no paid apps - vodafone UK - Galaxy S I9000 General

hadnt really checked before, as all the paid apps I had installed on G1 showed up in downloads but if I click on games, or apps it only shows 'top Free apps' and 'Just in' and no 'top paid apps'
just wondering if anyone else on vodafone UK has had this issue

I get a 'top paid apps' tab on my marketplace and I'm on vodafone

Actually just checked and when I click the 'top paid' tab nothing loads! how strange hmm

All working fine for me, with Beautiful Widgets at £1.49 at the top of the list.

Mine doesn't even load with wifi.

Paid for apps appearing here as well.

Its weird I can see paid for apps on the home screen, there is just no tab for them when I browse, maybe it will fix itself

[bug] Downloaded apps disappear from market after hard reset

Hello,
I did a settings reset and at reboot my phone automatically installed 3 apps (handy backup, sms backup and space war) Is that normal?
Then I went in the market and found that only those apps where listed in "My Downloads". Why?
Regards
Isn't Android Market just wonderfull? The whole thing is just a big ugly fat bug atm. Searching is crap. Categories is crap. Us Europeans can't buy paid apps. And Market doesn't save what stuff we have downloaded and installed in the past.
Yeah, I have been on that exactly same road as you have. I had to do a hardware reset and at first it seemed that Market actually remembered what stuff I had downloaded in the past so I went and installed Google Maps. It went all well until I was gonna install everything else from the Market. My whole world fell apart when I discovered that Market no longer showed ANY apps I had previously installed. I was like "WTF Google, your piece of crap sucks"...
So yeah... Google HAS to do something about it RIGHT NOW!!!
And btw... it isn't just you who think the Market is a mess
I've not had any problems with the market.

I'm European (yes, we in the UK are still Europeans! ) and I can buy paid apps from the market. I know that the same is not true for all countries in Europe, but the reason for this is the work required to set up payment support for each region individually (see http://www.talkandroid.com/526-android-market-paid-apps-2009/), but it does seem pretty poor to me that this can't be done far quicker! I suspect that this issue is less to do with the market, and more to do with Google Checkout.

Market certainly saves what stuff I've installed and purchased in "My downloads". I do wonder if the issue you are having because you did a hard reset without uninstalling those applications first. Perhaps the market just thinks you still have them on your phone, but if that was the case I'd expect to still see them in "My Downloads".
Search is definitely poor and there is insufficient granularity (IMHO) in the categories.

Dave
According to the Market help http://market.android.com/support/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=138294, paid apps are only available to the following European regions:
Austria
France
Germany
Italy
Netherlands
Spain
United Kingdom

After the hard reset I DID see what apps I had previously installed before the reset. So I thought "thank God" and tried to reinstall Google Maps. It went perfectly untill I went back to "My Downloads". The list was suddenly EMPTY. NADA. ZIP. ZILCH. NULL. Needless to say I then thought "FU Google"... I simply thought that by having a GMail account I automatically had a Market account too...
I do know that the Market really do remember the paid apps (what a relief for those lucky enough to be living the the right region of the world).

Market Issues?

Just bought my Fascinate a couple days ago. This phone is sick, but my Market is spazzing out. When I signed into my Gmail account my apps didn't automatically restore like they're supposed to. I also only have tabs for Free and Just In, nothing for Paid and overall everything on it (the Market) runs very slow. I tried a factory reset to no avail, so I'm a little lost now...any ideas?
I believe the auto restore feature is a 2.2 feature. The other tabs you're used to seeing might be from 2.2 as well. We're running 2.1.
I actually had the same issue on mine while my wifes was fine. I just basically done a battery pull and when it came back up it was fine.
No, I know it's not because it's android 2.1. I had the droid before the fascinate which had 2.1 and it definitely had a tab for paid apps. That's not normal no matter what version of android it is. There's also the fact that it runs extremely slow that I can't figure out. It literally can take up to a minute to open an app page. =P
Run wifi while on market there has been some hiccups on vzw network the last few days and while in the market hit menu and then downloads. That will show all of ur paid apps
they call me...kick ass

I've been at work the past couple of days and we've got a WiFi connection that I use w/ my phone. It doesn't make a difference afaik. And I know my paid apps show up in my Downloads, but what I'm saying is if you go into Market, and pick an app category, there are only buttons for Top Free and Just In. There is nothing for Top Paid.
I had the same problem with mine when I had it. Just download one of your already purchased paid apps and it will fix the market issue

Didn't work. =[
Interesting twist, though. I reset my phone again and signed into a different Gmail account that doesn't have all my apps on it including purchased ones and it worked perfectly. Anyone have any idea why that may be, or would i be better off consulting Google on that one?

