[REF] HowTo Install a Custom ROM on Liquid - Liquid S100 Android Development

New(bie) here ?
You just have received your liquid, and would like to install a custom rom, but don't know where to begin ? This is for you.
(Note : Mostly inspired from the LCR's wiki page : http://code.google.com/p/acer-liqui...cker/wiki/HowToRootAndFlashLiquidCommunityROM)
Tools Needed :
- Acer Liquid drivers : http://www.megaupload.com/?d=E5PTHL3O
- Acer Flash Tool : http://www.megaupload.com/?d=EF2QNANO
- SuperBoot : http://acer-liquid-community-rom-bugtracker.googlecode.com/files/Superboot.zip
Extract all in separates folders.
1. Install an official BIN
The first thing to do, is to get the latest official 2.1 bin for Liquid. Well, it's not really official as they are leaked bin for the moment, and not yet available on the Acer's website.
Acer_LiquidE_1.100.05_EMEA_GEN1 --> European Version.
Alternatives mirrors : LCR's wiki page
Acer_LiquidE_1.100.15_AAP_FET --> Only contain English + Asiat langs.
Once your bin downloaded :
1) Unpack the drivers.
If you have a 32-Bit version of Windows, go to the folder x86, if you have a 64-Bit version, go to the x64 folder.
Then run the setup.exe and follow the instructions.
2) Unpack the Acer A1 Tool.

}
Important : under windows Vista / 7 : choose Windows XP compatibility mode and "run as administrator"
Run the ACER Download Tool. Click "Browse" and select the downloaded ACER_LiquidE...bin. Attach your Acer Liquid and press Start. It should start flashing the stock Éclair image.
Don't interrupt this process!! In case of communication error during flash process. You can unplug and replug usb, don't power off the phone.
You now have a standard 2.1 rom. But, even if you just want to run the stock rom without a custom rom beside, you should install a recovery software, in case of problems.
A custom recovery is program software which will help you install customs roms, root your roms, backup and restore a rom, etc... This is the start point to custom Liquid rom.
2. Install a Custom Recovery Image
1.) To do this, go here : http://code.google.com/p/acer-liquid-malez-recovery/ and download malezRecovery_0.5.3.img (or newer version if there is one off course).
2.) Put this image in your extracted Superboot folder, delete the old recovery.img in it, and rename malezRecovery_0.5.3.img to recovery.img
3.) Enable USB Debug in your phone --> Settings --> Applications --> USB Debug.
4.) Run install-recovery-windows.bat to install the recovery.
You should see something like this : sending 'recovery' (4876 KB)... OKAY writing 'recovery'... OKAY
5. After the flash, your phone should reboot.
6. To enter the recovery, use reboot-recovery.bat
To know more information about it,go to the malezRecovery project page.
3. Install a Custom ROM
1. To install a custom rom, just download the zip file, put it on your sd, then reboot on recovery (You can download QuickBoot from the market to reboot in recovery easily, but your rom have to be rooted).
2. Chosse Wipe Data (This will do a factory reset, please backup before if you need it).
3. Navigate to "flash/test menu" / "apply any .zip from SD" and push the menu key, and then choose the ROM and press menu again. Press home to start flashing
4. Wait for the installation to finish.
5. Reboot
6. You're done

please help my.am. I followed all the steps to install-recovery-windows.dupa I did that, could not turn on the phone, nor can it bring en recovery mode

Thanks alot
it really helped......

Thx.. it's very usefully..

Dont understand this part, the reboot to recovery.bat or reboot-recovery-windows.bat (in Superboot folder) wont let me in the recovery mode to browse for the zip file in the SD card, actually those files wont execute
There is nothing like "Wipe Data" as you said

Ok that's fine now, I need to move the newest img file to superboot folder instead of using the exe tool provided here
http://code.google.com/p/acer-liqui...tail?name=installMalezRecovery_0.5.4_FULL.exe

OK, so from now on everytime I want to install a custom ROM, the first thing I need to do is flashing the OFFICIAL Acer Rom again and then following step 2 and 3?

