Blinking LED constantly while using Android - HD2 Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting and Genera

I've had a quick search but cant seem to find anything. So thought I would ask.
When using android the green status LED at the top of the HD2 keeps blinking. A bit like when you get a message in WM. Is this normal or have I set something up wrong.
Using darkstone release with latest cotulla zimage.

It is a "feature" since the last zimage. i think it will be fixed with a zimage in the future.
superb work, thank you all devs

Its to attract the attention of the iphone users.... in morse code its say "Look at me I can run more than one task, and more than one operating system!"
It's a shame it doesnt project a big neon sign above it saying the same!

Isn't this how most WM devices used to be? (Not exactly sure, as the TP2 was my first WM device. Perhaps someone more experienced could step in.)
I think their LEDs would constantly blink to show the phone was on.
Maybe it's the same thing.

I have the same problem (with the same ROM). Also the key pad lights stay on also. Not that bothered by it because the awesomeness of Android/froyo outweighs any negatives!

Yes, it lets you know that the thing hasn't locked up as well!

You can avoid the keypad lights to stay on with the following:
When your phone is shut down turn it on.
When windows is booted never press a button from the keypad!
Go to your sd card and android folder and start calcid.exe and haret.exe.
Now the keypad shouldn´t turn on the lights!

Thanks for the help. I've had my phone running android for a few hours and now the blinking LED has stopped. So now I'm very confused but oh well not major issue.
Keep up the good work devs. I'm going to donate by not sure who to donate too yet lol!

Eris problems I've been having

The reason i put this in the developers section is because I'm sure they've run into these issues.
I am currently running the new white widow "Phoenix". I am OC'ing at 710.
ISSUES:
Screen wont wake. I have to pull the battery and reboot.
If I tap the phone on a table on the top left corner of the device (lightly) it shuts off.
Sometimes I go to wake the screen and it reboots. Somehow having turned off.
I hit the home button and all I see is the status bar and a blank rest of screen.
I've tried froyo roms as well as a couple 2.1s and all of these have occurred on each rom. Help? Thanks in advance.

based upon that statement, personally, i think your phone (hardware) is jacked. i've used just about EVERY ROM in existence... never had any of the issues you described.
i've even dropped my phone on concrete, tables, etc... no shut-offs, etc.
probably not what you want to hear, but i'd probably flash a fairly stock ROM, see if still happens. if so, probably time to get a refurb/warranty replacement!

WHY WOULDN'T YOU POST THIS IN ITS OWN THREAD? WW has its own thread ask the developer of the rom, this is getting out of hand. it is a specific issue with a specific rom please help keep the forum clean.
sorry for snapping i know your new but next time please, this should be kept to its own thread.

Sorry dude (I think your a dude, anyway) but read the whole post from the top he said he tried it on many roms and it happen in all of them so its not rom specific
if this is happening on multiple roms, and with the issue you described with the phone acting up if it gets tapped, my advice would be to 1 try a stock rom and see if it still happens and 2 if it does call vzw or the insurance company and get another phone. because to me also it sounds as if its a hardware problem, not a software (rom) problem
what really sucks is that I just got a replacement because the trackball broke :/. I'm think it might be the extended battery I have shaking loose a little. That would do it I suppose. Thanks for the replies. And I apologize to the user who wants the forum clean. Not only did I try it on multiple roms but I knew I'd get more replies if I posted it here.

Also I've heard of others having the screen wake bug. Where it doesn't turn on the lockscreen at all. Is there something I could flash to fix it?

I just put in the original battery and and back. So far no random shutting off or shutting off when it taps something hard. Will update.

Auto backlight and Android on HD2

I am using a TMOUS HD2 with Hyperdroid v1.5 and everything works except the auto backlight. Anyone else having the same issue? Anyone who uses this feature as well because
I'm trying to get mines working. Please explain what app or settings that you have your phone on so I can duplicate it on mines. I appreciate everyone's support in advance.

Thanks so much for your quick response!
I thought I was the only one trying to figure this out.
Which radio are you using btw? If you own the TMOUS HD2.
I was using 2.12.50.02, now testing 2.14.50.04
light sensor/auto backlight isnt radio related
it "works" on latest evo git builds, however it likes to get stuck at 0 sometimes, so if you have auto backlight on, this means your screen will be off and you will have to pull battery
so dont use it yet

I think you misunderstanding, he thought that we live in the same area (Bay Area), using the same phone (TmoUS), that's why he asked about radio.

