Intermitant 3g connection, problem with network provider or phone? - HD2 General

I have had my hd2 for 5 months now (orange)and have had this problem for 2 months. Yes its intermittant data connection. I find that when I am using HSDPA or GPRS its fine, but when data conection switches to 3G, data connection stops completely and I have to wait for connection to HSDPA or GPRS before web pages start loading again. It is very frustrating and is spoiling what I love about the phone. I have sent the phone to HTC and it is still the same. I have tried new ROMS but to no avail. Can someone explain:
1) IS this an issue with the phone or network providor(orange)?
2) Has anyone else had problem and found solution?
Any help appreciated

No GPRS/3G after signal lost

I know it is a known problem that many pocket pcs (I use an atom life) cant establish a data connection after a signal lost. I always have to disable and reenable the phone before it works again.
Does anyone have a workarount to solve this bug? Maybe some kind of script that toggles the phone off and off every minute if there is no signal!?
Thanks!!
I have this problem when i lost my H connection to G connection.
I can't connect than and have to reset my device/telephone connection to internet again.
Verry irritating when you are listing to internet radio in the train.
Please can somebody help us with this problem!
Unfortunatley as the data connection is sent from the same masts that provide you with your signal if you lose one, you lose them both I'm afraid

HSDPA Internet sharing / modem issue

With internet sharing, my Kaiser used connect to the internet (T-Mobile mobile broadband) without problems fro the past year. Now since I got the HD, my internet connection is inconsistent. Sometimes it tries to load pages for ages, then timeouts, and sometimes it works like a charm. I don't think it's because of the signal, because network coverage seems fine (nearly always at 4 bars with HSDPA).
Has anybody been experiencing something similar ? Don't really think it's a problem related to USB because when my internet connection doesn't work when connected via USB, I sometimes switch to bluetooth, and that seems to work for a while, then it fails again.
I also tried it on a PC with XP, and had similar problems. Any ideas ?
Thanks

Hey there,
I'm experiencing the exact same problem with my Touch Diamond ...
My internet sharing via usb has been working fine for months now until this this week. Now, since monday, connection times out, loads half a page, etc. i.e. exact same symptoms as yours.
Internet sharing via bluetooth works fine.
Need help PLEASE!!!
Cheers
[email protected] G
It lasted for a few days and since last week it's working brilliantly as it should. Maybe it was just a network issue ? Did you manage to get your connection to work again ?
I also think it's network related ...
It was working fine again for one day, then it just started acting up again.
I now use the bluetooth connection instead of USB. Seems to be much more reliable and for some reason I'm getting better speeds than via USB.
I always thought USB wud be much quicker.
If only our ISP can get their damn act together.
Thanx for the feedback ..
Cheers
Has anyone found a solution to this problem? I'm having the same exact issue with my Raphael.
Hey... my Problem is the Internet, Data Connection to works fine very fast.... but the Internet Sharing with computer doesnt work anymore since Yesterday... but i dont know why... i flash new ROM and Radio Yesterday soo maybe thats why...
I flash Duttys V2.1 and the 1.12.25.16 radio....
Is it at all possible to use internet sharing and activesync or use the phone as a modem while using active sync?

So far i know active Sync Closing if you use it as Modem...
So no Sync and modem at all? That sucks, worked great for ym old Nokia.
I have noticed the following problem:
When I use my HD as a modem it functions properly for about the first 15 minutes, then HSDPA icon disappear and remain fixed only 3G icon and the connection becomes very slow.
Similarly this happens even if I use my HD with built in opera browser; besides in this manner I notice that the memory usage increases: even if I stop the internet connection and I delete cache the memory usage remain high and it is necessary to perform a soft reset to fix it.
I've tried with another sim card and GSM operator; with HSDPA and HSUPA enabled and supported by the operator, but I've experienced the same problems.
If I use my old USB or express card wireless modems I have no problems and the connection is always very fast
A ROM upgrade by HTC to solve once and for all this problem will be appreciated !!!

