Hello all
I have got a htc wildfire, but my phone has many lags when i go to all programs and scroll its lag and also i friendstream and widget, is my phone the only one that do that ?????
The phone is very nice but i hope someone can help me to get rid of the lag

Hello Knudsen,
The first i used it i had the same problem, but after 3 days the lags were almost gone. Before i had a touch hd and i've had more lags. I'm surprised how fast and stable the wildfire & android is.
I don't know why, at the moment i've around 12 apps installed.
There's just one thing which annoyes me, i miss the directional buttons from my hd keyboard.

Why's task killers bad? Shall you just leave the apps open?
Thanks
Sent from my HTC Wildfire using XDA App

Hello Fprick
Because of the ram-managment. If you kill unused task, they will need more time to start again (mail, musikplayer, internet, etc.). The worst case could be a systemcrash. If you google around, you'll find very detailed explanations. I used it also, but it made my wildfire slower.

I use ATK and have no problems at all NONE, just don't end everything just make sure your only ending games and other apps you don't want open all the time I use it mostly for gmail as when using Market it reseeds all the gmail crap and sync when I have sync its self disabled it does this on any app that needs a gmail login I guess its just one of them functions they felt would make the lifes easyer and it does but after that I want it gone when I am done with my task, I leave things like Clock and Messages always running tho as the Message app does tack a wee longer to run if it was ended lol.

Hi all
Does any one solve this problem...all of that happens with my phone and I perform factory reset and it,s lags again I dont know what to do,any one halp please?????

It sounds like the phone its self is faulty or the rom needs to be reinstalled, I have been using my Wildfire for sometime not and it works great no lag at all, the phone as problem with some games and thats cos its not got a dedicated greathic part from that its great phone day to day tasks are better then the desire as the sences app as been optermized where the desire version as not been.
I never seen any lag in this phone, when you donload a app just make sure it does not say its a hog but I am a app junky and download all the time still no problems.

i have a wildfire and the lag is horrible. htc sense kept crashing so i started using ADW, it doesn't crash as much but it's still really laggy at times, any way to fix it?
ps, i've been using task killer but after seeing these comments i've stopped...

you can use launcher pro or golauncher.
both verry stable and fast.
launcher pro is just a bit faster and no lags.

Do NOT use task killers! My wildfire was laggy and unstable, until I stopped using TaskPanel.

[Q] desire z lag

I have used my phone for 2 days now, and occasionally will experience severe lag. Has anyone else experienced this? It's happening right now as I type, I type and have to wait a couple seconds for the letters to show up...

Install os monitor and see if init is using up all the cpu. Its a known issue at least it is on the dhd. If that is what ist causing it.
If it is that then it has beeen solved http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=826507

This issue never happened to me. You could also open terminal and type: top
This command shows processes and cpu usage and it auto refreshes. Most busy processes are on top of the list.
I think pressing Q will exit it. Its built into the os.

I get lag. The worst problem is when I do this-
Go into an sms thread. Delete the entire thread. When the screen goes back to the sms list, the rotating 'wait' circle shows for about 5 seconds before refreshing the list. Happens every time. Even with 4 items in the sms view.

I havent had any lag so far... been using for a week now
HTCSense has crashed a few times for me and automatically restarted just fine, nothing lost due to this happening.
I am familiar with the typing lag because it happens on Xperia Mini Pro occasionally. Anyway, not happened on my Desire Z yet...
The only teeny-tiny lag I have noticed is when some of the widgets don't load fast, but that's due to them gathering the data from mobile/wifi. Doesn't slow down swiping left/right to other screen though.

Android is designed to allocate memory to tasks being used at hand, the other tasks are sitting idle and not using any memory at all. Task killers also drain your battery faster. Its google, they wouldnt make a OS that would have to use task managers to close things.

It's not the act of deleting where there is the lag on my phone. It is when the message list tries to re-draw...
Try simply rooting.. my phone got much faster simply by using Visionary+. Also flashing to the WWE rom cut long-boot times in half (or less). I think Bell's ROM just has issues.