Is there any way to use the end key to lock the screen during a call? I'm using the straight FRG33 build, and I can't seem to find anything in the settings menu.
I feel like this is a stupid question, but I can't find anything ANYWHERE, and without the proximity sensor (or whatever it is) I keep hanging up or dialing during calls...

Honestly, I don't know of any other way besides using a different version of android. The Hyperdroidv1.5 is the one I'm using and although it isn't as great as the standard one on the HD2 built in WM, it's the best I've ran across. Hope it helps
As far as proximity you maybe using a older kernal. Mine works I dont ever hang up on anyone.
Shubcraft 1.5 with his stock kernal. I wont mention winmo rom cause I dont really think it matters. My radio is 2.11

Tips for sleep mode doesnt want to go off.

Push the button hang up (and stay push some second on it) after repush it again and tapping screen, almost work everytime in WinMo and Android ! if didn't work do it again. i've escaped so much time "from this bug.
tks m8
great finding

its the light sensor which goes irresponsive, the devs should realy do something about it, on my phone all the builds based on CM are realy bad especially when it does not comes out of its stuck up after ending a call I realy get anoyed, sense builds are bit better and MDJ kernels are better too, hope the devs will soon take all of us out of this bug,

[Q] [POLL] Screen-Off-Issue after call

Hi,
many people still claim there isn't such a problem but there IS:
After ending a call the screen stays off and can't be turned on again. Hardwarekeys don' t do anything.
Only option: Hold the phone in bright light or take battery out -.-
I tried the most popular roms here (NAND&SD)
In WinMo everything works fine.
So here i want to show that not only i but many others suffer by this issue.
Hopefully some real CHEFS/Devs realize this.
Making tons of senseless customisations and graphics tweaks isn't enough to be a real Dev...

this really helps! But now the screen stys on all the time, must be careful not to end the call by touching the screen XD... But it's better than having a blocked phone.
But still the issue itself isn't solved ...
You could try http://www.xda-developers.com/android/proximity-sensor-re-calibrator-for-desire-hd/ this?
yes tried this already before, thanks, but didn't work.
I know this problem sounds weird to those who don't have this issue but it's real (i'm not crazy XD) The hardware is also working correctly as on WinMo everythiong's fine
I'm been having this problem since my first rom. I actually thought it was just my phone. It drives me crazy, as I found that plugging it in gets the screen to return. Very annoying!

HTC HD2 question

i installed the android OS ROM and its great, couldnt be happier coming from windows 6.5, but when i get notifications my screen doesnt light up, i get the sound but shouldnt the screen come on????? ive looked thru every setting i can find and found nothing thats relates to it? 2.3.7 typhoon is my android version if thats matters, this is pretty annoying
wouldn't have thought it was meant to come on, , it'd soon drain your battery if your screen came on in your pocket every time you got a txt, and then your legs/hands against the screen keep touching the slider, so the screen stays on for ages,,, Its bad enough that the screen comes on from any hardware key.
Ive never seen a setting that mentions it either.

i suppose its a valid question. i used an HTC TYTN2 for about 2+ years with WM6.x and that platform would turn the screen on upon receiving a text.
i do see your point though, because since i've been using the HD2 (1.5+ years), i prefer that the screen remains off. all android builds i've used are to my liking, i.e. the screen remains off upon receiving a text. i also VAGUELY remember that the HD2 with stock WM6.5 could be configured to behave either way via some setting/tweak.
so it is imaginable and probably possible (on some platforms like good ol' WM6.5) but dunno if one can tweak android that way...would love to know if it can be toggled either way in android just to have "the option"
thats cos winmo is a proper OS, not a toy like "ANDROiOS7"
ahh winmo 6.5, i mourne you still >(
You should install handcent sms from the market. It will do this job very well.

There is probably an app for it.
Would just like to say that your title is a bit pointless, This is the HD2 section so obviously this is going to be a HD2 related topic/question. You should title your topics in a way that it describes your topic briefly, ie descriptive titles. You will likely get a better/more response from people.
