Original backgrounds? - myTouch 3G Slide General

Hello, all
While I've been here for some time, this is my first Android post because I'm leaving WinMo to join the Android world. Pardon the naive question, but can you use your own wallpaper on the mytouch slide? I'm going to be getting it as my first Android OS phone. I just want to know if I can use my own pictures.

you can use any image you want, crop and resize as needed.

A landscape picture taken by the phone has the exact size/dimensions needed to fit the full wallpaper, so you can use it as a base to resize your wallpapers if needed.

Sweet, thanks for all the help guys.

free VGA themes: ShivaFooL digital art

My dear xda-dev friends,
I am so grateful for this community, I have gained so much. I have been a digital artist for years, so as one way of giving back, I have made a set of themes from my digital art. I am offering them exclusively to my friends here. I retain copyrights for all the images, so please respect that, and use only for your own private use, I.e. No sale or redistribution. There are 13 tsk files, so you can have one for each lunar month. All are less than 200K, but only one is less than 100K. For other Oz-Vga users out there, you need to change themes in SE-Vga for it to look right in Oz-Vga, because otherwise you just get a small image and not the full screen image. (You do see more of the image with Oz-Vga by the way.) I hope these may add to someone else's enjoyment of their Universal. I use them myself of course. I also invite you to check out my website to see more of my art: www.shivafool.com
Cheers !!
Thanks for the contribution. They're great themes
Thanks argh2000, I hope they will help give an interesting touch to some folks' little friends.
any chance of posting some screen shots - so we can pick & choose without installing??
thanks in advance!
Screenshot!
screenshots
I have some screenshots that I wanted to post, but I couldn't figure out how to do it. I saw that some folks did this by putting their picture files in http://forum.xda-developers.com/files/
but I don't know how you upload files there so you can link them in your message. Please tell me how, and I'll be happy to post some screenshots here.
And now included here is a zip file with 13 screenshots so you can look and choose without loading them all into the precious storage memory. Most show the theme in SEVga, though some may well look better in OzVga.

anyone going to develop a way to have animated gifs?

I love animated gifs. I get them in MMS, I go to 4chan and look at ppl do silly things, I watch radar in my browser sometimes. I miss being able to do these things. I could do them flawlessly on my touchpro 1 and touchpro 2, but on my moto droid NOPE!! so any developers out there that have some insight into this topic please help me, and everyone else who really wants this BASIC FUNCTIONALITY put into android.
thanks for listening to my rant.
If you could also please explain why the android platform does not have this feature I would appreciate it greatly.
Because the gif format is archaic, and Android is a forward-thinking platform .
well, if getting MMS attachments on your phone is archaic call me old fashioned then? I really hope this is supported. i don't see the point in leaving it out completely.
sorry for the double post. I found the bug page at google related to animated gif files. If you all could be so kind as to star this issue to get it bumped up higher I would appreciate it very much.

animated gifs are used for the hero builds' bootanimation, so android does support it, just not in its framework

Create your own animated wallpaper? can it be done?

Ok, I have looked everywhere and searched many forums. Normally I can find answers to my questions easily here at XDA (woot woot) but I can't find this nor figure this one out. How do i make my own wallpapers that are animated. I have tried to take gifs but they won't animate in the background. The reason why is I am a huge doctor who fan and I want to turn a gif into working animated background for my HD2.
(I can't post the link so you would have to type "Doctor who - The Eleventh Hour - NEW opening titles!" in youtube to find the link of the video i want to do this with.)Specifically I want it from 00:00:01 to 00:00:13 but I do know how to edit and create gifs myself I just can't get them to be animated on my HD2.
any ideas?

Touch event on masked canvas

I am new to Android app development and have been looking for tutorials on how to use touch events to move around and zoom in and out of a canvas that is seen by way of a mask/viewport. The mask/viewport would, I'm guessing, be the parent layout that has a fixed size and position. The attached .jpg shows a better diagram of what I would like to be able to do. If there are any experts out there itching to create a tutorial, this might be a good one. At least I know I would appreciate it.

Well you should read this class on touch events.
From what I understand you want to do, it is something like the Viewer from the Gallery App, so it might be a good idea to take a look at the sources!
