In Call Noise Problems - Soo Frustrated!!!!! - XPERIA X10 General

Hi guys.
Right. I've got a really weird and very frustrating problem.
I had a white Xperia X10.. and was experiencing some problems with it. The person on the other end of the phone was complaining about a random banging/knocking sound that was happening every few seconds or minutes.. and also that they could hear themselves talk intermittantly.
I bared with this for a few weeks till I got fed up and sent it to Sony. They sent it back saying 'it passed all the tests', but the problem was still there!
So, I got rid of it, and bought a new black one.. and guess what.. same problem!.
Its just too coincidental that the same thing happened with 2 different phones. Also, there is only 1 person that complains about this (we're both on O2, and she's using the HTC Desire).
I first thought that it was her phone, or it was my simcard.. but it cant be, because I used my simcard in another phone for a week and there were no problems, and she's not had this problem with anyone else.
Its soo frustrating I just dont know what to do now!!
Has anyone else experienced this?

I have the same problem... i heard maybe fixed in the update but I dunno its really frustrating.. at first i thought it was other cell phone till other people told me about.. had the phone for 3 months so i doubt it covered under warrenty..

Well.. the previous X10 I had had the old firmware (016), and the new one I have right now has the latest build!(023).. so it cant be that...

Please help

I have this problem from the first day I bought the phone

'They all do that , guv'

Issue with mine as well...... I dont know why SE is not doing anything......

Definitely also have that problem.

Same here + incoming callers can hear echo
If SE dont fix it soon i gonna sell it and buy Galaxy S or wait for the new "Desire HD"
My opinion, they have used bad quality speakers sins SE have not fixed it and we (i) can hear crackling sounds sometimes.
Axuly the same problem is with the vibrator.. to weak, bad quality on the motor/to small?

Sell it, get desire, galaxy, etc.
Or use MW600 which comes cheaper and it has a FM radio too.

Both my wife and I purchased x10's and other than the call volume\noise issues we're happy with them.
It is a big problem though and I wish they'd address it.

Screen Alignment Problem - Help

Ok, here's the story.
Last year, I had a friend of mine to buy for me an Imate Jasjar, it worked fine for a few weeks till that screen alignment problem kicked in. It was from dubai so I had her return it to the seller, they "repaired" it. Worked fine for 2 days then again, the screen alignment problem kicked in. I asked it to be replaced and they said they wouldn't.
Being desperate, I tried the card solution and even the screw fix, none worked... if it did, the fix would last for a hour or so. At the end of the rope I sold the unit.
Now, i got myself an HTC Tytn. Worked for a weeks and then I got the same problem. Help please, anyone?
I guess try the card thing again... ?
Go to the wiki and theres a table with serial numbers and those devices that have experienced the SA issue. see if yours is one of them, if so try to send it in for a replacement.
alingment
hi just wondering as i am newbie what do you meant by refering to wiki. as i got the same problem with my O2 Trion.
Old problem here
This is old and very polemic subject.
Some people said it´s only a hardware problem, others say software.
My case, I used to upgrade my Tytn to the last ROM available , after 2-3 weeks SA comes again...
I tiered of HTC support at all. Let´s wait for the iPhone...

Joke right?!
Even if HTC employed people to come round my house to perform daily acts of physical abuse and force me into un-natural acts with farm animals, I still wouldn't swop for an iphone. In fact the more I think about it those un-natural acts become rather appealing when I think about the "all mouth and no trousers" iphone.

occaisonal Crakle in Ear Piece

Does anyone have a "crakle" sound in the earpiece - usually happens when someone speaks loud and the word starts with a p, b etc.
I've turned the volume down as it is quite loud.
hi,

thanks
Yes. I too have this problem.
when the volume is louder, the speaker creaks.
I have the same problem with my iPhone 3gs but with much higher volume.
Yes the ear volume is too loud.. They must make a fix for this
Is this think going to be fixed or should I drop my device ?
the HD I bought a year ago didn't have any of the HD2 issues
I have this problem, haptic touch vibration makes a strange rattling sound as well. I contacted VF and they said when they have more in stock they will send o new one to me......
anyone solved this?

