TP2 battery - myTouch 3G Slide General

Just for kicks, I tried my Tmo TP2 battery in the Slide and sure enough it fits, though the TP2 battery is a tiny bit 'taller' so the cover doesn't close entirely.....just a little gap on the sides.
The TP2 battery is a 1500 compared to the Slides 1300..so if you need a replacement battery and you have a TP2, then you can pop it in and use it if needed.
I didn't leave it in for long so I don't know if it would cause any problems....just letting everyone know it's almost the exact same size and fits right in.

I did the same. Done with day one and no isues. Way better battery life to. I would say about twice as good. I hope it doesn't kill the recharge circuit though.

Nice to know! Going to look into one as a back up now if theyre cheap enough on ebay. Is the problem with the case that its taller or thicker? post up some pics if u guys can of it in with the back housing on

If the batteries are lying down flat, then the TP2 battery is a hair 'taller'....maybe i should have said 'deeper'?

Haha I'd consider that a bit thicker or fatter lol but I get the picture now.. sounds good I found one in my area for 10 bux I'm going to be ordering soon, maybe some light modding can be done to the housing and battery to get them to coexist perfectly.

no way, dude.......go to Tmobile, buy a new TP2.....remove the battery....throw the phone out the window....then you have your battery!!!

Good one. We've finnaly found a use for a WinMo phone. I will get a better estimate of battery life today and post up.

Well, I was hoping for a little better but I am figuring about 12% better battery life over the course of a normal day for me.

i see that battery is also the same one that's used in the Evo. that battery sure gets around!

Trade Mogul for Touch

Well after having my mogul for a year with only minor problems, it seems that it has finally gone somewhat haywire. The battery barley lasts half a day, my buttons seem to have stopped fuctioning, and I am getting tired of the limited free RAM. So I have decided to switch to the htc touch because it is not a necesity for me to have wi fi or a keyboard. Only thing I am going to truly miss is the flash on the camera, it was such a great flashlight. But anyway, does anyone know if it is possible for me to trade my mogul for a touch, instead of a new mogul, I have the Total Equipment Protection plan, and the price of the touch is considerably lower than the mogul (the price of the touch was recently changed to 99$ after instant savings and rebates). So does anyone know if it is possible to do so.
Thanks
BTW I am on Sprint.
Why not wait until the Diamond comes out? Much much better device.
I know that the diamond is better, but I really can not wait for it because the battery life has recently become so bad that I need to get it replaced. Honestly up until my batter stopped lasting a full day I was ok with the mogul, but now I really either need to get the battery back to normal, or switch to the touch. Any ideas would be helpful. The battery life change may have been caused by my completley killing the battery and fully chargin it twice, or my installation of pointui home.
I can't help you with the swap, but if it's the battery that's the issue...Ebay!
I agree, just get a new battery. I got the 1650mah OEM-size battery after using a year old stock battery, and noticed a huge difference.
I doubt Sprint would let you swap for free, so if given the choice of buying a Touch or waiting for the Diamond/Touch Pro, I would definitely wait.
about how much does it cost to get a larger capacity battery that does not make the device bigger?
Dude honestly, there are so many awesome phones coming out so soon and you don't want to end up getting a new phone that's already outdated. I say wait and just buy a new battery for now. That's how I feel right now.
check out www.seidioonline.com and select the 1650 mah battery, it's the same size as the stock one so it fits under the factory cover. Mugen puts out a stock sized 1800 mah battery and that's about 49.99.
I agree with everyone else - if it's the battery just get a new one and then the Diamond when it releases if you need a new phone.
Good Luck

I decided not to get a high capacity battery because I keep my phone in my pocket. The bulge from the hi capacity would just look awkward. So I chose to buy an external battery charger and a spare battery.
This is exactly what I bought. I love it! It comes with a spare battery for under $20 shipped. Later on, if you decide you want another battery to add to the mix, then it shouldn't be a problem. I have two of these set up. One at work, and one at home.

How do you like your charger and extra battery (after a month of use)? I'm considering one... can't beat it for less than $20.

it should be noted the extra battery in that auction appears to be an 1100mah model, which is significantly smaller than stock (although it shoudl be plenty to keep the phone going while you charge up the stock battery)
If you have the TEP with Sprint, just go in to your local Sprint store, and tell them your battery is going bad. They should give you another. i ended up with 3 batteries for my 6700, for that very reason. Knock on wood my Mogul battery is still holding strong.

