[Solved] Need help flashing Chinese ROM (Solution Found!) - HD2 General

Hi All,
I recently bought a US T-mobile HD2 1024LEO and here's the factory specs:
SPL-2.10.0000
OS 5.2.21892
Manila 2.5.20121412.2
Rom 2.13.531.1
Radio 2.10.50.26
Rom Size 1024MB
I would like to flash the official Chinese ROM I found in the XDA-China site:
xda-china.net/viewthread.php?tid=59333&extra=page%3D1%26amp;filter%3Dtype%26amp;typeid%3D1
It is: LEO/HD2_RUU_2.13_21905_CHS
How do I find out if this would work with 1024LEO? I tried running this RUU without installing HSPL2_1024. I went thru each step and when it came to the % completion page, it just stayed there, and nothing happened after that. I disconnected it, and restarted my HD2.
Do I need to downgrade my ROM first to 2.08, then flash HSPL2_1024, then flash this Chinese ROM? I want to make sure before I accidentally brick this new phone.
Your feedback is greatly appreciated.

512 or 1024LEO
My biggest concern is whether the ROMs, whether it be Chinese or other language, are specifically designed for 512MB or 1024MB ROM Size LEO's. Can you use it to flash both machines? Can you accidentally brick the phone because your phone is 1024 and the ROM was designed for 512?
Thank you.

Don't think you can flash that ROM to your T-Mobile US HD2. It might brick your phone. You are correct in assuming that 512 Leo ROMs will not work at all on 1024 versions. I do not know of any Chinese language based T-Mobile US ROMs, however that does not mean that none exist.
~Jasecloud4

you can't flash this rom....it's a 2.13 rom......most of 2.10 rom are safe to use.
I flashed 100 chinese rom to my TMUS LEO.....never bricked..

going on version number alone (2.13) you would assume you could flash it, however considering there are no other non tmous roms that work, it's almost certainly not worth the risk. PLus, you didnt say what radio version it comes with. Its the radios that kill tmous more than the roms, you should be really wary of flashing this rom in my opinion.

My HD2 now running official Chinese ROM 2.13
THIS IS A REVELATION!
I successfully flashed the Chinese ROM that I stated in my 1st post. After careful thinking and examining the official Chinese ROM, I decided to take the plunge and risk bricking my phone. Well, guess what? I was very happy to see the phone boot up and now the entire OS is in Chinese (simplified) language!
Here are the steps I did:
1. I downgraded my phone from OS 2.13 to 2.10 (using USB; no Sd card needed)
2. Installed HSPL2_1024
3. Flash HD2_RUU_2.13_21905_CHS
That's it!
This is my current specs now:
OS 5.2.21905 21905.5.0.93
Manila 2.5.20121225.0
ROM 2.13.531.1 90963 CHS
ROM Date 5/28/2010
Radio 2.08.50.08_2
Protocol 15.34.50.07U

good news.

Can anyone give a link to download HD2_RUU_2.13_21905_CHS ?
Thanks.

That's Simplified Chinese ROM, I'm looking for Traditional Chinese Rom.
It should be in CHT, not CHS.
Thanks for the effort though! It's almost impossible to find a Traditional Chinese WM6.5.5 Rom that is compatible with tmous HD2 : (

ahh well thats the version the OP gave in post 1. I think you will be waiting for someone to cook a custom job.
I really doubt htc/tmo will release it in a different language.

Why is it available in chinese simplified and not in Traditional? *puzzled*
I've installed the Asian font support .cab file, I'm looking for a programme that can allow me to change my regional setting to "Taiwan" so that I can get the Manila menu in traditional Chinese.
Please help!

Flashing T-Mobile HD2 with Asian Language supported ROM

Hi, new member here. Just bought my T-Mobile HD2 about 4 days ago.
First I want to say a big thank you to all the mods/senior members/and contributors for creating such a wonderful forum and resource centre for the HD2.
I've read most of the stickied threads and noob guides, but before I get started with flashing my T-Mobile HD2, there are some concerns and questions I wish to clarify:
My T-Mobile software specs (completely stock, purchased on the 24th Apr 2010) :
OS version 5.2.21889 (21889.5.0.87)
Manila Version 2.5.20121412.1
Rom version 2.10.531.1 (82076) WWE
Rom date 02/22/10
Radio version 2.08.50.08_2
What I wish to do to my T-Mobile HD2 :
1) SIM unlock the phone so I can use any carrier/SIM card from any service provider, anywhere around the globe, since I'm a frequent traveller.
2) Traditional Chinese support, more specifically Taiwanese language support. I have loads of files in Traditional Chinese and having the Asian language support is my top priority.
3) Flash the T-Mobile HD2 to the original HTC Taiwan rom, but retaining the full 576mb ram and 1gb Rom spec. OR Source some cooked rom that contains Traditional Chinese support (Trad Chinese = Taiwanese) that is compatible with the T-Mobile HD2 spec.
So.... from my understanding, based on the stickied threads on this forum, I need to perform the following :
1) Flash HARDSPL
2) Flash the appropriate rom (Which I can't find, I tried everywhere)
3) Flash the appropriate radio (Not sure if its 100% necessary)
4) Hard reset
Am I going on the right track? Please advise, and thanks in advance.
Bump.
A language pack would do the job, I don't really have to flash my phone to a traditional chinese rom.
Any idea where I can source such language pack? I googled everywhere but can't seem to find a T-Mobile compatiable pack.

