Has anyone experienced an issue in the HTC Messages app where you tap a message thread, and the green highlight suddenly jumps to another thread entirely and opens that? I've been experiencing this issue more and more lately and it's getting quite frustrating. I'm not really interested in switching apps...tried Handcent and didn't really like it. Stock app is reliable and functional. Curious if there's a way to alleviate this.
Yes...mine has been starting to do that aswell. Not sure what the cause it...but I never experienced it until a week or two ago. I almost sent a text to the wrong person and it would have been very, very bad.
happens to me to
i have the same issue. it also happens when i have to click and hold for deleting and calling that person. also before the update with scrolling through the thread of messages it would spazz to the bottom before i could do anything
Happens to me more often than not. I'm constantly catching myself about to send texts to the wrong people.
this isn't the same issue but i couldn't type at all. I'd click the box to reply to a message and the keyboard would pop up (i use swype) but i couldn't do anything. then i switched back to the regular keyboard and when i started to type a search box popped up at the top and started typing there, ignoring the already open text input box. I had to type my message in the search box then copy and paste it into the message box. Force closing the app then redoing it worked fine.
some thing screwy with this app...

if you're using a task killer, make sure that swype is on the ignore list, or it could get killed, and then needs to be restarted for it to show up (I believe).
I'm also having the issues with the touch jumping. It's usually from the second person from the top, jumping down to the second to bottom in the stock msging app

I am having a issue with responding to text on my mogul. When I go to respond, the respond box at the bottom is so low, after 4 or 5 words I can't see what I'm typing. See the picture I posted. Anyone know how to fix this?
Happens to me too, I think its a WM6.1 bug, I just close messages and come back and it works.. sometimes opening the keyboard and closing it does the trick too..
I also tried that, but it never works for me. Reply field stays the same.
I've had the exact same thing happen. I've found you can fix it if you close out of the message, close and reopen the keyboard, then open the message again.
Whenever I tap on a message to reply, i cant simply tap to insert text, if i do it take away the cursor and highlights the last message in black. Or, I open then message and have to wait a few seconds for the last msg to be highlighted in black, then enter my text.
Any way to fix this?
Thanks.
I'm not sure whats happening with this bug, but I had this happen on 2 HD2s that I've had so far. It happens with both Swype and the regular HTC keyboard. Sometimes, I'll just be tryping, and all of a sudden, the screen will jump, and highlight a previous message (turn black) and then I have to tap the lower part of the current SMS message to get it refocued back again. Very unusual bug and I hope there is a fix for it.
I can start typing, but as you said it jumpes back. Then I must scroll down again.
It's the crappy HTCMessaging app. It has never been properly sorted since the HD2 came to be. Just do what i did and install a ROM that doesn't have that utterly ****e app on and you'll never look back

Do you know of a ROM for the T-Mobile USA HD2 that doesnt have HTC messaging?
Or is there a way to remove it from my current ROM?
Same thing happens to me today, I start typing, it jumps to the previous message and highlights it in black. Ugh, annoying!
same here
have the same bug and my HTC is becoming very slow..even when there is no application running in the background..have to soft reset atleast once a day..so much for the snapdragon and RAM
Same problem as I have - it's very annoying. Running the 1.66 SEA ROM, with Swype installed - although the problem began before I installed Swype. I find what actually happens is that the phone registers the keypresses, and if you tap on the write message area, those keys you've tapped appear. I believe I read somewhere else on the forum about this problem, but couldn't find the thread. Any suggestions for alternates to HTC Messaging?
Hopefully this hasn't been noted already. I use the stock messaging widget and click on it to quick-view my new texts, then hit reply to enter the "quick-text" which pre-fills in the recipient.
The problem I'm having is that when I use Swype as the input method in this box, it seems to lag and sometimes puts spaces in the wrong places, or punctuation before a word (as opposed to after). It appears that what's happening is that I'll 'swype' a word, it will bring up the selection list, and I'll hit a period. Normally this would insert the first-selected word and then a period, but in the quick-text, it appears to enter the period before auto-selecting the word from the list. This also happens where it will type the first letter of a word, put a space, then the rest of the word combined with the following word. For example "how a reyou" shows up often. The overall response time of using Swype as input for this seems slow and laggy.
I'm just curious if anyone else has encountered this or if there's a fix.
I think I've seen a screenshot of someone's phone trying to type in Skype in the stock Moto messaging widget and having a ton of gibberish in the input box, so I don't think it's just your phone.
I guess I'm kinda glad about that. Hopefully they fix it. I've just been trying to avoid using it, but it's so convenient.
When I first started using swype I was having all kinds of spaces and lag. Now that I'm running launcher pro everything is running smooth and I haven't had any lag problems. I also messed with some of the settings for swype.

Hey guys, getting some strange issues with my address bar on my phone.
Its only started recently and I can't work out what I've changed or pinpoint when it happened. All I have done is rooted the phone and removed some of the bloat (all of which on the safe list)
When I go into a browser or have to enter text into a text box I press the text box to try to enter text. If the box already has text in it, it used to select all the text so I can type over it/copy it etc. Now it seems to select all the text, then puts my cursor where I pressed, as if I double clicked.
Has anyone else had this issue? Or know what has caused it/how to fix it.
The second issue I'm having with the opera mobile browser. When I start to type an address it auto completes - gives me options of the ending (.co.uk/.com/.net etc) But it automatically completes the address with the top result.
Is this just me or is it a common issue? Is there a way to stop this?
Thanks in advance
Was just having a quick play around ans it seems its something to do with swype keyboard...can't work out how to fix it, any ideas at all?
As far as i noticed this happens if you have to manually add something into your keyboards wordDB.. just tap anywhere and back to the line you were and it should not bug.

I like almost everything about the stock email app. One thing that really bugs me is a word correction bug for the keyboard, Swype.
Typically with Swype when you see a word that's wrong, you tap it, it becomes highlighted, and a list of suggestions pops up for replacements. If none of the suggested words are correct, you swype it again and it replaces the highlighted word.
However in the email app, the word is not replaced, but another word is inserted wherever the cursor is. Then if you tap elsewhere, you get a word inserted wherever you tapped. So to edit text, you have to manually move the cursor to the end of the word you want to replace, delete it, then re-type or re-swype it.
Anyone else bugged by this? It doesn't happen anywhere else.
for me this happens not only in email, it happens in messages too! as i see it it's some sort of bug which occurs after a while of usage. after a reboot it works again as it should (highlights the selected word, replaces it with the choosen one)...

Interesting. I never use Messages (I use Handcent instead) so I've never seen it there. The bug isn't erratic for me; it never works properly in Email.
Edit: Actually I just tested my stock messaging app and I don't have the bug there.
BTW, this bug has persisted from stock whatever was on the phone back at the beginning of November when I unboxed it through now, with LA4 on it.
