As an one month owner of Htc Universal, i searched the internet a lot and found lots of information. Also this great forum is really helpfull for me to do the rom updates or hacks provided by the experienced members... But i am thinking to open a topic to share what i found with all description... So i want to upload all the cabs and hacks i found, in an ordinary way... Probably most of the hacks which i uploaded here may be given a time ago in these forum or somewhere else... So this topic is aimed to be a collection pool of all the hacks for newbies like me and i will try to update the topic frequently... Any help to me is really great and for any mistake of mine, please forgive me...

HARD RESET:
PLEASE DONT FORGET TO BACKUP YOUR IMPORTANT DATA.

BOOT LOADER MODE(USB/SERIAL):

oh man!!! I tried the Vibrating Keypad function, was cool,,,, but I wanted to revert back and boom; it messed up completely,,, i cant even dial fast now; your soundkeypad file seems to be problematic...
any solutions?!!??!?!?
hmm ok... fixed it by goind through the registry and deleting the SOUND as string and creating new SOUND as dword... that worked... :roll: oh man, what a hassle.
on the other hand::: your tweaks seem to be very interesting :wink: good work, keep it up!

After your experience i have rechecked the hacks for phone keys and there is no problem in my device... Let me advise you;first install this hacks and then a soft reset should be a good way...

You should put them in the memory cord of your phone, then click them from there.
The .CAB files should be installed FROM THE PHONE.

Or some reason when I was downloading the files they were changing to .php not .cab. So with a quick change of name all working fine.
Anyone know how to change internet explorer reg back to original settings?

After applying pocket ie hacks there will be no new menu.I meant that if you want to go back,you can change some of the tweaks within pocket ie.For example you can change the zoom setting to larger or make fit to desktop from the menu of pocket ie.But other tweaks are directly written to registry ( cleartype, pocket ie as msie6.0, ... )

Is there a way to adjust the brightness using one of the hardware buttons?
Download one of the o-so many programs that allow you to change buttons. Or if you have time you could search the wiki and document for the rest of us which registry entries I would need to edit to change the buttons. It is also possible to use the registry entry from the voice command button to be able to use click and hold on the rest of the hardware buttons(*hint* use the universal as an example if you do not get anywhere)
The problem isn't changing the buttons, but finding a program to run that changes the brightness via command line.
I am trying to create profiles for my phone. When I set my profile to mute, it will disable the volume buttons from working. When I set my profile to active, it will enable the volume buttons to work.
So that is what I am trying to do, unfortunately, I don't know very much about the windows registry. I was hoping someone can create me a registry key to enable and disable.
I am using phone weaver. Basically this application allows me to select profiles, and when I select profiles they also execute and executable file or a .lnk file and the file will do whatever it is suppose to do. It is very simple, if you don't want to help me with the two registry keys, then I at least ask to know which registry key I am looking for to do this.
And I don't need to disable the volume icon at the top because I use Wisbar Advance to disable it from doing anything except for displaying whether the phone is mute or not.
I am using the Xperia X1. If someone can help me, this would be awesome.

Just remove the HTC volume control package and you're good to go. I couldn't tell you where the MS volume control is, it may be buried in shell32 or somewhere like that (the HTC volume control package may tell you where it is in the .rgu).
