're right. Created a 3rd account that has DropBox, did not get additional 50GB on it.
