Gmail warning account accessed from Israel - HTC Aria General

Hope none of these mods or apps expose our private gmail account/psw data to nefarious sources.
This morning I was greeted with a message upon logging into Gmail that "..we suspect your account had been accessed from IP XXX XXX XXX XXX Israel.. please consider change password..." (paraphrasing the message)
It presented a log of all recent connects and sure enough it shows two IP connects from Israel, don't know if that means all my private email and banking is now toast.

I got one of those long before I even had an android device so I don't think someone here is leaking your email to other people fire nefarious purposes. I suggest you just change your password and see if it happens again.

Yeah I got one from China a few weeks ago. I dont think it has anything to do with Android.

I got a message similar to this except from Australia. I traced it back to being an at&t ip. I then later matched it to my login on my server... so it must just be an Ip that's assigned even though we are in the states.

Inability to access google account

I went to sleep last night awaiting my first day at sixth form. My G1 was going to be there for internet browsing whilst looking for information (school intranet is very unreliable) but I woke up with a slightly different issue. An ! mark. Turns out somebody had hacked my google account overnight and changed my password. i can now no longer access any google features, including any synced things on the phone, all because of some pesky hacker (of course not aimed at the wonderful 'hackers' on here such as drizzy, twisted, cyanogen, jac etc).
However, I only have one email address so I did not provide an alternate, and to reset my password requires me to know the date i started using my account, which I haven't got a clue. Does anybody know what I can do in this position? Thanks a lot

You can wipe your phone and create a new account. Then in the mean time just email google and see what they can do for you.
yep, thats an option. however I have purchased numerous apps (copilot being the most expensive) that are linked to the account and that I will lose.
Also, I emailed them and they said I didn't provide enough information on my account to get it back. How the hell am I supposed to know the dates I started using 1. the account 2. youtube 3. Google calendar?
Why not just provide me with a security question?

I'm wondering if you are interacting with a real Google password recovery page. From my account page the only password recovery options are:
- Secondary email (optional)
- SMS (optional)
- Security question
At no point does it ever indicate it would recover my password using something as arcane as the date I first started using Google services. By the way, I highly recommend the "Write my own question" option for the security question. Choose a question that describes a very particular characteristic of one of your heirloom or keepsake possessions.

Besides a secondary email account (which i don't have) it is not possible for me to do this! I am really pi*sed off with google at the minute, and am considering selling the G1 because of this. I am an ebay seller with items currently on and use my gmail address with confidence for that account, and unfortunately I can now no longer send/ receive emails to customers. THANKS A LOT GOOGLE

Any reason why you couldn't recover using the regular account recovery screen? It should use your security question.
I'm not sure why you're angry at Google, when your own computing practices are what probably caused your account to be exploited (probably weak password or trojan installed a keylogger)? Regardless, Google is just practicing normal due diligence for account recovery. Account recovery has to use information that only you know (and which you possibly might not even know yourself).
If you're concerned about your eBay sales, go into your eBay preferences and change your registered email.
I dont have another email address, and have no intention of creating a new one! My password is a mixture of numbers and letters (UPPER and lower case) and I have a separate laptop that handles ebay sales so the only thing that the laptop accesses is ebay website/paypal/gmail and its running linux.
The only other time i use my gmail account is on my g1.
The reason I am angry is because this is the only company I have ever seen with security measures this tight! Even when a friend lost his paypal password it was a simple DOB/ security question thing.
I go to recover password, and it asks for my email address. I then type it, and it tells me I don't have a secondary address to receive my security question and to fill in the form posted above. That is all I get, no security question!

That does sound like a pretty secure setup.
Well I guess the best you can do is just try filling out that password recovery form. It doesn't appear that dates for the times you first started using specific Google services is necessary. Worst case scenario you could just guess. Since you already don't have any access now, I reckon you have nothing to lose. Good luck!

Login session has expired.

When signing into htcsense does anyone else get this error?.
I have got the phone signed into htcsense by creating an account on the phone but when i try to login via the pc this is all i get.
I receive the verify account email when i sign up using the phone but i cannot verify/login.
If i create an account from the pc same thing happens, receive the verify email but cannot verify/login.
Support told me to try different browsers of which i have tried IE8,firefox and google chrome.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
It's rubbish I have tried everything. Sometimes it says I have logged in too many times so my accounts locked. I can only make my phone ring sometimes. It sees 200 contacts but gets an error when tries to show them. I delete my account on the phone and add it again and either of those two things never work yet alone phone finder sometimes puts me in the ocean or says its disabled. Can't believe they are showing the ad on tv when it works for some people then the next day it doesn't work. I'm going to wait couple of weeks and hope I don't lose my phone because that service will be no good to me.

