I'm Jumping on the Droid X Bandwagon - EVO 4G General

After dealing with Sprint terrible dead zones in my community and getting tired of their stupid Airave micro range, I'm moving to Verizon when their Droid X comes out july 15.
It's sucks that I'll to leave sprint great prices and decent customer service, but the Droid X ups one on the Evo in my opinion (camera shutter button, larger battery, 8gb internal memory).
My question is will all my app on my evo work on the droid x? Their screen resolution are different.
Anyone else jumping ship?

It's the same resolution.
Droid x is ugly to me, too big, and doesn't have a front camera. Takes worse pics in comparison too, and i noticed shutter lag in a YouTube vid as well.
Only thing I like about it is processor and gpu

Droid X Res: 854 x 480
Evo 4g Res: 800 x 480
From what I read.
Also the pics and video shot on the droid X looked much better in the reviews I read.

processor and GPU would be nice, not to mention the hardware buttons. I'm not a fan of slightly moving my finger down and being at the home screen, losing what I was doing.

The Droid X looks ugly to me, and I have confidence that any complaints or shortcomings felt about the Evo will be addressed by our developer community. I'm up to 50 FPS right now on my Evo with a test kernel (Rev. 0003, Nova panel, no tearing or defects).
Where I'm at (Northern Virginia), I get great Sprint service. Around 2300 kbps on 3G and just under 5000 kbps on 4G with 1 bar.
I'll be staying right where I'm at.

Droid X's bootloader is locked, big disadvantage for me. who knows if and when you'll be able to flash custom roms.

I' m not going anywhere, i love my EVO, and there will be always a new device "better" so i don't even bother

You purchased a Sprint Phone to use in an area where you knew it would not get great reception? Then complain about it?

haha.
sprint's been good to me. if you're an ass to custser rep, then expect them to be an ass. i've asked nicely and received a lot of good stuff from them. i upgraded my touch pro to a touch pro 2 for free in march and then several months later, was able to get my evo for the same price as new subscribers. with those buttons the droid x looks so yesterday.

I will never return to Verizon. The coverage was much worse for me and I was paying 30% more than I do with Sprint.

Here,here!!

Verizon is so much more expensive than Sprint. Droid X has much better hardware, but looks slightly worse.

il keep my evo

nahhh EVO is too sexxy for me to leave for a ugly DROID X.besides i get 25% off of my bill every month from SPRINT,cant beat that

As someone else posted, why would you get a phone on a network that doesn't have good coverage in your area... Have fun with your Droid and higher phone bill with Verizon though... Not sure why you needed to let everyone know that you were leaving your EVO behind either.

Verizon is way too expensive, EVO = 70 a month with unlimited mobile calling, DroidX = 120 a month, in 2 years that = $1200 more for Verizon and they are getting ready to do the 2gb data cap like ATT. Screw that LOL I get just as good of service here in S.Florida with Sprint as I do with Verizon. The only thing I like better about the DroidX is the GPU but the fact of the matter is these phones are just like our computers, the games will always be made to support the widest array of customers possible so even though the GPU is more powerful on the Droid it will still be stuck playing the same games as the rest of the Android phones. I much prefer Sense, that ui on the Droid looks terrible, I don't like the design with the big hump on top and I don't like how big the thing is, nor do I like the cheap plastic hardware buttons the EVO is much sleeker and a much nicer phone IMO.
I'm sure the DroidX will be popular though Verizon/Motorola are really good with the advertising and hype much like Apple is with the iPhone, which is a good thing, without them Android might still be where it was a couple years ago.

I think I will stick with the already rooted HTC Evo 4G with Sprint's cheaper plan.
As I said before, yeah, HTC screwed up pretty bad, but the dev community here is so ridiculously awesome I'm not even worried about anything anymore.
At this rate, I think the custom kernel will have working cameras sooner than later.
And besides, someone mentioned how Motorola is making their phones the unbreakable fortress software wise. All that headache to root a phone will paying an extra 30 dollars a month? Nty.
And someone else also mentioned, newer phones, usually better. Too bad, so sad.