No, from now you can just flash the .zip without reflashing the bin each time.
Some roms are based on a certain BIN version, so it's better to flash the bin they advise to get the rom working as it should.
If you already have the bin version advised, you don't need to flash the bin again, maybe a "Wipe data" before flashing the new zip is all needed

yes, but now I can not access the Recovery mode anymore, when I double click the reboot-recovery-windows.bat (superboot) or reboot to recovery.bat (Malez), the phone restarts with Acer logo and then a black screen, sometimes Acer logo without back-light, and I have to remove the battery to restart again

Go to the Market and download an app called Quickboot. It allows you to reboot into Recovery without a computer.
If that does not work:
-Make sure there is no file named "update.zip" on your SD Card
-Remove and replace battery
-Hold down Power+Volume Down+Camera. Phone should vibrate 3-4 times
-Hold down Power+Camera
-Phone will reboot into Recovery

I have the same sort of problem. Rooted with recovery and installed a new ROM but then in reboot i get the splash page but then just a black screen. Tried a couple of ROM's but all the same result?
Just really want to get my CUS2 Donut version up to eclair....
Please help!
[update]
Ok, so i finally understand what went wrong. The acer support section wasn't that clear for me. Now just grabbed the 2.1 CUS2 bin from the liquid e section and that solved the problem! Now running eclair with Malez Recovery and ready for some custom ROM's
[update 2]
So i also found out that i can forget the CUS2 bin story. That's only when using official acer updates. With the ACER Download Tool [Single] i've now managed to install the leaked alpha version of froyo!

htc desire user.......
Hi
I m htc desire user n my friend is buying liquid e ferrari edition but he want me to get sense rom on it he doesnt like d stock acer eclair rom,
So is it possible to install cooked SENSE roms on this phone ??

Perka´s And flip360´s Clean Install Guide And Package.
Warning!
If you do not follow the guide exactly you might brick your phone!
This guide is only for Samsung Galaxy S GT-I9000
If you do not know what 3 button combo or recovery is, read this please.
If you have Captivate Here you have a guide.
We are not responsible for bricking anybody’s phone!
If it happens we will try to help you, but remember we are doing this for free!
You do not have to do all Sections, please read what each Section is for.
IMPORTANT! – You need to read the guide before doing it, and use the files provided.

Section A If you have 2.1, 2.2, 2.2.1
Section B is for flashing stock 2.1, to get a fresh clean install.
Section C is for flashing our update.zip from 2:e recovery (It is a renamed Kitchen Rom) Log here.
Section D Another way to get to Kitchen Rom from stock 2.1 with 2e recovery, does not work with Stock Froyo 2.2 or 2.2.1.
Section E is a guide to Magical Rom Kitchen.
Section F is a How to CWM update.zip guide, (to get CWM, only works in 2e recovery 2.1 Eclair)

Before you begin with the flashing process, make sure that you:
Samsung drivers installed on your computer.
Have backups.(When you restore your backups, DO NOT restore system settings.)
Do not have any lag fix applied.(If you are going to flash stock with pit, no need to disable lag fix)
Phone battery is fully charged.
You don´t have Kies running.
We strongly urge you to read through the whole guide first before attempting any of this,
and sticking to our reference, here is the files that you will need before attempting to flash your Samsung Galaxy S GT-I9000.

Download Section.
Odin v 1.3

For Section E
Cook your favourite Kitchen Rom in Magical ROM Kitchen
For Section F
ClockWorkMode update.zip

Preparations
To begin with, download and extract all these files mentioned above to a convenient location, preferably on your desktop. Once you have all the files in place, launch Odin as administrator. On your device end, make sure that you have disabled any lag fix, if applied earlier.
Ensure that the drivers for your SGS are installed on your computer.
If you have Kies already installed on your machine, the drivers are already in place. If Kies is running shut it down.
Power off your phone.
Put your Galaxy S in download mode by pressing and holding the Volume Down + Home + Power keys at the same time.
You will see a yellow symbol and the words ‘Downloading’ once the phone has gone into download mode. That’s it, we’re ready to begin the flashing sequence.