Full GOOGLE Market now online!!! :-) (https://market.android.com/)

Hello all,
The FULL Market is now online! Just open up your browser on your tablet and go to https://market.android.com/ (don't forget the s in https) Then sign in and you'll be able to download and install any app from the Market! (I have done several searches for apps that usually don't show up and they were all there!)
While on a PC, you can't download to the PC, but you can browse the Market on the PC and click install and some how Google finds your tablet and installs it.
Tesla
Edit: I just noticed it does a compatibility check, so maybe not all apps. I believe you have to have the Market installed on your tablet.
yeah its pretty good. although it has a rather striking simularity to Appbrain. I hope that google bought into their product and integrated it rather than pretty much rip it off.

But what is nice about Google's is that almost all the apps are downloadable.. even the ones that don't show up in the Market app. With AppBrain and AndroidZoom, if the app didn't show up in the Market app, then it wouldn't download.
It looks the same as the Google Market App.. I don't think they ripped it off.. unless the new Market was based on AppBrain??
Where does it download the apk to? I tried installing an app via the web Market in Dolphin HD. The downloading symbol appeared in the notification bar for a few seconds, then disappeared, and that's it. Nothing else, and can't find a downloaded apk anywhere... It did a compatibility check before downloading, and my archos came up in the list of devices I could install to...
@fisha21
After you have found downloading symbol then open Market app. It will install app for you.

D'OH! And thank you
has anyone else noticed that the google market website has suddenly stopped listing their archos even though it listed it previously?
It still shows my HTC Desire when I go to my market account in the top right and click on the settings tab, but no longer lists my archos 101? (I am logged into the archos using the same google account).
it used to list it but with some details missing from certain fields.
I have gappsforarchos v4 Market installed, and the archos is rooted with archangel v2, (I have tried 'market enabler' but it made no difference.)
I dont know if its relevant, but I re-did the market fix (where you delete the market cache etc) the other day, maybe this effected it?
My Archos 101 showed up last night and I just checked now and its still there.
Don't know what you did!

Yes I've had my device show up one day and disappear after the market fix.
did you ever manage to get it to show again?

It showed after the market did an automatic update. But when I fixed the market again that was needed after the upgrade it disappeared again.
I managed to get it back when I did an uninstall upgraded version in the apps management.
Anyway I hate the market website it can't even show what apps are installed it will show apps that where installed even when they where removed afterwards. I rather use appsbrain that site seems to be stable and you can manage your own devices/lists.
My online market was able to see my A70 up until this morning when i installed the new firmware. I did the market fix 5 times, but it doesn't seem to be working. And now I can't even install from the web market.
Anyone know a solution. Is there a new market fix that works better?
Umm I know it's recommended to actually go to the new market site (including the "s") but is there a .apk for it instead?? I'm just asking if anyone knows of a new .apk for it cuz for me it would be simpler.
Side question: Is this "new" Full Google Market site the newly updated gApps V5 or is it more like a new V6? I have aApps V5 and all of a sudden I noticed a few days ago the whole look of the Google Market when I click on my Market Apps icon was a little different. The area near the search bar at the top changed from all green and white-to all gray with a different font. This new look of the Google Marketplace is what I see when I click on my Market App icon, not the website.

Bugs? Empty Market & Application Manager + CNN Widget Slowdown

A couple of things happened last night. Anyone else experience these?
I went into the market and was presented with a grid of 16 apps, and that's it. I can click on the apps and install them, but searching revealed no more apps nor could I get to the main app market home page or menu.
I attempted to close the market app under settings, applications, manage applications, running services.
The problem? It was empty too. So was the list of installed applications. According to Android, I had nothing installed.
Rebooting fixed this issue, but I don't know what caused it.
Second interesting thing. One of the first apps I installed was the CNN app with the widget. I thought it was a pretty neat widget to have on the home screen. Over the next few days I noticed lag. Keyboard lag, browser lag, app drawer, etc. Just about everywhere. Last night I removed the CNN widget and guess what, lag vanished. I don't know if it's the widget or just a coincidence but thought I would share.

I have had some weirdness with the CNN widget. For no apparent reason, it would disappear from my screen but would really still be there, just invisible because I could not add another widget in that spot. Rebooting corrected it the few times it has happened. I noticed they released an update today (or yesterday) so I installed it and hopefully that will take care of it.
Same problem here. I even tried to remove the invisible CNN widget but couldn't. Restarting the Xoom seems to fix it but hate to keep doing that all the time it disappears on me. Needs to be fixed soon

Paid apps suddenly appeared.

Hi, I'm in Nigeria using the MTN network. My market doesn't show paid apps by default. I had to use market enabler, to get paid apps. And even at that, the apps would not download until I used WiFi, and there was no paid apps tab.
Then this afternoon, I go into the market and see top paid and top free, and tried downloading an app, and it worked, any explanation.
PS. I hope it's here to stay.
Sent from my rooted, JITed, X10, using my fingers, my eyes, one of my brain's four cores (Take that tegra 2), and Oh, the XDA app.
Google made some update http://www.gsmarena.com/android_market_gets_a_major_facelift-news-2637.php
Thanks man, just saw that in GSM Arena, but thanks. I like google's new found aggression.
