SD won't mount on OSX - Vibrant General

Anyone else have this issue? Does is mount on a PC?

I'm having the same issue. The phone will go to mount but OS X wont see the phone at all. G1 still mounts fine under OS X but not the Galaxy S. It does mount fine on the PC though. Had to do that to transfer the music from my G1 to it. If anyone could possibly shed light on why its not mounting we'd be really appreciative.

You need to turn on USB debugging (under Applications>Development). Didn't have to on the G1, but for some reason, this works and is necessary for now on this phone.

You are the ****in man, thanks. **** was really starting to cheese me. I had a feeling it was something dumb.

Yup, that was it, thanks!

Worked for me, though I am getting tired of all this
Worked for me too, but damn. I just bought a Samsung Vibrant from an iPhone 3G. First, I am seeing a bunch of issues with GPS, which are forcing me to root it (which I am ok with) and now it will not mount on OSX. I thought I was a retard, but, turns out, the phone might be too configurable for my tastes.
I am of an experience level to deal with all this, though I think I a reaching an age where I don't have the time to.

My windows is 32bit XP, but try this trick. Say into voice dialer "Open SD card" -> check "Enable USB mass storage". Let's know if it works

Thank you! I can finally access the internal storage now. Do you know if there is a way to get rid of the constant warning in the info bar about being in debugging mode?

Help! I'm stuck in the bootloader and I can't get out!

I'm unlocking a Verizon xv6800 to try and flash a new rom. This is my older phone but I've flashed it before to stock ROMs with no problems. This time, however, something seems to have gone wrong.
I ran the unlocker Olipro 2.40 and when it got to the point where I was to disable the USB, I went into WMDC and unchecked 'USB' connections just like it told me to, only when the application said to hit any key to continue, it told me:
'Cannot open USB port. Please make sure, that USB connection in Activesync is disabled. Also make sure, that your USB cable is properly connected.'
Well, I thought I did disable it. The letters 'USB' are showing up in the grey section of the bootloader screen whenever I plug it in, but somehow it's not connecting or something. Can anyone give me some pointers on how I could get this thing out of the bootloader screen on a Vista machine with WMDC? Thanks!
Ariel
Simple solution is to use XP and not vista to avoid all problems.
Well, of course, but at this point I'm sort of stuck with Vista - you know, like those poor saps that got computers with the Millenium Edition?
I tried something that seems to have snapped it out of it's lock, but I didn't exit - and I was wondering if I could get some more helpful information on how to do this with a Vista computer? Are you saying it's not possible?

Myabe download vmware server, install it, and install winxp into that, share the usb device and try might get you out of it. Its a long way around but it probably would work if done right.

Hmmm... I think it might be easier to try and find an XP machine I could use. So, you are saying that there's not a Vista version of the unlocker Olipro? I've already loaded radios and ROMs using this machine without issue, only unlocking has given me any problem.
Ariel
there is no operating system version of anything ppc. It is just that vista causes so many problems many choice to only flash with xp. Ask ryanmogul I seem to remember him using vista maybe.
Ok, thanks. That is the information I was looking for. It is very comforting to know there is such expertise in this stuff available here. Thank you for replying in so timely a manner.

Air card is it possible

let me first start off by telling you that in no way shape or form am I skilled enough to be a developer nor am I asking the deleloper with the skill to take this on. I have searched a few forum and I really can't find any info about this subject.
I have a siearra wireless card USB598 the service is provided by Sprint, Does anyone know if it would be possible to make this work on the gtab? Or is it even possible to make it work in an android system?
When I plug the card in it powers up and seems to be doing what the card does but like you could guess it does nothing else. I didn't expect it to do anything else but I didn't think it would even power on.
I am not a developer either, but off the top of my head (devs feel free to correct me):
You would need drivers for the AirCard (no idea, but maybe the Linux drivers [if they are made for the card might work])
You would also need some sort of software to have the AirCard connect to the mobile network and to have the GTab use the Aircard as a means of communication

I have an air-card, as well. It's on my list of to do's but it will be tricky at best.
I had a sierra air-card a few years back, and got it to work with Ubuntu using some ppp commands. I figure that would be the most likely route in Android, since it has some *nix similarities, but I haven't gotten very far.
If you look at "dmesg", your card might be loading up. But the problem is actually getting old modems commands to it to get it running. I think.

