Screen On While Charging - Vibrant General

I was unable to find any setting to allow the screen to remain on while the phone is charging.
It would be nice to have for the Home and Car apps

It's under "development" where you turn on and off usb debugging.
Sent from my SGH-T959 using XDA App

on a side note, as slow as the phone charges, it will barely keep up with screen on running a live wallpaper.... i was watching voltages and temps this morning...
CM needs to up charge voltage like he did on the g1

Now that it's updated to Froyo, how do you keep the screen on while charging? Especially hate it wen on G-maps and it keeps shutting off.
I think there are widgets but I thought you had to enable them first before running any other app.
Thanks guys for all the knowledge.

I am running into this also, I know that there was an option to keep the display on always while charging but that option is gone the way of the dodo...
Currently running
2.2
Kernel 2.6.32.9
Build is FROYO.UVKB5
If you can list a widget or even a change to the build.prod that could be changed or added that would be great.
Any change of getting a build.prod from an eclair build maybe there is a difference that could be found, maybe this functionality could be added back in or made accessible.

try screebl from the market.

mine is under development

On my phone, it's under development also.

This option is not available on some roms. I had it in eclair.ji6. I'm running stock froyo.uvka6, not there anymore.
I now use Widgetsoid ($1.46) which has a widget to toggle screen always on.

I searched the market and there appears to be a utility just for keeping the screen always on. I haven't tried it, just posting it in case you want to try it.

Keeping the screen awake while plugged in.

I have searched the forum for an answer and can not find it anywhere so please bare with me if it has been answered previously, it's not easily found.
I have a rooted MyTouch running Cyanogen 4.0.4. I could have sworn in his previous releases, there was an option in the Dev Tools to keep the screen awake while it was plugged in to either USB or charging. Was I imagining this? If not, can someone please tell me where to do this because for the life of me, I can not find it again!
Thanks in advance!
Download Locale from the Android market. It's free and you'll be blown away by the features and ease of use. And it does exactly what you're asking. I don't know if this feature was in previous versions of Cyan's mods but I don't know who wouldn't love Locale!
*Personal tip for ya too, if you d/l locale and use it's other features, use the wifi positioning, not the GPS. The GPS positioning kills my phones battery because it checks your position every 10 minutes with GPS. Wifi is alot less power heavy on the battery. Go get the app and use it, then read my tip again...it'll make alot more sense!*
~*Apollo*~
*Locale, so you know, is location based profiles for sound, brightness, connections like wifi/bluetooth, vibrate, and ringer profiles, and also has power profiles for charging, or when the battery is below 20%, etc.*
yes there is an option. i am using it. it isnt in dev tools. it is in development option in your settings. the same place where you go to turn on usb debugging.
Sorry Slightly off topic but I was wondering if anyone knows of an app to turn the Screen off during a phone call?? I thought The app was "Spare parts" but it wasn't
Any ideas?
Thanks NguyenHuu! I knew I had seen it before and it was driving me nuts not being able to find it! Thanks again!!

Yeah ive been using the Advanced Task Killer for a while now already.
I have read that usage of ATK is not required at all because of Androids near perfect RAM Management. And you also could come into trouble because android looses a small amount of ram capacity every time you use ATK untill the next reboot.
other than that you could try Juice Plotter and Juice Defender
find a app can auto turn on/off fly mode.
I ve tried Juicy defender, it seems not fit wildfire very well, some function not working. like auto fly mode, and auto turn off wifi when over 50M.
(btw,it will change your apn setting, cause me can not connect after uninstall it.)
after 1 month, I found navigation app take me 80% of battery.like google map/navi.

Not sure if these steps actually improve the efficency of the battery OR wheter the S/W behind the battery guage becomes more accurate as it goes through a process that alows it to better estimate the SOC of the battery.

Yup, even I have read a lot that Android manages the apps in a beautiful way. When I first used Android, the first question that came to my mind was how to exit apps as none of the apps had an exit button. Coming from nokia, sony erricson etc this was an obvious question to ask. Then after some research I found that Android just freezes the apps when we go back. The app is not actually running in the back end.
But anyway, yesterday my battery again went to 8% and on checking the used status, it showed that the android system used 92% of the battery lol.
One more thing I would like to suggest is that there is a Power control widget built in the wildfire. Its pretty useful to decrease the brightness, turn off gps, wifi etc from the home screen itself.

