Anyone fed up with the iPhone fanboys making SGS look bad? - Galaxy S I9000 General

as per title there are so many threads trying to put people off buying the SGS, im almost positive they arent real sgs owners.
as the rumors of the 'not up to par' screen (wtf? i mean rly?) and laggy phone complaints, just seems to be spreading, somethings up

Hm, the above looks a lot like a "fanboy" post....
People compare phones all the time, and like it or not, the iPhone is a benchmark device for many.
For me, some aspects of the iPhone are better than the Galaxy S, some are worse.
Overall, I think I'll stick with the Galaxy S, since I love the screen and believe that Android is getting better. But, currently, the iPhone does provide an overall smoother, more polished user experience, and definitely better battery life, IMO.
Being objective does not mean one is a fanboy. Posting threads like this on the other hand....

screen wise i'll take AMOLED over the iphone iris whatever screen.
lag... well only affects the non tekki people, but even if i was technologically challenged, i'd not mind rebooting the phone.
heck all the previous phone i've had, it was normal thing to have to reboot them several times a day, specially windows mobiles ones, and all the memory leaks.
on PalmOS it was only when a specific software hungs

I don't care one bit.
I bought this phone for a reason, it stands up to what i wanted from it, and more.
Even if the army of apple fanboys tries to take people "off" buying this phone, i don't know if you follow the news, but it sells MASSES. Crossed over 1 mil units since launch, and that's even before U.S carriers launcehd it.
Plus it's supposed to arrive in 110 contries total, while now it only sells in 13 or so.
So let the apple fanboys say and do what they want, i don't feel any obligation to "fight" them.
Anyone who will get interested and see it's a good device- will take it, regardless of what iZombies say.

lol macboy shutup, i cant be a fanboy you silly ass, ive never owned a samsung
my point is the guy who wrote an essay about how bad he thinks the SGS is and why he is returning it, has got nearly 2000 views on that thread. will put people off and we want more owners for better support.
thanks

OP, do you consider me one of the iPhone fanboys making SGS look bad too?
BTW, which threads are you looking at that make you feel so persecuted?

You're free to write an essay about why you won't buy an iPhone too... I doubt it'll get very popular though, as there are thousands of those out there already.

it really comes down to "to each their own" choice to get a phone they "believe" is working the way they "think" it is working "properly" for them.
there is no such thing as a perfect phone, else there would be no need for XDA forums LOL

Phone comparisons are done all the time. people come to forums like this one, some to voice their point of view, some just want confirmation, but most just want comfort after purchase.
Each to their own seemed to be the best way. If you go to iphone forums, you will see iphone bashing posts no worst for wear than any other groups.

All serious phone-blogs, that compared the iPhone 4 with the SGS
come to the conclusion, that the SGS is the better choise.
And for all the fanboys out there: the SGS does not drop a call
when you touch the bottom of the phone with your left hand!

You should go to a poor reception area and do a death grip on your SGS. This problem does affect SGS. I've tried it.

I think it's good to have varying opinions and threads - then people can see both the negatives and the positives and make a better informed choice.

Bull, I tried and and at worst I lose a bar for a second or two.

I always laugh at people who think a phone is worth arguing over.
You pays your money, and takes your choices. There are some people to whom I would never recommend a Galaxy S TBH, and as an ex iphone owner, I still think the iphone is a great phone, but in the end, I was attracted to the google OS and the limitless customisation possibilities. I wanted this, but I also wanted a screen that could rival the iphone 4, and really only the Galaxy S in the UK can do that.
Frankly though, as a phone for the every day person, the iphone is so utterly superior - I wouldn't give my dad a Galaxy S, but I would give him an iphone. I dont think he could be bothered to flash firmwares manually or do NAND fixes or ROM upgrades. He just wants it to work straight away. However, its this "basicness" that put me off the iphone in the end. With some work, in my view, you can end up with a phone OS with Android that far surpasses any iphone in terms of sheer power and flexibility.
Each to their own though.

And a single official firmware upgrade rumored to come next week can change all that. It's way too soon to draw conclusions like that.
Best advice right now for "the everyday person" is to keep their money in their pocket for a little while longer since neither phones are working like they should.

Theres a difference between the SGS and the iPhone, SGS bars drop, but as a video out there on youtube shows, the download speed remains the same, even when going from 4 bars to 1 bar.

This "bad" press is telling me something...

