Can not use Bell Canada SIM on my Touch2 but almost any other SIM works fine. - Touch2 General

I am new to htc world. I bought a Touch2 6 months back in Netherlands and it was on Telfort (a local network provider) on Dutch language. Then I moved to Canada and changed the ROM with the help of hardspl to English. But I can not use my new Bell Canada SIM card in this phone. It does not catch any signal. But when I checked through settings - connections - connection setup, then I see under country Canada there are a list of service provider's name listed but no Bell there. I guess this does not mean SIM lock or so. How can I add Bell in that list and make my bell sim work in my touch2 ?
Thanks in advance for any kind of clue !

It won't work at all no matter what you try... the phone doesn't have UMTS 850/1900, and Bell doesn't have GSM. Sorry!
It'll work on Rogers & Fido in 2G/EDGE mode, that's all you'll get in Canada.

what the mate means is that bell uses CDMA and the Touch2 is a GSM mobile phone so you can't use it with bell.

No, that isn't what I mean. Bell's HSPA network, launched about 8 months ago (the one which uses SIM cards) is UMTS-only. The Touch2 does not support Bell's UMTS frequencies. Therefore it sees nothing when a Bell SIM is inserted.

Not tried it, but UK O2 Orbits are not network locked, you can put any SIM in - although with it not being a 3G device, there seems little point in putting a Three SIM in as it will just drop back to whichever GSM network Three piggybacks on (O2 I think). I'v just bought a three sim for £1.25 on ebay, so I'll load it up and see what the coverage is like near me - I only get intermittent t-mobile in my place...
it used to be possible but then 3 started to locking their sims so they only worked in 3g phones
aha!
im not so fussed about the 3g coverage its more being able to use that sim card in the phone, whethe rit roams off of o2 or etc. i got my phoen unlocked (originally t-mobile compact 3) and its the only simcard that doessnt work - thats why im suspicios of this shop[ who says they can doo it for £50
please keep me updated as to how your simcard goes, and if anyone knows a way of doing this im all ears!

Hello
From what I know is, Korea use CDMA signal instead of WCDMA (European 3G signal) there for I'm afraid that you will need to get a phone in korea.

[Q] Compatibility with Canadian Network

Hello
I am in Canada for 2 weeks and found my blackstone with eurpeen SIM (SFR) is unable to to find /connect to any local provider.
I bought a new SIM from ROGERS, but this niether did not work.
My question, is the Blackstone compatible with Canadian network?
Thanks for helps
Yes, it should be fine. SFR will roam onto Microcell or Rogers in Canada - a PDF guide to roaming on SFR including coverage is at
http://docs.sfr.fr/guide/Guide_de_Voyage_SFR.pdf
Make sure your band setting in phone options is set to Auto or GSM1900+850. It might have defaulted to GSM900+1800 which won't work in Canada.

European Samsung S5 doesn't want to connect in Canada to Wind Mobile

Hi guys,
I am Italian and I bought an S5 (SM-G900F - international) when I went back in Italy for vacations and I've used the phone for a week there with my italian sim card. Now I am back to Canada. I put my canadian sim card but it doesn't want to find "Wind Mobile" I am in roaming with "Wind away" when I go to select a network provider I can see "BELL", "TELUS" but nothing about "Wind Mobile".
When I bought the phone a samsung representative told me I could have used to phone worldwide. So now I do not understand what the issue is. I do not think it is sim unlocked cause in Italy they do not do that. In addition I do not see any place to put a code to unlock the sim so... I was wondering if there is a region lock and how to solve the problem. Thanks