Happens to me too!!! And I'm overclocking to 1 ghz already!
So I'm still lagging in menus and stuff, also have Usb debugging on as well
Edit: I'm also perm rooted s-off and overclocked and still lag during normal navigation of phone overall

The guys in the DesireHD had this same issue, and they found a fix by enabling USB debugging: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=826507
Failing that, you could always download Watchdog lite from the Market to see if it alerts a service using excessive CPU, that should point in the right direction.
I'm thinking of getting a Desire Z, so this is a little unnerving. Hope the above fixes it.
had the insane lag too, did a bunch of pm disables to remove background sync packages.
you think 5 sec is slow, i waited about 30 min to del 2k msgs
push comes to shove proabably would install the stock android messaging app.

Intermittent problem with DHD

Hey guys sometimes when leaving some apps ie. messages, or phonebook the white screen with htc will flash up and then a loading sign for a second or two its quite annoying does anyone else have this problem?

Same on htc z and sometimes on good ol' hero. The "homescreen" crashes id say.

I guess this is better than the entire device locking up, necessitating a battery pull... which I've so far not had to do in the month I've had the phone. Could argue it's good coding by htc. And hopefully future updates will minimise this issue further...?

yeah its just the sense launcher crashing used to happen rarely on my legend to, but its easy fixed you just change to another launcher
since a couple days, same happens to me...but i dont know why. its not with a special app when i close it, its just randomly when i go back to the homescreen, but i will definately change to netfront life screen, as soon it becomes more customizable...i like the idea
not had this at all, although i did have 2 complete restarts a week ago.
i have a off-topic question. i am playing with adw.launcher and launcher pro, but how can i use the htc widgets...especially the "setting" widgets maybe the clock widgets too...any ideas?

Liberated Aria FR007 speed?

Is anyone else having the issue of the FR007 being slow and laggy? When I scroll through all my apps, there is a huge lag. And the sliding of the home screens have some lag in it too. Is it just my aria or something that I did wrong while rooting/flashing? If there's a way to fix this, please tell. I really like FR007, but am thinking about switching back to R012. Thanks in advance.

No lags here. May some service or app working in background?
their is some noticeable lag, the stock rom from att is deff faster but isn't nearly as clean ;(
OP, I had the same problem, ended up going back to R012. I was sad.
I was using CM6.1 rc2 until my apps started closing (dolphin browser hd, Rom gripper, etc.) Then I switched to liberated fr007 and haven't had one issue. The only thing that ever gave me a lag was overclocking widget, live wallpaper, and using an alternative home screen (ADW. Launcher, Home++)
Sent from my HTC Liberty using XDA App
Yeah it lags for me. Especially if I use Pandora radio
Sent from my HTC Liberty using XDA App
Try this.
Go to market and get Overclocking Widget.
Put the widget anywhere on your homescreen.
Tap it, grant it SU permissions, you will probably have to tap it again for it to display.
Now on the 2nd slider that says Maximum set it all the way to the right.
Uninstall the widget, whichever method you prefer and the lag problem will probably go away.
* uninstalling the widget makes it where it won't automatically slow your phone down when it hasn't been in use for a while, which means you have to mess with the slider every time you unlock your phone.
** this may also have a negative impact on your battery, but if your like me and charge your phone every night it shouldn't be a problem.
Sent from my HTC Liberty using XDA App
You shouldn't be using an overclocking widget or setcpu with the stock fr rom- it will result in more lag and unpleasantness than you started with. The stock kernel simply doesn't support over or underclocking.
Sent from my HTC Liberty using XDA App
It doesn't support OVER clocking or UNDER clocking, but setting the processor works just fine--there is no issues, that's what saved my battery life actually & the phone runs great.
There is no need to set the processor with a third party app if you are using the stock kernel. Hell, even cm6.1 defaults to 600 making setCPU optional. I saw on the other thread that you think developers too often blame apps for malfunctions but I think you will find that devs and contributors are just as sick of newbies spreading misinformation and not listening to sound advice and attributing their own folly to wrongly defamed software. If I were anyone reading this thread I would encourage you to be wiser than I and let this, and other new troll threads die before they begin.

until we get a decent kernal that supports OC, you're just messing things.
I just end up running slower and stuttering in many apps.