Its a good job you havent found an official taiwanese rom, if you flash that rom (should you find it) you will kill your phone.
Your phone can ONLY support the tmous offical 2.x rom, or cooked roms based on that 2.x rom.
The taiwanese rom, should you find it, will:-
1 - be version 1.66 (probably) so wont run
2 - will include a radio, almost certainly a ..51.. radio - result? bricked phone.
Your best option is a tmous compatible cooked rom with the correct language.
no, what I meant was to extract the font from the taiwanese rom. I've been doing some googling and digging on various forums, apprantely you can get a language pack installed, but the links are dead : (
http://ricky119.com/chinesesupport/
Search for "MS Arial unicode font". It's what that website fonts are based on. Be warned that it is a whopping 22 Mb since it is a full Unicode set.
Having the font installed allows you to read Chinese. It will not change the entire wm 6.5 menu into that language.
Also, It does not integrate into the current keyboard software. For Chinese input, you still need something like the one I suggested in my earlier post.

Possible? HD2 (T-Mobile US) to European German ROM

Hi guys!
I haven't been around for a while since I had non-HTC devices, yet, I just got me a US HD2 from T-Mobile. Does anybody know if I could flash it with a German (or unbranded official WWE ROM) without bricking the device? Or better: did somebody try this already successfully?
I just would like to get it up and running in my home language (and also get rid of the T-Mobile Start Animation). Back in time, I never had any issues flashing a US MDA version with European ROMs, yet, I know this has changed due hardware differencies.
Any input would be appreciated.
its not going to happen.
if you flash any non tmous based rom will cause the phone to to hang at boot.
if the rom you attempted to use also included a radio (example stock 1.66 wwe rom) then the included radio would brick your phone.
the best you can hope for is a tmous based rom with german language included.
go look carefully through the tmous rom development section.

Rom 1.66.407.1 radio 2.07.51.22_2

Hello all,
i dont know if im in the right forum if not please excuse me.
I have some question about the 1.66.407.1 Rom and the 2.07.51.22_2 Radio.
I bought a HD2 with these Rom and Radio already installed on it, if i go to the HTC support site i only can download the 1.66 rom with 1.72 radio. Is there any way to get the combination above (1.66.407.1 and 2.07.51.22_2)? I want to try the white GTX theme but if anything goes wrong i cant flash back to default rom and radio.
I found a page which is offering:
RUU_Leo_HTC_GER_1.66.407.1_Radio_CRC_Signed_15.32.50.07U_2.07.51.22_2_Ship.exe
and
RUU_Leo_HTC_GER_1.66.407.1_Radio_15.32.50.07U_2.07.51.22_2_Signed_LEO_Ship.exe
but which do i need the CRC signed or not? And what does CRC signed mean?
Thanks in advice

The links you referred are for german Language. and to install any other Stock/Custom rom on your Hd2 you must have hspl2 installed on it first. check out for your choice of rom from many chef's available here. and flash it Simple using USB Sync process.
And if you want to go back to your stock rom . Then make a dump of your stock rom and flash it thru SD card. it will restore your hd2 OS back to the state as it comes from factory with original SPL.
for more information Search Forum.
Note: Installing Rom with Spl 2.10 or above( if any in future )Thru SD card will make your hd2 Lock to SPL 2.10 only. You Cannot Degrade SPL version. TRY ONLY USB. it is better and Good option to flash.

Read the stickys in the ROM Development forum.
Look here it tells you everything. Try to use the search function to find the answers to your questions, this topic comes up too often and people will usually flame you for not even looking at the stickys in the relevant forum.
Really sorry for posting in the wrong section but I did check that thread and that's how I learnt how to HSPL. What I don't know is which version of ROM should I get? I did check the various threads and there I found some official ROMS. I would like to know whether the official ROMs will work on my HD 2 using HSPL.