No fix as yet. No guarantees there will ever be! There is a thread concerned with this already.
So HTC was working on the SD card fix which was not even mentioned in the threads ( I did not notice someone really screaming because of it. maybe someone did but not as much as 8000 users ) which is a minor issue but they seem to ignore the crackling issue!!?? I did not receive any update since more than a month. Can someone please for god's sake contact them ? I said PLEASE because it's a major flaw...
My HD2 also suffers from the occasional crackle and sound distortion . Sound quality of my old N95 was far superior. Hope that its just a firmware issue and that an update will be released shortly. Generally happy with the phone overall though .
anyone get a hiss pulsating every now and then? its not everytime i take/make a call but just sometimes. its annoying! lol.

Yep, I heard it yesterday for the first time, not sure it was their all the time or that i had just noticed it.......all i know is that it drove me mad to the point that i had to hang up.
My first handset had the earpiece crackling, so I had it exchanged today. Sadly the new one also has this problem. I've called T-Mobile to see if I can get another exchange, but they'll only do one exchange and I've used that one up
I now have until next Tuesday (so Thurs this week thanks to Xmas bank hols) to decide whether to return or keep the phone.....Aaarrrrggghh!!!
I now understand why Vodafone dropped the HD2 from their line up. It's a great gadget for people like us, but just not finished enough to sell as a top of the range phone to the general public.

They all do it, it isn't that your particular handset is faulty. I've had two as well.
Ah, okay then. I had thought that I was just a bit unlucky. Hopefully there'll be a volume-fix out soon then.
I have same problem, hopping for a fix soon.

Bit of advice from users of the Arc

Hello all,
I just got the xperia Arc from o2 here in the UK. Actually got it last week - love it to death - but i did notice that the earpiece speaker...you know, where you put your ear when you have a call, it sorta rattled. Not all the time, but during conversations it would rattle randomly during the persons speech. I guess certain frequencies made it rattle is the correct term for it.
I also noticed this on the o2 top up line (its an automated service thing if you not sure what that is) and that had the same so it cant be down to the people talking into their microphone to close or something.
It wasn't unbearable, but it was there.
Tested same calls with my old HD2, and no rattle.
So I sent it back as faulty and am awaiting my new arc handset.
My question, is....this isn't an arc issue is it? I mean...its not normal right? all you other Arc users out here....dont have that prob. Right?
Please tell me I did the right thing and that i havent parted with my beloved Arc for no reason
I seriously do miss it...how can you become so attached to a damn phone huh?
Thanks for your time and any advice in advance,
Chris.
Not happened to me in a months use had a few echos but think that was just a bad line
Sent via noahs ark
I've not had a problem with that.

[Q] Muffled Outgoing Voice Quality?

I was just wondering for those that have the Bell version of the Atrix, how many of you guys are experiencing muffled outgoing voice quality?
I am so far on my second one and it is still muffled regardless of what noise suppression option I use.
I am thinking of exchanging for a third one but I'm not sure if I will just get another dud or not.
For those that do not have this issue, what is the manufacturing date on your Atrix? I think its that date on the side of the box. Both phones I have gotten had the date 3/1/2011.
Are there any possible remedies to this problem?
I am suffering from muffled call quality, but I'm on AT&T. Ive never had this problem on my other phones in the same exact area. I would like to know whether or not it effects all phones, and if I should exchange it.
Casing
My buddy bought an atrix the other day and he said he could hear me clearly out of my atrix but his was horribly muffled, but then I asked him what case was using, I had him remove the poorly designed case I think it was the bodyglove model,so if anyone is using a poorly designed case and they have this issue consider this variable. As soon as he took off the case his voice was perfectly clear and before it was muffled and unclear
I can only speak on behalf of my AT&T Attic experience, but im sure it is not too different in the voice quality issue.
This 'muffled' voice issue is a well documented and widespread issue. You may want to check out the motorola forums, where there exists a thread with hundreds of replies about this issue.
I experienced this poor call quality with 2 Atrix phones. Only on my second exchange (3rd phone), did I get a unit that did not suffer from the call quality issue. As a side note, turning off noise suppression did nothing to aleviate my call quality problem (as it might be suggested by some).
This issue has also been discussed in length here on XDA.
My advice, keep exchanging units until you find one that does not have the muffled call quality. (Talk about QC on Motorola's part!)
Good luck!
I guess I'll try exchanging for a third one and hopefully third is the charm.
I've had this problem intermittently since February 22nd. I kept it, thinking a software update would help. The last update did not help. Here's what AT&T did for me. Nothing. Because it was intermittent, I couldn't reproduce it on demand so they wouldn't warranty it. They wanted a hard reset, I had already done that and it didn't help so I refused to do it again. I have two of these and made it pretty clear the other one didn't suffer the issue. You gotta love these "scripted" calls where these people aren't allowed to use their brains and just provide some good old fashioned customer service.
So I had to send it back directly to Motorola for repair. That means no phone in the mean time.
AT&T should decide if they will warranty products or not. Pretty half assed experience. But I suppose I'll do better by sending it directly back to Motorola.