Section A
Before flashing the Speedmod Kernel, put your Kitchen Rom on your internal sd card.
Flashing a Speedmod Kernel Guide here.
When flashing on 2.1, you get stuck on GT-screen, dont worry its normal, just pull battery and enter recovery.
Now go to Section E

Section B
Flashing stock firmware
Make sure you don´t have Kies running, and your phone is off, do not connect it now.
1.Start Odin
2.In PIT, load the 512.PIT file.
3.For PDA, select the CODE file.
4.For PHONE, select the MODEM file.
5.For CSC select the CSC file.
6.Make sure that the Re-partition box is checked.
7.Put your phone in download mode. (Volume down + power button + home button )
8.Connect your phone to your PC via the USB cable. It will install the drivers, or if they are already installed, you will see ‘Added’ in Odin’s message box . A COM port will also become visible.
9.Again make sure that all the selections in Odin’s interface are correct. Press the Start button when verified.
The flashing sequence will begin, and you will see several messages in Odin. Make sure that the phone does not disconnect during this time, as it may brick your device permanently. Once the flashing sequence has completed, Odin will give a ‘Completed’ message in the Message box, and a green PASS will appear on top.
Your device will automatically reboot at this point.
Congratulations! You have successfully completed stage one of the process, and now you’re running the XWJM8 or JM9 2.1 Éclair firmware.
Section A is useful if you just want to revert back to factory stock 2.1 (warranty, repairs, etc.)
Now you can do Section A ,D or F

Section C
Flashing the update.zip, this is used if you have problems installing your Kitchen Rom
Copy the update.zip (it is a renamed Kitchen Rom Log) to your Internal Sd card.
Shut off the phone and reboot to recovery (Volume UP + Home + Power) and do a FACTORY RESET.
Then choose Install update.zip from the recovery, let it install and reboot. When the phone has booted, shut the phone off and enter recovery (Volume UP + Home + Power) and then choose Install update.zip from the recovery, let it install and reboot.
It´s not a typo you need to do it twice.
All done! Now you have a basic Kitchen Rom containing CWM and all you need to flash a custom ROM.
If you want to stay with this Rom, you can enter the Magical ROM Kitchen and make a update.zip with the apps you want to add, and flash it in cwm. If you want to uninstall something you can do it with Titanium.
Now you can go to Section E

Section D
Another way to get to Kitchen Rom from stock 2.1 with 2e recovery, does not work with Stock Froyo 2.2 or 2.2.1.
When you have the apps and the Kernel needed for this Section,
1.Install the apps.
2.Cook your Kitchen Rom and put it on your internal sd card. (see section E how to do that)
3.If you did not download the kernel with your phone,(qr codes in post 2) put it on your internal sd card.
4.Root with Z4Root.
5.Flash the Speedmod Kernel with Sgs Kernel Flasher (only v1.5.9 or newer)(Atm you will get stuck on GT screen due to mismatch between kernel/firmware versions if you try normal booting)
6.Enter recovery
7.Factory reset
8.Install zip from sd card
9.Choose zip from sd card
10.Install the Kitchen Rom
11.Reboot

Section E
Flashing a Kitchen Rom if/when you have clockworkmode
Here you have a app guide made by marcedli Xda
And here you have a nice Kitchen walk-trough with screens: Link.
This is the steps you need to do.
1.Place Kitchen Rom on internal sd card
2.Enter recovery
3.Factory reset (if you install new base Rom OR the previous Rom had a voodoo kernel AND you want to wipe)
4.Install zip from sd card
5.Choose zip from sd card
6.Install the Kitchen Rom
7.Reboot