If you have HSPL installed you can use any offical ROM, but you may well have to be mindful of the radio you have installed, flashing an incompatable ROM/radio combo will not do you any favours. T-Mobile US devices use a different radio than the international devices so flashing a US ROM without having a US radio will lock up your device.
Are you planning on flashing a custom ROM, or official ROM from your network provider?
I am currently downloading the official ROM I found in one of the threads. It says 1.66 - Test Rom (english).
This one to be precise - "World Wide English - TEST rom (WWE) 1.66.405.1 - Direct Link"
Is it ok and will it work with Radio 2.05.51.05_2

Have a look here, I don't like the sound of a 'Test ROM'. Your radio will be compatable with all of those 1.66 ROMs.
Thanks for the link.
I see a more later version of ROM there. I would like to install 2.02 version of ROM as I guess it would be the better than the 1.66 one and hence won't require a lot of updating. When I click on the 2.02 version, I see only 1 link inside that folder. Should I just click on that link for the download to start? And what about the radio version? Is my radio version okay for the 2.02 version?
i should stay away from 2.02 too. in fairly sure that too is a test ROM. u think it even has a watermark.
if you want the latest, why not go for the tmous 2.13 rom?
So which one do you suggest I should download?
I mean are you sure 2.13 will work with my radio version?
And one more thing, when I go to 2.13 ... it says 0 files in the location?

You will have to update your radio to use that ROM. It's a T-Mobile US ROM. I am not too sure if the radio comes bundled with the ROM when you flash an official ROM as I only flash custom. But to be on the safe side flash a radio from here before you flash the ROM. You need to make sure the radio is a 2.07.50.27 NOT a 2.05.51.05_2. It doesn't matter what radio it is aslong as it's a 2.xx.50.xx and not a 2.xx.51.xx, .50 radios are for T-Mobile US ROMs, which is what the 2.xx ROMs are.
I think I will download Radio 2.10.50.8_2 ... I just have to click on the rapid share link, download it ... run it and connect my HD 2 with WMDC to install the radio right?
Also, please suggest how to get the 2.13 rom as there are no files in that folder.

To be honest, if you are going to flash a ROM, I would probably advise trying a custom. That 4shared link doesn't seem to have many decent 2.xx ROMs. I am not too familiar with official ROMs and which is good/no so good.
I am very biased toward Energy ROMs if you click my sig it will direct you to the page, there are many other fantastic ROMs about Artemis is another. Custom ROMs are lighter and much faster than stock ROMs and are obviously installed in exactly the same was as the offcial.
Okay fine, please check as I have sent you a private message. I will download custom ROM only now. Would really appreciate if you help me out through chat.

Yes you should download from the Singapore page as the ROM at the HK site is for CHT whereas Singapore is either CHS or WWE.
I've have been running the HK 1.72.831.1 ROM for ages, then i decided to flash to this ROM, been using it for the last week, and for my HD2, this ROM is a pile of sh*t
issue's i've dicsovered so far
1. issues with launching video from album view, issues range from no video playback, to radio buttons disappear at bottom of screen....never had these issue wth 1.72.831.1 when playing the same videos
2. consumes lots of RAM ( 80-90 % ), compared to 1.72 ( 40-70ish% ), so much so that applications will fail, intermittant usage of opera for example.
It's a pitty, cause overall this ROM is much more responsive, and the radio seems more responsive too ( eg enable/disable wifi etc... )
Looks like i'll be rolling back to 1.72.831.1

Sir like mention almost everywhere; Stock ROM 3.14 isn't compatible with HSPL!
You need to remove HSPL before installing stock ROM 3.14! If you don't do it the above mentioned problems are normal!

Hi,
I just wanna share my experience.I just flashed the Stock ROM after many times consideration. I felt that no increase in term of speed [I used to flash Energy as a benchmark of ROM speed ] I mean it was slower than any cooked ROM. So I decided to go back to Cooked ROM. Now, I am using Carnage HD v.4.2 which is faster than the stock ROM.
In flashing the stock ROM, I had to remove HSPL2 by way of running HSPL2 from my PC (Win XP Pro SP3) and choose SPL 1.66. I succeeded, then I flashed the stock ROM also from my PC.
In flashing back to Cooked ROM, I use SSPL. First attempt, my PC got crashed (BSOD), I wasnt sure the reason of which. The second attempt, I succeeded.
Now I have SPL 3.03 in my HD2. I read that few users reported that they can downgrade the SPL. I am not sure whether it is safe. I need time to think about it.
Cheers....

You can downgrade your spl version from 3.03 by flashing a older stock Rom.

Thanks for the info . How did you do it, by SD card or active sync method?
Cheers...
After I flashed this ROM to my phone, upgrading it to any Artemis ROM via SSPL would load HSPL 1.42 instead of 3.03. Also, I've had problems with Artemis ROMS after flashing to this stock ROM, such as stuck on HTC boot screen or soft reset becoming hard resets. Could it be a problem with the HSPL? How do I make sure that it loads HSPL 3.03 when flashing Artemis instead of 1.42?

Sir if you take some time to read the installation instructions on the Artemis Rom thread you will see that you need to remove HSPL if you used 3.14 stock Rom based Rom's.
HSPL isn't compatible with stock ROM 3.14!!

Both are possible (only be sure you flash the right stock Rom (related to your aria/branded/unbranded device)

I have never installed HSPL. All I have had are stock Roms. How do I remove HSPL? I've already done a stock rom reflash.