I installed this widget and it said that GPS was on even though it wasn't appearing in the tool bar along the top. I had run several apps that use GPS, but had assumed if the GPS icon was gone, GPS was off.
Is that wrong?
(good news if it is, as I was struggling to keep enough power to in my phone to get through the day without charging)

Avoid task killers like the plague. They cause more problems than they solve. Trust the android os to manage ram.
Just discovered the most powerful app I have ever seen called "Tasker". It its only £4, but will make your android so much more diverse. You can, for example, have it go into airplane mode between certain times (i have between midnight and 6am) but periodically check for sms or voice mail every hour. It saves stacks of battery.
I have it turning wifi on only when it knows I'm at home or at work.
I have it turning off wifi, dropping screen brightness down, and playing a louder notification when battery gets to 15%.
It silences my phone when I get within 100m of the two cinemas I use.
It is not the most easy app to use, be patient with it. Look up some of the "recipes" on the internet to get a good tutorial on how to work it. £4 is a steal for something so potentially vast. Its limited only by your imagination.
Oh and having run Tasker for 24 hours, (how long my battery normally lasts) only contributes to a 2% drain, and its adding roughly 6 to 8 hours extra! It would cost you ten times that for an extended battery!
I use an free app called timeriffic to auto disable WiFi

Try program JuiceDefender....you can download free from Android market.
my battery life is really awful too,i noticed it a couple days ago, that it drains to fast,so i started looking into it,and i found out, that my device won't go too sleep. so in settings/about phone/battery the awake time and up time are the same. i had similar problems on my hero, but there it was the messaging apps fault.
here, i kill everything with advanced task killer,it still can't go too sleep, android battery use shows, that android system is using most of the battery.
anybody else with similar problem?solutions? i have stock 1.25 rom rooted with unrevoked.
What? You mean your screen is permanently on? .....
Ive head bad things about using task killers too, I dont use on anymore.
Some things i have done that have helped my battery like quit alot actually is turn off Wi-Fi, Turm off GPS, Turned off haptic feedback(vibration when pressing buttons), Screen brightness to automatic & screen timeout too 15 seconds.
I can now have a really good fiddle with the phone and it can last more than a day without needing a charge.
As I understand when screen goes auto shut off, all apps are idle, even WiFi or gps is on. I tried with music on continuously for 2 hrs in flight mode, I still have about 80% power. With gps on for 1 hr continuous, I still have about 80%. With normal use my power can last the whole day.

no,the screen turns off,but something still runs in the background what eats the battery, and I can't find out what it is. I tried multiple task managers, and they show that everything is closed.i have it in flight mode, with everything turned off, still something runs, what shouldn't.
Did you solve this? It's happening on my phone now, and it's very frustrating.
(just installed ATK - very scary the apps I never use are running) and killed everything except ATK. Touch the power switch to turn off the screen. 15 minutes later, up time and awake time are still the same.

2 updates from me, to help anyone else with similar problems:
1) I uninstalled any recently installed or updated apps** and widgets now I have a 1:6 ratio of awake time. So, fixed?
2) In the meantime I logged a call to HTC via their website. Answer:
With regards to your problem, if the battery is going down significantly and you have turned of applications when your not using them and used task killer. It might be better to call us up so we cann look into it further and we might have to book the phone in for repair especially if you have noticed it not charging properly or overheating at any time.

Display Issue - Takes too long to turn on

Hey guys,
I've been noticing a problem with my Atrix display for a few weeks now. When I wake up the phone the display takes about 4-6 seconds to turn on. Sometimes it takes even longer if the phone has been sitting for a while. While nothing is displayed I can still use the lock screen. I'm able to unlock the phone and use other functions like normal. Currently use widgetlocker but have the same issue with stock lock screen. Anyone else have this issue?
Running 1.8.3 Stock - Rooted with GladRoot.
Any help would be much appreciated! Let me know if you need more information.
I think there are other topics about this.