Section F
How to get CWM with CWM update.zip (only works in 2e recovery 2.1 Eclair)
1.Place your Kitchen Rom on your internal sd card, that you generated in the Kitchen
2.Place the CWM update.zip on your internal sd card that you downloaded from download Section
3.Power down your phone and enter recovery (Volume up + power button + home button )
4.Choose apply sdcard:update.zip, now you will end up in recovery again, so choose apply sdcard:update.zip and you will have CWM.
5. Now go to Section E step nr 3.

gday.. just to clarify...does this suggest therefore to flash back to jm8 2.1 prior to flashing to a Doc Rom??
i have asked this in another post, but say for example you are already running another ROM that comes with all the bells & whistles (eg cwm, optional lagfix, root, sgs tools themes etc)..
would the user need to go back to jm8?
cheers

If you have problems flashing, use this guide, if you already have cwm recovery and can flash custom roms you dont need to do this guide.
thanks for confirming.!
Can this be used to flash all modded CWM ROMs? I think so. You can check & modify the topic accordingly.

Updated enjoy.
Sorry, but to quote DocRambone's words:
"Wrong Section to post".
Edit: Thread reported.
Nice guide, thanks!
Is it also valid if you want to upgrade from an older Froyo rom like Doc 6.0 ?
If you start directly from stage 2 beeing on a stock rom, you have recovery 3e which won't let you flash unsigned packages (like the renamed DocRom "update.zip".
Or as I missing something ?

In Docs own installation guide he stated to install a clean JP9 base before, do the usual CWM install through update.zip etc ..

If you are on a Doc rom do stage 3.
2.1 has 2:e recovery so it can flash unsigned zips.
Does not work if you have 3e recovery.
Doc advised to install a clean JM9 base rom before upgrading to a romkitchen rom.
But in stage 3 you wrote to just install the kitchen rom from CWM. Regardless what DocRom was in use before ?

IF you are sure you have the v8 bootloader installed, you should be able to install a recovery.
You must have an ICS rom installed, or on the Ext SD card, have an ICS rom ready to flash.
If you currently have a stock ICS rom installed, then you need to be rooted, and delete the "boot recovery" file (or similar name). Or else when you boot your tab, the custom recovery gets overwritten.
You can look at Civato's Bootloader and Recovery guide for the exact name of the file.
Note that v8 bootloader and ICS recoveries, DO NOT work well with HC based roms. You must have an ICS Rom.

1) the robot is the 'stock recovery.img'
2) you must be rooted before you can flash 'anything'
3) The only way to do this (on HC) is by installing a custom pre-rooted rom
4) If you want ICS your tab should update itself, you will need acer enhancement app from the market. then Settings>About Tablet>System Update
5) you can install a stock or custom ICS rom BUT you must have root to update to the patched bootloader which some of the custom roms require.
6) you cannot "open" recovery.img.
Ok, so please stop posting the same issue in other threads, or you will never get your problem solved.
Now. You say you have Skirlax_cz's V8 bootloader installed. Correct? If so, you should be able to boot into the menu system of it (vol+ and PWR). If you get the bootloader menu, good.
Now, you will need the Android SDK (google it and download and install it). After installation, go to c:\windows\program files (x86)\android\android-sdk\platform-tools. Open a command window here. (it may be installed in program files)
Boot your tablet like I described above, and at the bootloader menu, select "fastboot". The tablet should say fastboot mode.
Now, copy your recovery.img (or whatever you named it) into the platform tools folder on your PC. It has to be in the same folder as fastboot.exe
Now, make sure you have the rom you want to install on your EXT SD Card.
Next, plug in your tab to the USB (I always make sure in device manager that the tab is recognized as a fastboot device)
In the command window you opened earlier, type in the following;
fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
Remember, if your recovery image is named "public-recovery.img" for example, that is what you should type in the command above.
Once the recovery is successfully flashed, then turn tab off.
Unplug from USB
Hold PWR and Vol- untill you see the message "booting recovery kernel", then release both. You should boot into the custom recovery now. Then you can do your wipes and stuff as per the rom install instructions.
Of course, this is ONLY if you have the V8 bootloader running.
Also, I posted a better rom. Evil Alex Unleashed, so you should install this. It has problems fixed.