You have to look at the network first and then the phone. If Sprint has bad coverage and Verizon is good then you should switch. Luckily dfw has great sprint coverage

re coverage and jumping ship
Maybe I am wrong but doesn't sprint roam on verizon towers, if coverage is the reason jump ship stop by at the developers side there is a PRL hack to allow your EVO to solely find the verizon towers, it seams to be faster and more bars but the response time is much slower which on a mobile device makes a huge difference everything you do. the evo is a great device i really did not and still do not see any of the 30 fps cap and gpu fault till i stopped looking solely on the developers side, every game i play runs smoothly, live wallpapers run great, hd movies converted looks phenomenal and runs smoothly. i thought there where hardware limitation causing scrolling jerkiness until i install ADW and then Advanced launcher pro and it scrolled like butter. software optimizations would come.
And about the slight tint on the LCD for espon 002 screens emogamer explained it the best. its like any other lcd t.v or monitor, its like setting you t.v to cool pic/sports mode on representing the 002 and warm/movie mode representing the 003, everyone knows if you wanna use you lcd tv as a monitor, you set it on cool mode, you cold see the txt better that way and its more vibrant, same for monitors. try it open the web page showing both screens side to side with some text below switch from warm to cool mode on your lcd or monitor it pretty much the same effect, white better represented in cool mode but blacks are richer in warm mode there is also a slight tint on the cool mode but the text come out looking more defined. this is a mobile device just enjoy it for the possibilities the hardware has not even been pushed to the max, developers are still finding stuff in the code.

I'm sticking with my EVO. The Droid X has a nice processor and GPU but everything else, the EVO pretty much has it beat in MY opinion. Some may like the hardware buttons more but, I have yet to have any problems with the EVO's buttons. On top of that the Droid X is pretty ugly. The EVO looks beautiful and elegant. No front facing camera on the DX (and believe it or not, I use it quite a bit more than I originally thought I would). And since there is no longer a 30fps cap or any touch lag on the EVO, there's absolutely no reason for me to switch because everything else works flawlessly for me.
I have no doubt the Droid X will be extremely popular on Verizon though. It's definitely a good phone, but for me, the EVO has it beat.

Anyone else thinking of dumping the htc evo 4g for this?

I got the HTC EVO 4g at the IO conference, had a great time over there.
Anyway, I feel like the phone sucks because of the 30fps cap, gona sell it for around 400$-450$ on ebay.
Then get the Droid X.
Anyone else thinking of doing the same?

Nah, I like the Evo so far. And I happen to be lucky enough to be in an area that is going to allegedly green light 4G in the next few weeks (Orlando, FL). Software wise, the Droid X isn't going to be all that different than the Evo, so I'm good.

I worded my first post badly, I love the EVO, I just can't stand they ruined an amazing phone.
But that's a good thing to me if the Droid X is not very different, because I love the EVO
The thing I really like about the droid x is the oled screen compared to the evo's lcd screen that drains battery. If the evo had that it would be my top pick.

Yeah. I'm waiting till the end of the grace period before I return it. I want to get as much use out of my evo as possible.

If it was OLED, they would be showing that off as a feature. Since they haven't said anything, it's pretty safe to assume it's LCD.
I am. Bye Evo, I won't miss your 30 FPS Novatel and horrid input lag. Or the lousy camera and sub-par video recording. I shouldn't have to root my phone to make it work right. I refuse to be stuck with a "flag ship" phone that has this many issues while hoping fixes come out. The devs working on the FPS issue are definitely awesome, props to them.
Gotta admit, the Droid X is looking pretty darn impressive. Like, tempting me to return my EVO impressive.
I was doing a quick Pro/Con analysis and came up with a lot on the DroidX side and not much on the EVO side. But the EVO advantages are very very big.
EVO pros
4G (ten times faster according to my tests)
Kickstand
Cheaper plan (We assume)
Unlimited Data (It's not clear the specific terms and condition of Verizon's data plan)
Frontfacing Camera (which is almost irrelevant to me)
DROIDX pros
Sharper Screen (say the reviews)
Physical Buttons (that I got used to with my iPhone
Works in Metro (DC area)
Faster processor
Noise Cancelling Mic
Better WiFi? (EVO has noticably shorter WiFi range in my house)
Froyo date promised (summer 2010)
Multitouch keyboard
8GB vs 512MB on-unit storage
16GB SD included
Lighter by 6oz
What am I missing about EVO over DroidX?
Droid also has image stabilization, diversity antennas, and better battery life. The screen is higher resolution and has 16 million colors (24-bit) vs the Evo's 65,000 colors (16-bit).
I think you captured all the Evo pros.
I'm curious to compare the build quality of both devices.
Does Verizon have any sort of grace period like Sprint does? Went from iPhone to EVO and I'm tempted to at least test the Droid X out. Considering the biggest pro that the EVO had going for it was the front facing camera, which kind of seems useless seeing as no one else I know bothered getting the EVO. (Which could easily change since everyone I know is getting an iPhone which does have a front facing camera).