On the outside someone might be thinking the N1 is a terrible phone plauged with problems etc. But the more I look into these articles and reviews they seem to be 'complaining' about non issues.
You've all seen the engadget and gizmodo reviews, but take this article: 6 reasons not to like the nexus one!? This guy made up his mind before he even picked up the phone, and then wrote his article based on other bias reviews.
There was also an article featured on /. regarding the support backlash but all it cites are random 'customers' getting bounced around, and doesn't corrilate a common problem or state what these 'people' were having problem with. However there does seem to be a real problem with 3g/edge flapping. If the article had been written as well as this random forum poster I would be fine with it, but instead PCW took the angle of FUD, and it just angers me.
...and then it hit me, this phone might just be the iphone killer and fanboys are actually getting scared. Thoughts?
"6 reasons to hate" is a hands-off schoolboy attempt at bashing.
he's just pissed he isn't important enough (or hasn't budgeted his finances) enough to have one handed him.
the other non-reviews are a farce. when there is a real, hands on, weekly use review of the nexus, i'll listen up. for now it's all M$ generated (and other mobile OS venders) fud that proves the nexus is awesome hardware, running awesome software.
sure, there are some what-ifs about verizon/att/whoever, but they're just carriers. dumb pipes. really really dumb pipes. we all know it's the hardware and more importantly the SOFTWARE that matters. the dumb pipe carriers are just mad they finally have a real reason to fear phones that are not chained to their crappy services and contracts.
let them whine. the fud is easy to cut through with logic.
I got the Nexus One. Your are correct, the only problem is the 2G/3G connection switching. The computing power of this phone is amazing.
I never like professional reviews for anything, movies, games or tech because theyre all just some one paid to write their opinion, and you never know whos writing their check, or their companies check. I do however like user reviews from people that paid for and really use the product, and I think those have been strong. I think the most important part of the "6 reasons not to like" article is all the backlash at the bottom and users defending the phone, shows how much people really like theirs already. I am really lovin this phone, also I havent had the 3G issues some have been having, I have a mytouch, G1 and N1, all on TMob and they all have 3G all the time for me, I think it really depends on the market cause if it was a hardware or software issue I would think everyone would have that problem
am I the only one who IS NOT seeing this 2G-3G problem? I mean I do see the 3G connection sometimes going from 2 bars to 4 bars in the same area, and In some places around where I live I can't get 3G coverage, but this is the EXACT SAME behavior I saw on my MT3G
First off, I have to say that I absolutely love the N1...I don't remember the last time I was this obsessed with a gadget both before and after I got it.
That being said, I was starting to get a little nervous while waiting for FedEx because of all the bad press I was seeing. But then I noticed that a large chunk of this press was generated by sites like macworld.com or other apple, iphone, mac related sites. While the N1 has some minor glitches(what piece of technology doesn't), this is mostly a case of fanboys feeling threatened because people won't be oohing and aahing over there iphone as much.
P.S. I came from a G1 and am seeing absolutely no difference/problem with my 2g/3g service.
These network issues seem to be only in the US.
Never had any problems in the UK with my iPhone/3G, G1, Hero.
But then again pretty much all the UK is 3G anyway
Clearly people are writing this phone off without even seeing/using it!
Was in work and two are big WinMo and iPhone fans and they even said a few hours after it was officially announced that the iPhone is better without even knowing anything about it! I then told them about the Snapdragon / 512mb ram etc and then they shifted it saying yer but Android is rubbish!
But in work their are also a few Android users (G1, Tattoo and Hero) and they couldn't wait to see what Android does and if anything from the N1 will get ported etc!
Its just like the good old which console is the best? 360 or PS3! You can argue all day but you will never win the argument!

i agree completely. i have zero, ZERO problems with by n1 except for the dynamic polar clock of course. Google was very prompt with a return e-mail about the polar clock also. im very sure Google has an update soon for up to fix the polar clock and the 3g/edge switch issue. i seem to remember alot of bad press about the iphone when it originally came out also, as i recall it had alot of bugs. i guess this is "bad press" is our hater-aid and we should just drink up while the ifanboys drink their Apple kool-aid.

REMOVABLE BATTERIES?! NON-SENSE! (sarcasm)
I don't really get why people are bashing the N1. In the end, it's the same as the 3gs in terms of app placement- the hardware's faster than the other two models and developers have to make a choice of whether or not to take advantage of it- Android's made tons of improvements and now there's even fewer restrictions on the hardware (sold unlocked, super easy root)
I've loved my G1 for awhile and while it's a tank, I eagerly await getting the N1 at the end of the month as I've been able to toy with one (boss ordered after CES) and it pretty much lives up to all the hype.
I'm eager to get my hands on the section of the SDK that will allow for programming of live wallpapers- i love theming, and I can't wait to get a few of my ideas for a live background.

