Slow Mo video record ?

I've noticed the 800xwhatever video recording afforded in froyo 72 doesn't allow for different size/type of recording, like mms or whatever....
and wondered, if it's possible to simply change a .plist (sorry, i use macs) or something that will allow the options again for say...
720p vs 800 vs 320 vs 240 vs 180-slo-motion-high-framerate
anyone else considered it ? it would be pretty cool to capture @ 60/120/180fps even at lower frame sizes to show action/fails/you-get-the-idea.
I promise I won't use this power for porn. ;-)
so, any ideas ?
Your better off capturing the raw video and doing that stuff in post. If you have an idea learn to impliment it. There is already someone working on 720p and it has settings to change the video size, which is something you wanted to do.
The video will be resized when you send a MMS so I don't think you need to worry about that aspect.
Comming from the Marketing aspect of video/photography it's always best to capture as much as you can, then do other effects after the fact that way you don't limit what you already have.

i getcha ^ right, but the post processing will mean a good deal of swapping between a computer and the phone. 720p is great, if i want an archive to pull from later on, editing bits and pieces etc but that will not work for a mms or email attachement.
or maybe
i've missed something in the froyo version of gallery/camera as mine is currently dropping to an OVERSIZE FILE error for anything that is not selected as 'mms' or whatever sized video before shooting.
currently frf72 only allows shooting in xyz mode, but no post processing, no resizing.
if sizes were selectable before shooting AND frame rates, it might confuse the user, or like you've pointed out give them a very poor quality video when what was expected was something else. i think it's better as you've pointed out, K.I.S.S. and let it be.
guess this thread could be locked/deleted or whatever. idea would add confusion and delay.
It's not a bad idea, just one that doesn't really have a practical use for being on a phone when you can do so much more with a basic computer program.

Quick question about HD Video Capture

Can someone do a video comparrison on the vibrant, between HD video capture to the 16gb built-in ram and HD video capture to, say, a Class 4 Micro SDHC card?
I just want to see if it is consistent, or if the video quality will degrade\appear less with the use of the slower media?
I would greatly appreciate it, if video could be posted to youtube or someone could attach the actual raw footage to a reply on this thread... but if not, at least a comparrison...
I have asked this question, 2 days ago, on another forum, and as of yet, have not received an answer...
One more bump to the top.
I'm uploading two short videos now. Both are shot at 1280x720 resolution. Both links are HD so I would be on a desktop (and I would also pause it at the start to let it fully download before playing). I have to say neither look very impressive. I'm sure others who know more could do better. Also, I saw you posted this thread TWICE, AFTER I decided to help (and in the Development section).
Next time if you do that, don't expect any help.... please do not be that guy.... if you are, just go to another forum.
Internal Memory
SD Card
Yeah...not real impressed by either one but thanks for taking the time!

1000x thanks to you....for doing this for me...
No, the video is not stellar, in the low light... but it does look the same which is awesome...
I do apologize for posting twice... I posted this question on androidcentral's forums... and it sat there for 2 days..
SO I posted it in the developement forum (out of ignorance) and was told that it should be over here... so I responded hoping a mod would move it over here... nothing happened so I posted it in here...
Sorry for the confusion...
I've had pretty good results with an outdoor shoot. I mean its better to catch my 4year old and 11month playing on something that isn't the greatest vs loose catching it at all.

I think HD video from a phone is pretty impressive any day of the week.

Same here. I love that I can even capture HD video footage from my phone, yet alone I think every video I have shot so far looks amazing to me.
I have ZERO complaints. I mean come on, like I said, we are capturing high definition video from our phone....

What exactly is unimpressive about it? What were you expecting? I couldn't see a difference between either; and I thought both were excellent - for a phone! I haven't seen dedicated HD camcorders, but given that they are typically $500+ with hardware dedicated for video shooting, I'd say that this is extremely impressive. But even just as videos I think they are very very good.
Can you provide a link to something that you do find impressive? I'm not being dismissive or facetious, just wanted to know what the standard is. Thanks.
is it jst me or does the inernal memory video look a little brighter then the sd one...sd one looks a little bluer...both look great tho..jst commenting on any differences
^ I've watched both side by side and it could be my monitor not being great, but it was hard to tell much of a difference. I wish I spent a little more effort on those videos, but they work okay i suppose. Perhaps someone else will do more of a color test of sorts....
wow, those look incredible for a cell phone. Keep in mind that 720 is just a resolution, there is much more goes into video than just the resolution. For instance bit rate, and the sensors used to capture the video.

Agree.....
Some people are never satisfied imo....I shot a video of my dads turtle eating on some tomato and I was blown away by the video quality that a PHONE can provide..I will try to upload the video and share with guys.
I can post a link but if your interested in seeing it..pm me

X10a Video ( will update 720p for comparison when its out )

Hello.
I made a video of me racing in F1 2010 on PC. When the 2.1 update comes out, i will record again in 720p and make a small comparison.
Take a look
Ps: At the time of this thread, the video is being processed, so quality will improve a little when its done.
people who don't want to show off their multihead setup would have made a reference video that shows the zoomfunction, some colors, contrast and stuff like this
either way, nice setup
hope it to be way too different

lol, im not showing it off. as i stated.
simply making a simple video now, then when 2.1 is out, i will record the same reply, and them put them side by side
The things is... like with the pictures, default camera app compressing the images too much same will happen with 720p.
If if we will have 720p, the clip will be so compressed (and the frame rate too low anyway) that won't make such a big difference in quality.

720p recording 10/15/20/25/30fps

could anyone fix the Sw of camera for 30fps recording in night? look at samsung galaxxy
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gL06Y4hTvKw
cmon! hey guys
this is probably possible but it isnt a vital issue hence it will not get a fix anytime soon.
you may find that changing settings to auto instead of manual might make it smoother, its not that bad i did a test video and media coder reported it @ 25 fps which is good enough
If you owned SGS before DHD you will be screaming with anger, i know i am, regarding camera quality ...
sorry i meant to say change it from auto to manual, i just realised i had it the other way around in my previous post
well hopfully a previous sgs owner with the knowledge to do it will come along

HTC are renowned for ****ty video recording and pictures, I's surprised you didn't look it up beforehand. It's something that HTC clearly doesn't care about as they aren't doing anything about improving it, it's a shame really.
obv in normal daylight it is ok i can get 30 FPS no problem. after that video is great anyone can extract htc camera .apk and repair it? for example cook some xml config files . i found there fps_layout.xml

Colors and video rendering

Hi All,
I posted in the Vegacomb thread about this issue but didn't got any replies, so I thought to create a seperate post and hoping for some feedback.
I am using Vegacomb 8.1 on my vega clone and I love it. However I have noticed an issue with the color and video rendering in apps and specially videos.
To me the issue is more like when in older generation computers you would choose lower bit color settings and could see lack of smoothness in colors.
I took this screenshot from youtube video which is 720P and as you can see there are color distortions which can be seen easily :
here is the link http://flickr.com/gp/[email protected]/B2026m
Would you please tell me if this is normal or there are settings which can be modified to improve the quality ? Something to do with hardware acceleration?
Many thanks

I've noticed this, gradient look bad in apps too.
My Amiga had better colour depth
I am glad that this is not just me
Does anyone have any ideas what can cause this ? ANd how it can be resolved/improved?
