Trackball is flashing different colors! - Nexus One General

AIM- Red
AndroidandMe- Blue
Any thing else?

Astrid Tasks - Yellow

tweets - cyan

I can report that Sipdroid flashes red when it can't connect. So basically it's flashing all the same colours that the Milestone/Droid LED does with the same apps.

Facebook - blue

handcent - SMS > set to red !

Wow guys, this stuff is cool.. Has all of this come about since froyo or is this old news?

For rooted users, this is incredibly old news. You could also consider it old news for Froyo, since users should have discovered last week..

Oh ok, last question. Is there a setting where it shows what all the colors are and they they are associated with?

Oops double post.

No, there is no setting for the question you asked, it all depends on the application.

Oh alright, thanks.

Yeah this is old for root users. I miss the root feature. But I've been on froyo since day 1 and my trackball was always white. But today its different.

Let's hope developers take advantage of the 2.2 SDK that's been released and give us the options needed to change the colors to what we users see fit.

Using Gmail Notifier (new version) from market you can set the trackball to different colors for each gmail account....

SMS pop up allows you to change sms color
K9 email 'seems' to go magenta

I like the gmail notifier, and "blink" which allow you to set colors. But are there any apps (for non-rooted froyo phones) that allow different colors to display in succession, ie one for an e-mail and one for an SMS without replacing the previously displayed color?

google voice is now green... it is the only one I have noticed thus far...

I am suprised none of the devs have crapped their panties yet since it just got released a few mins ago.
This could be good...for the vogue...

Do want though. Do want.
Well I have it booted on vogue. Not much added just a new lock screen like you see in the sholes video some different icons, new square dialer buttons,
Like 1.6 there will probably be terrible app availability.
I wouldn't mind testing out a plane-jane 2.0 ROM if anyone is up for uploading it
I've learned to live without apps ever since the Market stopped working.

yeah because the SDK was just released today it will take a little while for developers to update their apps and create new ones. But the 2.0 market isn't even out yet either so there is NO app availability at this time lol. But once hte Droid is released I bet there will be a spike because so many more people will be using Android once it's on Verizon so more developers as well

It's an issue with our devices and other unlock phones from what I can tell. If i log in with a new "virgin" gmail account, then the donut market has tons of apps. if i setup with my standard gmail account that has been using 1.5 as well, i get almost no apps. the only work around is a new gmail account.

[Q] Rooted the X, now what?

I know this has probably been asked before...but I'm a noob and couldn't find anything in the search.
I've rooted my Froyo X using doroot just for the wifi tethering. I want to know what other uses there are for a rooted phone.
Can I change the notifications so they're unique to the event? I get the same sound for a text and when I plug in the cable.

First check out the Droid X Wiki for some nice guides and info on what you can do with your newly unlocked device.
And to answer your last question... you can do that without being rooted. Just go into any app that sends you notifications.. and in the settings of THAT app... you can change which notification sound it plays when that particular app notifies you.

Ok, I have to give you that. The default WM 6.1 was a HUGE pain
It was much better after upgrading to WM 6.5.3

Could we please stop asking "why?"

I have been a long time xda'r and Android fan boy ever since I got my G1 on launch day. The phone I had before my G1 was a iPhone and I did love that phone.....till my G1 and haven't looked back since.
One thing that really kinda peeves me is when someone asks a question like "how do I install the stock launcher" and you see people respond with "Why would you want to get rid of TWLauncher?" One of the beautiful things about android is the deep level of customization you can do.
Dont like your back ground: Change it.
Dont like the stock mms app: install a different one.
Dont like the notification bar color: Use metamorph and install a different one.
You have your tastes and preferences, but yours isn't the only one. If there was only one way to think, we would be asking Steve

I like the stock dialer but wish it had the contacts tab like the asop roms. I think the asop roms should also support the ##Code# aka epst codes. Keep in mind that, even if they have themed it, you can install the basic apk and that will get rid of the theming.

lol. i dislike transparent... i don't get it... all it does is take up more processing power. I have to agree on this one.
True it does... but the green stands out to much on a darker rom
if you like the color or don't want your market to change use Titanium backup to freeze the market updater 1.0 . This will not affect the market but stop it from randomly updating.
Yeah, this happens a lot because the market is updated so often. It's a shame because I really liked the market theme that came with myns ROM...
I really like the transparent market because I like seeing my lw behind it. That aside though it urks me that Google forces these updates without warning and a changelog. I'm sure I could go digging for the changelog but they (Google) could also post it when the market updates.
For some reason I just don't like things being updated on my phone without me initializing it. I'm sure that somewhere in market's "terms and conditions" it states that they have the right to update your software without telling you, but it's still annoying.

Just freeze it in tt backup to stop updates. if its a big update you want thaw out and apply update

Facebook contacts sync only available with friendcaster for AOSP roms

So I recently flashed a new AOSP rom and to my surprise I could no longer add a facebook account under the accounts option. After doing some more research I found that Google has "switched" it off so it will no longer let you add a facebook account.

Only reason i liked it was cause there picture would pop up without me having to do anything but nothing i can live without
Think it has anything to do with them trying to integrate G+ more and have people use that to sync contacts ? I don't personally use G+ but do like Facebook pics in my contacts..

There's two types of Friendstreams. There's one on Sense roms that I like and works flawlessly without the annoying notifications. Then there's another one from the market that does have annoying messages. On aosp roms you have to use the one from the market. The notifications don't always start doing that right away but after awhile they do. It's a bug in the app itself. Stop acting like I don't know WTF I'm talking about!

Yeah when I do run sense it works great. Edited OP for AOSP roms!
Facebook contact integration hasn't worked for me properly for a long time on AOSP. But this integration works fine on Sense.
Side note: One thing I learned when I worked at Facebook is that Google HATES Facebook.
Unrelated: I also noticed that Waze isn't as good at getting a GPS lock on AOSP as it is on Sense. I think that's a bug in Waze though.
