Themen Swype - not with metamorph - Desire Themes and Apps

Hi all,
I know, this might seems to be another theming Swype thread, however it is more a: how to mod a apk file.
I try to theme Swype, to have a more HTC-like appearance.
I tried to do it with methamorph, but it crashs on the desire.
So I opened the apk file with winrar and replaces most of the keyboard files with the one I created. I repacked them (zip) and renamed it to .apk; Finally signed it.
However, I cannot install it, as I got a parsing error.
Can s.o. please tell me, what is wrong with my method?
Thanks
UPDATE: to be more precise: Install_Pares_Failed_No_Certificates
thats the error message I got, but I have the certificates.. might it be 64bit problem?

[REQ]Opera Skin

Sorry guys, I am complete idiot and managed to accidentaly delete Opera skin file, placed in \Windows\Opera9\skin directory.
So I wanted to humbly ask you if any can upload the file as Opera does not seem to be working without and installing the new beta does not restore the file....
ok - not a problem anymore. already fixed it by installing build 2392 from this thread
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=2837316
it also included the missing theme files...

Editing comments in updater script

I have smoki rom(for example). I'm open it in winRAR, and extract updater-script file. I'm edit comments and save changes. If I copy modified updater script file to smoki rom will it works correctly?
your using windows so you need to edit it in notepad++ otherwise it fails
So, if i use notepad ++ for this all will works?
yes it should

How i can sign the rom(or another update file)? In occasion ask: have I to perform Partitioning HOW TO REVERT BACK TO STOCK when I want to upload the rom other than smoki(rcmagic v4.2 for example)?

help needed modifying ROM pre-flash

i attempted to replace most of the .apks in the system app folder with the same .apks from an ealier version of the rom (because i prefer black to blue/black). i replaced them in the .zip before i flashed it, hoping it would work.. but it didnt.. in the recovery menu it says:
....
verifying update package...
e:wrong digest:
system/app/browser.apk
e:verification failed
browser was one i replaced. how do i make this work? i dont want to use root explorer to manually replace each ****ing thing, and i have no patients for adb. i must need to sign the package or something? i never unpacked anything, just replaced some contents.. thought id be fine..
on a related note there may be more issues to come. unzipped the framework-res.apk to my computer, renamed it .zip, went inside and replaced the battery icons, renamed it back to .apk and replaced the modified file in the rom. who knows what chaos i might have caused there.. if you know what to expect and how to fix it please feel free to help!
if it matters at all, the rom im modifying and flashing is nonsensikal 9.5 black/blue, the system apps came from version 8.2 black, and battery icon .pngs came from 5.4 black.
Id try and resign the whole rom after you make your changes it should be just fine
you cannot simply replace the apks in the zip, then flash. after replacing, use one of the following methods:
if you use linux, use EasySign (http://android.grdlock.net/index.php?&direction=0&order=&directory=HTC Droid Eris/Extras) or the Android Kitchen (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=633246).
if using Windows:
Use AutoSign (http://androidforums.com/developer-101/8665-how-signing-roms.html).
Thanks. I'll get on the computer and give it a shot.

if you've unzipped the framework-res.apk then none of this will work anyway. You need to pull the images out of the old framework-res.apk and drag and drop them back into the new framework-res.apk without unzipping it. You shouldn't even need to rename it to zip. Just open it with a program like 7zip without unzipping and drop the png's in the correct folders. Then you can put the .apk back in the rom and resign from the links directed above.
Oh it all worked fine. I never unzipped framework, just extracted it from the Rom and renamed it, then replaced files, renamed back to apk, and replaced in original .zip. it worked great.
To achieve full 9.5 black I have to copy all of the previous versions (black) framework .pngs to the new Rom though.
I think the file is like, drawable-mpdi or something. Not landscape or non. I don't really know.. not in right frame of mind

[Q] UOT Kitchen

Hey guys,
I might be barking up the wrong tree here, but I was hoping someone could help out a bit with using UOT Kitchen on a HTC Legend, running CM7 RC2.
I've run through the UOT Kitchen wizard without any issues (extracted and uploaded framework-res.apk and SystemUI.apk fine), and got a valid zip to apply the patch.
When applying though, I get the below error. This happens regardless of whether I try to apply via ROM Manager, or via Recovery.
-- Installing: SDCARD.UOT-ZC-xx-xx-xx-xx-x.zip
Finding update package...
Opening update package...
Installing update...
E:Error in /sdcard/UOT-ZC-xx-xx-xx-xx-x.zip
(Status 0)
Installation aborted.
I'm a relative newbie to much of this (but would like to think I'm sensible enough to do research before I ask stupid questions). I have heard UOT is primary designed for the Desire from some posts, however other posts have suggested its worked on their Legend without issues - so I'm not 100% sure that there's compatibility for my device or ROM.
So where am I going wrong here? Is this compatibility issue with the Legend, or with CM7, or just a user error?
Any help GREATLY appreciated!
both files that are required for uploading to UOT are odexed (ie, they come with odex file counterparts, which i've no idea whatsoever except that they're like extensions of the apk that came along w/ it) on cm7. merging altered apk's (ones in zip cooked and DL'd from UOT) with their original odex file counterparts (ones on your phone when you flashed cm7) are a no-no, from what i've read. so no dice, unless you can de-odex the whole rom...
I have the same problem, but my phone is LG P500 with Megatron ROM. I tried to get Sense - like notification bar, icons and new battery indicator. I'll be glad if someone will help me to solve this.

Ah, I was under the impression that CM7 was already deodexed. Apparently not.
I'll do some research and see if I can find a way to deodex the ROM. Cheers.
regarding to this problem, i'm curiouse if the CM 7 stable release has been de-odeoxed.
CM /system is odexed
Yeah, I found that out shortly after creating this thread. For the sake of future questions/searches, heres how I got UOT working:
Ended up getting it sorted by deodexing using xUltimate, then pushing the deodexed apk and jar files to my phone using adb.
Additionally, update-binary needs to be pulled out of the CM zip and copied into the cooked UOT zip (theres instructions for this on UOT's pickup page). UOT can then be flashed using recovery/ROM manager.

What apk is it?
Some .apk's just will not install. I had an apk that compiled 1MB smaller, without change. Its not a perfect system.
Name is not important, but original file size is 1,376 MB
and compiled file size now is 1,372 MB
Where is 4KB?
Well I only asked the name incase it was one I myself had issues with or someone else had.
Now I just think you're doing something suspicious by answering.like that
4KB not as bad as 1MB. But you're still losing size which will be why it won't install.
Can't help any more than that I'm afraid. Except to say I have seen the issue before and never resolved it

I tried more apk without sucess..beacause I dont tell a name.
Actual apk is BeoGSP-6.apk and there I lost 18KB...
I dont understand this compiler!?
Is there any another compiler with more working chance?
Can I export resource to Eclipse and make apk from here?
There is also APK manager. its pretty similar as far as I can tell.
There's APK Manager or APK Multi Tool which I use and both do the job quite well. I need APK Multi to decompile ICS or newer APK's and I use APK Manager 4.9 to decompile the APK's from the oxygen ROM.
If it decompiles and recompiles without errors then the only thing you might need to do is sign the APK. It won't install if it's a non-system APK and you haven't signed it.
APK Manager 4.9 option 16 signs the APK's so I just use that and if there're no errors it will sign and install fine.
Thanx! Works with APK Manager. This is a great thing!
I signed apk and now work