2400mAh Extended battery for HTC Touch Pro

Hey, i've been looking around online for a good extended battery for the touch pro and i found this one: http://www.xell.hk/e/default_home.asp?url=http://www.xell.hk/e/product/product_detail.asp?sku=5456
So far this is the only battery i've seen over 1800mAh with a good looking battery door, and from the tiny pic, it looks like it doesn't have a protruding back. I'm most likely gonna try it out but was wondering if anyone else has before i do.
It does have a protruding back. if you look carefully the battery is thicker than the original and the backing on the picture is also a blank rubberish thing.
it doesn't look like it would stick out too much in my opinion, although i don't really care for the triangle design on the back plate.
so i guess no one has used one of these yet? i wonder how much better the battery life would be...
the picture makes the battery look awefully thin. Be wary of some of those chinese (hong kong) knock offs. I've found that even though they boast a large mAh they don't hold a charge very well.

htc rafael 2400 or mugen 3000 battery for fuze?

The $2400 is $21 on eBay and the Mugen is $80.
The Rafael obviously seems like the better deal. How can anyone justify an additional 600mAh for $60??
Has anyone used the Rafael and what kind of case did you get for your thicker phone?
Mugen 3000mAh
I'll bite; I sprung for the Mugen 3000mAh battery. I think it's great (it comes with it's own battery cover, and admittedly does make the phone significantly more bulky).
I'm not a typical user even for these forums. I routinely tether my laptop to my phone via bluetooth for laptop internet access (two thumbs up for unlimited data plans) and I actually get quite usable speeds (I'm using that setup right now). Plus, I can send and receive calls at the same time. Also, I've got two accounts in the Pocket Outlook, and I've got Flexmail 4 with about 6 or 7 email accounts that sync throughout the day. In addition to that, I use spreadsheets and word documents on it as well as voice calls. So, frankly, I'll take all the power I can get!
When I take it to the gym, I use my Seideio (sp?) 2000mAh battery because it's a lot slimmer and does great with by bluetooth headphones (and I use it as an mp3 player; I'm not one of those types that talks on their phone the entire time they're supposed to be "working out"!).
So if you have to have all the power you can get, like I do, it's not that big of a sacrifice in size for the extra 600mAh. It does make a difference late in the day. Just my $0.02 though.
Good stuff BPB21.
What kind of case do you use for the 3000, if any at all?
Thanks for your help.
Cases
That's an interesting question. Typically I just keep it in my coat pocket at work, or pants pocket otherwise without a case. I've got one of those "Invisible Shield" screen protectors that has protected it even from my cat's claws (touch screen wasn't meant for cats, but no harm done). So typically I don't use a case.
However, I was just looking for some kind of waterproof case, I mean completely waterproof, for when I potentially go rafting and/or rock climbing. I can't vouch for any yet, but I've heard good things about the "Otterbox" cases. I don't plan on actually using the device while in the water of course, but it might be necessary to keep it with me. I'm kinda compulsive about that with my phones. So, as for cases, that remains to be seen. I think the Seidio 2000mAh battery would fit most anything (I don't know about the 2400mAh, but I'm sure I'll own one soon) as it really doesn't add much size at all to the phone. As for the Mugen 3000 mAh, well, I don't know what that would fit in. That battery and case make the phone a total of one inch thick the entire length of the phone. The Seidio battery and cover only add about 1/8th inch thickness in a 1&1/2" width and 1&1/4th" length on the back of the phone.
Anyway, if I find something good I'll post here; but for everyday use just the screen protector works well enough for me.
IF anyone has any suggestions for this battery and a case, i'd be grateful and interested as well. the stock cover that comes from mugen is crap with a capital C. it keeps sliding off.
I 2nd that...
This is true; it is really easy to knock the Mugen cover off. The one saving grace about that cover's design is that even if the cover comes loose you don't necessarily take the battery with it (at least in my experience). I would be interested if anyone can find a cover that fits the 3000 mAh battery. (I mean, other than the submersible Otterbox cases - those fit, but you can't really use the device...)
The phone (with a standard battery fitted) just fits into an otterbox 1000, which is the cheapest one they do. I got the transparent one but the phone screen is obscured. I keep it in the box whilst I work outside, with a waterproof bluetooth headset. It's a tough box.

I've actually taken the phone skiing (well, I didn't buy it a lift ticket or anything). It was in my ski jacket pocket (and I tend to do runs more advanced than I am) and despite my sometimes dramatic falls the phone held up well. So it's a pretty durable device, but I wouldn't do that every day with it.
Speaking of that Otterbox - I was looking at the same thing and trying to measure it from the given inside dimensions. Which way does it just barely fit: length, width, or thickness? I would think the phone would be just a bit too long for the case, but hopefully not? And then, if I had the Seidio 2000mAh battery (which adds maybe 1/8" thickness, if that) installed would that fit as well?
Otterbox 1900
Hi. I own an otterbox 1900. I´ve used it a lot with my Axim and after that with my Eten m700. I took it rafting, dirt biking on the mountains and snowboarding many times. You can charge the device while in the box, and use the device while keeping it protected by a clear rubber membrane.
The Fuze fits easy inside, but I have the stock cover and battery.