OK MD, thanks for your guide.. now I have installed your ROM successfully, it's running very smooth. Thanks very much and sorry for double posts

Wow! It worked!!!!!!!!!!!!
Damn, better than I thought.
Gotta love Skirlax_CZ and putting flashboot in the bootloader v8. Throw a thanks at him when you get the chance please. And if you used EZTerry's public recovery, please throw a thanks at him also. And anybody else who helps you. That's how it works here.
I hope you installed Evil Alex. She's much better than Alex V. Alex V is a good girl, but she need the wakelock app from the market. Evil Alex hopefully does not. After all, these are Acer leaks. AKA "beta". So we really don't know what to expect. And things "will" change in the next month, and new builds "will" be released.
Am glad you got it running.
And Dibbs, throw a thanks to him also His instructions were after all, correct (he didn't know your V8 was working).
Any issues, please put them in my rom thread.

[SOLVED][HELP] Wrong rooting went down to boot fail (Pics and Video)

First of all I want to tell everybody I work as a WebDeveloper and designer. Last year I had rooted and changed my rom on HTC HD2 (to know i am not a newbie to this area) not a big deal. Me and my brother decided we can root our ACER ICONIA A500 because we.. just wanted it, but I guess we mess it up hard. Here is what we have done:
1.Find a SD card - Format it to FAT32 - Upload the GingerBreak.apk - USB Debugging (ON) - Original thread - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1055354 - DIDNT WORKED
2.Format the SD card for second time on FAT32 and run the files on PC from this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1546593 (ofcourse following all steps one-by-one) - and guess what -> IT DIDND WORKED
So we tought rooting for this device wont work, we have to try something else and I uploaded "update.zip" (this ZIP was from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1633907 ) into my formatted SD card and run the tablet with Power btn and Vol- it started to load it everythig seemed OK till it restarted by itself and showed me this VIDEO
So where I am now?

The ONLY way to get root with full system RW, is to go to this thread;
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1622425
There are several ways to do this (unlocked bootloader and CWM) You HAVE to do the bootloader, and you HAVE to install a CWM. And you HAVE to install a pre-rooted rom. The thread offers different methods to do this via an application run from PC.
Root, is just allowing access to view the hidden system files. Most root apps, demand to do writes to the /system. Example, is SU. It does remounts so it can install SU binaries. Just having the Superuser app doesn't mean anything without /system RW. And the only way you get that, is by running an insecure kernel. And the only way you get an insecure kernel on ICS/JB, is via CWM. And of course the only way all this works, is via unlocked bootloader.
That's why we have the package in that link.
You "might" get by with doing the bootloader and CWM. Afterwards, Flash one of the kernels in the dev section (just look), then install SU and Busy Box from the market. This might probably keep your current rom intact. Or, just install a custom rom.
Ok. I think I unlocked my bootloader successfully. But I find it difficult to actually Install CWM recovery! I know that i have to have root before installing CWM recovery actually, am I right?
These are videos from what happens when I launch the tablet on normally and with vol + & -

tinypic.com/player.php?v=2cy41fq&s=5 - Vol-
tinypic.com/player.php?v=2s82zdj&s=5 - Vol+
Question: What is full system RW ?
I even dont know how to flash a kernel.
It may be hard, but I will keep trying till its done.