I had the same problem done many test on with different cases and then done some researching after doing all that i found a setting on the phone. and it fixed it. Settings/ Call settings/ Noise suppression/ then choose off. i have done several tests with the 3 different settings and that seemed to fix it now everyone i talk too says they hear me clear again.
I have had this issue since I got the "phone". I say "phone" because it's basically unusable as a phone, unless you use speakerphone and hope they can make out what you're saying, good luck trying to give a chinese order. Took me 15minutes last night because my bluetooth headset was in the truck. I went through 3 different people trying to give my order to before one guy could FINALLY understand me after practically having to scream my credit card number at him 16 times. Once you pair a headset and use it however, it's fine.
There are hundreds of people complaining about this and Motorola just keeps telling people they fixed it in the latest update (two updates ago).
Do some google searches for "atrix call quality" and the like, you'll actually be surprised at how many people have returned phones and went with something else entirely. Getting a new phone does nothing to solve this issue for most people. Sadly, the majority of consumers don't realize their phones are affected and just chock it up to just phones generally being bad, not realizing how good it *SHOULD* sound.
EDIT: Forgot to mention I have an AT&T Atrix and bought it directly from them.

Not all Atrix units are affected by this problem. I returned my phone twice and only on the third phone, did I not have any more call quality issues with the "muffled" sounding voice calls.
BTW, as a side note, the first two phones were from the same batch of phones(same store, etc..) The third, and finally usable one, was from a different batch.
My guess is that entire manufacturing batches came out with this problem.

So, then this is looking more like them denying a quality control issue :/ great. Is it hardware causing this issue? Or just oversensitive noise-cancellation software? I don't think Motorola even knows.. haha

I would venture to say that it's either hardware or a deeply rooted software issue. If it was just a SIMPLE software problem, then flashing different SBFs would technically get rid of the problem, maybe? Have you checked out the thread on the Motorola forums? It's insane.
Anyways, yeah. It's a major QC problem. I had other problems: 1. My LED flash would turn on, stay on for about 10 secs and then one of them would start flashing and eventually turn off. 2. Another problem with the phone's LCD behaving really erratically at different times of the day. 3. The muffled voice. All these are hardware problems that should not have made it out of the factory.

Did you get your warranty replacement phone back yet? Did it fix the problem? I just sent mine in today to get warranty replacement, this better fix the voice problem...do not want to have to send another one back on my dime!!!

Just got it in the mail. I'll report back in a few days. They did actually claim to have replaced two parts and sent back the same unit.
On the plus side, once they got it, it only took them 3 days to fix it and they fedexed it back overnight.
-James
One day after the repair. About 10 phone calls, none were garbled or suffered low volume on the receivers end. So far.
I think I'm glad I sent it back to Motorola for an actual physical repair instead of risking getting a refurb from AT&T that might possibly suffer the same issue.
-James
Hmm that's interesting. I have given up on getting new replacements after the 3rd showed the same problem. I may consider going the repair route.
yes, but on AT&T
Is anyone else still having this issue? I haven't made enough phone calls to realize the problem until now. I'm running on CyanogenMod so I don't have the noise suppression feature to turn off. Would they still repair an unlocked phone? I've been making more calls lately and it is driving me nuts.
