Stupid Q - Fully Charged? - Vibrant General

JUST got my phone. I want to fully charge before playing.
Okay, so apparently you have to press POWER to see the status of the charge. Really wish there were lights for notifications. O well.
This phone is amazing by the way. Not sure if its the Processor or what, but it was pulling 2.1 Mb/s in the store.. my G1 pulled .9 Mb/s right at the same spot.

Personally every phone I've ever had I just plugged it in and charged it and used it. I never did any of that charging and discharing nonsense.
CC just told me to plug it in and wait for it to be fully charged before using it. I'll plug it in and play with it while its charging for the first time. I've always done it and I've never had an issue with of my phones.

That doesnt seem to work for me. Is the phone completely off or is just the screen off?

I at least do one full discharge and recharge before taking it out. The battery had about 80% left so I just played Avatar with full brightness and sound.

Ummm Worried... phone wont turn on...

I was running Fresh 2.0d for about 2 days and everything was working fine.
I was in the middle of testing if bambuser stream app was any good and it just...kind of died.
The battery was at 0% basically but I had it plugged in to the comp. The phone's charge light it turning on but the phone wont power on...
Help?
Don't panic. It is just "shot" as I call it. Needs time to charge and cool down. I would recommend plugging it into a wall charger is possiable. Pull the battery out first though and pop it back in. Then put it on the charger for 15 mins. I promise it will come right back on (I have this problem when tethering for days on end LOL)
Yeah I was hoping I'd get a response like this... cause the charge is functioning... its just not turning on
But yeah it WAS at 0% so its kind of stupid to make a topic like this.
HAHA Well I understand the worries. When this 1st happened to me, My heart sank and I died inside xD. I could have swore that my company busted me tethering or something and turned off my phone LOL I didn't know.
Can't live without tethering
There's actually a warning from HTC out there somewhere that says if your battery is below 15% then you shouldn't try charging via USB. But yea as others said I would get it plugged in to a while and be patient. It'll come back to life.
Lol, this just happened to me today too, was testing out the new aloewishus rom, and while booting it went blank, then just... stayed blank. Took batery out, put back in, it'd vibrate then... blank.. Luckily i had a back up, fully charged batery, popped it in and viola! works again, I was super freaked out for a minute.

Yeah I'll charge and check it out in the morning. Gotta get up in 5 hours...
this happens to me all the time. all you have to do is unplug the cable from the phone, push the power button and plug it back in.

Flipz is correct, and I had this happen to me before, even the car charger wouldn't help, I had to wait until I got home and plug it in the wall charger and *poof* it turned on within five minutes of charging (BTW: when it did boot back up the battery was drained 92%)

USB ports can't put out as much current as the wall charger can, so it will charge MUCH slower via USB. If you're running any power hungry apps, it's entirely possible that USB won't be able to keep up and your battery will go dead even though it's plugged in.
In fact, I've noticed on a couple of CPU intensive games even the wall charger just barely "keeps up" (meaning the battery doesn't drain, but it also doesn't gain any significant charge while I'm playing them).

turn off battery fully charged notification

can it be done...its annoying when it makes the noise and lights up when im asleep
What annoys me more is that it appears to stop charging once it's full. So by the time I wake up and unplug it in the morning, my battery widget tells me I'm only at 95%
thats crappy...but anyone know the answer to my question?
The noise can be disabled by turning off the screen tap noise in settings under Sounds and Display (you'd be surprised at how unnecessary that noise really is - it's a much quieter experience without it - and I daresay even slightly faster, though your brain tends to think the phone is waaay faster with the noise response, as it gives you something to react to instantaneously.) However, the notification will still cause the screen to turn on for a few seconds. No way to change that without root.
Actually, this is a big problem for me..
I changed the setting for when plugged in, so that the screen stays on.. So I kinda use it as a bedside clock..
The beep and the notification are 100% annoying.. It has woken me up in the middle of the night.. I HAVE turned down the sound, but for some reason, the screen tapping noise has returned to full volume on it's own a number of times.
But the WORST part, is that IT DOES STOP CHARGING YOUR PHONE AFTER THE NOTIFICATION COMES UP! I just unplugged my phone after charging all night, getting the FULL CHARGE notice, and it is at 96% (according to Battery Status Pro and Battery Monitor).. Yesterday, it was at 95%. If I charge it and unplug it right after I get the notification, then the phone is 100%. I think I lose a lot of power since I have the screen stay on when plugged... So now that it is done charging, my screen stays on using battery power for an hour or 2 while I am still sleeping (while plugged in). But why does the power still not trickle in even after being fully charged??
This needs to be fixed!!

Are you using the cable or the dock? Curious cause the dock doesn't stop charging the phone when its full. I haven't used the stock cable cause it doesn't really charge the phone at all when plugged into the computer. I killed the phone last night (takes surprisingly long from 6%) and it charged just fine last night. I'm hoping the phone realizes there's more juice than it thinks there is. It was at 0% alone playing youtube videos for like 10 minutes. I finally killed it with a 3d game.

