Unlocking MyTouch Slides - myTouch 3G Slide General

Is there anyway to use root to unlock the mytouch slide, or do I have to pay one of the services to do so?

root can not get rid of the subsidy lock, you will still need the valid unlock code.

That is about it. I hear t-mobile is pretty good at giving them out as long as you meet a few requirements. I went through a service to unlock both of mine as I am not and have never been a t-mobile customer.
My codes were delivered in under 2 hours and was only $10/ea... If you are interested in who I went through you can PM me and i'll tell you.

I've been a customer for 7 years, bought these phones specifically for a trip I'm leaving for tomorrow, but they tell me I have to wait 14 days. Oh well.

great and VERY fast sim unlock company is Carrierunlock.com. took less than an hour and was ten bucks. different phones cost different, this was for blackberry for a friend.

Man get a hold of another rep that's bs .. my dad bought a hd2 and as soo as we left the store we called and the rep put in the request for unlock, within 24 hrs it was unlocked. She did tell me how ever that I now have to wait 90 days for my next phone, which sucks because he exchanged the hd2 for a Slide!! Also the reason for the call wasnt unlock specific but it came up and she did it.

Hey, sorry to piggy back but I just wanted to verify something. I can just ask tmobile for the code to unlock my phone for free, or are they gonna charge me?

Thanks 4 the save

I just used cellunlock.net for my myTouch 3G Slide. It was $20 and they got it to me fast.
I was happy, since 2-3 other websites said they could not help me or they wanted $30-50.

The only down side getting it from the carrier is it takes up to 14 days to get it from them. I just ask them when I first get my phone so when I do travel I don't have to wait for it and panic.

Free but it's not always the easiest thing to get. Sometime you just have to bite your teeth and go to ebay and get a code. THere is a couple posts on here with credible places to get unlock codes if T-Mobile wont give it up. Also make sure to mention you are going out of country and need the unlock code to use other cell phone companies in said country. Also I believe it's the law that they have to give it to you so also try to mention that.

Yes, T-mobile will do it for free if you call them and ask them that you need your phone unlocked.
Call T-mo, tell them "I am going to Japan (or whatever) next week and I need my phone unlocked so i can insert a foreign sim for two weeks."
Psychoace was correct.
They might try to tell you they have an international plan but be firm and they will email you an unlock code within 48 hours. I've done this on my wing and then my g1 in previous years. no hassles.
No you no need Generate the own Unlock code,You can unlock it simply using the unlock code purchase from this online site Mobile-unlocker.com/samsung-vibrant/rs2wp9/ and Unlock Samsung Vibrant.
Cool good to know.

Try calling again and ask for a supervisor. I know it sounds corny but I had the same thing happen and I had to call more then 4 times and then I asked for a supervisor and actually got one that I could understand and she was very nice and within a week I got my unlock code. They said it would take up to 14 days but got it in 7 so I was happy. Give it a try it can't hurt...
There is one on ebay for 9 dollars or so.. A bit pricey, but if you need it instantly, then it would be your best bet.

Thanx!! I got 2 devices within 5 months unlocked by calling 611, and HTC doesn't want to provide me another one until May of the next year. And I kind of need to unlock my device now. If you take Samsung for instance, you could find an app/tool for your PC that will generate you an unlock code from IMEI number you provide. HTC is big enough company to have some sort of same apps out there. Does anybody know of any?? Thank You

Carrier Unlock Motorola Atrix?

I just bought a Motorola Atrix AT&T Locked one. I want to unlock for any gsm carrier. Many told me to talk with AT&T directly but as I've bought it from another person I don't know about the purchase date & etc etc.
So I wanna unlock via any site. I found a top rated seller on ebay which says it can unlock Atrix for just US $2.32. http://www.ebay.com/itm/UNLOCK-CODE...ultDomain_0&hash=item2eb905b602#ht_2819wt_982
Should I choose it or there's another good sites for unlocking?
I think it worth a try. just 2bucks. If i were you i would give it a try

A good chunk of people have been able to get an unlock code just from calling AT&T. From what I understand you just need a CSR willing to help you, and with that... good luck.
for what its worth, I just bought an unlock code for about the same price from another ebay seller. Worked fine but took longer than they advertized(5 - 10 min). Took more like 5 hours, at the time it was somewhat annoying.
You took 5 hours on ebay ,but i brought it from some other website. It took me 3 days and cost 24bucks. lol
Crazy. Yea, some phones are cheap and others, even damn near identical phones have wildly varying prices.
Off topic, but Tecnic, how is the water level in Bangkok, has it started to recede yet? Is Yanhee affected at all?

Really? An AT&T rep will carrier unlock my Atrix? Wow. I'll have to ring them up this afternoon.
I got mine unlocked by just calling the AT&T customer service and asking them nicely.
Person gave me the code right on the spot. Took about 5mins total. easy peasy

AT&T will give you the code, just call and talk to a CSR - the atrix has been out long enough that they will gladly unlock it for you as long as your account is in good standing - I just told them I was planning a trip out of country and needed it unlocked. Simple as that. Just have to give them the IMEI#

I unlocked just by talking to AT&T live agent.
Mine is UK Orange, though.
I got my unlock code by calling ATT and talking to a CSR, for whatever reason though they had to email it to me about a week later but I did manage to get it. I got mine off ebay and didn't need to know any of the purchase info, all I needed was my contact info for sending the unlock code and the IMEI

Does anybody now if the ATT S4 is unlockable already? Amazon.com is selling it for 700$ and im thinking about buying, since the international is hard to find.
if you buy the phone full price, you can get the code from AT&T but they wont budge easy. prepare for a fight but it can be done, ive done it several times my self.

That my friend is a bold-faced lie. No locking is done without a key available to unlock it. They just don't want to share.
Att can definitely unlock it they just choose not to. Regardless I got mine unlocked today with cellunlocker.net took about 15 minutes and cost $24.99. Got my GS4 on T-Mobile for now.

Further proof that the unlock code is available!
I was at AT&T. We looked up the information while in the store. If you sign the 2 year contract they will give you the unlock code after 3 months. If you pay full price and go prepaid service you have to wait 6 months before they will give you the code. I read it right from the AT&T's sales reps. tablet.

I've read several accounts of people who recently bought an Att phone at full price and with no contract who where able to unlock their phone through Att. You really have to be vigilant. I just ordered an s4 from amazon and will try to unlock it tomorrow to use with my T-Mobile sim.
I unlocked mine through a code purchased from a website. Not helpful if you're trying to get ATT to do it, but proof it can be done!

If you unlock using a code bought from one of this website offering this kind of service would it be a permanent unlock? You won't have any problem updating firmwares, OS, or anything?

hmm. only 15 dollars doing it from their website. lets see if they get a code for me.
edit: they finally got back to me:
"I'm sorry but we could not find an unlock code for your phone in the Rogers database. There is a second option: to search for the code with Samsung supplier. This second option costs $ 29.9 and it takes about 20 minutes."
edit 2:
ok. works now. a little more than i wanted to pay but at least its less than the 50 that rogers wanted.
edit 3:
sigh.. unlocking wipes the phone and you need to redo EVERYTHING.