Can't see anything from yr links for some reason BUT to clarify.
No you are not right!
If you want root to install a recovery, it doesn't work like that with the acer, you must unlock the bootloader.
The unlocked bootloader AND custom recovery are 1 package - if the flash is successful you will already have cwm.
The link Moscow provided you with gives you everything you need.
Which ever method you choose (manual nvflash or auto tools) you must follow each step to the letter!!!
Run the bootloader package again.
Choose yr recovery.
Flash.
Boot DIRECTLY to recovery.
Wipe data/media and cache
Flash yr rom
Reboot.
Done.
If you really only want r/w access use blackthund3r's ICSRoot tool...in the link Moscow posted.
Also if you are on stock rom be sure to read that post regsrding boot.p file.
All of this information is in that post, please take some time to read thru it so u know exactly what is involved. ...if u need further help there are guides in my sig as well.

Hello. Thanks for this guide. However since I am not much into android I got one question. Will rooting my phone delete all the data I have on it? I set up my phone, installed all the programs and so on but I'd like to have rooted device cause I got used to use some apps on my previous rooted phone.
So:
Following this guide will erase everything or no(make it as factory reset)?
Thanks for reading and moreover thanks for your answer. Best wishes.

You can skip erase cache dalvic and just click reset. Everything will be as it was. The phone will have a ROOT, everything should work as expected.
Thanks. I will update you tomorrow with results.
Just so you know: "wipe cache/dalvik" does NOT do a factory reset and will not delete your apps/messages/whatever. There is a separate option in TWRP to do a factory reset (aka "full wipe").
Wipe cache/dalvik should always be safe to do, without any data loss. After you wipe cache/dalvik the next reboot will take long and you will see the "Android is updating ... Optimizing app x of y" screen. Other than that, there are no bad side effects to wipe cache/dalvik. On the contrary: it can sometimes solve problems if you have random random crashes or "app has stopped working" popups.

My mistake, I installed the root after changing the rom on a clean system.
The day after I made wipe again, but that from the menu and there is added whipe date, did not pay attention to it.
It turns out that doing wipe cache/dalvik is safe.
Thanks. Regards

The same thing happened to me on my Windows 8.1 after 31.5.16 OTA. Because on the other laptop I have Windows Vista I installed the drivers there and there did the last update.
For now, I did not have time to delve into my Win8.1, tried different drivers without success.
Write if you solve the problem.

Elephone changed something in the preloader, after flash with version from ROM 2016.03.15 (I use a second PC with Win Vista) everything works again on my Win8.
However, probably after the next OTA preloader again be changed. So I think that this is a temporary solution.

Try flash recovery from the last ROM. Write if it works, good luck.
If you're trying to flash the entire rom it should work but flashing OTA's to an older firmware version sometimes errors out as the firmware doesn't have the correct base... I.E. - you're missing essential services and files from the other OTA's missed .

No matter what i do its still giving me error 7 in LEX727

Hello All
Its a never used LEX 727. Decided to flash a custom rom. Installed latest TWRP, but when i go to flash the rom got error 7.
Tried with diffrent roms but still error 7.
Then updated firmware to 30S by @codeworkx from here and again tried different roms but am still getting the error.
Following the suggestions given by various posters, I have tried doing full wipes, rebooting to recovery, using the ALL IN ONE tool but nothing is working.
I've also tried many older versions of TWRP as well as roms but nothing, the error is still there.
Any more suggestions on how to fix this? Thank you.
This is a typical error when TWRP is old or does not fit the model.
First, stay at 20s firmware:

Make sure you have the latest TWRP installed for the X727:

Important:

Hello @Neppomuk_
Thanks.
1- I installed the 20S firmware
2- Installed the latest TWRP version 3.6.2_9-0-zl1 , and, rebooted to recovery.
3- Downloaded both the latest official LOS as well as the unofficial one by the poster whose link you have posted above. First tried installing the official rom and it gave error 1. Then tried flashing the unofficial one and same error. i.e.: "E1001: failed to update system image", Error 1.
4- I also tried installing the Mokee rom and it is also giving the same error. I downloaded the rom from their official site here
4- I am attaching screenshots of the errors. The first one is from the lineage "unoffical" after the "offical" had failed to install. The second one is from the failed Mokee rom.