Yes but it's not free like Sprint. $35 per line to cancel, and they pro-rate your bill.
I am considering it. I love the EVO and think its a better phone. For me it will come down to one issue.
The 30fps/input lag issue. They seem to be tied together.
For me the EVO wins because of the front camera, kickstand and 4G.
The EVO is a very good phone, but it certainly has some major flaws. The ones that get me the most
Battery life, well it just sucks. Don't leave wifi on your screwed, my crappy 3g iphone had much better battery life.
The WIFI reception stinks,
And why the hell doesn't it have an extra 8g memory, memory is cheap and we all like more of it.
and what is the use in having such a big screen if the video quality is so bad.
And I agree you shouldn't have to root your phone to get it to work well. It is supposed to be bleeding edge but it missed the mark not by a lot but by enough.
If the battery life is better droid x will much better.
Rooting is awesome. makes the phone feel like i purchased rather than a phone im renting
Hey if you really want to own your phone why don't you paint it too or bedazzled it?
Rooting wouldn't be as bad if it magically made the battery life better or improved the wifi. It may improve the battery but it still stinks.
imho if a phone is going to be the next wonder phone it should have better battery life than a pos iphone out of the box.
Iphone almost got me again on IPhone 4 but that damn antenna shorting out is a deal breaker. What is the point of having a sleek new phone with the first thing you have to do is wrap it in an ugly plastic bumper. Eat it Jobs, guess we know why he had such bad reception.
Any ideas on what to do to keep my phone number (and have cell phone service) for 2 weeks between returning my EVO and getting a droid x?

I am having a similar issue. I was considering going to T-Mobile for 3 weeks and porting the number to them, then dumping them and going to Verizon. lol
Another option would be to talk to Verizon, they might be able to start your service early on a loaner phone.

There is no phone on the market that can come close to the EVO. I hate when people say the EVO pinch to zoom is slower than the Iphone they never ever ever ever mention the great reason why. Its going to be a little slower Unlike the iphone it takes the text on the page and re-sizes the words so u can read them and it has flash player which takes longer to load and with all that its still only like 1/2 of a second behind. sorry that was my rant for today i guess the moral of the story is stop comparing anything to my mini laptop that's my name for the EVO lol

No offense, I love the Evo, but that was one of the worst video reviews I've ever seen. For one, he most likely has auto-fit to page turned off, as even my old Moto Droid did what the Evo does.
And he claims the Evo wins in the "screen" department because of the buttons on the bottom? Shouldn't that fall into the design aspect more?
Bottom line droids x haas superior hardware, minus a front facing camera.
Evo is more developer friendly. Apparently motorola is locking the phone down in a way that will make custom roms much more difficult and possibly impossible.
Verizon is also going to be capping data soon. I just got orb live working on my evo so I'm definitely going to need unlimited data
So if your into the rom scene use lots of data or want video chatting you might want to stuck with the evo for now.
Also that review was horrible and you using it to justify evo over droid makes your argument unsound
****tiest review ever.
Worse than Chris's on the HTC EVO 4g
Physical buttons ftw, I hit the EVO's buttons by accident all the time, pain in the ass.
The camera, I'm not so sure if he was bullshitting, engadget said it was better.
It has a way better graphics card.
And I hate how the EVO moves text around, I don't want it to. (In the web browser)
I am getting a Droid X eitherway. His review sucked. The EVO is great, but the weak gpu makes me limp. (Droid X's is way way way more powerful)

One thing that turns me down about the Droid X is the potential of the locked boot loader.
WOW so yall don't care if the buttons feel flimsy and the camera is horrible and the phone can't do something as simple as resize text again wow! Well good luck to u don't come crying back when those flimsy buttons start falling off lol.
Don't understand the hype on the Droid x. It really isn't THAT much better than the Evo, but it is better.

His two main points are:
1. The Droid X does not have a separate GPU - its PowerVR SGX530 GPU is part of the SoC (system on chip) architecture.
The EVO does not lack a GPU - its AMD Z430 GPU is part of the SoC.
2. Benchmarks are irrelevent and inaccurate and most ppl don't even know what they measure (especially tech reviewers). Read his posts, they are a.good read.