Google account verification fails: captcha?!

Hi all,
My Google accounts started to act strange those days. Every now and then I get an error message saying something like: Google authentication failed. And I have to input two captchas for it to work again.
What does this mean? I never had this kind of messages on any android device....
Sent from my Nexus One using XDA App
I got a captcha a week or two ago as well. It was very bizarre. I think it happened just after I switched my phone from one SIM to another. The captcha was damn near illegible and I had no way of zooming in, so I failed a few until I got the right one.
In my case I didn't change anything. And I got the captcha already twice...makes me nervous cause I don't know if this means that somebody wants to hack my accounts...

It could be. Either your phone, your computer or someone on the same network is making a lot of repetitive requests. Or someone may be trying to guess your password by trying over and over.
It probably isn't someone trying to hack in, but it's never a bad idea to change your password to something really strong, like DiGs#[email protected]4. No words, mix of characters, numbers, symbols and case.
Yes it happen to me this week.i had to change my password. I guesting there is a virus going on our something.

I think the week I got the error, I had been accessing Google from a lot of different IP addresses:
- Home in Vancouver (Shaw)
- UBC wifi
- WIND Mobile 3G
- Mobilicity 3G
- US VPN tunnel
- My parents' place in Toronto (Bell)
- Vancouver airport wifi
- Toronto airport wifi
It has to do with Gawker Media servers being hacked. Because it happened on such a large scale, most if not all Gmail accounts had to be reauthorized and passwords changed.
It's just ElGoog looking out for you.

Acer system update enabled Microsoft Exchange Activesync...Corporate Email

Hi guys I have unrooted Acer A500 and today I got system update over the air and now I have Acer_A500_1.141.01_EMEA_Gen3 and the biggest feature of this update for me is ability to add Corporate email account ...Microsoft ActiveSync Exchange....
now my tab is configured with the push mail for my office email.....very kool.....
Also With 1.139.05_COM_GEN1 The corporate account has been activated.
Even if I'm facing strange behavior, not being able to sincronize the last 3 / 4 days.
Same configuration of exchange server is perfectly working for touchdown sw.

I also can finally access Corporate account, but not all my Contacts will come down. Can't figure out why. Calender and email are all there.
Check your contacts and see if they are all there.
Same as you, exchange global contacts not available.
As a workaround, I've installed this app:
https://market.android.com/details?id=net.vivekiyer.GAL&feature=search_result
Works like a charm !

being able to download a global address book shouldn't be allowed, as some can be HUGE (my job has 27,000+ contacts in the gal)
We had a windows mobile or android phone last year with a corrupt profile and it tried to dl the whole gal.... phone ran out of memory at 17000!
most e-mail apps will allow you to search against it though.
This one doesn't download GAL. It just let you gain access to the GAL as EMail application does it but only for email adress
Yea but I'm accessing my own personal Exchange Server and I don't enforce full encryption. I only keep about 500 names on in it in the "non corporate" side, all associated to my personal account. All 500 came into my HTC Inc2, but my Acer only brought in about 350-400. I'm trying to figure out why, was it an association to a classification, linked accounts... or what. So far seems random.
Also, I downloaded "Corporate address book" you refered to on the Market to my HTC Inc2, (says it won't load to my Acer). I set up my server and to be sure my contacts weren't "GAL" I ran it and says nothing found, no matter what I search for.
Thanks.

Warning. HTC Desire 626g creates a facebook profile for you using your number

My old phone broke (Nexus 5 running custom rom) and had to settle for an inexpensive phone.
My first mistake was not verifying if custom roms exist for this.
I am stuck on 4.4.2 android with lots of bloatware. It's ok, I can survive with this.. or so I thought.
I got a link to something on facebook and imagine my surprise when I noticed I have some friend requests.
WTF? I'm not on facebook! The Profile had my name. When I went to sign out it said "Sign out from device".
I checked using the forgot password if it signed me up using gmail, but it didn't recognize my gmail address (at least that is something).
But using my phone number it had all my details.
This is an complete invasion of my privacy that it signed me up to facebook and all those lovely tracking cookies along with it without my knowledge.
If you have a htc desire 626g , even if you don't have facebook, I'd advise you to check to see if you are automatically signed up.
