i was a big fan of the htc ime and i hated swype the first time i tried it but i just tried it again and its brilliant, i wonder if it started out worse than the current version or if i just didnt "get it". Either way that is the best way to type period, forget htc. better than hardware keyboard too thanks for the download

HTC_IME works fine with the latest fix. Voice input was disabled to get it to work and will "take some time" to fix.

thanks for that link !

gimpsta has updated his site for making custom skins!! Fryo 2.2 is now a go!

Low resolution for 2.2 ??
Is there any Low resolution version for Android 2.2 (Froyo)?
Thanks,

Has anyone found a low res version of this for Froyo, trying to get it to work with FroydVillian rom 1.4.4 but it messes up (buttons are far too big for screen)?

There's a theme kitchen for the HTC_IME Mod keyboard
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=654179
The kitchen lets you build custom keyboards w/ skins. The kitchen has the option of creating a lowres froyo compatible keyboard. If you want a stock look, just pick one of the ready-made skins and make sure to select lowres-froyo.

AOSP 1.5?

The link in the "sticky wiki" isn't working.... Is there an AOSP 1.5 ROM in existence?
I love the 1.6's but SMS doesn't work for me (deal-breaker) and data connection is lost a lot (bummer)
I just want my Hero to be vanilla and have everything work. Anyone point me in the right direction?
Go get a gutted rom - about as vanilla 1.5 as you can get for Hero.

Sounds great... uh, where? I'm comfortable with wiping, flashing, etc, but have never built my own ROM. Are you saying download the HTC newly released source, or are you referring to something else in existence?
I'm on the AOSP 1.6 now, but would love to have a "Senseless" 1.5 that's as fast as this AOSP 1.6 is.
Search the forum for Gutted 1.5 since it appears that the wiki is down.

Why don't you just turn Sense off? Force stop it in Applications and see if that works for you...

I did, but that's only the home app. I'd like just vanilla. Plus I really like the stock calendar app better than HTC's version.
No one has done an aosp 1.5 yet suprisingly enough.

Yeah that doesn't work for me either. It's not the appearance that bugs me, it's the complete drop in performance that all the HTC stuff causes.
Thanks for the suggestion tho!
Didnt HTC "hack" 1.5 to use CDMA?
Ok, not really hacking, but CDMA wasnt supported until 1.6.

The moment is running a Samsung 1.5 Rom. Not aosp 1.5.
Samsung had to modify the operating system and kernel to get it to run on cdma.
(just a guess)

2.0
We have 2.0 that works well. Everything but camera and bluetooth. I use it a lot, it's AOSP 2.00
Just go into Settings>Applications>Manage Applications>HTC Sense>Clear Defaults. Then press Home. It will say HTC Sense or Home. Check the box and pick Home. Voila!

Yeah, I guess until HTC releases the 2.1 kernal (or whatever we're still missing) all these ROMs will be broken in one way or another. It's a matter of picking which things bug you the least. I don't need bluetooth, but I use the camera a lot. :-(

Yeah, that changes your home app to the default Android Home, but it doesn't get rid of Sense. HTC Sense is much more than just the home screen.

It is the closest you can get without digging in and making your own ROM. There's also a white taskbar update.zip, as well as some other mods.

This gets me thinking, couldn't we just put our kernel under a moment Rom? Then we could have "vanilla" android?
If there really is enough interest in this, I could look into stripping all of the sense and htc framework from the base 1.5 rom, but I will make no promises since I'm more interested in my work on the 2.6.29 kernel...

Droid X internal files dumped, see some on N1 soon?