If you have the fingerprint scanner running, it can cause some lag.
Also, are you running SetCPU? I have it set to underclock the phone to around 450 MHz when the screen is off, and sometimes that can cause a bit of lag.

I'm also seeing this
I never had to wait more than 1-2 secs for my screen to wake up. Even after rooting, updating 1.2.6-1.5.7, adding widgetlocker and the message widget from purewidgets. I think I started seeing this at some point a few weeks before updating to 1.8.3, but I can't be totally sure. I think I just assumed that a reboot would take care of it, or it was an update to widgetlocker that just needed another update. However, I see this whether widgetlocker is active or not...
as far as the screen not going to sleep, you probably have a screen-wake dev setting (it defaulted to 'on' on this phone). Go to settings -> applications -> development -> stay awake.

Yes I do have a SanDisk 16 GB Class 2 microSDHC Card. I've gone ahead and unmounted the card and will let you know of the results. I do use my sd card for music and photos so not sure if this is a viable solution but hopefully it'll narrow down my problem.

So I've tried using the phone for 24+ hours with the SD card unmounted and the issue is back. At first it seemed to help but after a while it was back to it's usual self. It does the same thing after a restart... Will be fine for a while then the lag is back.
Any other ideas?
Mine just did that a fee times today for the first time... I just lock the phone, problem solved.
Try advanced task killer to end all Apps to see if one is the offending one.
Edit: misread last post, my problem is the display won't turn off. Thinking it has to do with seekdroid.

[Android 2.2+][11.11.2011][v1.3] CF.lumen (for Chainfire 3D)

THIS APP AND THREAD HAVE BEEN REPLACED BY THIS ONE HERE: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2711912
CF.lumen changes the colors of your Android device's display based on the position of the sun. With the default settings, your display will get a warmer tint (lower color temperature) when the sun is down, to look more like indoor lighting and less like the sun, which causes less strain on your eyes and doesn't keep you awake as much.
This is an addon for Chainfire3D, you need to have both Chainfire3D and Chainfire3D Pro installed to be able to use CF.lumen
With the default settings, blue tints will be reduced in brightness when the sun goes down. This reduces how much looking at the screen keeps your brain awake later at night. If you have sleeping problems, you should definitely be using this. Do yourself a favor and install similar software ("f.lux") on your PC as well - it fixed my sleeping cycle.
There is also a full-on sleep mode that runs on a pre-set schedule. By default it shows the entire screen in red, so as to not destroy your night vision when you look at it.
When you want the screen to look normal for a bit (for example for gaming or looking at pictures) simply tap the notification in the notification tray to disable CF.lumen until the next time you turn on the screen.
Additionally, it can also use the light sensor to automagically switch to sleep mode when it is fully dark. HOWEVER, you should be aware that most devices do not have a sensitive enough light sensor to detect the difference between house light and darkness, so this function may not work very well on your device.
Last but not least, a function is also provided to turn off the screen based on proximity sensor activity.

Works pretty well, except for that when it's enabled, it seems to somehow turn off the fade screen transition in CM7 when you hit the home key. The screen still correctly shrinks, but once it shrinks it just waits for a split second, then disappears. Normally it shrinks and fades at the same time. This isn't a big deal really but I figured I'd post it here in case I'm not the only one.

Still thinking about how to best do that. In the newer Android versions (Gingerbread and up) you actually HAVE to have that icon to make sure Android doesn't constantly kill the background service.
Alternatives are for example to restart the service on a timer, I think I'll build that in at some point.
CF.lumen updated to v1.2
Changelog:
- "Sleep in the dark" now checks for proximity as well as light levels
- "Bright light" mode added, switches to Day mode in bright light even when in Sundown or Night mode
- "Notification Mode" settings added. Can remove notification. WARNING: Doing so may lead to CF.lumen being shut down by Android at random times.
Can you add the option for the bright light mode to switch to night sundown mode instead of day mode? I'm also seeing 7-8% CPU usage with the proximity sensor enabled. I like the idea of this feature for battery savings (example, putting the phone in my pocket and having the screen turn off immediately) so if there is any way to tweak the battery consumption it would be great! Would you be able to have the icon displayed change to reflect the mode it's in? For example a sun for daytime, moon for sunset mode, etc.?
One last thing, noticed that the Sleep filter setting does not get saved with version 1.1. It says Unknown even after you have selected a filter.
v1.3
Minor bugfix release v1.3:
- Minor crash fixes
- Current color filter display no longer says "Unknown"
- CPU usage reduced
- Power usage reduced