The trackball comment sounded like it was pulled directly from the gizmodo review. The trackball does the same thing it has on every android phone, there's nothing to report here.
Those tech writer/review are dumb asses. Every new good potential phones that come out they write up a review or hand on and then compare it to the iphone and then they talk junk about it. Esp those engadget @sshole. For ex, when the N900 came out, they talk mad sh!t about it comparing to the iphone, well for once, if they were smart enough, iphone is up to 3.1 version, and maemo 5 is still not complete. And now the nexus, android os had about 1.5 yr to grow so far. Iphone os? Well maybe 3 now? Iphone didnt have mms til 3.0 comes out, those reviewer are a bunch of iphone fanboys who seriously cant stand the thought of a competing device that might have a chance to beat it. I rather read forums and base my buying decision than trusting some blog writing techy.

I had a discussion yesterday with one of my coworkers on that, because he's stuck on a family plan. But this is a t-mobile decision, and them doing what they've always done and screwing over existing customer in favor of new signups. I'd kinda like to see the churn numbers at tmo. In any event, its still cheaper to buy the phone outright and continue with my grandfathered plan, even further non-contract plans are still cheaper in the end, and tmo is the only provider currently offering this inside the United States.
I hate everything about my new super sleek, super fast N1. What I hate most is its speed. Actually, I think I hate its awesome screen the most. Or that it's too light and thin for the power it has. I also hate how easily my contacts, calendar and email sync seemlessly with my device. I hate the fact I have to use a top of the line browser when going online and I especially hate that all my music plays so well. Watching all those HD quality movies I've converted and watching high quality YouTube videos is so boring. I can't stand my desktop full of all those widgets that provide me with useful information and those folders keeping my apps sorted just get in the way. But--and here's the most important thing I hate about my N1--I hate that I can make phone calls wherever I am. I'd much rather my calls be dropped. And that's all before I even rooted it to get access to more stuff to make my N1 terrible.

Current benchmark phone, last year it was the iPhone, this year! Whats your pick?

Hey everyone, so I was reading this post from another Xda'er and was reading comments from almost a year ago from this article Here, I came across a post by a person that read this
"Same. iPhone is the de facto benchmark (for now) that this will likely beat by a good measure. The mitigating factor -- for some -- is if you need the variety of iPhone's apps. It'll be a constant balance between that flexibilit*y and the faster network/mo*re power this device is capable of."
This was on the comments section of the CTIA announcement of the Evo, I just came to the realization that I stopped comparing my phone to the iPhone long ago and actually started Benching it up with other Android Devices. I thought it was pretty funny, I mean I like the iPhone if it was on Sprint I would surely get one but now that I am seeing these new phones its just awesome!
Anyone else have a similar experience thus far?

The iPhone never really was the benchmark hardware-wise. They tend to release very competitive hardware for the release period (Ex: iPhone 5 will be one of the most advance phones released on launch) but a month or two later a newer better spec'd phone will be out (Like the SGS vs. iPhone 4). The one thing that the iPhone still continues to do good is in the optimization of it's software. With just one model a year to focus on, Apple will always make sure that iOS squeezes out as much performance from the hardware.

Very true. I dont think I was comparing hardware when I first saw these phones, I was a complete noob I still had a samsung rumor let me tell you that phone was priceless it was a little brute! But I never really cared for specs on iPhones it was more or less how smooth the experience is like you said I commend apple with how amazingly optimized their software is. It is just awesome, I really wish android had this but it is still coming into its own my only fear is that new devices will keep being pushed out like candy and new ones will be completely forgotten after less than 6 months this will be the trend, if so android has no stable platform, I think this is fragmentation but hey it keeps getting better and look at the dev community here they do an AMAZING JOB, they are OUR optimizers just wish they had more back pocket to push them and more people to help like Apple does but then again they have to....I think I just typed what I was thinking....oh well hope some of this had a point.
my roommate has an iphone and they were all up in steve jobs bum about how awesome it is and didn't like my evo when I got it (had 2.1at the time) I didnt care much about how great the iphone screen was as it was too small for me, now that I think about it ever since I rooted I can't recall an instance when their iphone did something better
they are talking about how they want to jailbreak it now and I actually thought " how cute that they want to take their little toy out of the box"
my evo is far superior and I dont think the iphone is competition
With all respect, when can this forum grow up and stop with the iPhone comparison and bashing? It's really pretty gross after this long. It's like the little brother who beat his big brother in HORSE once and then talks about it for five years.
I'm not saying Apple deserves to be praised for everything they do, but at some point we should just realized that not only are these devices months old by now, but that in the end, nobody really cares if the iPhone is the "benchmark" or not. iPhone has the popularity, and Apple has the customer base which won't listen to a (bad) word you have to say about their device. You're essentially preaching to the choir with all these threads, and it's not really accomplishing anything.