Droid X has been dumped! I guess we'll see what comes out of it.
Sweet downloading now. Hopefully that multi-touch IME will work!
Thanks!
No dice on the multi touch keyboard. At least at its current state.
I pulled all of the wallpapers. Anyone have a site I can upload them to?
Im using the droid x keyboard, wallpaper and sounds on my N1 right now with no issues.
Edit: this is the best keyboard i've ever used on my nexus one. Hands down.
Sent from my Nexus One using XDA App
From what I understand the Multi-touch keyboard works on 2.1 but not 2.2
edit: posted above me answered
I found the keyboard mod. Just wish the vibrate function was working!
It is still pretty awesome though!
Any new, motorola, live wallpapers on this?
Actually what I would want to see is porting of the codecs to an n1 rom.
El Daddy, How did you get the keyboard to work?
Multi touch keyboard works, sans the vibrate
FM app also runs........
You just can't get actual reception, lol.
FM Radio .apk installed and runnig , but still no sound ,and some missing touch options !
Maybe a dev with the Knowledge can to take a look @ the code ... and make it happen !
ps. please move this >> Nexus One Android Development Section

I found it in the apps forum http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=6938202&postcount=48
All credit goes to Daneshm90 for modding it to run on the N1.
Note: vibrate doesn't work ATM
Edit: I'm running ERE27 BTW. I just got my N1 back from HTC today for a power button fix and I havent updated my sig. They reverted me back to Eclair.
Sorry for the confusion...
Ah. Yeah I got it installed but it force closes.
any apps in there worth trying?

[Q] Froyo Sense Keyboard

I'm a big fan of the Liberated Froyo Sense keyboard since the keys are bigger it doesn't enables XT9 everytime the keyboard comes up, I don't like XT9 at all, I'd rather type everything myself, mostly because I use a lot of slang. I use the compact QWERTY, by the way.
Does anyone know if it could be ripped and installed on the R012? I'd love to have it again
Pretty sure there's version in forums somewhere that's been stripped to work with CM6...

That is the original HTC keyboard and it works fine on CM 6.1. In your original post you mentioned Liberated R012. That ROM already has the HTC Sense keyboard too.

Yes it does, but it is the "old" HTC Keyboard. The keys are a bit smaller than the FR07 keyboard. The FR07 keyboard is the one I'm looking for, but to use it on the R012 ROM.

OK, then chances are that the HTC_IME that you found is the "old" HTC keyboard, too. I haven't played with FRxx yet, so I haven't seen the changes that you are talking about.

Just installed HTC_IME. Yep, it's the same old keyboard but at least it doesn't go back to XT9 after switching back from the numbers/sybols buttons. In fact, I can even switch apps without going back to XT9. It's great! I just wish the keys were wider like the new keyboard.

Jonasl HTC_IME, great T9 prediction keyboard if T9 is your thing...

http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=868131
I have used many and like this the best. The T9 prediction is by far the best. I use it on my Evo and it works great.
Edit: It works! Simply extract to SD and install.
If you're wondering why this thread is here. It was originally posted as a question on how to get the IME to work (couldn't get it to work before), but it seems to be working great now on my Epic running DK28.

I have used many and like this the best. The T9 prediction is by far the best. I use it on my Evo and it works great. I am forced to use Smart Keyboard Pro on the Epic because HTC_IME won't work. I suspect that it only works correctly on HTC devices.
If anyone knows of a workaround for the Epic, please let me know.
Thanks.

ROM 1.27.707.Pie.igomyown [july 2011] (build 21915)

Herein I post my second rom. After working on nearly 20 builds among 6.5 and 6.5.3, I could make sure that this build is surely one of the best.
A notice to the friends keen on 6.5.3; due to low RAM in Opal, 6.5 builds are much more efficient. Anyhow I hope you find it interesting.
In this rom you can find the followings:
Manila 2D + Theme from HTC HD mini MODIFIED
Finger keyboard v2.1 Thanks to Rozenthal
Notification enhancement enabled as default, you can see how it works in the picture.
Showcase 1.0.1b
Nodata
PIM Backup
Quick shutdown
Opera Mini 5.1
EZ input 2.1
Connecting notifier enabled as default
Audio Manager (working properly)
Audio Booster
Volume Control
HTC Endkey
USB to PC pop up working properly
JBlend 2.1
Adobe PDF 2.5.1
S2U2 v2.43 lock thanks to A_C for his permission to use his lock
All appreciations for Pajerm for his aid and sharing packages
For homescreen you need to install Manila Home Weather Updator
Download