Actually i have had that error before while experimenting, so i'm afraid there has been no progress.
Are you asking to flash the stock boot image? And then what? Will appreciate if you outline the steps.
@Neppomuk_
1- Extracted stock boot image from the file you provided. Flashed it to boot successfully. Rebooted to recovery.
2- Went through the process of flashing the rom again. Still error 1.
OK, the E1001 from your screenshots is interesting. System image is (marked as) encrypted.
Do Following from twrp, all steps without reboot:
wipe/advanced wipe, tick 'Dalvilk/Art', 'Cache', 'Data' and 'System'
then go wipe/format data, confirm with yes, now the encryptiono (state) should be gone.
Now reboot straight back into recovery and flash the, this was mokee rom?, again.

Did it. Still error 1.
The first picture is LOS. The second one is Mokee.
Let's try following:
In TWRP go to Advanced, select File Manager, select the System folder from the list and the push the checkmark on the bottom right corner. No push the chmod 755 button the give full access to system partition.
Try to install custom rom.
A second try:
Go to wipe / Advanced wipe
select the system partition
now select 'repair or change file system' and then 'repair file system'.
Try to install custom rom.
I had problems with the 2nd try on some devices they do not allow repair of system partition.
Did the 1st option. Still error 1.
Did the 2nd option and the process was aborted or failed with error 4.
Did the 1st option. Still error 1.
Did the 2nd option and the process was aborted or failed with error 4.
Did you had any problem to flash TWRP on the device earlier?
With error 4 we have a second option:
In TWRP go to Wipe / Advance Wipe, select 'System' partition and select 'Repair or Change File System'.
Select 'Change File System', select EXT2 and proceed.
Then do the same to go back to EXT4.
Do the same with the Data partition.
Now, you have to transfer the custom rom to your phone again. But do it in bootloader mode this time.
OK, something special:
The LineageOS ROM has it's own boot.img inside. You can use this one as well, flash it in bootloader.

Do partial flash in bootloader mode, if not already happen, use Minimal ADB and Fastboot:

Command to flash boot image in console:
fastboot flash boot [boot.img]
Then stay in bootloader mode. The mobild should mount a drive to the system. Copy the ROM imge to the internal storage on that drive. You can copy the rom in TWRP mode also. Then install the rom throug TWRP.
I never sideloaded data. I like to check the transfer is successfully finished. I had some faulty sd cards, wich do no give an error while sideloading stuff.
As an alternative you can use an OTG USb Stick and putt the stuff on this one. Would do the same and could be faster.
If you need drivers for Windows:

The Google USB Driver is required to perform adb debugging on Windows with Google devices.

-> I did not verify if this driver downloads are still valid, please check them first.
I do have the latest drivers and ADB installed. Everything i have been telling you has been done via ADB as well as from the internal storage of the phone.

I think understand you now. Do a partial flash using boot loader and the do the rest using TWRP.
Thank you for clarifying. One needs confirmation so we do not do anything we aren't supposed to.
Sorry, I mixed up another case where I'm tring to remove forced data encryption.
There are flashable boot.img in zip files wich you can flash from TWRP, but this is not your one.
I still believe, that something is wrong with your boot partition.
The whole procedure:
- Extract boot.img from Lineagos and install it in bootloader mode: fastboot flash boot [boot.img]
- Boot into TWRP while holding Power and volume up.
- If not done, wipe cache and system, format data.
- Copy LineageOS to the drive / internal storage
- Use TWRP to install the rom

Did as suggested. Still error 1.
I have another question while we continue to look at this. If worse comes to worse i've no choice but to use EUI. Is it possible to patch the latest android security patches to it? That is, rom will be EUI , but updated with all security patches?
