Just for fun: Video - My HD2 loading and running Android 2.1... - HD2 General

I took this for a friend and thought I'd share...
My 4 day old HTC HD2 loading and running Android 2.1 (rough). I think the song choice (and timing) is awesome. lol
Sorry for a little shake in the vid, I didn't have a tripod handy and had to hand hold the P&S camera...

the video is not even of a hd2...ok that's better ...i think this is going to be a great android phone...

lol I love how people keep saying not to expect a stable android rom ported over to the hd2 for a year... The way the devs are working and making progress it seems like in months we will have a stable rom.
Yes we could look over the history and see that it has taken years to port android to winmo devices and yes they still aren't 100% stable but then again none of those older winmo devices were the hd2 nor did they have all the internals this bad boy has. There is a reason why they are advancing so fast.
It's called will and power (power meaning the phone )

i cant wait until there is a fully stable version of android on winmo lol

have you checked how much RAM is available after android system is running ?
Is that the original Android 2.1 or is modified ?

when is this coming out?

Go to the link I post earlier in this thread. Download the zip file and extract it to the root of your SDcard. Go into file explorer and run HARET. Press run and let it do its thing, enjoy android. Now its not a fully working port yet for day to day use.

(THINKTANK)MIUI Port for the HD2 (9/22/2010)

Hey all. I'm new to the HD2 but not to android. I'm sure you've all seen the MIUI rom for desire and nexus. (if you haven't go here - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Or-9T44Bt7M&feature=player_embedded
To clarify :"It appears that the ROM has been mostly custom built using only the base from Android 2.2 and then building an exceptional interface on top that could beat anything else that currently exists.
From full FM radio support to completely customizable home screens, dedicated buttons on the lock screen that take you to the SMS app and the phone dialer."
Since its fore the desire/nexus, It should be an easy port to the HD2, I just need halp
I'm sure most of us would love to see this implemented on the HD2. I thought I could do it myself, but I've tried and failed. Below are two links. One for the full rom and the other is a link to the system.ext2 image I made from the /system folder of the ROM. I've tried a couple of different kernel combinations and still can't get it to boot (replaced the system.ext2 in shubcraft with the one I made and it just reboots). I don't yet know enough about android on the hd2 to get this working myself. So I figured I'd start a thread and see where we can get.

Seems like the hd2 has quite the community following. I'm looking forward to working with you guys
UPDATE: 9-24-2010 : We do have a working test build that is being given out to a few folks. No ETA on a alpha or beta release. Hopefully this weekend. I'm tonight and tomorrow so I'll squeeze in some android time when I can. SARCASTILLO (guy who made hyperdroid) gets the credit for getting this thing booting. To see what we have in action go here http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J7x_6cuHM8g
Hey there biff, did you finally trade in the slide for an HD2? If so, im glad to see you over here now.
P.S. The music in the video makes me want to run up a big flight of stairs and air punch at the top.
i love the idea of "endles" possibilities when it comes to UI for a single phone and i hope you are succesful in porting this for HD2, but i HAVE to say
iOS UI on Android? YUCK *puke*

Nice to hear that ! We always lack people like you, however the few Hd2 build developers have magic hands.
Maybe you already know that, but I suggest you to contact them directly for this great project because Hd2 is a very popular phone, so this forum is 99.9% populated by end-users. At the begining kernel developers tried to work into xda forums, but deserted for the Htc-linux Irc because of noise.
This would be so awesome!!!! DEVS, plz plz plz look at this !!
personally i'd love to see this ported! would be something... different!
I'm looking forward to it too. Looks interesting.

Anyway, to the OP, this is great. try to contact DarkSt0ne, Mattc, Dan1j3l. they could help. or, on twitter, contact the htc_linux guys. Hope you can make it and if you base it on the new Desire HD Rom, and include some other languages like japanese, your rom will be one of the greatest. Thank you and good luck

Finaly Windows Phone 7 ported on HTC HD2 [ Video ]!!!

We always knew this day would come, some guys at xda.cn has managed to get WP7 up and running on a HTC HD2. The HD2 which was the only capacitive screen Windows Mobile device was expected to get an unofficial port of WP7. This does not look like the release build of Windows Phone 7 ( Xbox Live tile has a green background in the release build of WP7 ) . In the video you can see that the OS runs quite smoothly on the HD2, and they shows the various hubs like picture and games. The hardware keys have been mapped to mimic the Home and Back buttons, Search was not shown in the video, doesn’t necessarily mean its not there. They also demo the multi-touch pinch to zoom in the picture hub.
It looks nice and all and is a nice hacking feat but do you honestly want to run WP7 on the HD2 or get one of the new WP7 device ?
look the video at pocketnow:

This is indeed a great day to be an HD2 owner.
For the obvious question: when can I get my hands on it?
(Answer does probably have something to do with patience )
I saw that just a bit ago on twitter. Looks very promising. I wouldn't mind being able to boot wp7 just for the netflix streaming!

Its because Windows phone 7 needs a licence. You cannot access a few bits (one of them is marketplace ) without activating the OS

I think that may be correct. The ROM's must be big on those devices as they are meant to have more than 512 NAND storage. Hopefully they implement what HTC did in some and use the microSD as extra storage on them

i don't know, but energy's new extreme ROM has the same problem. Might have to do with the size of the port. My ROM is 400mb and that confuses the phone and it said on boot I only was using 56mb of storage.

After seeing the video I'm not convinced, still hasn't changed my opinion that WP7 looks pants and isn't that exciting at all. Won't be in a rush to have this on my phone as doesn't have anything on Android that I'm running now.

Hmmm you may be right at this point in time but it's very early days so perhaps it's best to wait and see .
I'm more than happy with WM 6.5.X at the moment after having Android for nearly a year came back to WM mainly due to HD2 but also for the OS . Old or not there's not as much wrong with it as the "expert press" were trying to make me believe but then most of them love IOs which says all I need to know .

Yup, found it.
we hope that will get stable and usable soon.
I wait so long of a new version from ubuntu ore a useable version from meego
Having Stable OSes like Android and Windows, its less likely that Ubuntu and MeeGo will make up for the daily-use ROMs. The number of developers who spend time on Android are much much more compared to the MeeGo and Ubuntu, and moreover the latter are just a port, all the features may or may not end up working.

Yes! All things works but I can't find any reasons to use WP7. Definitely it is a big change from wm6.5, but the change is become more worst! Just played with it for ~30 minutes and flash back to Android! Of course, having wp7 on HD2 is great to show off, but not for daily use.

Switched back to Android. I like WP7 because it runs so smooth compared to Android. Camera software is so worse, i don't like it, but 720p recording works like a charm (don't know why this feature doesn't work on Android)
I find Green button assigned to the camera a little weird to use (is more handy to assign the phone software).
Anyways, it looks promising but i'll stick to Android until something good about WP7 will show up.
Many thanks to Cotulla and all the devs for making this happend!
camera is very ugly on WP7 :-D