ICS in Note
After upgrading to ICS via kies,
Battery seems to drain very fast.
Camera hangs up sometimes and other camera related apps like Instagram also but maybe the pic quality is little better.
It seems to crash when some other apps runs too.
Not sure if it was there before but I can pause music and video if I show my palm on the screen.
The screen rotates faster than in GB with a pause at the beginning though.
News fonts are good.
Window animations are good but still dont' know how to stop it since it might be draining battery fast.
Can use Chrome now and it's fast.
I cannot use Mass Storage Mode. I recieve a "Ui stopped to work" error.
I am facing,
1. High android OS usage. Sometime its higher than Brightness, and most of the time its highest usage of batt after brightness. (I read somewhere, it said its calculation errors, but I think its not, cause my battery no longer last that long.)
2. Camera will sometimes fail to operate. I really dunno what is wrong with that.
3. Phone just cant go into deep slp. Its being kept awake by some apps (Which I cant narrow it) Using BetterBatteryStats, I found out its I2_HSIC. (Whats this I2_HSIC ??)
I am using a 5400mAh mugen batt. previously on GB, my usage can last me 24hrs, now it can only last 16hrs or less. I installed lesser apps, and lesser widgets. Disable account sync and google backup. Settings more or less kept the same.
Overnight my batt can reduce by 21%, it never happened before. lol. ICS...

Overnight my batt can reduce by 21%, it never happened before. lol. ICS...

As far as #2 goes, go to your battery stats and see if "media" is listed. If so, force close it and try again. Seems to work for me. I'm not sure if it is just me or not because I have been playing with settings lately, but the media scanner tends to run wild it seems (also seems to lend to battery drain).
I am just disappointed that they left out some of the nice features of ics like the updated gallery and camera. Seems kind of lazy to me and no wonder things arent working well if they are mix and matching gingerbread and ics rather than going all in and starting development from there. I would definitely go back to using one of the non tw ics roms if it weren't for the sod issues I was having...

Indian stock Rom:
- Battery life seems to be strange as sometime drain is too high and sometime i feel it's better then it was on GB. yet to track the exact pattern but in either case no wireless, no gps, no Bluetooth and Brightness @ 10%.
- opening contacts taking few seconds but now search on exchange server is well integrated.
-i have enabled 'face unlock' and sometime it will not respond at all so keep doing lock/unlock till get restored.
.......and I am unable to find s-note application, i tried under system/app as well but as don't know apk name not sure. can someone help pls.
me too
I also got that green bands screen you describe. I held down the lock button til the phone rebooted. I think I was using the Dolphin Browser at the time.

I have a bug I have not seen mentioned.
Occasionally, usually about 1 time per day, My phone display will start to flash, with random green and red colors. The screen I'm on, will flash those colors then star to shake and slide.
It looks like a television station not tuned quite right on an analog antenna (if anybody remembers that!)
I can't reproduce it regularly, but It think it has happened when going from an Application, back to the home screen using the home button.
I am on ICS, Taiwan, stock, not rooted.
Anybyody else seen this?

1. Poor battery.
2. Sync errors: calendar sync freezes up every once in a while
3. Brightness slider in notification bar gone, tasker can not effect change of brightness anymore, only choice is to keep automatic brightness on, otherwise blinded out in sun.
4. Contacts and phone apps show up in 5s or more to load: need to switch to those ugly dialers, no choice at all
5. No widgets menu in app drawer as in nexus ICS
6. Launchers freezing: tried both nova and apex: many a times the screen went blank for a few seconds after hitting home (didn't crash though)
