Languages and locales - Galaxy S I9000 General

To those of you who already have it, could you please check and tell us what languages are available? Both for the entire menu and for the writing language.
I'm more interested in UK-issued models, but it would be nice to know those of other countries too.
Thanks!
P.S. I'm also interested in writing in Greek with the phone, would that be possible in case the UK model does not support many languages? (say, by using an app from the android market?)

I would be very interested in finding out too.
The included swype keyboard doesn't support Greek from what I've read, but was curious about the normal one in the UK edition.

Hi,
I bought the UK model. For android, it looks like there are all the languages I used to have in my HTC HERO. Although, swype is a different problem. The list is shorter : English (us and uk), Deutsch, French, Espanol, Italian, Nederlands, Portugues, Polski.

Thanks succube. Since I never had an Android phone, can you clarify whether the languages you had in your Hero are only for texting, or could you also change the menus to them? Is Greek in that list? (Ελληνικά)

May I ask, where did you buy your phone?

Thanks for the info succube
If it's like the Hero as you say (have a Hero as well) , then if you have a greek sim when you first open it, it will use Greek menus and have Greek available as a keyboard language.
Hope it's like that

For the languages, I will have some difficulty to write all of them because some aren't in latin caracters . But I can confirm : Bulgarian, danish, german, english, espanol, french, icelandic, italian, kazakh, latvian, lithuanian, macedonian, magyar, nederlands, norwegian, polski, portugues, romana, slovenian, slovensky, suomi, svenska, türkçe, Ελληνικά (yes there is greek ^^), 3 seem to be russian and some declination of it and the last one seems to be asian.

wtf no croatian? Serbian? Bosnian?

So u mean we cant see it? (The language is Arabic).
If not is there a way to install it (in Windows mobile we could install an app to see the characters cuz it wasnt supported), maybe by installing fonts?
Is root needed?
Thanks.

Arabic isn't in the language list on the phone. For the rest of your question, I don't know.

Does it support Japanese? It should because older Android phones do, but better safe than sorry (= total deal breaker). Many thanks!

Languages

Perhaps stupid question, but how do you get more languages?
According to androidos . in/2010/12/android-2-3-brings-more-languages-support-incl-hindi/ it should have support for alot of languages, but in my phone I can't see for example swedish. Not as language and not as keyboard.
Any way to get swedish support without a third party keyboard?
Can you check please if Greek language exists????
Deutsch, English, Spanish, French, Italian, Portugues and a couple of asians i can't read...

[Q] Jellyblast v3 chinese language/locale

Hi, i'm new here.
Just installed the Jellyblast v3 custom rom. Works great, looking in the language and input section in settings, there is no item for either Chinese traditional or simplified
Was wondering if there is actually Chinese language/locale support. If so, how to enable it.
Thanks.
If you didn't see any option for chinese language in settings, then there is probably no chinese locale in the rom.

Looking at the update information for this particular rom (in the development section), it states there is chinese support. I would try and ask directly on the development thread, however I do not have permission to post there

Oxygen 2.2.0 Languages

Hello guys.
I just bought a OnePlus 2 for my father and I can't seem to find Bulgarian language in the options, even tho I had it with every Cyanogenmod so far. Can someone please tell me if there is a way to add a language pack to the system. I can't change his ROM since he lives in Bulgaria and I live in Germany.
Thanks in advance!
One Plus Two deos not run Cyanogen Mod but Oxygen. Accoring to Geeksbuying.com these are the supported languages:
Bahasa Melayu, Catalan, Czech, Danish, German, English, Spanish, Filipino, French, Croatian, Italian, Hungarian, Nederlands, Norwegian, Polish, Portuguese, Slovenian, Slovak, Finnish, Swedish, Vietnamese, Greek, Ukrainian, Hebrew, Arabic, Persian, Hindi, Thai, Korean, Japanese, Traditional/Simplified Chinese
Unfortunetly I can not help you with adding a language pack.
Best regards

One possibility is to root the phone and install an app like LocaleMore
Settings will be in English but you are able run your store and all apps in your language
