Flashing to OEM firmware - Galaxy S I9000 General

Would it be possible for the us end-users to reflash the Galaxy S back an OEM/Unbranded firmware. I've read on the Singapore forums that the SingTel firmware is the major culprit for the slowdowns even after updating it to the latest version.

Yes it shouldn't be a problem. Check Samsung-Firmare website for instructions and flash files.

samsung-firmware.webs.com
that site?

http://samsung-firmware.webs.com/WEBPROTECT-samsungi9000.htm
to be more precise

So reflashing with these firmwares will remove the branded firmware from the telco ?

Yes. Do not install the Asia firmwares....it's still the Singtel branded version. The Euro versions are unbranded.

Ok.. the instructions says the phone must not be simlocked so If the unit I get is simlocked to my local telco are there easy ways to unlock the galaxy S ?

Philippines, I dont have the phone yet but thats the usual case here since our local telco got the exclusive deal to sell the handset, the current and only stocks they have are SingTel units but arnt sim-locked yet.. Probably the next batch they will get this July will be sim-locked.

Odin can't recognize my phone. Can someone help?

@Earlz,
Greetings from Singapore! kennyboy from HWZ had in fact flashed to the euro version, and now he had even rooted his phone using Leshak's files.
I will be updating to the euro version of the firmware, jf3 when it is available for download.

Not fully, since its possible that when the handsets arrive here in my place they will be locked by the telco and the instructions on flashing stats that make sure the phone is not simlocked.

just curious on why you want to do that??
I guess it comes up automatically if we flash a rom related to one country. Have no idea on how to change it afterwards.

well, i did not think it that way...i was thinking if there is some specific functionalities of the phone if it is listed as Australia.
It would be nice to have phone numbers and such formatted for Australia, if it had Australia in the locale it wouldn't matter as much. and i think since it says Indonesia i'll keep getting the Indonesia'n firmwares and updates not ones for Australia.

Official ICS for O2 Branded devices

Hey everyone,
O2 released the official ICS for O2 Branded Galaxy S2 devices today for anyone who wishes to know. Not sure if this is the right section, so I am sorry if it is wrong.
I updated mine there now. Looks nice so far; but may need to flash it with a version without touchwiz; this is the first time I have hated touchwiz on a rom.
Regards,
T.
You got me all excited but it hasn't shown up on Kies for me.
LPxx update..
Just appeared in my Kies, I take it this is the firmware update LPxx ? Does anyone know if this will affect root (as mine is rooted) ?
thanks,
D

I bought it pretty recently from phones4u on contract with O2. So I'm pretty certain.
Could it be that they're staggering the updates so they don't have every single SGS2 user trying to download ICS at once?

You have an Unlocked version if bought from Phones4U. It is contract with O2, but still unlocked. When connected to KIES and it says "This is the latest version", underneath it will have the PDA, CSC code etc. It will end in XEU; this is unlocked. If it ends in O2U; it is O2 locked.

Think I am going remove touchwiz today tbh.
Seems OK , not too slow/intensive. I'll leave it "as is" for a while and see how it goes.

[Q] GT-I9506 4.3 T-mobile FW

Hello all,
you may have seen that the t-mobile (Germany) was released this morning.
http://live.samsung-updates.com/index.php?device=GT-I9506
I am wondering if it is possible to put this FW on a vodafone (German) S4. (Unlocked) I had heard that t-mobile builds had less crap ware than vodafone, but not sure if it is true. In any case, there is no word when or if Vodafone will release 4.3, so it would be nice to have it from t-mobile otherwise.
any ideas?

Just as an FYI, I was able to flash this FW and it did work..But the radio is not that good. Much harder to get an LTE connection. I think I will try to figure out how to go back to 4.2 vodafone.

Does anyone know where I can find the Australian F/W for the H990DS?

I bought my phone from a grey market seller so it came with the Taiwanese F/W, I downloaded the Supposedly Australian F/W from this site but I think its a mexican one? After installing I had some Mexican Telco apps and the signal on my phone is still not very good. If anyone knows where I can get the actual Australian F/W that'd would be fking awesome.

There u go ?
wait, can you change your firmware just like that??
jumping from australia to the emirates and so forth?
are you sure it won't brick your phone?
and why would it change your reception?
can't you just add apn and all the rest going through your settings?
just asking because I'm really curious, is all

Well I went from the Taiwanese firmware to this one without any issues. It would affect my reception because the radio settings were for Taiwan and not Australia.

I ended up claiming warranty for my phone since it started to be retarded and slow down unless i reset it once a month. So either they might fix it for me or im outta $55 for admin fees. I might try this if I get the phone back and its on TWN again. Did your phone come with AUS already or did you switch over from some other one?

Nah my phone came with Aus, got it from jbhifi out right. This was the firmware that lg bridge updated my device to latest version, which I managed to pull from the golder before it finished flashing.
This is the kdz file you want to use.

Ah OK - So the only differences between us currently is the original carrier (EE for me) and the fact that your phone was unlocked prior to flashing.
Strange though. I thought on the S7 I typically saw the OTAs before they made an appearance on sammobile.

It was lock to UK AT&T and unlocked with code.. But I don't know why is that a problem?
Since the firmware stated improve on wireless charging stability, anyone who is charging using wireless charger still encountered stop charging issue when temperature more 40°C?
Update: OK, just installed & try, still the same **** & Samsung didn't fixed it. I'm so disappointed.
Has anybody who's flashed from carrier to stock firmware been offered the OTA?