I am using the cable plugged into the AC adapter. I haven't purchase a dock yet.. Waiting for the dock that sits higher up on the desk/table.
Yes, I definitely noticed the same thing.. When the phone gets down to 10%, it can take an hour or 2 to get to 5%... and I can still use the phone and watch videos till it gets to 1%... Basically, as you said, it is not reading the juice right.
As far as the phone not charging once it gets to 100% goes. This is definitely true. It seems that it will stop charging, but once the phone drops to a certain % it will resume charging... I'm not sure why it does this, seems kind of dumb. But you can see it happening on this chart. Look closely at the Charging portion
I don't think the widgets are reading the battery right. I am getting the "battery full" notification when my widget says 94%-97%. I charge it while I am at work so it is right next to me. From 12pm-5pm it was full and did not change from "95%" with the notification light staying blue the entire time.
It doesn't seem so much that the phone is quitting the charge and burning through 5% of the battery overnight.
The phone seems to consider 95%+ full...or the widget is not accurate.
This morning I woke up to the phone at 95% with the blue light.
Unplugged, plugged back in and it continued to charge till 97% then blue light again.
Unplugged, plugged back in and it continued charge for a couple minutes then blue light again.
I love the phone, but I hate this problem... I really hope someone fixes this soon, especially after we get custom ROMs!
Also noticed that the phone says battery full even though the battery widget states 95% or 97%. I have a generic Galaxy S on ATT with the same battery widget, never a problem, always shows 100% upon recharging.
Otherwise, this version seems much faster overall than the generic Galaxy S. Both get decent battery life - approximately a day and a half to almost two days on a charge. Certainly better than the Nexus One.
El Mono
I don't find this an issue at all. I think its rather healthy for the battery to discharge a bit. Its worse to keep it plugged in at 100% all the time.
Sent from my SPH-D700 using Tapatalk
They set it up to discharge on the charger after it hits 100% so it doesn't over charge the battery. My palm pre did the same thing the only difference was they had a gui battery level that read 4% different then the actual battery level for this reason so when it was on charge and said 100% it would cycle down to 95% then back up to 100% while showing 100% battery to you through the phone menu the entire time.
What I think is the most annoying is that the screen stays on. I haven't heard it yet, but I'll wake up and check my phone and I see the notification that the battery is full and the screen is on. I don't know how the life on those super AMOLED screens are, but I'm sure that leaving the display on for hours every night is detrimental.
I turn my phone off at night when I charge. I must sleep heavy because I have not seen or heard what you guys are talking about. I use the AC adapter.

I can't say I've had this problem - the screen shuts off automatically after 10-20 seconds. You might be waking up as soon as the screen pops on?
Also, keep in mind folks, to turn off the sound, under Settings, Sound and Display, disable "Audible Selection", and the noise won't appear again.
A fix like this, I suppose?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=748400
It's a good effort, but reading the thread, a fresh, zero-touchwiz rom might be the only real answer.
I am not sure what I'll do. Plug it in to the wall adapter and cover it up? Easy, but if I do that, the dock is going back to Sprint. I have the travel dock/spare battery, so I could swap in a full battery to get the notification out of the way, but that seems... retarded.
This is really annoying to me.
Charging notification PROBLEM SOLVED !
PROBLEM SOLVED ! NO COST !
I saw this suggestion in another forum and it WORKS, so I'm passing it on !
Set the global notifications to SILENT.
Set the notification on Gmail to any ringtone, NOT DEFAULT.
Set the notification on messaging to any ringtone, NOT DEFAULT.
You'll still have a tone when you 1st plug the phone in to the charger, but NO tone when it's fully charged.
I don't mind the discharge the problem but it discharges too much. I woke up once with the battery full message, hit ok only to see my battery was at 87%. Anyone know if charging ever kicks back in once it discharges down to a certain point? Babysitting your phone charging pattern is kind of counter productive.

[Q] Turn off Omnia 7 when charging

I noticed that the phone turns the moment the charger is connected to it (or if the USB cable is attached from a PC that is on). There doesn't seem to be a way to charge the phone with it switched off.
Do the others notice the same behaviour or is this a problem with my Omnia? Is there a way to disable this?
Yeah I have the same thing you cannot charge it while it is turned off. This is true from all the iPhones I have used aswell. It isn't a fault don't worry about it.
I don't know if it can be disabled but why would you want to out of interest?