Did you read any of my posts at all. I wasnt bashing the iPhone in any way at all I ACTUALLY SAID I WOULD BUY ONE....I would drop my android phone for an iPhone right now if it was on Sprint but its not and I like android all the same too. I wouldnt mind having both but seriously dude your post accomplished nothing and has proven you didnt read the 2 more verbose posts not that one guys where is he saying his phone can do anything the iPhone can, stop trying to be some hero and be "neutral" when I started this thread not as an iPhone bashing thread I had just realized this point and wanted to see if anyone else had, so before you hijack my thread and at nothing more I PLEAD with you to read what else I have written and edit your post with help information. I actually thing I described fragmentation which Applbots love to talk about Android Fanboys love to omit from their knowledge and sane people who dont really argue over it for we have XDA.
P.S. I dont know where you come from where my opinion doesnt matter, to me it surely does and I could give .02 if it matters to you, the thing is I was curious if anyone else had similar thoughts.

Pretty much. When that Iphone drops on Verizon people are REALLY going to see how popular that phone is. There are still a ton of people that want it but wont switch to at&t to get it. Both OS have their advantages but the thing that I still miss about IOS is the apps by far.

iPhone doesn't have the popularity anymore. Android has been outselling iPhones for months now. So, we have the more popular brand now.
Also, have you ever been on an iPhone forum? All they do is bash Android. They have whole threads dedicated to it. They have fake reviewers ***** about how terrible Androids are:
http://techcrunch.com/2010/05/29/htc-evo-4g/
They write on our YouTube videos (guides, reviews, just showing off the phone because we love it) being little brats and throwing insults my 12 year old brother would shake off and laugh at.
So, for a couple of Android loving Evo owners to complain about iPhone and it's users in a private environment not only shows more maturity than iPhone users, it shows respect to their videos and forums by not flooding the internet with useless, incorrect rabble. We can admit the iPhone owns benchmark without getting our panties in a twist, but even I'm sick of hearing about it on phonedog reviews for Android phones.

Did you read one WORD even a single sentence, I stated I liked the iPhone, are you trying to troll, this thread needs to be cleaned up.
I admit that title was misleading and was ignorant apologies alright it sounded different to me at the time. It was more personable and was not intended for community interpretation.

The thread doesn't need to be "cleaned up," the forum needs to be cleaned up. I'm pretty sure the name of the forum we're in is "Evo 4G General," as in, related to the Evo 4G - NOT some roundabout broad topic discussion about the iPhone. Go to the more general forums if you want to talk about that. I'll just keep talking about the phone, as this forum was meant, and deterring those who aren't. Sound good?

I don't think benchmarks matter because... speed doesn't really matter much anymore.
Seriously I haven't had any lag issues with my phone besides the awful GPU.
Nowadays every phone seems to be strong enough to handle anything.
To me, features mean more than specs now... somewhat.

Speed does matter. Resolutions are increasing, animations and presentation are getting more sophisticated, etc. But the issue isn't the CPU, it's the GPU and I've been saying this for a long time. We don't need a dual core CPU to run the Facebook app; and it's unlikely that we'll be see many apps in the future that require that much power either. It just doesn't fit the on the go and small form factor use case of a smartphone. I still expect the power to increase but I think a much more logical progression in 2011 would be single core Cortex A9. It'd still be way more powerful than anything pre-CES and the power efficiency would be higher especially as the die size decreases even further.
The main bottle neck is the GPU. Think of every app that DOES require power to be smooth and fast: Google Earth, 3D view in Google Maps, fringe features like Live Wallpapers, and of course, games. Basically mobile apps will not need lots of computation power to process tasks but might need graphical power to display the information it outputs. So just pair up a =< 40nm single core A9 with a beast GPU (PowerVR SGX 545 or equivalent), a huge battery (1920 mAh like the Atrix 4G, and why not? the phones are HUGE now), smaller more efficient radios and components, and bam, you got a phone that'll eclipse all current phones, run super smooth, and last all day under heavy use.
Once Android is GPU accelerated it'll be hard if not impossible to tell the difference (visually, not through benchmarks) between a single core and dual core phone that shares the same GPU.

Why all the Samsung misconception and hate?

