Open attached applications from email? - HTC Aria General

My phone is rooted and I've set "install_non_market_apps" to 1 in my settings.db, however I still can't open applications if they're email attachments. I get the following error:
"Your phone is not authorized to open attached android applications. Please contact your service provider."
I'm assuming there must be another DB setting for this somewhere. Has anybody found this?
I tried searching the forums but didn't find anything...
Thanks in advance!

Moving to General. Not development related. In the future, only topics directly related to Android development for the HTC Aria should be posted in the development forum.
Thank you for your understanding.

Thanks.
Has anybody else run into this issue and/or found a solution?

Have you tried going to your email through the actual web browser and not the Gmail app? If its a. Apk file you should be able to save it from the browser and install it via an app installer.

Click to collapse
Please follow my articles: this is a very common problem under WM5 I've often elaborated on (e.g. at http://www.pocketpcmag.com/blogs/in..._the_flaky_file_associat&more=1&c=1&tb=1&pb=1 ) . It's in no way a security error: the system just doesn't find the target app.
You only need to restore the file extension assignments with for example http://www.winmobiletech.com/sekalaiset/RevertOperaAssignments.reg
Super, that looks like the exact problem. I have been looking for a registry editor that I can download as a direct cab file, I still have not found one; have you any links?
Thanks very much so far

Gmail & MIDlet Issue

Hey all,
I searched the Titan forum but wasn't able to find any information that helped, so hopefully one of you can.
As a dedicated Gmail user (via Google Apps), I have been trying to get Google's java app to work on my new 6800. Per the suggestions of a few sites on the net, I:
(1) Downloaded the Intent MIDlet Manager .cab and installed it on my phone - no problems so far.
(2) Went to http://www.gmail.com/apps, clicked the "Get it faster!" link, and downloaded the gmail.jad.
(3) Opened gmail.jad - MIDlet goes through some procedure where it says, "Downloading MIDlet..." Then it thinks for a little bit and finally shuts down MIDlet on its own.
(4) Reopen MIDlet to see if anything happened - nothing shows in the "Installed" window.
What am I doing wrong and how do I fix it?
Thanks for the help!
Any help would be greatly appreciated
Try this one..

Try Installing Esmertec JAVA Manager.cab First
and then try gmail/app

Problem accesing Hyperlinks

Hi Guys.
I have a weird problem and i need somebody to please help me asap.
The problem is when I am accessing net. Here are a few cases when i click a hyperlink and see this error
Case1: When I am in RSS info feed, after the news i see "read more online" when I click this i get an error:
" There is no application associated with "XXXX". Run the application first , then open this file from within the application
Case 2: Running windows live Search from the home page. When i search something. it gives me the same error again:
" There is no application associated with "XXXX". Run the application first , then open this file from within the application
So the problem is accessing hyperlinks from any application. When i am surfing net using internet explorer, there is no issue.
But when i try a hyperlink through some other application live live search or Info feed, it gives me this error.
Please help me guys
Thanks in advance

any professionel please help urgent

when i switch on my htc hd i receive this message ( the file "-hide" cannot be opened either it s not signed with a trusted certificate or one of its components .....etc ) can you help me with this pleaseeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
I'm no expert BUT.
I would check to see if one of the files in windows/startup folder is trying to open it. I think it might be Opera related.
Try pressing on each file in turn until menu comes up then click properties then shortcut tab.
When you find which it is you can edit the shortcut to point to where you want or reinstall the software that has become corrupted in some way.
Hope this helps.
