Led notification or what ? 2 circles next to speaker - HD2 General

Ok when looking at the hd2 on top near the speakers the left side. , You will see 2 circles.
What are those ?
At first I though it was the notification led but after using it for more than 3 months I think , I noticed it does not light up or anything , and the light comes from the left side of the speaker it's self, which is not covered and gets dust in and everything

light sensor and proximity sensor....

Oh I see
Thanks

[Q] Status LED ?

I tried looking in the forum for any info on the status LED next to the speaker on the front side but I don't see any posts on this. Is this LED supposed to flash or do something? On my HD it has never worked? Is it supposed to work?
I remember on my Artemis it would flash green for good reception, blue for bluetooth and red if the battery was low.

I may be wrong but i was under the impresion that this was a sensor rather than a LED.
No, that's entirely correct, it is the light sensor. The LED is in the power button.
the status led is on the power button on the top right hand side of the blackstone...the place u highlighted is a sensor as what scotia has point out..
I think that it is a proximity sensor used to blank screen when you put the phone on your ear to talk.
It's actually the light sensor used for when you have automatic display brightness enabled. When it's dark, it turns down the brightness... And when it's a sunny day it cracks it up. I am not sure whether it's used to blank the screen during a call... This seems to happen after a period of time has elapsed.

ok thanks for the info.
So does the power LED on the top side flash any color to show the status of the reception or does it only light up orange when it charges?
Thanks.
doesn't do anything for reception..although mine flashes green hen I have a message/email/reminder
pity though, a decent LED to show such things was probably high on everyone's wishlist
No, the HD is perfectly unobtrusive. On my last PDA the LED had to be tweaked to stop flashing.
Too bad this isnt a LED diode Since I got on my Diamond a light notification (on the bottom of device)... when I recieved new sms... now on HD there is no way I can figure do I have new sms or notification unless I turn the screen on. The only hardware flaw by mine opinion
When its lying down, I agree with you. Then I have to turn on the screen. However when its lying next to me I'm usually not in a place were I can't use my phone, so the sound is on anyway.
I actually think its quite good the LED is on the top, it's easelly visible when the phone is in my pocket. I just have to pull the phone up a little and look down to see the LED (no need to get it out and turn the screen on). I like it on the top, nice and discreet, and not anoying me when I'm looking at the device while using it.
Perhaps a combination would be nice? Front and top That would sattisfy most people I guess...

What is second LED for in wildfire?

On front side, wildfire has two LEDs, on either side of phone speaker, on is for msg/call/charging and many, what is second for?

Hi,
On the Front one Led is the msg/call/charging etc, and the other is a sensor.
While calling someone,if you put the phone to your ear,it will go black as if it is switched on however if you pull it away from your ear it will wake up again. i think it prevents and keys being Unnecessary being touched / pressed..
but i`m not 100% sure
Hope that helps.
True, also light sensor is for automatic brightness.
no, on right of phone speaker there is one sensor as well as LED.
sensor is for all what you guys said, don't know what's second LED for.
I hope you're not talking about the camera flash..
On the left side of the speaker is green/red notification/charge LED. Two holes on the right side of the speaker are NOT LEDs, theese are sensors. The one closer to speaker is proximity sensor (locks the screen and turns it of during a call if it is close to your head) and the second one is light sensor (for automatic brightness) Install sensor list from market to test this
Thanks mate

Red Light on one of the Sensors

i just noticed when i awnsered my phone for a call one of the two sensors at the top(the one on the Left) turned a dim red light and went off when i hung up. What is that? Is it suppose to be a LED Notification Light like on other phones?
Probably the proximity light sense...the thing that turns the screen on and off when you put the phone on your ear and pull away. To my knowledge there is no led light on the phone oddly enough.

What exactly are all the sensors on the front?

There's the two blue-ish ones on the bottom and the one blue-ish one by the camera.....But what exactly are those? And what are the two just to the left of the top speaker? I'm sure one is probably a light sensor or something, but is one a flashing LED that has no purpose yet?
I didn't see it in any of the manuals or reviews online.
@tele_jas the Moto X has 4 Infra Red (IR) sensors. Detect motion so you can wave to make the screen light up.
The two you have circled are the ambient light sensor and the proximity sensor. The 3 small blue dots you see are the IR sensors that wake up the phone when you wave your hand over it, remove it from your pocket, or flip it over. Then to the right of the speaker is the front facing camera and flash.

Feint red glowing LED's in each corner next to speaker/microphone

Does anyone know what it means when you get feint red glowing LED's at the bottom of the display? There are 2 of them. One on each side near the speaker and microphone grills. Actually if I pass my hand over the phone the notification comes up and they go away for a moment than come back when the notification vanishes so I think they are to do with the sensor.
yeah, they are the infrared sensors, usually it is too hard to really see them light up, but it is possible

So it does have infra red LED's then. Shame they can't be used as IR blasters.
They are there for Moto's active display technology.
