No news for Spain (with UK debranded)

I've a branded phone, and i tried now on mobile with WiFi, it says i've already the latest one :-/ I really hope new firmaware will be available on SEUS, will try when go back home. Battery life is a real issue which should be fixed in new firmaware.

I think he is talking about the R2FB001 (?!?) dont know the exact name. He says it's baseband 1.0.21, I thought the R2FB013 is baseband 1.0.23?

Yep nothing to get excited over - this is the R1FB001. Been out for a while now.

On the 5th of May they said 2 weeks, so it should be avaliable in a day or two (or more ).

when SE blogs said "next couples of weeks" i feel like it will be around mid-june 2010 is the earliest.....

just checked both SEUS and SE PC Companion. nothing.
i have the X10a debranded with generic NA firmware with R1FA014.

Sounds like Rami doesn't have his facts straight.
Too bad because I, like everyone else, am anxious to get my hands on this update.

Well, at the end of the day I won't use the official HTC 2.1 ROM.
I'm very happy with Cronos Droid which gives excellent speed as well as root access, the latter never available with stock ROMs.

Some of the unofficial 2.1 ROMs with newer kernels are getting so good now that for those who root it really matters not. For me SenseHero is spectacular.

So, its June.
Where do we download the official 2.1 from then?

There will be no update to Eclair in June.
HTC will postpone the second OTA update to July, then to August etc.
We've been ****ed with and have to accept it.
HTC has stopped supporting GSM Hero. That is the bitter truth.

+1 for this, we're ****ed up with a support-****y company... but whatever, does any1 have the link with the official (and i mean the real official) News about the Hero which should get the 2.1 Android Update?

I agree with bluesax, there is a lot of negativity to HTC's support - whilst I agree it is crap, we have given them 22hrs (using the international date line...) so far to provide from the start of June. Yes okay, they have messed us around, but it is too soon to start saying that they haven't given it to us yet, so we are obviously being fobbed off.
I trust (don't know why...) that they will give us the update, and hope they will releases patches as time goes on.
But that's just me.....

I heard by a colleague that it was released to Hungary today from an operator.
Can anybody confirm this?

I do think next update will be android 2.1, there is no need for more small updates. And probably it will be released on later september. (Maybe it's just what I want to believe, LOL)

I'm patient. But which firmware are we talking about?, 2.1? I think we won't see that until later september. Or, are you talking of other minor update coming soon?

Ah, Ok, LOL

SE Official statement is that 2.1 will come toward the end of Q3 with a further significant UI enhancement in Q4.. (mainly around TS and MS I believe).

What firm did you have before?

i had R2BA023 india--customized firmware before getting R2BA026 by using reinstall option in SEUS

UK also has 026 update for Generic phone

R2BA026 Italian available on my site.

X10a now updates to 026 as well (up from 023) via SESU and not OTA.

I have a feeling.. SE will skip 2.1 altogether and go straight to 2.2. 1.6 to 2.X took long because it was considered a major version change by google.. and if they had 2.1 code ready.. im sure it will be quicker to update to 2.2. I have a hunch that 2.2 will be released with the X8 on september. Just so to make it like a big major announcement

So this morning, (around 15 min ago), my X10i said that there were an update available. When I want to update it, it says: "You need an computer to update your phone. Read more about this on SE's homepage"?..
I know very little about updates and Android, but could this be 2.1?
Could be nice if someone could give me/us the information

It's unlikely but you there's always a chance. Where are you located and what's your current version? It could just be an earlier update depending on the version installed.

Before your post I was playing with my phone and I was looking for the update button under the settings but its not there anymore and don't know what has happened to it, I just did computer update check and nadda.
Still wondering where is my update button under setting/about but its not there.

I just checked and there's nothing in the UK this morning, phone says my r2ba026 is the latest ..
i thought the official update was due 15th september?

I'd suggest killing the thread otherwise there will be 20 pages of nothing by the time i get home from work - lol

I am with Vodafone UK and still "stuck" with 024. What would be the point updating to 1.6 026, when in 2-3 weeks time we will get 2.1? I think it would be waste of time "developing" 026.

Not necessarily. Japan got an update last week that brought it to R1EA029, which isn't available anywhere else I think. The update for 2.1 in Japan is also scheduled for "October-ish"

You might want it, but chances are you're not going to get it.
The fact that it is registered to PTCRB doesn't mean that
it will be available to SEUS. It's probably a test firmware.

It actually means the firmware is registered final (some kind of) and can be distributed... Just some little bugs etc... they have to fix...

A LOT of firmwares are registered and never released.
The final firmware is the one we'll be getting, and we won't know which one it is,
until we get it.

The article said that the 2.3.4 will be available for the latest Xperia phones (Arc, Play, Neo, Ray, etc) in October 2011.
It's being tested on X10.
So I doubt the X10 will be the first to get it, if at all.

It's kinda weird since Android 3.0 is Honeycomb..

Sony ericsson does not release software with the exact code as android. For example: If our next update should be 2.3.3, than the update on PTCRB will have the form 2.3.3.x.A/B.x. It's just a code. I has to do with the Sony Ericsson software version numbers and not android version numbers (1.6,2.1,2.2,2.3,2.3.3,2.3.4). So it could be another 2.1 update and change maybe only the baseband, or kernel....or it could be the real deal regarding 2.3.3 update. It's just their way of making updates. So someone from XDA said that the update 2.3.3 will have the form on PTCRB like 3.0.1.G.xx. My guess it's the real and official gingerbread update. A few more days to wait.

SE are watching this thread now and just lovin the suspense we have lol.