I have seen numerous HTC fans spew crap about Samsung for updates and build quality issues. For example, many state that the plastic build quality is of very low quality, of which is very opposite in reality in which in plastic is actually very solid. I have dropped my Vibrant many times and it still looks like new, can't say that about metal which dents and gets dinged. As for updates, blame your carriers. The international versions got updates several months before the carrier versions.
Here are some quotes from some obvious HTC users.
"Last year, Consumer Reports (a major U.S. publication) branded the U.S. Galaxy S versions as some of the best Android phones. Not only were they NOT the best, they were missing some basic functionality and lagged like a phone from a previous generation. Let's not even talk about lack of support from Samsung. Too many people fall for the SAMOLED eye candy and ignore everything else."
Or "Thank god I have some help.. hehe I honestly dunno why these SamSux people think S G II is pretty muhahua. It's one ugly plastic crap i've ever seen. They keep coming in HTC thread telling people to buy their plastic crap. "
Or "Another troll just childish, u will se Samsung will never have so awesome devs like HTC phones have especially when.I look at the desire section, a lot of them will buy a sensation and that's the reason why i will buy one to "
What do you think about the public conception of Samsung here at XDA?
The first quote is spot on. The lag was unbearable, the GPS inop, and support was nonexistent. Samoled was nice until you seen the jagged text. Battery life was also terrible. The phones are usable now, after 3-4 updates (updates that were bricking phones and frying storage, mind you) but the GPS is still borderline useless for lots of people and it still lags more than a Samsung jack wm6.5 device (by a long shot).
I they do better with the s2 good for them, but they are indefendable irt these phones. Hype can only get you so far...

Way to read my first paragraph. Support was due to the carriers, not Samsung directly. And I still do not understand what this lag is, even on JFD I had installed 30 apps and still little to no lag for me.
And the jagged text? have both a HD7 and a HD2 with me no, and I see no difference worth speaking of between the screens. I do 20/20 vision.
Battery life terrible? Wait till you see the desire HD or thunderbolt. The GS2 has also been reported to have good battery life.
Have you even tried a custom rom N8ter? CM7 nevers lags, even when underclocked to 400 mhz. And as to that HTC phones work better out of the box statement, we are on XDA. Hell, many of those HTC fanboys wanted the Sensation due to the dev attention they believed it would get, even with a locked bootloader.
I don't mod my phones and nor should anyone be expected to. The performance of the phone now is usable. Where was cyanogen in august to December 2010, though?
Don't answer that.
Bunch of excuses. What you quoted is true.
Text on a samoled panel is more jagged than on others. Its a side effect of the pen tile pixel arrangement used. Its very noticeable when you have white text on a black background - at least for me it is.
These panels also suffer from burnin more than any other screen type I've used.
Support from carriers does not help when the hardware is faulty (gps)'or the device has design flaw like rfs. Samsung can push out an update that replaces rfs. They choose not to. They should have recalled phones with known hw gps falls but.they just blamed it on the users andbgave them a useless tool to rwser some setting many of us never touched to begin with.

This is the fourth vibrant I've had, gps was piss poor, and I was able to get new ones because of it. This newest handset has really good locks. I like the phone even after the gps problems. I bought an otter box and some ghost armor. With the case it feels solid. I know not everyone will get a case to make the phone feel built but it's nice. Id buy another samsung device no problem. I like the feel and ease of use.

Fact: Despite samsung's delay in releasing froyo for the vibrant and it's GPS problems, the vibrant was/is still a greatr phone with an awesome display and great hardware!
Guys , am just wating for galaxy s 2 , rumour has it that it is going to be the best smart phone for a long time!!
I have to agree with N8ter. This will probably be my last Samsung device. I told myself from the start I'd never get another Samsung device, but it was all Asurion had to replace my water-damaged, but beloved N1. Ugh. I wish I had waited for them to get something else.
The lag KILLS me! I want to throw the damn phone against the wall or some concrete almost daily. Samsung could have definitely kept RFS to their damn selves. Even the browser lags on me most times.
I get a bunch of missed calls even when I have full coverage. The only way I'd even know I would miss them is if my girlfriend would text me to pick up my phone or check Google Voice for missed calls.
The GPS... yeah. Go back to the comment about me wanting to throw my phone against the hardest surface available, and multiply that by 100. The GPS has almost made me late for several appointments (job interviews, drug testing, etc.), and actually gotten me lost in my own native home of Atlanta. I don't get how the hell the GPS can possibly think I'm somewhere .5 miles away then where I am actually am.
I absolutely hate how it doesn't have an LED. NoLED does the job, but isn't really what I would call a suitable replacement.
I also hate how it looks like an iPhone. If I wanted an iPhone lookalike, I would have went out and bought an iPhone. I am really tired of people always asking me, "Is that an iPhone?"
I also despise TouchWiz. I despise manufacturer skins in general, but touchwiz REALLY grinds my gears.
One of the very few good redeeming qualities about this damn phone is the amount of internal storage, but which I barely make use of b/c of wanting to keep all of files stored on my external. I also like the dev tools they have, such as Odin. It's saved me a couple of times from bad flashing and just plain operator error. I also like how easy it was to install the front facing camera. But, then again, why the hell should I have to install it in the first place?
Overall, I am not a happy camper with Samsung. Once I start this new job, or get my financial aid refund check , it's definitely time for a new phone, and it sure as hell won't be Samsung. I was thinking about giving this phone to my girlfriend to replace her T-Mobile Tap, but I don't know if I want to torture her that much.
P.S. This is after using custom roms. God forbid how horrid my experience would have been on stock. I think I might have really thrown it in oncoming traffic.
its obvious that you're stuck in your mindset, so why even start a thread? its useless. coming from an owner of both brands, each have pros and cons. my epic and inspire both have poor battery life. inspire is smooth while the epic lags. furthermore, my epic has better overall display, but the inspire looks better picture wise, not contrast or color, quality. my point is, phones appeal to one person or another. no need for a useless thread targeting one manufacturer.

