Interesting feature of the EVO 4G - EVO 4G General

Saw this when I first plugged in the device, but never got around to taking screenshots until today. As far as I know, this is a new feature on the EVO 4G, but may just be a new feature of the 2.1 Sense interface. I last used the HTC Hero on 1.5, so I'm not sure.
Either way, there's this cool interface you're presented with when plugging in the phone - asking you what you want to do. This is very similar to the Palm Pre's options when plugging in. Upon further investigation, this is actually an "application" called PC Synchronization. Here's some screenshots:

had those options for 3 months or so on Hero.
PC Sync is just HTC Sync.

yes, it's quite easy with the Internet Sharing option

I 've had the same options minus 1 on my touch pro. Of course it was running a custom rom but still , nothing new .

Yep, same here on the Touch Pro 2. When you plugin, you are asked if you want to run ActiveSync, Disk Drive, or Internet Sharing. This is on the mostly stock ROM.

very old option for rooted hero users =P

So, the question is, for an EVO, does the USB Internet Sharing cost anything? I never saw anything about it or was offered/requested to pay for "tethering", only the $30 wifi hot spot.

you will get error 67 on both "internet sharing" and the "mobile hotspot" apps on the stock rom and with most rooted roms... it can be hacked tho, i know because it was done on the hero

It is the memory requirements for this application that has forced the company to discontinue any new versions/updates and provide the last one for free without any support.
They stated "at this point in time WM devices can't handle the next level we want to take our software. So instead of producing an application that does not meet our standards we have decided to pull it from the market"
Perhaps more of an excuse for the software developers not being able to work within the constraints of current PDA limits- who knows.
Right you are... eats up about 6mb of memory. But still I enjoy showing it off to my buddies. I'm not sure if this can be installed and run from a storage card. Will do tomorrow.
Hey, if you want your PDA to look like Windows, use Windows

Have you tried to create a webpage from the screen of the PDA??
I would actually make use of your TSC program had I a suitable device- unfortunately still stuck with JAM- no point of term. services via bluetooth!
Wouldn't mind having one of those up and coming mini-tablet style devices that are due to run the full blown version of XP though.
I'd like to have an OQO or something Unfortunately even the Universal's screen becomes too much work on the eyes after a while. Such a dilema: want a big (VGA) screen, want a small phone. Not gonna happen.
I don't think I'd like an OQO day to day, but nice in bed. But yes, VJFullscreenTSC could be used to write webpages from the Uni.
As I understand it, Experience is a flash app isn't it?

Can anyone post the Hero's internet sharing USB drivers for XP?

The hero does not support internet sharing. netiher does the magic or the G1.
Are you thinking of Windows mobile devices??
what is this option for?
settings--wireless controls -- mobile network sharing (at the bottom)
To enable mobile network sharing, please plug in the cable?

You just need to download and install the HTC Sync from this page:
http://www.htc.com/hero/m/en/downloads/htcsync.html
the last 2 lines of the install instructions states:
(During the installation, a modem driver software for your phone will also be installed. It allows you to share your phone’s Internet connection to your computer when you do not have Internet access on your computer.)
this file is also on the sd card!
Well bugger me backwards, I stand corrected!
Has anyone actually got it to work though?

just tried it and it actually seems to work!
Once htc sync was installed from http://www.htc.com/hero/m/en/index.html it installed the network adapter and all seemed well apart from no traffic.
disabled sharing and started it again and all started going flawlessly.
maybe a little slow, but enough in a pinch.
Does anyone know if this will flag up on the operators system as tethering?
With 3gb allowance per month I can't use that all on mobile browsing!
It depends on the network.
I currently am using it on a three mobile sim with the 5 pounds a month 'unlimited' mobile browsing add on.
works fine and i have been using that sim in a USB modem for the last three months, so even if they can, it depends on whether the network actually cares or not!
I know that my t-mobile sim with W&W+ allows me to do it no problems as well, although i don't think you're allowed to on the standard w&w plans. Don't know about their new 'unlimited' flext plans.

Request: SMS Pop-up like this!!!

Are there any sms-pop ups like this one for wm?:

Would be great to have a good looking sms pop-up app that shows photo of the sender like this one, seems there are several available for Android but all the ones I've found for wm looks like ****
Try SMS-Chat by Vito Tech, it has a pop-up that is pretty similar to that.
I know but I don't think it shows an image of the sender...
S2U2 does this, but it will only show if the lock screen is on.
And the picture wont be that big.
Just use XDAndroid, or get an Android phone haha.
Edit: Wait nevermind, I see use already use it, haha. Good choice.
Yes it's very nice, the problem is I can't use it at daytime or at work due to the battery drain, so I only use XDANDROID at home at the moment. But it was XDANDROD with handcent sms that first made made me go wow! and wondered why we don't have anything like it in wm...
You've probably already seen it but it takes it even one step further and allows you to fast reply in the pop-up:
Oh, really? With the latest builds I have been getting fairly decent battery life as long as I'm not constantly using data connection. So I have been using XDAndroid pretty much as my main OS throughout the whole day. But I also have an extra battery just in case.
I do really like the SMS popup with Handcent. The quick reply is really what sells it for me. Very useful.
Well I have constant data connection with push mail and stuff running so it really makes some difference I've noticed but yes the battery life has improved a lot in new releases and isn't way behind wm now except for when using wifi that is!!!
I'm searching something like this too?
+1
Im looking this!!!!
Cheers!

Does anyone know if I can use my phone as a keyboard/mouse for the MK908?

I just got an MK908 and wanted to use my phone (Samsung Galaxy S3) or my Nexus 7 tablet as a wireless or bluetooth keyboard for the MK908. Does anyone know how I can do this? I would like to avoid buying a mini-keyboard.

Droidmote Client works well. It works much better than the free alternatives out there.
In the end, however, I ended up buying a Logitech K400 keyboard b/c it worked even better.

Hello
I am in the same situation.
And yes it is possible.
Droidmote is a solution.
I am trying RKremotecontrol. I just installed it yesterday evening but I didn't had enough time to test it.
It seems to work but I don't know yet it it's a good way.
I got an example in youtube but , I am a new user here and I can't post a link
Search for this keywords: "Remote control app for RK3066 on MK802 III "
N.B: (This tool is installed in a MK908 custom rom from a certain Finless)
Tell us what you try
Yes you can, there is several solutions, search the Playstore (Droidmote, Tablet Remote) or what LeTFiD told you : RKremotecontrol, a dedicated/native solution for all RK devices.

Okay, now I'm confused. Do you mean wifi/USB data tethering? Because it's right there on the notifications strip and in the front page of the settings page. Here are a few screenshots

Thats's odd. I guess Sprint just doesn't allow tethering.
Have you tried a third party app?

What do you mean you don't have Tethering options on your Sprint LG G2? They're in Settings, Wireless Networks, More..