I bought one, I have it and it makes your phone look like a brick. hey, the Battery will last days but it is just Huge.
Big batteries
I've got the 3000mAh battery (by the way, I saw the 2400mAh battery on eBay; how does its size compare with the 3000mAh battery?). I use my phone heavily, all day. I'll connect it with my laptop via bluetooth to use internet sharing, sometimes I'll be talking on the phone at the same time, and I heavily use email on the phone, plus Word and Excel files and internet browsing, plus occassional testing and configuring of wifi routers using the phone's wifi, all on a given day. I'm not always near a charger so for me I need all the power I can get, even if it is only an extra 600mAh.
On the other hand, people routinely ask me "what is thbat?" (or more accurately, "what the hell is that?") when they see my brick of a phone. So yeah, it does make it quite bulky compared to even the 2000mAh battery. But if you're a power user and need all the extra you can get then it is worth it.
I complained to the guys at nakedcellphone.com and the guy sent me a new cover for the Mugen battery, have to say, amazing service. I should have given them kudos weeks ago. The new cover for the Mugen does NOT slide off and is very good.
Now, I need a hard case for this thing. Anyone know of a place I can get one?

How is the new cover different? Shaped differently or just fits more snugly, or both? I got mine from them, and it may be too late for me to complain since I've had it for a while now, but do you think they'd send me one if I asked? I'd even pay for it (not $60 or howevermuch, but some) if the cover is that good.
The best "hard case" I've found is by Otterbox, but I don't think that's the kind you've got in mind.
Let me know the details on that different Mugen battery cover; I could use that.

I also saw that Mugen battery and drooled, but for $100... Amazon.com has a Cameron Sino 2400mAh battery for $20... 3000mAh is probably more a custom item to begin with, but a 600mAh increase for only $80?
I've used Cameron Sino batteries before -- never had a problem.
Good replacement case cover as well - it doesn't fall off...

Double capacity battery, new source in UK

Hi
I've just purchased and received one of these http://www.superetrader.co.uk/extended-battery-for-htc-touch-diamond-2200mah-p-4207.html
Only £10.00 so couldn't go wrong really. The back in my opinion is better than some others I've seen as it doesn't bulge out then in, but is flat apart from the recess for the camera.
The back cover is glossy and doesn't have the same quality paint job as the original which is perhaps to be expected however you can't tell unless you look hard, and you could always spray over it if you wanted to and have a matt finish. It fits perfectly.
I haven't given it a run yet to check the battery life time but it should be double what it is now.
Thought it might be of interest for UK owners.
Regards
Phil
Sounds very good... I like the fact that it doesn't add extra size or distort the shape of the device, as one would expect with a battery of such a capacity. As a result, although I already owned a 1350mAh battery, I ordered this one too.

Well, it is indeed interesting, but you are mistaken if you think that it does not add extra size: your d2 will be, judging from the pic, about 3 mm thicker. What the original poster meant was that those 3mm are constant over the whole backplate, it is not a bulge limitted to the battery. I think 3mm is acceptable, even if it mean it will not fit in any case :-(...
I'll wait a little bit to see if extended batteries fitting in the original backplate appear. Not 2 times the capacity obviously, this would not be physically possible, but a 1300-1400 mAh should be possible I think. Like your 1350 mAh for example Did you check the battery life compared to the original? improved, or not?
If not, this battery is an option
Well, I have a silicon case from PDAir, and my hope is that it can be stretched a bit to accommodate the extra 3mm... But even if it doesn't, I would still opt for the prolonged battery life against the case: My 1350 mAh battery is an improvement from the original, but nothing too spectacular. If for example I play games, or use the phone actively, I still have problems in making it through the day...
What I wouldn't like from a battery at all, is to seriously affect the size, or distort the shape of the device. But as far as I understand, this is not the case with this one... Who knows? It may even fit in my silicon case, as I mentioned earlier... We will know soon about that!
I think it's good to have a battery that lasts longer, but the bricks again no, it is better to have an extra battery and charger base.
This is the disadvantage of the MDA-Compact V. Overall a prettier phone than the vanilla TD2, but i'd give my back teeth for this battery...
Hi
The thinkness is more than 3mm extra, probably around 6mm, and I'd be quite surprised if a silicone case would stretch enough. As already mentioned I didn't mean the back was the same thickness as the original, just it was flat and uniform so didn't look as odd.
It does make the phone more brick like, I quite like it as it feels better to hold on a phone call, but will not be to everyone's taste, especially if you like slipping it into pockets. But for £10 it is quite a bargain if you really need the extra battery life time and apart from having a spare battery or a charging pack it is the best option available at the moment I think.
I expect the battery to last twice as long being twice the capacity. So far it's been on 100% all day even though I've had a couple of quick phone calls and sent and received a handful of text messages.
Case wise it will not fit a case designed for the Topaz, but now fits perfectly in a Tytn II case.
Regards
Phil

