Its a small world after all..... how ya been?

Not sure this will be the same as OKC but I saw in the sprint forums OKC was scheduled first of 2011, but Best Buy says it probably be this fall and in some places in Oklahoma 4g is being tested... i would take that with a grain of salt though.

I've heard that they are setting up the infrastructure and testing it. I'd imagine it would be sometime 2011. Again, just hearsay though.

I used to work at the sprint call center in okc that has 4g tech support (i know y have 4g tech in a place that has no 4g) they told us okc will get it in the spring where the call center is on nw expressway and council there is a 4g tower next in but they won't turn it on

As far as Tulsa goes, I turned on 4g yesterday on my epic and was able to pick up a weak signal around 7st and memorial. I guess Sprint is in the testing phase right now

I connected at 71st and Mingo. It took some scanning but I finally connected with 2 bars.

Do you think maybe the store at 71 across from the QT between Memorial and Mingo may have a small 4G tower to show it off, and you are picking that up? Or do you think they have actually started turning it on in Tulsa.

No, I called my buddy at that store and asked if 4g was officially here, he said no but it is in testing phase. I also asked of they have a 4g airave installed and he said that they did not. So welcome to beta wimax in tulsa.

Well I'm at 71 a Yale, but on a CM 6.2 with no 4g. I guess I will try out the the 4G version of it tonight.
Will post later on what I get at 71 and Yale.

My Sprint store said that Fort Smith Arkansas would see it around the end of 2011. We are way smaller than Tulsa so I would say before then?

Sprint 4g in Tulsa
There is a Sprint 4g tower on in downtown Tulsa. Signal is weak but the speed is great. Can't wait for more towers to be activated.

I connected to 4G in Stillwater tonight so it has to be real soon

Pics or it didnt happen? I got some screenies,
I was sitting at Haruno Sushi Bar at a booth inside by the Sushi Bar. On a side note they have the best Sushi in town
I was fluxing between 0-2 bars.

Speed Test.

4G is soo FAIL
LOL about 1/8th of what I've gotten on Tmobile in the same areas on my Nexus One. But I'd still rather have Sprint because Tmobile bounces between Edge, 1G, 3G, and HSPA nonstop, without your phone ever moving. Nothing like waiting for HSPA to kick in while your waiting for a simple weather widget to refresh. I'll be curious to see what Sprint does when its finally rolled out here but I am not hopeful it will be anykind of useful. At least with Sprint I can turn the nonsense off and they are a little faster than Cricket.

Dear T-Mobile,
Come visit us in south florida, the oil hasn't hit the coast yet, it's till sunny and beautiful. The only thing missing if your delicious speed. We are still struggling with measly .5mbps/.3mbps speed.
Here's my AT&T Nexus One, same speeds, ran the test 4 times in a row. Los Angeles, CA server.

Nice! -- Yeah... It'll be nice to see what sort of "real world" scenarios of devices that have 21 Mbps HSPA+ compatible radios in them. The 7.2 Mbps max on the Nexus One on the TMO version really hampers it from taking full advantage.

Here is Rogers Canada.
Los Angeles please...home of the NBA Championship team Lakers.
Glad it finally came to Seattle! Too bad I'm about 20 miles south of Seattle and it doesn't reach my area.
Sorry, but Nexus One, doesn't support HSPA+.
Here's Portland Oregon. Decent ... good speeds just need a better signal
Sorry, but Nexus One doesn't support HSPA+! (http://www.google.com/phone/static/en_US-nexusone_tech_specs.html)
Nexus One is "just" HSPA=HSDPA+HSUPA (7.2Mbps & 2Mbps).
HSPA gives up to 14.4Mbps DL and 5.7Mbps UL.
With HSPA+ you can reach up to 56Mbps (with MIMO and 64QAM).
AT&T might be upgrading their IP backhaul and backbone...
I've reached 4.7Mbps and 1.3Mbps in Movistar Chile.

Wow, I live just North (Delaware) and my Uncle is the head of the Communications (Cell phone contracts included) division for Metler-Toledo. I just shot an email off to him asking for some inside info on the rumor that 4G is coming from their building. I'll post back when I get a response from him. Not sure why he didn't tell me before now if they are, he knows I have the evo, he's played with the darned thing!
Sweet. My dad and stepmom stay at a campground in Galena during the summer and I drive down every other weekend. Guess I'll have to head over to Polaris and try it out. Probably won't get a signal at the campground.