You are just whining and repeating what other members have stated so many times in this thread. HTC sucks, Samsung will always be better. All the problems that you are whining about disappeared when custom roms came. That's the point of custom roms so you don't have to use the crappy stock firmware. Anyway if you are still having trouble after using a custom rom and still think you have room to complain, then you probably shouldn't even own an android device and it is most likely user error. You're just an HTC fanboy, I am not saying that Samsung is the best but they are better than HTC. On top of that the Vibrant outdoes most of the new phones and all of the older phones that T-mobile has and it's over 6 months old. So quit basing your opinions on the phone off of your HTC loyalty.

And you're a closed-minded Samsung fanboy so you can take your opinion and go eat shi* for all I care. Most of my complaints might have been stated already, but clearly the more times it's stated proves it's not just isolated incidents. I'm not basing my phone off of any loyalty. I'm basing it off of the fact that it frustrates the hell out of me. And I assure you it's not user error. I've been dealing with computers and electronics and modding etc since I was 7 and am a computer science major, so I assure you it's not user error. Every single one of those problems has persisted since I used a custom rom, and who the hell are you to tell me I shouldn't own an Android device? I know all about custom roms and have been using them since I got my first smartphone, the HTC wizard. If you think Samsung is better than HTC, that's fine. We're all entitled to our opinion. I, however, could care less about another Samsung phone ever again. I really regret the day my Nexus One fell in that pot of water.

Don't forget, with HTC and moto(dont quote me on moto), they don't have Odin. That is a HUGE selling point for me. I would be pissed if I spent $x on a HTC phone, and had a bad flash. I am commited to buying a usa sgs2. Why with the terrible support we've had? I truely think that samsung has learned their lesson. Releasing the source so soon after the phones launch is amazing. I have also read just about every review and watched every video. Its exactly the experience I want.
Even with all the problems of the sgs... I still love it. The reason why I know I love it is cause I am currently using a mytouch 4g. Its great that I can overclock it to 1.5ghz. So yeah.. seems like the iPhone 5 wont be announced until September.. which means SGSII will be safe for another few months.
I'm just joking.. or am i?
Iv just had so many problems with the SGSII... I just dont know what phone to get right now.. since the SII is the best out. I dont want to buy it again.
Iv never owned an apple product before.. but my brother has owned lots..
Wish they announced it so i could compare the two and see which one is the best
---- IF it is the SII then i might have to go back to it >.>... so i hope they do something good with the iphone
Fanboys gtfo thanks.
No phone is perfect but remember when you buy an iphone no flash, no flash, no flash...it's not that it's not possible to run run but apple have decided for you the user experience it just not good enough, you can't even try it for yourself and remove if you don't like it or keep it even if a half baked flash is good enough for you, nope apple have made the choice for you: no flash!
Expect to wait a while longer than september. The iphone 4 plus will be coming first with some minor improvements but no major changes.
Sent from my GT-I9100 using XDA App
And you know it's not only that I dislike the apple mentality of them making the (right) choices for me I also despise apple as a company, I am a free market capitalist at heart and very seldom find companies evil but apple is one such rare company:
the way they abuse patents and trademarks (ie. steal ideas from small companies) and patent/trademark them and then sue the inventing company is truly evil.
I'm sick of my iPhone 4. I've been a hardcore blackberry user for years, and yes, while the experience wasn't as nice, it was A LOT more open than iOS. iOS has some good ideas, unifying a single format / layout, and all its apps follow the same guidelines, which makes it a good phone for people that know NOTHING about phones! A friend of mine DECIDES to pay THAT Much more for an iMac just because "it works right away, I don't need to configure anything" and Apple products are basically that... "It works without having to do anything" I personally jailbroke mine, and I still can't stand it. Apps apps apps apps! No personalization past ordering up the apps, and 2 pictures (lock screen and behind the apps).
I think Android will be safe for a very long time. They run on a different market. Not to mention, Apple sells things WAY over priced. The iPhone 4 16 gigs cost me the same RIGHT NOW as my SGSII (which should be here at ANYYYYY moment! Come on vodafone! It was shipped! GET TO MY DOOR!)
Apple makes good products for a good demographic, but you also need to understand that the majority of the population doesn't want to configure, or decide. The simpler the better. My BEST FRIEND of 15 years now has a blackberry and an iphone, still, she only texts and uses facebook. Hmmm....
Regardless, you shouldn't see it as "the SGSII is in danger or safe" as it's the family of Android phones. You don't see people saying "Oh no! The iPhone 3G is in danger! But there are 2 other models out! BUT POOR 3G!" No, who cares! more choices = better, for us!
Smartphones BEFORE the iPhone were pretty much all resistive screens, tiny ones, big and bulky. The iPhone has helped us out. The more Apple "revolutionizes" (AKA. taking something that has been there for years, making it pretty, and calling it new) the better for us!