YES! Sprint Overdrive 4G! WooHoo!
It'd be a lot easier to try one of the 3G/4G-to-local wireless "boxes" available through many wireless providers (I use MyWi on my jailbroken iPhone 3GS though I'm looking into clear.com's service on the go). That way not only your GTablet, but your laptop and other devices can connect to the same connection and even your friends.
The air card is provided by my employer so I'm kind of stuck with it and getting into a myfi device isn't an option.
It's not really a huge issue I can always tether to my phone, It would just be nice to pop in the card and be up and running. The card also has gps built into it and I could see some use in that too.
I think drivers are going to be the biggest issue the MFG only supports MS and MAC, but there are some threads out on the web were people have gotten them to work in ubuntu. Beyond the driver issue there still needs to be some type of dialing software. On a windows box you can use a simple dialing software and dial a #77 and it will connect.
One other thing that this card has the ability to do is NDIS where the card becomes a network card and as soon as it's inserted into a pc it connects automatically but I'm almost 100% sure that it is still software based.
Thanks for the feed back.

For the ZT-180 tablets we got a number of these going as they looked like serial modem interfaces using ppp via the USB (might need to turn off/disable) any builtin diskstore... there sometimes required a build.prop edit to set the tty correct... I'd normally say look over on Slatedroid at our zt180 section as there were a few threads for different 3G dongles but mostly similar instructions... except slatedroid's been bottom up the last 30 or so hours... the zt-180 thread here is HUGE but I suspect you could find most of the same info scattered throughtout there also as maybe a starting point...
Novatel Ovation U727
The Ovation U727 supports Linux in addition to Windows & MAC. Data sheet indicates it has built in GPS-A in addition to 3G. Anyone tried one of these? I might get a used one & give it a try.

USB Drivers Windows 7 x64?

My N1 was working flawlessly adb and all, but I cant seem to get the NS to show up in adb.
Anyone have any luck or even try? Any Ideas?

It's ridiculous isn't it. A new, top end, boundary pushing, first of its kind device requiring USB drivers! Take it back right away!
(We have a 'Thanks' button. How about an 'Idiot' button?)

including a custom modified usb hub (no Y cable needed) with keyboard and mouse.
currently trying to get a usb audio stick to work and some other device which is just for fun, it would need an external screen to make it useble.

you can find it here.
they are a bit harder to make but worth the extra effort as you don't waste any usb ports.
and it looks nicer offcourse.

I'm trying to run v0.3, but getting stuck part way through boot. My kernel is in a panic
Will update when/if I can convince it to keep calm and carry on.
[EDIT] Panic over. Must have been to do with the folder name on the root of the SD card. Did not work with "linux", "ubuntu", or "UBUNTU". But works with "LINUX".[/EDIT]
I was running it before I switched to NAND android. I was really surprised by how responsive it was,i thought it would be more laggy. Can't wait til MAGLDR can boot it

yesterday i updated that page, you can find a link to a step by step guide now.
here it is
talking to the mods for how to handle this on the board, we decided to put the same manual here on the board to give support for the people trying to build them.
but under the android general and QaA section, as this should work there to and on meego and on other models of phones.
links are gone be added to both the ubuntu and meego helpfull links section.
plopper.
Is there a way to load ubuntu from magldr correctly ?

not reported so far.
the only wifi problem seems to be related to channel 12 and 13, so check if 1 of those is in use, if yes, change and try again.

couldnt manage to change channel, "no such device" but 2 days ago i could find wifi network, just couldnt to join it, and now theres nothing. I tryied to find with wicd and by terminal. Always there was response like i dont have anything to join network with.
But now thats my second problem, because i want to use wp7 720p recording (so i dont need to buy mini hd camera but wp7 sucks if i want to "work" on my phone so im trying to find some way to use wp7 and be possible to boot ubuntu. Any ideas of something like this possible? or maybe theres a wp7 bootable just like ubuntu? :> ( dreaming )

Please check your router settings. I had also trouble with the connection to my router. I find out that the MAC adress of the HD2 is different when WIN is on ore Ubuntu is on. After i take the new MAC adress to my Home network everthink works fine.

Potential fix for USB device not recognized

Just wanted to let you guys know that if you have trouble getting your device seen correctly by windows sometimes, you can toggle USB debugging while plugged in to get it to be recognized for mounting. I have only confirmed this on my wife's Intercept so please test it and let me know if it works for you.
-uncut and uncensored from my Samsung Epic 4G
I have done that too and did not give me any better results. I still can not connect. Dont know where to go from here personaly.
It is an ongoing problem with the Intercept. Some people have had success by using the Moment drivers (not really sure if they are any better, or different).
I always seem to have the best luck after a fresh reboot.
