Dialer Mod Ideas - Vibrant General

I'd like to get a list of ideas together for a dialer mod. I am not doing a dialer mod, it's definitely not my area. However, I think if we get some cool ideas going, it might entice someone to make one
I really like Samsung's dialer, however my biggest issue is the voicemail button. Who still uses that junk, so without further delay...
Suggestions:
-Option to have the voicemail tab (and long press 1) launch an app, such as google voice or another visual voicemail.
-Many of the other features regarding vibration and call waiting included in the Dialer Mod in Cyanogen's roms.
I'll add any suggestions in this thread to the list.

Hitting the green call button to act like the moto q

Just switched over...I really miss being able to hit the call button and bring up the view that the Q had. The call history on this phone sucks, it shows you an entry for every single time you call someone.
Also...A missed call is only accessible by clicking at the very top on the start bar, any way to get that down by voicemail on the today screen?

btw....nice research to all on the memory upgrades thread!
Which ROM are you using? the strength of this phone is that it is very customizable with software, tweaks, and upgrades. I can only suggest looking at the software HTC Home or SPB Diary/Mobile Shell for notifications on the today screen.
I'm just using whatever came with the phone....I'm on the sprint network. Most of the ROM related things that I saw were for Verizon. Is there a good thread that explains roms and breaks down the different ones with screen shots etc?
You'll want to look in the Titan Upgrading thread, which has oodles of info. I'm using dcd's 3.0.1 ROM. And I'm on Sprint as well.

AOSP Dialer Benefits

Seems like a lot of people recently are asking for the AOSP dialer? I was just wondering why..my sister has a moment which has a dialer similar looking to the AOSP one. I always found the hero one to be so much better especially with the way it searches thru your contacts as you dial. Do people just like the look of the AOSP dialer better or am I missing something here?
People really like the AOSP dialer because it doesn't lag when you type... the reason for this is because the HTC one searches for contacts while you type, and if you have a lot of contacts... well... you can guess Plus, some people just like the look of the AOSP dialer (like me).
It takes less taps to get to your Favorites. On the HTC dialer you have to tap the phone log button, then groups, then favorites.
AOSP dialer is just one tap--the favorites button.

I liked the AOSP Dialer because it was hot! However, if you remove the haptic feedback of the dialer you have....or put it on a mod'ed black dialer...it has ZERO lag and flies
Does anyone have this in a flashable ZIP?
I believe you just install the contacts.apk and press the talk button and select it as your default

Customising the Google Now shortcut menu?

So you know how when you hold down on the home button and that semi-circle menu appears with Google Now....is there any way of adding your own shortcuts to that because it seems like you should be able to, and they've missed a trick if that feature isn't included. Anyone know?

As far as I can find, there is no such capability. I think the "ring" only shows up as a visual cue to tell you to slide up to activate GNow.
check out some custom roms and you can change the ring, but as far as I know there aren't any apps that would do it on a stock nexus
I wish they had added this, why wouldn't they?
Google make some ridiculous decisions.....

Disable Dialer Auto Minimize While Calling

Here's a peculiar issue and I'm trying to resolve it.
Whenever a call is made using CM10/CM9 the dialer automatically minimizes in background because Service Provider sends a message saying what discount is available on this call. Probably to show the message, dialer minimizes itself.
I have to go back to the notification drawer, select current call and then go back to the call after hitting okay at the message. This is very annoying, specially when speaker phone is not enabled and I'm unable to drag down the notification drawer because proximity sensor detects my hand too close to the display.
Point is this doesn't happen in stock ROMs, any of them be it ICS/GB. I tried replacing the dialer from stock but its integrated in CM10 framework thus replacing files doesn't help. I tried some dialer apps, they do work by not getting minimized but then I don't really like using them, CM10 dialer or stock dialer looks much better than custom ones.
Probably this issue doesn't happen to much or rather any fellow member here, but would appreciate some input that can help me fix the problem.

Theme Quick Toggles and SMS Floating Window

Hi guys,
i have two questions about Bugs? Dont know exactly.
Well
The First thing is, i write many SMS (there still exists ) and for this i use:
SMS Messaging (AOSP)
(Dont have enough Posts to link to the Play Store. You can search for it.
It's the stock sms app before hangouts appears)
It works fine with Hover Notification but when i click on it, i get immediatley to the homescreen and only after that the floating window appears.
So im not able to write InGame or "InApp". You know what i mean.
I tried several SMS Stock like apps but all with the same result.
The second thing is
I like the Themer a lot but i got one problem. The Quick Toggles
(ie. WiFi Activation, Flash Light, Setting what ever)
Most of them have a second Text under it, its like PA and the Themer are trying to give the Toggles theire names.
I hope you know what i mean. Can later post a picture of it, if needed.
I hope you guys can help me.
So far ...
I tried Hangouts, even if i dont really like it.
It works so far, but i cant change the receiver of the sms because immediatley after i swiped the chat to the right, to get to the contact list, hangouts is switching right back into the chat.
Can be closed here.
I went back to the stock rom and Xposed and for the SMS Hover/Floating Window, i found an App:
Hover Chat Free (Ninja SMS)
This App has the Floating Window Function build in.