Really the first multitouch capacitive touchscreen build in 1972! when apple introduced it, they meant they dug it up from a grave and reanimated it!
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Multi-touch
The only thing i dislike about andriod phones are that there are so many with lots of different specs.. I cant just download any app and use it right away. As for iOS there is only one phone each year that uses it.. which makes it more easy to download any app you want and use it right away.
I hate downloading apps just to find out that it crashes, lags or doesnt even start up.
I like andriod OS better then iOS.. but like i said.. there are too many phones using the andriod OS.
As for Macs.. yeah.. i think they are worthless. You pay so much more money for something that is less powerful than a custom built PC.
I built my PC a few months back and i also got a 27" 2560x1440 monitor (to match up with the iMac 27" screen)
It cost like £100 more for my PC but its 100times more powerful than any iMac.
Also.. the reason why the iPhone4 is still the same price is cause apple only lowers it once a new iphone comes out. They know that people will still forke out that much cash for an iphone.. unlike samsung nokia htc etc.. they always lower the price of their phones cause they just bring out so many per year that they have to.
I really don't think iphone5 would've affected SGS2 sales that much. I'm preety sure I5 will be a good phone but not better than SGS2.

your right.. its better than any iphone.. out right now... unless you can tell the future
My personal uneducated guess would be that the iPhone 5 will be a speed bumped iPhone 4 shipped along with iOS 5.
Which in the end, still doesn't make it better than the Galaxy S2 right now.
Do you really think people cross-shop iOS and Android? Apple people follow their leaders cult-like and keep re-purchasing Apple products. For people that want easy and consistent, nothing beats an iPhone. But those same two points, especially the second one, is what make people turn away. I for one can't stand the banal conformity of Apple products and can't see myself becoming one of the Borg. To test the theory, go to an iPhone forum and post a question about iOS vs. Android. They'll skin you alive.
If you are okay with a smaller screen, having to manage music, photos, video library via iTunes (having a mac helps ) then even an iPhone 4 is a nice choice.
It has unrivaled battery life, does everything its supposed to do pretty good, has enough apps to keep you busy (if you are a heavy apps user that is) etc.
Me, I couldn't get used to a 3.5 screen after using a captivate for a week, the itunes is horrible on my windows machine, drag and drop ain't bad and the retina hype is not enough to match the super amoled awesomeness....
Its all preference, IMO try your options if you can, and settle for what is good for you. I am here today because flashing my captivate and the screen plus music playback is awesome, and battery life after modded is almost on par with iPhone 4. So all good for me.
What you like may be hated or laughed at by another, and that's life.
i wouldnt be able to live with a 3.5" screen. There have been rumors that the new iphone will have atleast 4" screen.. if not then i wont even think about buying it.
My opinion: I don't think Apple will be releasing a mind-blowing, bar-setting iPhone 5 this year.
Perhaps next year, iPhone 6 will be.

Please don't forget that the iPhone is a device mainly targeted for the women crowd (can't remember where I read that over 70% of iPhone users are women). As such, it can't get bigger than 3.5" screen, since their small hands couldn't handle it.

Hmm...Atrix 4G spots a 4" screen but the phone itself is about the same size as the iphone
i think the OP has made a decision that he should buy IPhone simply because he is fed up with one or two annoying features of SGS2.... is that true my friend ???
just because of 1 or 2 features which u might like it better on iphone, dont make ur decision of buying an iphone 5.... because no matter what, SGS2 can beat the iphone 5 right out of the box... in addition to that, so many customizations r coming including the CM7... which is great... u never feel the same as before...
so be patient & wait for some more time... then u give us ur openion... which inturn will be favouring SGS2 i am sure....
till then enjoy the positive things about ur SGS2....
One of the reasons why I moved from the iPhone 4 to the S2 is because every 2nd person I see has an iPhone 4, it was depressing.
And the inability to change notification sounds meant that whenever I heard the notification tone play, I had to second guess if it was my phone.

My opinion: I don't think Apple will be releasing a mind-blowing, bar-setting iPhone 5 this year.
Perhaps next year, iPhone 6 will be.

