Time for a good rom review - Droid Eris Android Development

!My spelling isn't the best!
So I just rooted my phone, and now im in the process of trying one by one of all the of roms i can get my hands on.
I was wondering if anyone would like to help. I was thinking of some good screen shots and some small videos.
I would love a place where i could find out what these roms looked liked and how they ran.
So hit this up if you in or am I just gonna be wasting my time.
Thanks

I think this is a great idea. I know when I am looking to go to a new rom, one of the first thing i look for are screenshots, and user experience with the rom.

Sounds like a great idea. First thing I look at are screen shots as well. I've tried almost every rom out there for the Eris. Would love to help.

i think this would have the potential for sticky once it was developed fully...
it would be nice to have a one stop shop area to compare all the many different ROMs

NIce
well i was thinking something simple
- screen-shots
- videos if possible
- off the bat bugs
- speed test (which i might need some help)
- user exp (from 0.0-10.0)
if there's any more...please add more
we should probably redo this thread also. would we do a new thread for each rom?
i hope people who don't take screen-shots or any videos, would say something about the roms too. (the more info we get the more we have to work with)
and I'm also new and not the best at forums so if someone would like to to take charge in setting up these threads that would be great
Thanks

welll... actually... i dont think this forum sticky's things very easily...
but its like the threads that are always pinned to the top of the list no matter what

This is already in the works I believe. The wiki is being worked on to have a review of every ROM including benchmarks and detailed info.

As much as that's a good start, it seems unorganized. A blog is not really a good place for rom reviews. I was thinking more about a wiki. I've been working on one for a bit now. We'll see how it turns out.

im not really trying to do a review so much on the roms, im just really trying to get a better idea on what the roms look like for people.
that's it

Complete right!
I've been also a newbie myself and with the search function you can find everything. Good luck.
Wow. Just wow guys, how unhelpful can you be?
I too am looking for the new radio but a search of radio "2.14" returns no results. We are not all SEO's you know.
The above posters are absolutely correct.
A little searching is more rewarding than getting someone else to do it for you.
Feeling generous this morning though.

yep, i just found that thread too.
some people should be a little less tw4tish and worry about helping the community out a little more though.
cheers fella
to be honest many dont search, just look in the rom development thread for the radio, it isnt that difficult tbh
I just googled "2.14 Leo"and my top link was http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=788575 easy as 1 2 3

Which Sense 3.0 rom most stable?

Hi. I'm running since release RAFDROID HD 4.0.2 ROM.
I'm quiet happy with it, but want to try Sense 3.0 ROM.
I want to use my HD2 not reflash every day.
Is there any you tested , compared to other ROM's and can recommend?

The one in my signature is a great Sense 2.1+3.0 Rom. Ill also be trying the eclipse rom next.
My advice is not not ask questions like this and it gets on everybody's nerves, including my own. What is stable for us may not be stable for you so these "stable" or "best" rom topics are a waste of time and just clog up the forum.
Go and try some, read some and see what you like best of works best for you.
whoops, browser farted and re-posted.

Just the last 2 weeks? It seems like a never ending line of people creating same topics about same issues and then the same replies about the same solutions or about the same little button

Hey btw guys, If you really want to wind people up with lmgtfy or other links you should hide/disguise them with use of bbcodes, Like the following..
www.forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=989
Now when you hover over it it still shows real link but most people would simply click the link if it looks like a site internal link

We need a Kernal sticky

Im not sure if there already is one, but I think we need a sticky with all of the kernels and a description of each. I just checked the Dev thread and didnt see anything there, or in the themes or general thread. I thought I saw a Vibrant bible somewhere but I cant seem to find that at the moment either.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=771111
Here is the bible but for some reason it isn't stickied anymore in the Dev section. Wonder why other than OP isn't maintaining it.
Edit::Rider you beat me by 1min but we have two different Bibles. Haha, guess that is a microcosm of how the world works, eh?

I was thinking about putting one together too but kernel-wise there hasn't been to much new other than ICS (Eugene's...) and 99problemz. Be nice to have them all in one place but not much development on many.
Looks like Bali has atleast 3 and I know I saw atleast another 3 listed, I may look into doing this myself, hey NOOB what is your idea lol?

Lol. I was actually thinking of perhaps making this Kernel Sticky. Today would be good day to start too as I have a good amount of free time. Something else I've been thinking of is making a new version of the Vibrant Bible that could have a more detailed kernel section... Since the other two Bibles are both not maintained and even became unstickied. But I don't know. What do you think? Should I look into making a newer Vibrant Bible or a Kernel Sticky?

Yes this is a great idea, let me know if you need help. Especially with the bible there are probably 20+ ROMS that are not even on that bible, maybe you can list the issues wth each particular ROM in the bible as well, this would help direct NOOBS even better!
Sounds good. However, before I begin to put it together I feel it would only be the right thing to contact the original Vibrant Bible creator and ask permission to develop a new, more detailed Bible, with an updated list of kernels and roms.
I think thats a great idea as well, maybe you could just type something up and submit it him//her and see if they want to add it to the bible?
Why don't you guys look over the Wiki and update that instead. That way we are not at the mercy of the moderators to make things sticky. And we can update it as we go. I tried keeping it up a while back but it is a daunting task without the support of the developers to help keep their part updated.

i would like a new rom

I would like to try out a new rom cyanogemod 7.1.0 is good but i would like something new. If you could add a link to your suggestion, Thanks

Happy hunting!

Seriously, there are several links that list out different Roms.
Read up on them and figure out which one sounds the best to you, the flash it.
It's not like you can't keep switching...
Good luck!
Too many to list but flash away at a few of them-we have too many great developers here. Just make sure to thank them.

Maybe trying to get to that almost attainable "10th post"? Maybe not. I can't tear myself away from the TeamHeroc rom for very long. I like having the options for all of the variety the Hero gets from some giving devs though. :')

Which is best rom????

I tried almost all latest rom on my t-mobile htc hd2, but all rom are battery hungry
Can anyone suggest me the rom with good battery life

EDIT: Yeah that was quite harsh - I'm currently using PACman, it's quite good, but the best way is to try out ROMs yourself.

Exactly what I meant lol. I tend to do it if I've read far too many awful posts recently :L @OP if you see this I'm genuinely sorry about that ^ I'll try and be kinder in the future
i'm using PACMAN JB 4.1.2 and really pleased with it.
I think the way to get the most from your battery is primarily turn that screen brightness down!
Then be conservative with CPU settings.
Finally only turn on WIFI when you need to use it.
I get 2 days out of my HD2 like this.

Thanx mate will try it out
The concept best rom is subjective. The battery life depends on the main use you give to your device: games, social, calls, gps, etc. What is best for myself may be not so good for you. So far every rom is good, because has been developed/ported free for each of us to enjoy. So please use search function and find by yourself what rom is the best for you, according to your preferences. BTW please click on my sign Best regards