[Q] Does Legend automatically close programs?

Hey guys. Does the HTC Legend automatically close programs after pressing the home button or the "backarrow"? My Legend seems to get slower when i've had a lot of programs open?
I've heard about some Androids which doesn't do it.
Android does it. So all Android devices will kill tasks eventually. Pressing the back button until you're back at the homescreen will ensure that the app is closed properly. If you press the home button it will "minimize" the app, and it will run in the background. If you have apps in the background then Android will eventually kill them when it needs the memory. Don't use a task killer.

Why not? I use it on occasion, I's good to have a controll over your phone, plus I'm not sure how android handles turning those apps off when screen is turned off...So by killing before turning screen-off should preserve battery...no?

Well, its a much-debated issue. But in my personal experience, if I dont use task-killers, my legend becomes too sluggish. I would recommend all Legend users to use one.
In my personal opinion, Relying on Andoid's own task management might be ok for high end devices with more RAM. but not for devices with low memory like legend.
Same here but after 2-3 days even task killers don't work, only rebooting works

slow downs

hey so my gf has a desire z mostly because I convinced her android is the way to go, and she loves it, but recently she has been frustrated because every once in a while, usually when she uses the default messaging app or widget, it will slow way down and/or freeze, and take a few minutes to sort itself out, I suggested try handcent cause it may clean that up, but since then it has continued to happen, any suggestions? thanks!

Reboot with pulling the battery out? Many apps on it?
If you're unsure whats causing the slowdown, I'd download Watchdog Lite and see what apps are taking up the most CPU/RAM and see if removing or fixing issues with these apps will change anything.
I haven't done anything extra for her to it, no rooting, all she has done is the ovta 2.2.1 update and download apps, just simple ones like backgrounds, schedules/notes, and games, and okay thanks I'll try downloading that app to see

When having that version of Android I had some slow downs when using animated wallpapers, they clogged the memory also until it froze. Using normal, steady backgrounds took care of it.
I also have advanced task manager installed (free from market), it has a widget, clicking on it frees memory and speeds up the phone.

I like the wallpaper idea but I have heard from many places that task killers use more battery cause most apps will just start up again, but if it stops the freezing maybe it's a necessary trade off

Yeah, Froyo is supposed to be much better with ram management so task managers are not required. Its very likely to be a misbehaving app in the background.

Don't use task managers. They're unnecessary and like you said can hurt more than they help more often than not.
Check out an app like Watchdog, that doesn't kill anything it'll just show you if something is eating too much CPU, so you can remove or change it. Also, lots of messages or long long threads can slow it down too.
so I got her to use watch dog and she just texted me saying that it popped up and messaging was over the cs threshold, and I do think she has a ton of messages, I'll tell her that deleting them could fix it, thanks!

You can customize what the threshold is. I think its like 20% or 30% by default. Kinda surprising that very rarely happens. If she deletes all messages and it still happens I'm really not sure.

While the Sense launcher is a bit laggy and resource hungry, it sounds like the OP has something going on far beyond just Sense. Sense itself does not cause the Messaging app to lockup for minutes, and it seems to be a problem that has developed over time.
My personal preference is "System Monitor". It doesn't kill anything and does everything watchdog and a little more. It costs tho

You were previously talking about flashing CM7. If the HTC SMS app is indeed the problem, you don't need to flash a new ROM to get away from it. Yes, the HTC SMS app is not great, but neither is the stock AOSP one. I've been using the stock Sense ROM for the most part since December, with Chomp SMS and see absolutely no slow down. Plus, I've tried CM7 and other ROMs, and there is no significant affect on battery life. If the OP's GF wants to stay on Sense, its really overkill to recommend ROM flashing. Its pretty apparent from the most recent posts deleting some messages will likely fix the problem.

5000 is a bit much. If its just a case of not being bothered to delete old messages (I have the same problem, but delete in the hundreds still) I could recommend the "Delete old messages" function which will automatically keep the thread down to size.