Until Apple decide to change the way they make their iPhones, android will still be way up top.
Even when iPhone 6 comes out, the SGS3 will probably be 2x better lol.
Also, the majority of iPhone users who purchase an iPhone don't even know what android can do/is capable of and assume iPhone will always be the best phone out...
I was going to buy an iPhone but the only thing appealing about is iTunes.

iPhone user is speechless over the Note

I don't have a note yet,(epic touch 4g user), but I really want one..
Anyways, I thought you would get a kick out of seeing what a iPhone users' reaction was when confronted with a challenge from this phone..
Funny stuff!

"My phone cant do anything that phone can"
Priceless.
I love reading the comments and iPhone Fanboys getting mad.
yep, the comments are even funnier than the video!
Ha! Yeah, the comments are great. It's almost like some people are offended by it's existence, and HAVE to hate on it.
In saying that, it was a pretty unfair test. But in saying THAT, she is the 'typical' iPhone user.
They were just showing the "unique" features powered by the S-Pen.
Kinda don't see the point :\
Comments are funny!
I agree the tests were too slanted toward the Note, but it was designed to show what it can do that the iPhone cannot. I am not sure you cannot get an app to edit PowerPoint files, but the rest would be quite difficult without some very sophisticated software. The photo editing and screenshot / drawing is all, but it makes a great point!
The fact is this is marketing. Nothing has to be true or fair. As is being argued in comments, Apple tried exactly this with the caricatures of the Apple vs PC users. Payback's a *****, guys!
I believe the iPhone was a great phone when it was created. The iPad was also a great idea, much better than the laggy Windows Tablets. Some of the best things about these have been copied in Android. The painful truth is that the phone and pad have not improved. The painful reason is the same one that Apple, who started with the first commonly available GUI (I know about X-Windows, before you start, heck, I used to use it, but it was not in common use). That reason is a lack of change. The reason for that reason? A closed platform, and for both hardware and software.
Look at what happened to the very open architecture of the IBM PC in the same time frame. Look what is happening to Android devices in the same time frame. I think the reason for the stagnation is clear.
Love it. The ismall can't compete
From the Beast : Galaxy Note
Prior to the GNote I had owned every iteration of iPhone since it was first released (preceded by Windows Mobile phones, Pocket PC's, and almost every model of Palm devices up to the IIIc). So far, the GNote is by far the most functional device I have owned. Since I am using it to replace a 4s and iPad 2, I have not found it to be too large - in fact, if it was another 1/2 inch I wouldn't mind (that's what she said <g>).
Anyways, no regrets with my decision to jump ship. Great device!
The comments are what makes the video.
it's a little sad that even though the note has its major advantages over ip4s, commercials like this will most likely return as bad publicity
As much as I love the Note, and as much as I love seeing Android put Apple to shame, I do think it would be a much fairer test if the 4S were pitted up against the GS2 i9100. The GS2 was considered the best smartphone of 2011, and it's no wonder! Love that thing!

Don't they say that any publicity is good?
Yeah the comparison is stacked as I can do all those things with my wife's Iphone albeit with third party apps and so would any self respecting geek. Then again so are Iphone commercials, as is latest windows challenge.
It is almost imperative that advertising not be fair.
The reality is that the lady is just average consumer and as such, they are pretty dumb.
Hell, in my immediately circle of family and friends there's about 20 iphones and none of them know anything past calling, checking messages, emails and Facebook.
Not cool Sammy
I Love the Galaxy Note, but this time I feel embarrassed and ashamed by this ad.
Samsung went too low with this.
If I go to the street with my 7 year old Windows Mobile, and run a similar test against most recent android phones, what will I prove?
Besides, there are capacitive stylus for iPhones, and if it was an iPhone user with one of these capacitive stylus to make a similar add against any unprepared android user, it will have the same result.
I understand there are a lot of iPhone haters around here, but one thing is that we know our phone is better that an iPhone for many reasons, other is to offend and ridicule others because they don't follow you.
The original web ads about the features were so much more "Woweeee! I want that!" for me....
Just ran a sun spider bench mark and got 1331. So a lot better than 4s. Its obvious how the devices differ and which device is clearly superior. No idea why apple fan boys get so crazy when a better device than theirs gets released though. If another company releases a higher spec device... why does it matter. Its almost certainly gonna happen to us note users at some point. But I take pride at the moment.

Soooo many dislikes on that video. We have to spread the word on this.
The point is: They got your attention and got YOU talking.
Its already a success due to that.
Apple already does similar marketing strategies. So I dont get why there's so much hate
Oh i am so in love with that girl. And now she she like Android so all is well
I wouldn't say "speechless". ***** wouldn't stop talking.
What I don't understand is why so many Note users dislike this ad so much. It's not like this is the only commercial out there that is 'unfair' to its competition.