By the way, where did you buy your 1350 mAh battery?
Mine last exactly one day when I use the device a lot...Well, a lot for me: my typical heavy usage is not to use the TD2 constantly, nor playing much games...mostly I make a few pics, use the GPS a little and read ebooks a lot. I could theoretically empty my TD2 in less than one day... but in practice it has never happened, even if very close.
I think your 1350 mAh would suit me great, a little extra security and I will have the original battery as a backup when away from a plug for more than a day (typically, long plane trips...), this way I will not have to worry about saving my main battery to still be able to make an emergency call...
I think that given my use case, it would be better than this 2200 mAh, which is very nice, but too bulky for me :-/
I bought it from here:
http://www.amazon.co.uk/DIAMOND2-LONG-LIFE-BA-S360-COMPATIBLE/dp/B002AANPYG
Does the 1350 battery perform noticably better than the standard 1100?
As I said, nothing too impressive...
Just bought the 2200 mAh battery. The size is indeed bigger, and although the phone's shape is unchanged, it does bevome more brick-like. As some people correctly predicted in this forum, the silicon case cannot be used with this size (although if the size was marginally smaller, I think it would work, but anyhow this is just theoretical...).
I believe that the choice of a 2200 mAh battery is just a matter of personal taste: I personally vote for the extra hours that I use my device even if I have to sacrifice the small size, but then this is just me...
By the way, does anyone know if larger silicon cases exist in the market, which can accommodate the thicker TD2?
Hi
The double capacity battery is running great. It's odd as it seems to provide a lot more than double the run time of the original battery. I have to wonder if the original supplied battery is really providing the power it claims
Regards
Phil
Still satisfied with the 2200 mAh battery?
What about the back cover? Does it fit nicely? Getting looser since started using it?

Extended battery + one of a kind custom case

Check this out.
I had to buy the 3500 mah battery for my Vibrant. The stock battery would die before noon with minimal use on a stock rom. The only problem with the upgraded battery is that my awesome case I bought off ebay didn't fit anymore. So for the last six months my vibrant has been naked. I could only find one true case for the phone that would fit with the 3500 mah battery installed, and it was hideous.
Mulling over the problem I decided to just make a case for my phone. Nobody else was going to.
So I made one. Well I tried anyway. My idea was to cut one out of wood. I took two days and did the best I could. After the cutting was done and before the staining and finishing I took it to work to see if my buddy could take it home and bring it back with some better routing done on it. He had the tools. I had a dremel and a pocket knife.
He must have taken pity on me because he made this for me complete with a brass power button. I get it tomorrow.
That looks really big and uncomfortable. Lol. Why not just flash a battery saving ROM?

Is this supposed to be a joke? I haven't laughed as hard as I did when I saw that picture in a loooooong time!
You will probably need some shoulder straps so you can lug that thing around on your back.
Seriously though, that is some really sweet work your friend did on the case! I like to see others put their ingenuity to good use!
WTH! You just put a fat suit on a supermodel!
Damn good machine/press work there...A lil big for my tastes, but very well put together.
It's aluminum, so it shouldn't be too heavy. I don't think it's much bigger than an iphone with an Otter box on it. I get it back today. I just hope it doesn't destroy the reception.
All the holes that need to be there are there - mic, jack, usb, camera, speaker, and the buttons are functional.

I laughed too, by far that is the worst thing I've ever seen. Easy tip for you.. look up fiberglass molds, its so easy to do, so cheap.. same concept you could build a nicelightweight speaker box.. some nice paint and clearcoat an it would look better than stock. I guess with you it is all about function at ANY cost(even I have limits)..
The simplest explanation would be you NEED a non stock rom, or more likely three is something wrong with your stock battery(likely) or hardware(depends what you get out o that brick of a battery)
New battery with a stable rom, underclocked with the most recent kernel to save battery life an you should get 12 hours with really heavy use

Edit: I wanted to modify my opinion, it is creative, may be functional.. but you can make a better finished product that will clip right on cheap and easy for a few Google searches.. my 2¢

Signal is unaffected. It IS big, but I like it. It's just a little bigger than an iPhone with an otter box. Size wise it's 1/4 inch wider and taller than stock, and 0.08 thicker now than it was with the extended battery (0.03 on top and 0.05 on bottom). I can't post pictures because my only camera at this point is my vibrant. It's hard to tell scale by the original picture. It looks bigger than it actually is.
Someone mentioned cost. My friend charged me only for materials - $14
I figured there were going to be haters/critics. There always are. The good thing is that there is only one of these - mine - and as a consequence only one person has to like it; me. And I do.
Minus the screen, which has a protector, the phone is near bullet proof.