GPRS Connection dead after ROM update

Hi guys.
I just tried flashing Duttys Leo Multi-Lang V1.1 ROM.
Actually I decided to sync my contacts before flashing but the GPRS connection wouldn't work then. I didn't think too much into it since I had just used it a couple of hours before without problem, and though it was some soft reset issue or something.
However, I tried flashing to the rom and the procedure went without any trouble. But I can't get my GPRS connection to work anymore. I tried flashing back to stock 1.48 which didn't work either, and after that I flashed back to the original stock 1.43 roms.
No matter what I do I can't get internet and my GPRS to work anymore.
I tried putting my simcard in my old SE P1i and I could connect to the GPRS and surf the net without any issues.
This leaves me to think no other than that something has happened to my beloved HD2.
I now have 1.43 ROM and I uninstalled the HSPL, so I don't think there should be any issues sending it in for repair, but I wanted to check with you guys before. I rather not send it in
Any ideas?
I've had exactly the same problem and just reported it to HTC. My battery almost ran flat yesterday but I didn't pay attention and just assumed that I'd left something running. I soft reset the phone and put it back on the charger for a few hours, took it off and then left it overnight. When I went to use the phone again today the battery was completely dead. I charged it up again and then left it to see how quickly the battery was discharging. I noticed that the phone thought I was in the Punjab but didn't realise that I didn't have an internet connection because the taskbar said I was connected via HSDPA. I ended up doing a hard reset as I assumed the battery problem must be software related.
After the hard reset I noticed that I didn't have an internet connection but assumed that it was an aberration and connected via WiFi to set the phone up again. To cut a long story short, I eventually realised that I could only connect to the internet via WiFi despite the fact that the taskbar still said I had an HSDPA connection. I tried a couple of hard resets and even reflashed the ROM to 1.48 but whatever I do I can't connect to the internet through my phone provider. I can make calls and I can connect via Wifi but I can't connect via HSDPA.
I don't know why this happened really, but after trying this and that it worked out for me.
What I did was, I turned off the 3G and tried to surf through G only.
That worked, then I tried to turn on 3G and surf and it also worked again.
I then tried to do a soft reset and tried to surf and again, it didn't work.
So I turned of 3G and tried to surf on G which worked, and when turning back to 3G I could again surf.
Ofc it would be lame to be forced to turn off 3G and surf 1 time before one can surf on the 3G every time one does a soft reset, but for some wierd reason it works now without the need of turning 3G off.
I hope this can help you a bit and hope you get ur mobile working well soon again!
Thanks umiss. Out of interest, how do you force the phone to only connect via GPRS?
My problem is getting weirder and weirder. It turns out that I can connect to the internet via HSDPA when I'm at work but not when I'm at home or around my home. This is despite the fact that my phone still says that I have a strong HSDPA connection at home.
I also tried popping my SIM card into my old N95 and I have no problems connecting to the internet with that The only thing that's giving me a bit of hope is that my partner's SIM card (she's on the same network as me) struggled to connect to the internet in my phone too so I'm hoping that it's related to a network problem in my area.
I only have G/3G connection so GPRS is the only choice for me to connect to the internet. (Or maybe I mixed 3G and GPRS being the same?)
Anyhow, I connect through my 3G connection.
It's weird why this problem happened, and how it by itself solved (maybe me switching to G instead of 3G helped but I don't really know).
However, regarding your problem.
You say that you don't have any problem connecting to internet (through HSDPA I presume) with your N95? But if you connect with your HD2 it doesn't work.
Furthermore, with your friends SIM it also doesn't work with your HD2.
This obviously sounds like theres an error with the phone rather than the network?
Specially since it worked with your N95. Could you maybe try your friends sim in your N95 to see if it works?
But then again, how weird isn't it that your phone works well at work :S
Did you try forcing your phone to go into GSM to check if internet works?
Please try this and keep me updated, I would really like to know if this somehow helps solving this "problem" :S

3G/Data Connection stability

Hello,
anyone has the same problem as mine? And maybe a fix
My problem is the stability of my 3G data connection. Sometimes it just hangs which means that it indicates that it is connected to 3G but when I try to sync my mail or browse to a page, it doesn't show anything and it timesout as it seems not to be connected.
I disconnect my data connection and connect again to fix the problem. I experience the problem when I leave my phone on standby for sometime.
If I have Opera running in the background, I have to exit it and start it again after the restarting data connection to be able to browse!!!
Anybody experience the same problem and maybe has a fix?
I sorta had this issue, but the phone kept switching from 3g to HDSPA and back again, not loading the web page during. So i disable HDSPA to force it only 3g. I dunno if if this is whats happening to you, but hey worth a shot no?
Where?
Where can I disable HDSPA ??

Start - Settings - Connections - Advanced Network
The tab that comes up, click on the drop down list and choose disable. Soft reset and see if your connection stabilises
thx
thanks, will try that
i Already try that but the problem persist i´m going to try with a diferent radio
I have this issue too, Its been on the last 3 radios I have used. Going to update to the latest one tonight
Have you guys tried disabling the proxy?
Settings - Connections - Connections
You will have your internet settings, and then My Work Network. Under your internet settings, click Edit my proxy server, and uncheck This network uses a proxy server to connect to the internet.
However the proxy server that already in there will dissapear, so write it down. But oddly, on my device, i cant edit it. i dunno, i guess if something goes wrong, just run the connections setup again.
This is a known issue without a solution at this point.
Here's the main thread discussing it, 30+ pages of trial & error:

seems working

I posted it early up. read the thread dude it only disables hdspa, its not the same as the 3g switcher in the comms manager, that turns off 3g entirely
to the OP, glad it worked however, my internet started workin a few weeks later with hsdpa, could be due to a better radio that i flashed. so if u flash a new radio, hdspa might still work better so be sure to test it out!

[Q] Roaming Signal

Hi all
Im having problems with signal when Im roaming. the network picks up that is Orange/T-Mobile so its using a T-Mobile singal but i cannot send or connect to anything. Previously on Android and WinMo6.5 it has been fine. I have run the HTC connection setup but this doesnt help. Anyone have any ideas ?
I'm also experiencing a similar problem but I think mine relates to my general mobile data connection, absolutely nothing there? - no wifi = no internet, can you confirm if you have GPRS at all ?
