Normally, if you cannot get connection via 3G, it's either due to the 3G network unavailability or the settings have changed (due to whatever reason, which do sometimes happen). Maybe you need to check the settings which must correspond to that set by the 3G network provider.

You can delete the program. ( settings - system - remove programs)
or if you want to retain the program, just delete the *.lnk file in directory \windows. This way you can only run the program from program directory/folder

Turn GPRS OFF!

Hello,
How do I turn GPRS OFF On an Xda Exec?
I have a successful WiFi connection set up to my Works Netork and I want to browse the internet via that. However, GPRS just will not GO AWAY & keeps on insisting that IT rather what I WANT is the route to the internet.
Hence I want it gone, nada, no more.
I can safely say that I will NEVER browse the net using GPRS or poxy WAP sites - excessively expensive crapola!
Thanks in advance,
Andy
i have same problem , plz help

and me! been searching but no luck yet!
not sure about 2005 but with 2003 i can just choose which connection i wanna use in connection->advanced
If you never going to use GPRS, just delete the settings:
Settings->Connections->Connections, under My ISP choose 'Manage existing connections', then long click on the GPRS setting (not sure what the name in your case will be, but it is probably the only one there) then choose delete.
You are now safe from GPRS charges.

there is not option to delete?
It is possible that on your phone the connection is set up under 'My work network', try checking there. Somewhere there should be a connection with your GPRS settings and you should be able to delete it.
i must be going blind, there is no option to delete, just edit or add
You are not going blind.
On the dialog it self there are two buttons 'Edit' and 'New'.
But if you tap and hold the connection it self (see little circles) you get a pop-up menu saying 'Delete' and 'Connect'.
It works on my Jamin, and it should work for you.

aaahhh now youre talking! ok i'll give that a go ta
oh bugger, ok thats worked BUT i thinki deleted my phone settings as now it cant find the network for calls, pratt, anyone got the setting so i can ut them back in, i dint reallt want to reset it after i got everything else working!
got it working now! ta
Same problem here, however I would like to use GPRS occasionally, so do not really want to delete the setting.
Example whilst at home, I want to use wi-fi, on the road GPRS.
Is there any tools that can turn GPRS on and off ?
Just press the E or G icon on the top bar and you should have the option to disconnect. That is, if you've enabled GPRS Disconnect in your registry. Works like a charm. Whenever I want to connect via WiFi, I just disconnect GPRS and fire up WiFi...

GPRS Connecting at startup!

Have searched for this and find nothing:
Whenever I restart my TyTn, GPRS connects automatically. I have not configured my email to check for mails at specific intervals. Please help me with this. Thanks!
I think your connection is configured as "always on". You can change it in the registry....

Indeed, or if you're not confident about changing registry use something like Tweaks2k2 to make the change for you along with lots of other little tricks.
http://www.tweaks2k2.com/portal/staticpages/index.php?page=20050224182009983
requires .net framework also downloadable on same page

You could try a less drastic approach:
Check:
Settings, Connection-tab, Connections, Advance-tab.
(hope this is correct, I don't have an english rom-version)
There you should be able to select which connection is automatically used. I have this on T-Mobile default connection since I have an unlimited dataplan and use direct-push.
When using the phone as modem, I have to switch this "off"/different setting eg. work connection to avoid conflicts.
Hope this helps

We like drastic, drastic is sooooo gooood!!
Seriously though the originator does not say he does not want to use GPRS only that he does not want it starting automatically. So the connection type maybe correct only it needs its bottom smacked for running off without daddy. We have ways in the registry to control such dis-respectful behaviour and baby Hermes must be punished or else get sent to bed with no active sync with Mummy.
Mike
Thanks for your help. I am quite comfortable with editing the registry. What specifically in the registry should I edit. Thanks!
EDIT: I already FOUND it! Thanks for the help everyone!!!

You need to reflash your phone with generic firmware
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=466404
I used the XA firmware, being American, it makes they keyboard map to $ and not £... trying to find a fix for that though...

I have flashed my phone with a generic rom (from Vodafone). If I install the WLAN fix cab, will it work? i.e. give me WLAN access for messenger? cos I dont want to screw any of my current settings up! On another point, will it give me WLAN access to emails etc?
Regards,
Alan
it did for me.
it will screw up ur settings a little bit. at least it will set another default connection for internet apps (my isp). but u can easily set it back to the old one.
then it used Wifi if its available. if not it did a GPRS connection for me. no matter what app i used.

Either the phone still has the default Vodafone ROM (in which you can't use Live on Wifi) or you have installed a new generic ROM (which can use Wifi).

The WLAN fix is just a load of registry setting changes, however it's for German Vodafone phone, so you will need to edit the APNs back to the UK ones.

Any idea what to put in to get my default please
I have the opposite problem. I can only connect to MSN over Wi-fi and not with the data connection. I'm on T-mobile but have a sim free uk X1. How can i get the messenger to connect when connected to t-mobile internet? I have web'n'walk included and msn not working defeats the object of why i got it! The opera browser works fine with the data connection... Please help! Thanks in advance.

Money for internet

Hi,
I have got HTC HD for 3 days and HTC instead of connecting via wifi is connecting by operator (paid internet). How to completely block paid internet?
Thanks!
You could call your provider and tell them to remove that option from your plan.
Modaco nodata works good...
also, under settings--connections---advanced, make sure that everything connects to work, and not isp
So I should choose ISP? What should I choose in this row? Or how can I break in opisons my connections to operator?

NOT isp
settings--connections--connections--advanced--select networks
both tabs should say "my work network"
any program trying to use internet will use whatever connection is available (in your case and my case, wi-fi).

But is it possible to block paid connection (only by mailing my opertor?)
I had the same problem. NoData works great as does HD Tweak... Try them both!

Yes, I used to have the same problem, as I'm one of the few who don't have data plans around here...yes sad...I know. I decided to call ATT and tell them to block all data, they told me that I would not be able to receive multimedia text messages, but I really didn't care. Anytime the phone tries to connect via 3G, it simply tells me that the connection is not available.

How to stop Facebook app to automatically open a 3G connection even when the WiFi connection is also ON?

you don't need anything. just read the manual
You could use the application "Data Controller", i have it installed cause this annoyed me aswell.
Data controller allows you to shut down any non-wifi signal your phone is currently transmitting (like the data link & wap etc.)

Thank you for the hint, but searching for it I found a new 'version' updated to work with Manila Windows Phone, called Manila Dial-up Enabler/Disabler.
Now what I do need, it is to find a way to use facebook through wifi/wlan ..
Has anybody already discovered how to have facebook using only wifi or activesync connections?
I will Copy/Paste the steps since new users cant post links
Prevent your phone from using the data connection when you want to ensure that it will never connect to the Internet via GPRS/3G.
On the Home screen, slide to the Settings tab and then tap Wireless controls.
1-Tap Menu > Connections and then tap Add a new modem connection.
2-Enter Offline as the name of the connection.
3-In the Select a modem list, select Cellular Line (GPRS), and then tap Next.
4-Enter Offline as the access point and then tap Next.
5-Tap Finish.
6-Tap Manage existing connections and then select Offline.
7-Press BACK and then tap Done.
Restoring the data connection:
1-On the Home screen, slide to the Settings tab and then tap Wireless controls.
2-Tap Menu > Connections and then tap Manage existing connections.
3-Tap the name of your mobile operator's data connection.
4-Press BACK and then tap Done.
Hope this will help