Well, those were certainly interesting posts. Guy seems to know his stuff too.
On another point... Arguing hardware buttons vs soft buttons is pointless. Nobody can say which is "better". That's generally a preference. It doesn't matter at all to me. I'm not so clumsy that I constantly bump the soft buttons on my evo though and I also do not believe that all hardware buttons will break.
Personally since I've gotten my EVO I could give a flying f_._._ about any other device. Apple, Droid, BB whatever. People always want bragging rights to prove what they have is better than what someone else has and I don't care what anyone else has or what proof they have that their device is better than mine. The EVO does everything I need it to do, my data plan isn't restricted so I don't have to worry about getting my internet cut off when I really need it. My screen is HUGE so I can watch movies on the go. And I love love love text resizing, honestly to the guy that says he hates that??? Why? Why do you want to scroll the screen back and forth to read a webpage? That makes no sense to me, but whatever floats your boat I guess. Sorry OP's rant sparked mine off

Agreed. No other device can touch the EVO in my opinion. There's just too much going for it on the whole that works for ME, at least. Everything you mentioned, the front facing camera, which I use quite often (despite people saying nobody would ever use it). 4G is fast and it's available (or will be soon) in both places that I have to live in (DC and San Francisco). The kickstand is priceless and the device is simply beautiful. And of course, Sprint is still the cheapest even with the $10 premium fee (Verizon is charging $30). The Droid X is definitely a good phone but it is still lacking some of the more appealing hardware specs of the EVO that I really like and Verizon's prices are killer. And personally, the Droid X isn't as handsome as I'd like.
At this point, most high end phones do generally the same thing. There's really not much difference between the EVO and the Droid X and the Galaxy S Series and the iPhone4. It all comes down to personal preference. In the long run, I believe the EVO will be the one with the biggest developer support as well. I'm glad Verizon customers have something to compete with. It only helps to increase Android's marketshare.
I thought about jumping to the Droid X but being stuck on EVDO when LTE is close to launching on Verizon, you're stuck with the Droid X for 2 years. I'm also assuming that when LTE does launch, Verizon will include caps similiar to ATT. Enjoy that. Not the best time to buy a Verizon phone. I will be happy with my Evo for 1 year if Sprint continues to release good Android phones., if not. I can switch in 2. No biggie.

Moving to the X, and not sure how I feel about it

Im moving over to the Droid X, simply because im a "need the latest greatest" type of guy, but I really love my Incredible! So if Im not happy, i hope one of you will trade me back an incredible!
You'll be back.
I'm kinda in the same boat. I have the opportunity to upgrade to either a fascinate or a droid x (saying ill give my bro my incredible and $50 so I can snatch his upgrade) but I'm not 100% sure I want to do it. Sure id like a better screen but as it stands every phone on verizon has a quirk, so I feel that no matter what I choose I will never truly be happy. For example:
Incredible: lowsy battery life unless you fatten it up a little, creaky/squeaky backplate, relatively weak graphics
Droid X: terrible menu buttons, strange hump design for the camera, could be annoying to hold at times
Fascinate: GPS barely works
So in short every phone has flaws that will make you keep going "I wonder what life would be like if I went with phone x..." People like us are truly doomed

From the two backplates I've used, they both exhibit a squeaky/creaky noise when held from time to time... doesnt give the strongest build quality feel. I know I'm not the only one who has experienced this.
As for the graphics issue you'll notice my use of the word relative. I'm not implying the incredible is weak, but when compared to the droid x or the fascinate it certainly is. It is still stronger than the iphone 3gs, and that's capable of running that epic citadel tech demo so ill leave it at that.

You might be moving to the latest , but not the greatest .
I know the squeaky feel you're talking about, I forgot about it once I got a case. As far as the X, I would enjoy having a bigger screen but am not a fan of Moto phones, especially the crap Motoblur the X is running.. If I were you, I would save your upgrade for an LTE phone or something better, as the Droid X is by no stretch of the imagination the latest and greatest. rofl.
Agreed
I am not completely happy with the incredible but there are many htc phones in the works with world capabilities as well as the moto pro, that's without mentioning windows phone is dropping sometime in the next 4 months to verizon, in november to AT&T. I really don't care for anything else on the x besides the screen real estate. I have two lines available for upgrades, however, I don't see the point in upgrading right now because I love the rca outs for the incredible. I have my fiance drive me around everywhere in my titan so I can watch hulu from my dinc. Plus this is the only device I've ever owned that just works every time I call upon it. The moto droid was a big step but sometimes it would cut out in the middle of navigation, or skip when playing songs. My incredible works no matter how much I torture it I even had to scoop it from the sand with my feet underwater, I took the battery out, let it dry and it has been working for 3 months since without any issues. I am just a new tech junkie I suppose as long as their isnt a gay colored half eaten apple on it.
I agree. At this time, there simply isn't anything better out there.

