[Help] Expo keyboard problem, hardware or software problem? - eXpo GW820, GW825 IQ General

Hi all, I've just received the LG eXpo and it's new, original packaging. However, when I slide out the keyboard and start typing on it, I found some problem. When I press key "a" - it indicates "aj", "u" - indicates "ud" and some other keys. I thought that maybe it's a registry problem, how can I fix it, need your helps, thanks!

Sounds like a hardware problem. I'm no expert, but I had an old keyboard that started doing that after a while and had to be replaced. Maybe contact LG or the place you bought it from and see what they recommend.

Software or Hardware problem?

Ok, so I just bought a Hermes that was listed with "software problems". It seems to have a mind of its own. It scrolls on its own or clicks in and out of options when I try to run programs or settings. Anyways, I've downgraded and upgraded with no luck.
Then, I notice that some of the soft keys are stuck. For example, I can't press "down", "endcall" and the "left selection key". Is that whats causing the phone to act weird or is it a software problem? If it's hardware, I would I go about fixing it?
sounds like a damaged digitiser i would look for spare parts as it can be exchanged without changing the whole lcd
not sure who sell it and if they ship it to where you live
i would look at expansys or google
maybe here

I'm curious, if its not a hardware problem, what could the problem be?
i say i suspect hardware as many people in the trinity forum had issues just like it
parts of the screen being "pressured" at all times and that was hardware issues
Ok, so I made a video of the problems I was having. So maybe this can confirm or not that this is a hardware problem. I'm second guessing the hardware problem because the touch screen *seems* to be working fine. And the soft keys are not actually stuck, they just don't press as well as the others. I won't even touch the screen and just scroll with the dpad and I get the same problems. Anyways, I'm a noob to the Hermes so I may not know what I'm talking about . Here is the video clip:

Can somebody, anybody please take a look at my video and see if the problems are indeed hardware or something else?

[Q] Keyboard on my HTC Touch Pro

Hi,
I've got a problem with my HTC Touch Pro... Last column of keys on HW keyboard (except enter) doesn't work... Do you think it is possible to be caused by some software trouble?? In the other case is it possible to repair it without help of service? I'm using EnergyROM WM 6.5.
thanks for reply
Hi,
most probable it's a hardware problem. Normally, after a couple of years, frequently used keys tend to become unresponsive or at least need a heavy push to work.
You can find a brand new keyboard + tools on ebay.
Sounds like it is a break in one of the lines in the ribbon cable connecting the keyboard to the mainboard. The reason the 'Enter' key still works is because it uses two contacts the other being in the adjacent line. On a Touch Pro it is twice the width of the other keys. Either contact will be decoded by the keyboard controller as 'Enter'.
You might be able to source just the cable on its own, if it has a connector at both ends, otherwise it will be a replacement keyboard.

[Q] [Issue] Hardware keymap changes with soft keyboard

I've got a UK TF101 with the UK keyboard dock. I've noticed that when I use a soft keyboard other than the Asus one my " and @ keys are swapped on the hardware keyboard (looks like it's setting US localization) no matter what localization I have the keyboard set to. With the Asus soft keyboard enabled, the hardware keyboard works correctly.
This is kinda annoying. It's annoying enough to have the TF complain that I should use the Asus soft keyboard whenever I dock the device but this is just plain irritating.
Anyone else with this problem?
If you're a UK owner with the dock, do me a favor and select the stock Honeycomb soft keyboard, then try and type " or @ with the dock keyboard.
exactly the same problem as me. Damn annoying! Can anyone help?
I solve mine by changing from UK localization to US localization...

[Q] [14 SEP] Hard key Feedback after fall

Hello everybody, just a quick question.
I have fallen over my HD2 while rollerskating, and despite being in a protective case, apparently it has received some damage.
The back hard key, doesn't provide any feedback when pressed (it still works, but there's no travel of the key, neither a feeling of being pressed).
So if anyone has an idea - is this fixable somehow, or I'll have to go for a whole new keypad?

It seems it affected your hardware Back-key which is together with the rest of your bottom hardware buttons: anyway I suggest to leave it that way (if everything else it's OK) because repairing it by changing the whole row of buttons ( practically a flexibile ribbon) implies disassembling the entire device even the combo (lcd+touchscreen) from the chassis (an action rather for professionals!).
Good luck!

DVP Physical Keyboard Issues

The following keys on my sliding keyboard do not work: spacebar, a, m, r, etc.
The keys that don't work have the same feel as those that do. I think it could be a software issue and not hardware.
Anyone else have this problem, or the solution?
Thanks, Emmott

Haven't had any problems like this. As far as I know, there aren't any keyboard settings apart from language (which I think is mainly for the on-screen keyboard) and strange that the spacebar isn't working.
Sounds like you might have a faulty device. May be worth contacting Dell or your retailer to exchange your device.