Ok, he got back to me. The Metler-Toledo building definitely does have 4G coming from it. It is not hosted by them though. This was his email to me verbatim.
"Yes, but not us. On the roof, another company in the building has placed stuff."
So we know for a fact at least that the origin is said building!
lol what's the chanced of it reaching me SLIM AND NONE ! lol
Hay my uncle lives in Columbus will that grant me 4G coverage? J/K anyway getting closer to Y-Town!

Reselling WiMAX/promises of 4G

For the past two weeks, a startup company called OpenRange.net has been spamming my snail mailbox with postcards advertising their wireless service. It turns out that OpenRange is reselling Clear 4G WiMAX.
My home is not yet served by the Clear WiMAX network, though OpenRange claim sthat WiMAX will be in my area shortly.
Do they know something, or are they just flapping at the mouth in hopes of scoring a customer?
Is there some sort of listing or other informational posting that says when Clear will be adding WiMAX to existing towers?

OK maybe I should have been more specific. My general area already has WiMAX coverage, but the coverage limit is shown on the map as about a mile south of my home.
I live in Lititz, a suburb in northern Lancaster County. On the 2nd floor of my house in a very specific location, I can actually pick up the WiMAX signal from towers located south of me. I've edited my WiMAX settings to be lenient with SNR for connections and such in order to obtain that very, very weak signal (-95 dBm if I'm lucky).
That said, OpenRange has been soliciting my business now for two weeks, claiming that 4G is coming to my area. Either this is one stupid company stupidly spending money on sending me and my neighbors advertisements when they know we can't get a usable WiMAX signal in our neighborhood, or they know when Clear is adding WiMAX to my local tower.
I actually received a promotional email from sprint. In the email they told me that 4G was now in my town of Bethpage, Ny. I flash a 4g rom and nothing! I called sprint and told them about the email from them that I got saying it was available. The rep on the phone was very nice. He told me very soon. I asked if there was a ETA, and he just kept repeating VERY soon (there was alot of emphysis on VERY LoL). Later on I found out to check on clear.com Sure enough it comes up in my town, but when I put in my address nada!
Im from Harrisburg as well and I have 4G in my house.
I don't see anything in Lititz, but that may change later in the year. Currently though they are spamming you.

Anyones Sprint service down around areas in los angeles?

All day pretty much near my area where I'm currently staying over at friends in Los angeles county the service has been down for voice and text.. and i mean down literally no calls at all or text. Data is extremely slow or down as well.
Anyone else having this issue? I thought I'd post you guys here to see answers =) maybe sprint is upgrading towers around here for LTE testing to come soon? I'm not sure.. zip code 90255 and 90001.
Mine is down in the Chicago area. Three weeks now of:
1) Many dropped calls
2) Texts won't come through until you make a phone call (lots of voicemail calls lately)
3) Clock off by an hour for no reason, then switches randomly back to the correct time.
Sprint store said the towers are being worked on. I'm hoping LTE too!

They have begun work on network vision here in the LA market (including those zips you listed). Only a handful of sites have been completed so far but more will be coming soon. I do not believe it would cause any long term outages though as the sites are normally taken off line (if necessary) at a time when there's the least impact on the users.

same thing here, I was with sprint for over 10 years, I got fed up with the fake promises of this amazing 4g network they are building etc.
They finally got 4g here in Tucson, but they having problems with some spectrum that penetrates through buildings because of how close the border to mexico is, so we have half way decent 4g outdoors but no signal at all indoors.
And they are saying they will not be allowed to use that where I live for years to come, so its pretty worthless to be on sprint.
Here is my speedtest in Cusco, Peru. So far I done about 1.5gb of roaming on the free data.

Please read the thread. We're sharing data info for overseas. This is for "unlimited international data".
This thread is pointless. You can connect to whatever network is available (3G, 4G... maybe even LTE) but it WILL cap your speeds to what you're seeing unless you pay for high speed data passes.
This is the same speed I got in Malaysia and Singapore. Its good for email and Whatsapp and GPS. Not good for youtube. Its better than nothing! Long live T-mobile and thank you!