not to start a flame war either way but anyone had a droidx before? I'm on the fence of keeping my g2 or flipping to vzw. coverage for hspa is awesome when i have it but some places, like my work desk... i get edge, which is annoying. i know its not really apples/apples but they're both pretty solid devices and in my experience (especially travelling/roadtrips/outside of metro areas) network differences. of course there's cost differences associated with that.
anyways if anyone is coming from that to a g2 i'd love to hear what you think.
fwiw i like the g2 so far, if i could rock the hspa everywhere it would make me extremely happy. my hinges arent the tighest, but the device is responsive. i wish it had more led blinking options (maybe with the charge led?) but i hope those are to come. (im coming from a g1)
I actually flipped to vzw for a month and had first a Droid 2, then an Incredible. My experience in my area is that vzw sucks balls indoors and I could not get 3G without propping the phone a certain way in a weird spot on my desk. Returned both those phones within 30 days and cancelled my contract. Went back to TMO and have had excellent reception indoors and out with my Blackberry 9700. But that is just in my area, and isn't really answering your question about the X. My friend has an X but I'm not really a fan of Motoblur and the form factor of the X is not for me. I have a G2 still in the box getting ready to play with this weekend. If I can get HSPA+ at my desk I will be in nerd heaven.

I have a friend who is thinking about the droid incredible. What were your impressions as far as the device is concerned aside from the service?
Sorry OP, don't mean to thread jack.

I had the Droid 2 for a few weeks but went back to T-Mobile.... 2 things that made me go back. (their coverage is truly great though)
BUt the 3G speeds are NOT there.... trust me I had to wait forever for youtube to load. I was getting barely 1.5 MBps
Verizon is also expensive compared to t-mobile... but thats only worth is if you live in a area with bad reception.
I had the Droid 2, it was a good phone but G2 deff better than the D2 in everywhere. Plus the motoblur is crapped everywhere in the phone, but you can root and put vanilla rom on it.

The Incredible is a very, very nice device, especially if you are a fan of Sense. It is pretty much loaded to the gills with everything HTC has to offer, and that is a good thing IMO. The UI is lightning quick, pinch to zoom on any homescreen flicks up a card style grid of all the homescreens...it does this as fast as the iphone can scroll and is just as fluid. The Sense widgets are really polished and I could certainly live with them even though I prefer stock Android. The amoled screen is sweet, although I thought reds and oranges looked over-saturated and unnatural. The screen is more viewable in sunlight than you might have heard, but it is not iphone or blackberry bright...at all. The 8mp camera is awesome, and during the time I owned it I got the OTA Froyo update and the new HD video recorder was pretty good, not spectacular. I would highly recommend the device to your friend if he is on vzw, over the Droid 2 by a long way, over the X by a little, and maybe a toss-up with the Fascinate. Or he could wait for vzw's LTE roll-out and enjoy 4G speeds as we are now doing on our G2's!!!! He might even get a vzw iPhone if that is his thing.

Thanks! Very informative.
My friend is a very casual user. He has a good upgrade deal for the incredible to buy 1 get 1 free so after playing with my g2 he started to get the itch. He wants to have a go with android. He will be pleased to here your review.

ive played with the incredible for a short period as a friend has it, it was snappy and worked well, but didn't really have enough exposure to really give good feedback (so disregard this sentence haha). i do like the extra screen real estate of the dx, albeit humongous to some, so the incredible isn't really an option for me. the coverage issues is almost opposite of keithRVA where i have teetering signal in my house (when usually signal hopping is more frustrating, but the g2 is WORLDS faster than the g1 was at picking signals, not surprising) and the same but worse bouncing, at my desk (down the hall 15' works fine, not helpful but still....) theres certain parts around where i live where there's no hspa, but mostly otherwise if im outside, its good. the cost increase for vzw is not a huge difference but enough that i could eat an ETF every year so it is a factor.
fwiw in playing with the droid2, i think its not at all a contender, mostly due to the keyboard which is entirely worthless so i'd rather have the larger screen and slimmer packaging.

Honest opinion ....