Flightmode is your friend
Settings -> Flightmode on
That cuts all wireless connections, you won't receive calls or SMS at night.
Noticed this too, my phone also reboots when I connect it to a charger too - anyone else had that happen?
With some reading i;ve been doing, *only recently started reading up about li-ion bats* seems they might be on to gain optimal charge / long life at the right voltage.
http://batteryuniversity.com/learn/article/charging_lithium_ion_batteries
might be why...
I'm doing more research into it. But another reason i can think of is, When it's on. Boot up time isn't there. Flight mode is. I use it rather than turning a phone off now, saves turning on the other end, i can play a game, watch a video, listen to music on the plane and charge it on a socket ready for the other end.
Yes, i noticed this issue also... as i remember, in a small book that came with my phone there is written you can charge you phone when its switched off - it will charge faster.. but theres not written how never mind, its like that, and thats the way it is...
Oh this would be bad. I charge my phone at nights too, and have it next to my bed. If the screen would be on it would be too bright to sleep with (I'm a very light sleeper). Hmm...

No, the screen won't be on
The screen turns off after a minute or you can press the standby button manually.
It's just that you can't switch off the phone completely when it is connected to a charger.

Maybe it's some kind of power management that the OS is doing therefore it needs to be on.
Battery life is great on WP7 after all.

Nexus 4 Wireless Charging Orb toggle charging problem

Anyone else experience this? Look at the battery meter widget in the upper right corner. It will go from green (not charging) to blue (charging).
When this happens if I unplug the orb and plug that same cable into the phone it charges normally. This is my second orb that has done this.
Nobody?
Sorry, not a single issue with my charging orb.

No issues here either. When looking at your batt icon in the status bar, does that change as well? Or does it continually say charging?

The stock battery icon changes too. It's just easier to spot the widget.
Your phone looks a bit low in the vid. Does the problem happen if you raise the phone up a bit on the orb? And is your N4 have a case or screen protector on the back? Unsure if there is a slippage problem or not.
I do not have the slipping problem and it happens even if I reposition the phone.

Nice! I actually envisioned doing that exact thing!
Right now my phone is sitting there at 87%, says it's charging, yet the battery is going down. It is also very hot to the touch. This is my second orb though. I wonder if the problem is with the phone.
Mine sometimes does this, I will hear it toggling off and on and such. Seems to not work with the bumper on it. Makes it not fully contact.
Mine also does this where it will connect and disconnect in a loop constantly repeating. I think it had to do with how i was placing the phone as it doesnt happen anymore.

Maybe the problem is your phone, not the orb. My orb works like magic, the phone does not heat up and it charges just as fast as when plugged with the cable. Also, I use a quite thick TPU case, without any issue.
Mine has done that before (toggle on and off), but it seems to be okay lately. Only issue is that it gets pretty warm and seems to charge ridiculously slow.

I am having this identical problem. I got both the Nexus 4 and the Orb replaced, and my new ones are doing the same exact thing. Usually turning off the phone and turning it back on fixes it for some reason, temporarily though.
Mine does the same thing. Almost every morning I wake up and it's at 90% or below. No slippage at all. A few times it has been almost dead. Sometimes it charges completely but rarely. Restarts don't really do anything either.
Sent from my Nexus 4 using Tapatalk 2
Apparently not a small issue. Happened to me as well, multiple times, on 2 separate orbs. Waiting for the refund on the first before I send back the second. Wondering at what point they say enough is enough and give me my money back. Battery Monitor Widget screenshots attached. From 5% to 95%, it was in the same place on the charger. No slippage. It is in a case, but it should still be consistent, I would think. The day before, the second screenshot, was abysmal. 30% in 8 hours. It boggles the mind.

[Q] Help understanding a G2 Notification Message

Hey XDA, long time no see!
Just got this phone, and I can say I'm loving every inch of it! (Coming from a Desire HD)
But I have a single question:
When I have the cellphone plugged in the charger, and it reaches 100%, a notification pops up in the notification bar saying something I don't understand.
My cellphone is in another language, but directly translated it says: "Battery is full. Turn off to save energy."
I'm not worried or anything, but I couldn't find anything about it anywhere, and I'm starting to wonder why LG want's me to turn off my phone when it's charged completly!
Thanks in advance!

Once it hits 100% battery, the phone will continue to charge slower than normal in order to keep the phone at 100%. It just means your still using a small amount of electricity to keep the phone charged even though it's already at 100%. I just ignore that message and keep it on the charger.

Ah I see. It's probably just the weird translation that makes me think I have to turn off the phone
Plus the fact that I have never had a phone which told me anything about slow charging, which I knew it would do when it hit 100%
Thanks sir!

Ok.. I turned my phone into english, and now when I get the message, it tells me "unplug to save energy."
Is LG really telling me that the charger can't just by pass the battery when it's charged and that I should unplug it?
I havn't unplugged it when I sleep, so far no problems (no heat either, so the battery is indeed shutting off when charged completly).
Why the hell is LG recommending me to take out the charger at night?
I just swipe that notification away when it comes. I also use plastic grocery bags and leave my appliances plugged in when not in use! I?