Is the evo better than the droid x??? Im paying way to much at verizon
Sent from my DROIDX using XDA App
In my humble opinion, other than the fact it says "sprint" on it, yes it is. HTC is so much better. I LOVE my X but would trade it for an EVO on verizon in a heartbeat. (i know, not possible) so as of now i'm waiting on the Thunderbolt...
I just made a move from Sprint to Verizon. The reason I switched is because Sprint had billed my wife and I for 5 months on a phone that was canceled. We called every month to tell them it was canceled, but it was never fixed. Overall Sprint was decent, but Verizon has more coverage in our area.
I can't speak for the Evo though, I moved from a HTC Hero to my Droid X, which is a huge upgrade.
Thanks

I'm not trying to take nothing away from the Evo but, this my opinion how the phones stack against each other.
In the way of quality, I would say neck and neck. The DX is although a solid piece of hardware not to mention newer. 4G is not accessible everywhere and some of the people I talked to whom own an Evo, don't even get 4G 1/3 of the time; o-wait, let's not forget you have to pay a $10 4G fee. The hardware is older then the DX on the Evo, and no, not by much, but enough to cause a difference of negative FPS in benchmarks when the processors are kept at stock speeds. Why would slower technology be better then newer and faster technology? Oh wait...because it has a kickstand please. If I want to watch a movie, I will do it on a proper TV. Droid X has the gorilla glass LCD display, never a scratch on my screen and I went months before picking up an Otter Box Defender. I have noticed on the Evo, when looking at through the bottom of the screen, I can see several back lights illuminating the screen, exactly like the Droid 1, but not on the Droid X. Motorolla didn’t miss this. The Evo has a lot more development in the way of ROMs, themes, etc...but the DX has some as well. Doesn't matter, 98% of people with an Evo or Droid X have no idea what a theme or custom icon APK file is let alone a custom ROM. HDMI out? While I am more likely not going to use it, I would use my HDMI out before I used a kickstand lol. Three microphones on the DX, recorded video's audio sounds amazing when played back. Motorolla really left no stone unturned when it comes to quality with the DX. Sure it has a locked bootloader, but that’s another topic and one that really has no relevance. The DX is thinner and more attractive phone in my opinion as well. The lines and candy bar like styling is what gets me.
It just depends on what you plan on using your phone for. Both phones offer unique features but for me and anyone I would recommend a phone to, a Droid X has the edge over an Evo.
Sadly, technology becomes a thing of the past every six months, the Atrix is where it's at in the way of super smart phones, soon to be followed by all the other Dual Core phones. The Droid X or Evo is more then enough phone for today’s mobile phone needs, it’s just up to you if you need the latest and greatest.
Droid X for the win

While I agree with a lot of Ben's comments, I still look at it in the way of development especially looking on these forums. The Evo is way ahead in that area. The ease of customization is also much better than our X. I don't know exactly what the major differences are on this topic, but they say the screen size on the Evo is considered perfect, while the X's screen format is a little odd... Also, you say our video is better, BUT the Evo's camera seems to be better than the X. My friend had one and we were taking pics around a campfire one night and his flash was twice as bright. looked like a nice digital camera, whereas mine looked dark still... I hate to defend it cause i LOVE my X but HTC nails it. And moto is gonna keep the bootloader locked on this and future phones so like I said, when the thunderbolt comes out, i'll probably jump ship... (may jump back to the bionic though if they change their mind about the bootloader!)

The DX's camera at night is like that of a WalMart keychain camera. I don't know what makes the " go into s*** mode " when it's dark out but, during the day is a different story. 4.3 is 4.3 as far as the screen goes. I think the fact that the DX is bigger around it's screen area is what your trying to get at.
The DX still wins lol
so any of you think that you will switch to the thunderbolt?

Me personally, probably not unless, I get a great deal on one. There just isn't something my Droid X can't do that a Bionic can. If I had anything older then my Droid X I would upgrade no problem but for me, I think I will wait until the next wave of new phones come out 6 months from now. Now by that time, there should be something that would really spark interest other then an additional processor on a phone. My DX is still plenty fast, the development support for the phone is there and if I really need to, I can set my processor to run at 1.3Ghz which would keep up with a Bionic just fine.
Unless apps, games etc. are made to utilize the Dual Core capabilities, there just isn't any pros to spend money for no reason on " future proof " technology. Give it some time and let's see what comes from having new hardware, then I will jump ship
Edit: Not only was I right, wait until Tegra 3 Kal-El comes out at the end of the year! Quad Core in phones! Now THAT is the news I was waiting for. Everyone who is jumping on the Dual Core train now is going to wish they would have waited

Interesting camera observation, as the physical camera sensor is identical on the X and the Evo...
